04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Bonzie- Our DSs are staying home. Just DH, myself and the twin DDs coming for this cruise!

I'm excited too Jackie! We got our documents today...finally seems REAL!!!:banana::banana:

Well, with just about 15 days left before we leave for our trip...it's finally starting to sink in. Packing has started for real. Fish extender gifts are over 1/2 done at this point for both cruises. We cancelled our DCL transfers in LA that would have gotten us to the port at 1pm and we're joining the chartered coach (hopefully...waiting to hear confirmation) so that we can get there earlier. And today we also cancelled our Friday in San Fran excursion and decided to go it on our own so we're renting a car (Jason apparently feels brave enough to drive in SF) and doing Muir Woods on our own during the day then have booked a night/evening Alcatraz on our own, as well. This is HUGE for us as I usually am too scared to do ports on my own. I want/need Disney to plan everything....but I wasn't in love with the choices and times of the DCL offerings so we're venturing out on our own!!:thumbsup2

On an unrelated note.....is everyone getting excited for the official announcements about the 2012 itineraries and the fact that apparently those of us who are Platinum and Gold shoudl be able to start booking (and/or moving dummy dates) later this week! *crosses fingers*

::yes:: Made phone calls to the sisters to see who is interested in Hawaii and the catagory staterooms acceptable. So I'll be one of the Platinum/Gold folks making spur of the moment decisions on Thursday or Friday...or whenever it is. I haven't decided if I'll try to move my dummy on line or call into DCL. I think a call might be better/easier to shop prices and locate the 'perfect' stateroom. Guess maybe I can play on line while waiting on HOLD for a CM! :rotfl:

Anybody have any experience moving an entire reservation on line?

Is this discount coupon a sign that it may not be all that crowded in the parks?:confused3

I think so...I think DisneyLand is expecting low turnout the week or so before our cruise. Fantasmic is not showing AT ALL after Easter for one or two weeks and I have a hard time imagining that they would do that if they thought crowds would be large.

Limited hours and only 4 or 5 places will take it, they did the same thing at WDW last week.

I suppose you can print it as many times as you want, but you can not make colour copies of it.

Hey, if we can take on Europe on our own, you can do SF. We did the Med with DD12 and DS6 at the time and made it back all in one piece. We toured Pompeii, Rome, Cinque Terre, Valleta and Barcelona on our own and did fine. Just always have a map on hand!:) By the way, we are doing SF on our own with 3 adults and 4 kids. Watch out SF, here we come!

On the contrary, DL only issues those types of coupons when they expect there to be higher than normal crowds (last one was issued during the Christmas holiday) - the purpose is to mitigate the crowds of people trying to dine at peak times by encouraging at least some of those people to eat at an off-peak time.

As for Fantasmic being down after Easter, I wouldn't read too much into that. Fantasmic! almost always goes down for refurb in late April, early May (I know because all but one of our last five trips has been in that time frame) I think we can still expect much higher crowds than normal just after Easter - it will just be a little less crowded around the Rivers of America in the evening.

I just received this email, and thought I'd pass it on. If anyone is planning 2 nights in Vancouver, you can book them here http://www.tourismvancouver.com/vis...utm_content=generic&utm_campaign=v_newsletter

Eric, thanks for the heads up about the new itineraries! Now to decide whether we really want to do a 15 night cruise. The Hawaii dates would be great - I have a convention in Vegas up to the 28th, so LA would be a short drive away - just not sure if we want that many days at sea, and if we want to put down that big a deposit while on vacation! :confused3 Such a dilemma to have!:lmao:

Yeah...we aren't actually sure we can DO the trip, but our TA has been given instructions that the second bookings open to move one of our sets of dummy dates to the Hawaii trip and the other to do a B2B with one of the 2night weekends from NYC (8/10) connected to one of the 5 night Nova Scotia trips (8/12).....which we'll then follow with a theater weekend in NYC to. (We're from upstate NY so getting to NYC is a 1 hour, $59 Jet Blue flight usually....so you can't really go wrong there for us!!

Taxes filed!!:cool1: So DH gave his ok for me to head west for opening day in SF. Hopefully they do better than they have been. Leaving DH and the "girls" to finish our FE. I am lucky DH is a graphic designer!
Have a great 6 days everyone I will check-in when I return on the 13th which will be 14 days before the trip!

We enjoy the days at sea - those coupled with Hawaiian ports are perfect for us!

We wanted to do the last NYC/Canada and add on the repo to Galveston, they have not announced the repo yet - so we will wait to see what happens. Did not think of doing the 2 days at sea then Canada, that could be an option.

I really want to do the NY/Canada cruise! We're super excited about the new ports because we live in Houston (about 1.5 hours from Galveston) and we might be moving to Anchorage--which has tons of flights to Seattle everyday!!

Only 19 days and a wake up until we're cruising the west coast!! We decided to do Alchatraz on our own, and the Disney museum through DCL on Saturday (that way we guarantee that we will get back to the boat on time!)
