Has anyone had luck in car rentals from Vancouver to Seattle?
We are finding crazy quotes for the over the boarder and one way - hoping for some pixie dust![]()

we booked muir woods, alcatraz and sausalito on one day through viator.
When I first decided to do this cruise, I was going to take the train from Vancouver to Seattle. However, when I priced my flight, it was about $230 and I couldn't do better from Seattle. If baggage fees are not an issue, you can fly from Vancouver airport to Seattle pretty inexpensively, too, Look at Alaska Air, I thing they were running about 50 bucks, but it has been a while since I looked.
I know that I am not really helping, sorry.
We're taking Amtrak Cascades train from Vancouver to Stanwood, but it goes all the way to Seattle. Leaves at 5:30 pm, so time to tour in Vancouver. It was $24 each. No bus involved, which DH likes. It is 3 hrs for our leg - probably 3 1/2 or 4 to SEA.
Thanks Sue! I talked with my friend in the area today, and she wants to go with us after all - so she'll bring her car to the pier and pick us up, then park somewhere at her DBF's work near the pier. It's all coming together!![]()
Thanks for the tip....getting our San Fran plans ironed out by the first week of April is high on our list of priorities....I still can't believe this trip is only a few weeks away (we literally leave home for Disneyland in 25 days!!) and I haven't gotten out one thing to pack, haven't really STARTED on fish extender goodies (and I have two cruises of fish extender lists to prepare for!!), still have to finish one of the formal sets we are hoping to wear on this trip and we haven't made a single new door magnet yet!! (Actually, we're thinking we prob. won't make any new door magnets this time.....we have SO MANY from previous trips that we will likely be doing a lot of recycling of old magnets...but we'll see).
thank you for the flight suggestion - I did try that but there aren't any reasonable flights availble anymore
thanks for pointing this one out - I had been looking at the train schedule - but failed to see this one - it may be our solution - we are hoping to get to friends early in the day - but we may have to sacifice for a reasonable price.![]()
Are you going on Friday? A BFF of mine is driving in from Sacramento and meeting us at the ship to go to the museum. If you have not gotten tickets you can go on line and get them. Sue
I just had to post this from DCL!
Only 30 days until your cruise sets sail!

We got a room!!! We are going to be in #2637. And its a small upgrade. We booked a Cat.11 and got a Cat.10, its a split bath so easier to get ready. We will be changing rooms for the Alaska as we will have a window for that cruise.
I have been looking at them for almost a year - nothing reasonable. I have heard that some folks found a midsized car for about 200 one way...me - no such luck. I am training it! I am staying overnight after the Alaska trip for one day, then train to Seattle.Has anyone had luck in car rentals from Vancouver to Seattle?

Hey Deb - is everything ok? I would hate to have you miss these cruises...reach out if I can help! You should be able to shift it without a big deal.Things are looking a bit better for us to cruise. But there is always a last minute things that may happen that we would have to cancel.
WE are a bit behind in planning!!
I never did put in my request to change to early dining for this and the Alaskan. Hoping that we can change at the port.
Hoping for my Docs this week!
Debbie
I didn't even bother to look at air...I want to see the countryside and train seems the best way. The bus route is similar, but I am sticking to the train. When I first decided to do this cruise, I was going to take the train from Vancouver to Seattle. wow...my camera shop owner never even mentioned this! I have two 8gig cards that are both HD - since I have a small point n shoot - it lives in my pocket. I don't think cold will be an issue. Plus- aren't you talking about temps of under 40 degrees F? I don't think it is going to be that cold. Here are some tips that I received from my local camera shop owner...
I stopped by our local camera shop yesterday to pick up some larger memory cards for my digital camera and I am glad I did....I was lucky enough to be served by the camera shop owner and when he found out we were cruising to Alaska he advised that any old memory card will just not do. He explained that the cold temperatures can cause your memory card to be corrupted and you could lose your pictures. I know none of us want to lose our pictures so check your memory card to ensure it can withstand cold temperatures, especially those heading to excursions on glaciers. I ended up purchasing the Extreme SDHC memory cards by SanDisk - they can withstand temperatures from -12ºF to 185ºF. They were a little more expensive but I don't want to lose any of my precious memories of this cruise.
He also mentioned that the cold will reduce your battery life so it is best to have a battery (or two) as back up.
Just thought I'd pass along the information.
Good Morning everyone.
It won't be long now.
Did another update to the ROSTER.
Sorry for the delay in any changes that needed to be made.
Life has been pretty busy here.
Looking forward to seeing everyone real soon.
