04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

For the Americans who have the organizers, where did you get them? (I have half a day to shop in SoCal)

Come on down to Bellingham! It seems like 20% of Vancouver does every weekend! I bought mine for less than $10 at the Target in the mall. But it was not clear - the back was opaque white, the front of the pockets was clear.

Hi everyone!
I just booked this repo cruise and can't wait! It's quite a busy thread here, so I catching up is improbable. All I know is I'll be passing on FE and the lanyard. I'll be cruising solo so look out, Wavebands!

-- ImprovGal

Welcome Aboard! :cheer2: Your name looks like you do comedy?

The trip is getting close. Still lots to do to get ready. It really feels like the trip was so far away for the longest time and now its just around the corner. Part of me wants it to hurry up and get here and part of me wonders if I'll actually manage to get ready:confused3

I know! I really haven't started much except some shopping, and getting the suitcases out. I had to leave our largest suitcase behind because of the train regulations - I panicked when I found out I couldn't check them for that leg of the train - then measured, and we'll be okay - just have to take one extra carryon size. Rambling now - sorry - my mind is racing about what I have to get done.

I am still trying to post 10 times in order to send PM to bonzie1 to be included on roster. Getting the hang of it. Won't be long now.

Just post some random questions, one at a time. Or post a few words here - two words at a time. We will know why.

I know the feeling! I'm going to try and get the last of my shopping done this weekend (heading to SuperWalmart) - I was able to get some done last weekend when we had an impromptu trip to Seattle and I just happened to end up at Target. :thumbsup2 I'm about halfway done the list so I'm thinking I should be able to get the rest done this weekend. And yes, I realize I've got more than a month to get everything ready... but my OCD means I need to get it done NOW. :lmao:

As a side note, I'm having a hard time trying to find those over the door clear shoe organizers that people use for toiletries and such. I found one at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but it's $25! The regular Walmart by us didn't have any clear (just canvas) and I forgot to look at Target when we were in Seattle :headache:. Any Canadians have luck at Super Walmart or Superstore? Those are the two places I'm going to try this weekend... For the Americans who have the organizers, where did you get them? (I have half a day to shop in SoCal)

Ours is blue fabric - we can't see through it, but the sections kind of tip forward, so you can tell what's in there anyway. We got it at Big Lots for $8. I'm sure you'll find one reasonable somewhere.

can't wait for this cruise, getting more and more excited:cool1:

We leave in 35 days! :woohoo:

We just use the corner curio in the front bathroom for most of our toiletries ... then put toothbrushes, medications (etc) on the glass shelf over the sinks in both bathrooms. We've been doing this for more than 10 years on the Magic ... with 2, 3 or 4 people ... with no issues. :cool2:

I just mailed pictures of me (and my tablemates) to our (requested) server and assistant server on the Wonder. If anyone has sailed on the Wonder recently, or you have requested specific servers ... why not send them pictures, along with a note letting them know you are on the way to *visit* them?

As per DCL Guest Services, mail should be addressed as follows:

Disney WONDER
Attn: ........... (name), ........... (department, Stateroom Host, Dining Server, etc)
c/o Metro Shore Services
Berth 93A, World Cruise Center
Terminal Manager's Office
San Pedro, CA 90731

I think this is a great idea ... interesting ... can't imagine too many servers get a letter from guests, in ADVANCE of a sailing!
:cloud9:

We do that for toiletries too, but it's a great to have all the little "stuff" that gets cluttered all around the desk and nightstand and table in there - especially with kids - hairbrush, hair ties, sunscreen (which we probably won't need much of this time), camera, maybe even shoes

that's a good idea, too bad the servers I know are on Dream or Magic.

My *kid* is in her 40's!
My son is in his 20's, but is staying at home with the dog. :thumbsup2
We usually put our shoes on the shelves under the safe (in the closet).

We also generally charge the camera, phones, camcorders on the desk overnight (remember there are extra outlets behind the flat screen TV), and put them on the upper ledge of the counter/desk (next to the closet) where the ice bucket and glasses are generally kept. I'm not sure we're doing anything special ... but all seems to go well.

We also keep one plastic Disney bag to put in daily paperwork ... Navigators, Excursion or shopping info, receipts ... anything that we will no longer be using on the cruise ... but THINK we want to take home with us. A day or so before we disembark, we go through the bag ... toss anything we KNOW we do not want to schlep home. :sad2:

Okay, I made my own FE today! I am not the best at sewing, but I did it all by myself and my DD12 did not have to supervise me. Its not exactly perfect, but hey, I tried. We are getting so excited, although my husband will not let me pull the suitcases out yet because it will send our beagles into a panic, as they know that we will be going away. They mope around the house and whine, making us feel bad for leaving them. Trust me, they are not going to suffer while we are gone. I will have to figure out how to pack without them finding out. Haha. Last year Emma sat in our suitcase and wimpered. My partner in crime and I are working on our FE stuff. We were pleased to find a Target is across the street from our hotel in Anaheim if we forget anything. I can't wait!!!

Our retriever has the travel gene in her ... as does my DSIL's German Shephard. It's funny how dogs react (and cats could care less!).

As for your FE ... don't FRET! Everyone is a newbie ... but only once! People have used plastic trash bags, wooden (Dutch) clogs, and even kid's backpacks!

Some of the DCL officers will often stop to look 9at amazement) at the detail, and amount of work put into the FE's and door magnets ... not to mention how many places their guests have been. :dance3: It's all good! :wizard:

Besides registering with bonzie1 & a PM to kpros for lanyards, activities??

Send a PM to me if you wish to participate in the FE exchange. Welcome Disney Pita. As others have said, post a few more questions, or something about your family, and you will be able to PM soon.

I'm laughing about your poor beagles. Our dog is a retired racing greyhound. We pack, and she's like 'Yes, I get to go to the kennel!' She lived in a kennel at the track for nearly the first 3 years of her life, so it doesn't bother her.... but I know about dogs and guilt trips! Good luck!

I was one of the 20% last weekend, but I forgot to look for the shoe organizer :headache: We're stopping at a Target in Anaheim anyways (our flight out of BLI leaves too early for us to get it in Bellingham), so I'll grab one there. As long as it's clear in the front so I can see the things I put in there, I'm not picky about colour.

Glad to hear that if I don't find one it's not that big of a deal! :thumbsup2 There's only two of us this trip...

I totally understand. As soon as I pull out the suitcases, our cats get panicked looks and freak out. One of them will sit in our suitcase and not get out until we physically remove her. The funny thing is, they LOVE our cat sitter who comes to take care of them while we're gone because they get so much playing time, love and treats but they still go a little crazy. I pulled out one of our carry-ons last weekend but so far no craziness. I'm guessing because it was just one? I love them dearly, but they're not the brightest ;)

Fellow cruisers Happy St. Pat's Day everyone who is Irish or wants to be Irish. We are approaching the one month mark!:cool1: To bad we are not in SF today it is a great place to spend St. Pat's day!
I am leaving on the 7th for 6 days in SF. If there is anything any of you want me to check out let me know and I will see what I can do for you. Will be spending most of my time at ATT Park and staying with my second mom on the Peninsula~!
Sue

Aloha Sue! We are so jealous!! We have been busy watching the Giants beat the Dodgers in spring training:thumbsup2 We really want to meet up with you on the cruise, we have a little something for you! Have a fun trip, Karen and Ron CoastieandMate:hug:

Animals are too funny! Our cat freaks out--just like your cats! Unfortunately our cat likes very few people, and when we're gone she usually hides under the bed--no matter who comes by to check on her. Then when we get home, she's always sure to remind us that we left her all alone and she requires lots of attention!

WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! After we get back to town after Easter dinner, we'll toss our clothes in suitcases and head out THE NEXT DAY!!!! WOOHOO!!!!

Dollar Tree...I just saw one this morning that has 6 pockets, is clear with a colored back - either red or blue...good luck! (BTW you can order Dollar Tree items online)

Oh Steven I completely disagree that cats care less...Mine (I no longer have cats due to ashtma) used to get snippy and standoffish...they would ignore me, refuse to sit with me, and then
would pee in my luggage if I left it on the floor!

SCRAPBOOKING CLASS ON THE REPO

Okay, sorry I have been MIA, but had a family crisis this last month with my mother, but she is out of hospital and has gone home, so I am trying to get my act together and get ready for the cruise. HA

Here is who I have PM's from that would like to scrapbook:

bonzie1-Georgie
COASTIEand MATE-Karen
disforever-Kathy
hamm1207-Sarah
Herbie'sgal-Erica
ibouncetoo-Jackie
LynnG-Lynn
Mickey&JoshNut-Elaine and Margaret
MJGirl-Mary Jane and Kirstyn
threebritts-Heather
Tigger1221-Jill
Tadsmommy-Karen, Tiffany, Ashley

That's 16 so far.

So, for those that have scrapbooked before, you know the drill, but for those that haven't, here's some info:

1. We usually have the scrapbook class on the 1st sea day at 11 a.m. However, it always ends up being a conflict with our Palo's brunch reservations, so I am inclined to move it to 1 p.m. on our first sea day, so we don't have any brunch issues.

2. I generally come up with idea and try to make it go around the theme of the cruise (i.e. this one would be west coast specific for repo and Alaska) and I generally charge a minimal fee to help me with a portion of the cost. Generally in the past I think it has been around $10 and if I get your scrapbook adhesive and bring it for you, add $5 to that for a total of $15. So I try to keep the cost under that.

So, you are asking--what are we doing. Well, next weekend is Scrapbook USA Expo here in Salt Lake, so that is where I go hunt for bargains and try to find whatever it is we are going to do. And then I spread things out throughout my house for the next month compiling everything and shipping it to California so it awaits my arrival.

That is kinda the rundown.

So the plan.......

1. First sea day 1 p.m. most likely in Animator's

2. If you want to join the fun, please PM me ASAP so I can add you to the list so I can kinda figure out how much to buy next weekend; and,

3. Deadline to sign up to participate will be April 10th.

4. That's it!

Can't wait to cruise. This has just been a hectic spring. Guess I need to make my plane reservations next, but my adult daughter has me on hold because she thinks she has a life separate from mine and I am waiting for her to hear on her summer job. Hopefully, we will have an answer this next week and then I can plan from there.

Oh Steven I completely disagree that cats care less. Mine ... used to get snippy and standoffish...they would ignore me, refuse to sit with me, and then would pee in my luggage if I left it on the floor!

THAT'S NORMAL FOR CATS, isn't it? :confused3

As megsablue said (about cats), they're not the brightest!
