04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Of course, many Americans, including me, just never caught on with that km thing. How many miles would that be approximately? Is it within walking distance to Stanley Park or would we need a car?

Hi Linda

1 km = 0.6 miles

It's Friday! And we're going to Walt Disney World!

I'll miss chatting with everyone the next few days. We have no internet connections at Mouse Beach... just our Blackberrys.

Thanks for all the info being posted. I'll have to start taking notes. :goodvibes I finally got a chance to see some of the great magnet designs posted. They are so creative! :thumbsup2

Bob, thanks for the well wishes. Facebook keeps acting up when I try to view and post, so I may have missed some things. :wizard:

HAPPY WEEKEND ALL!

Have a great trip!

Sorry about that, wasn't even thinking about the conversion.
Here's a link to the Stanley Park website.http://vancouver.ca/PARKS/parks/stanley/
I definitely wouldn't get a car to go from port to Stanley park. Its 2km (1.2miles :) ) from the port to the entrance of Stanley park. The Seawall going around the park is 5.5miles and is estimated to take 2-3 hours to walk around or 1 hour to bike around. There is horse drawn carriage tours that go around the park, which I haven't done, but look neat.

Thanks for the info. That's sounds like it would be real fun to do and I'm sure we will have time to wander around the city!

Hi Everyone! We just decided today 1/2 hr after Member Services closes, that we want to use DVC points for a Cat 9 on this cruise! Being West Coasters, we think this will be a great scenic trip, and a great use of our points! :thumbsup2 Now I just have to wait for tomorrow morning - I hope our cat is still available, we don't want to borrow points.

Thank you! It worked - we're in!:banana::banana::banana::banana: 6014 - formerly a cat 8! I'm beyond excited, and it's 18 mo away! We still have a Hawaii cruise to do next year and all I can think about is DCL! :rotfl:

Welcome!:wave2:

I think that a Hawaii cruise would be great.

Borrowing points? Shoot, seems like that is what we are always doing.

I just signed up for a walking clinic and walked 7 km (about 3.5 miles) today. My goal is the 2011 Disney Half Marathon! Only 14 km to go. My legs are fine, but the blisters on my heels hurt.

Hoping this will get us in shape for our next two cruises!

Thank you! I didn't have to borrow, got just what we wanted for this trip!

I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, so we're celebrating our 30th next year by cruising it! We have a deluxe balcony cabin and everything. I'm just not as excited as I should be, because it's not DCL, it's Norweigan.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Congratulations!!!

Oh yeah!!!! ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: One day, maybe...

Thank you!

Hi! Good for you, getting in shape. Hope your blisters get resolved. Cute dog in your Avatar. My MIL has a Bijon. Is it okay to borrow your cruise tag in your siggie?

COuld be your shoes, or socks, .... both really make a difference. check with a local running shop see what they have to say. I know there are certain brands of shoes that don't work for me and there are brands that really work well fr me. every foot is different.

Lynn might have some thoughts as she is a walker...

Hey don't sell yourself short, 7K is 4.2 miles..... good going. Keep it up....

Hi Everyone

Just back from a short trip down the California Coast. Hope everyone is doing well!!

Ken P.

Happy Friday!!!

I've just been taking a look at some of the tours on offer in Vancouver as we want to extend our August 2011 Alaskan cruise... So far I've discovered BC wine tasting tours :thumbsup2 (I had no idea!!!) AND, for fans of Twilight, a filming locations tour... ;)

Me and John would be interested in the wine tasting tours.

We can watch the launch of the Disney Dream live from NY - no not on Saturday Night - but Oct 29th 4:15pm ET at www.disneycruise.com
-have to share my excitement with all my DISbuds!:cool1:

Great Job! As Scott said, the blisters may be from shoes but more likely from socks - are you wearing cotton? Cotton is not good to walk in - get some technical or socks made for walking - they will be nylon or cool max or something synthetic that will wick moisture away from your foot.

We are back from record heat in WDW, back to cold and snow! We had a great time, and I did much better than I expected to do.

Have a great day all!

That makes me curious. Most of the wines in BC (the good ones) are made in the Okanagan. That is about 4hours away from Vancouver. Not sure if there is time for an 8 hour round trip to the Okanagan when we get off the ship.

Any more info on this and I can look into it... where did you hear about it?

Hi Everyone!

We are back from WDW. Thanks for cheering us along the 10K Race for the Taste. :cheer2:

DRUMROLL... :rockband: We FINISHED! I couldn't believe it. We were so happy to cross the finish line! :yay: It was great to see Scott and Lynn at the finish line too!!! :thumbsup2

Now, however, I have much difficulty walking, going up and down stairs, etc. UGH! I've never known this much leg pain! LOL! I think my muscles are saying, "Well, what did you expect!" :rotfl2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!

I'll get to the PMs soon!
