04/10/2011 Mexican Riviera Cruise

You scared me! I can't book anything until 75 days since it's my first cruise. January 25!

As of yesterday, THREE MONTHS UNTIL OUR CRUISE!

Hi! I'd be happy to organize the FE list. I did it for the 08 Panama Canal cruise with I think 100 people involved so this will be a piece of cake!!

I need everyone to give me a list of their name and the ages, names of their party along with the cabin number. Best to send me a private message so I make sure I get it. I will then create a master list to give to everyone that wants to participate. You need to get a small gift (anything from .25 cents to whatever) for each cabin. Normally, kids like to get their own so if there are 3 kids in one cabin, you might want to plan on 4 gifts (1 for the adult(s) and 1 for each kid). Sometimes there can be family gifts like a CD. Once I get the names of all that want to participate, I can assign days so the kids can look forward to a gift each day.

About us: Lisa, Quentin - sailed 3 times with Disney (Mexican, Caribbean, and Panana Canal). We've sailed on other lines (Princess, Celebrity, NCL, RCCL). We have 5 kids - ages at sail time: Owen (13), Jack (10), Aidan (8), Luke (5), and Abby (1). We live in Northern California and plan on driving down. We may or may not be traveling with others, still working on that.

It is springbreak for our kids. Yeah!
Lisa

Hello everyone! I thought there was no replys to this topic since I was not getting the emails! I haven't posted since the 3rd page :scared1: Our family will be participating in the FE gift exchange :thumbsup2
Calmom I will send you a PM with our info.
Thank you for offering to organize the FE exchange.
The trip will be here soon!
We have not decided if we are going to book any excursions since we have the kids, but we will definately have our alone time at the spa with a private cabana! :cloud9: Well worth the money if you have extra. We did that on the last Disney cruise and came out of there completely relaxed! Needless to say the kids ended that real quick! Palo is a definate yes :thumbsup2

We were able to book dinner at Palos and brunch. This is the first time we were able to do this as well its always been filled on all of our other cruises. I was surprised that there weren't as many excursions available as was listed on the website.

Does anyone know of any hotels you can buy a daypass at so you can use their beach or pool? It is so expensive through the cruise line. We were looking to do this in Puerto Vallarta, since you can't really go in the ocean at very many places in Cabo.

Hope everyone jumps in to the FE, my kids loved it last time.

Do you happen to remember any specific excursions that weren't available? :confused3

In PV I have heard of Krystal resort but I have no personal experience there. A couple people on the board have recommended it.

Perfect!! Will make the change! Lisa

I made the change - if your on the list if you could confirm that you are still traveling if you haven't posted for awhile, that would be great.

It is strange that there aren't more DISers on this Spring Break sailing! But as long as we have 7 people/families that want to do the FE, we can get a gift everyday!

I think the 10-day one after us probably got a lot of people. We would have loved to do a 10-day one - I was really hoping our spring break was going to be that same time, but we were off by one week.

We went on the 14-day Panama Canal one in 08 - that was so fun to be on the ship for that long.

We are going to Disneyland for 3 nights before this sailing. Anyone else visiting the park either before or after? We have reservations right now at the Grand Californian, but just not sure it is worth the premium price. We stayed at the Disneyland hotel last time - that was a lot of fun, but the location of the Grand Californian seems so much better.

We signed up for the Paradise Beach Excursion in PV. Read some good reviews on it. We may stay on the boat for Mazatlan - we've been there several times, twice with the kids, so thought we might take advantage of the quiet ship. Still deciding about Cabo.

Not sure if there is any pin collectors traders?? For our last cruise, we bought a bag of pins so the kids had pins to trade. This site has a the grab bag option - mousepinsonline
I just bought a bag for this cruise. It is fun for the kids to trade with the CMs on board.
Lisa

Our kids are on spring break the week after we go on the cruise. We were hoping that it was the same time as the sailing... oh well, they get 2 weeks with no school! :o

IMO, the extra money for the GCH is well worth it. I stay there every year for my birthday (not this year though, since I am saving for my wedding :bride:), and I love the convenience. It is a splurge, yes, but the easy access to DCA is so convenient. I love riding the rapids in the evening and then going back to the hotel to change clothes!!

If you stay at GCH, make sure you get a room with the park view; you won't regret it. Last year my room was overlooking the mouse coaster and we watched World of Color from the balcony. The view was obstructed but it was still cool. :thumbsup2

Even if you don't stay at GCH, be sure to take some time to walk through the lobby, check out the awesome stained glass sliding doors at the entrance, and sit by the outside fireplace. :goodvibes

Hi there! Haven't been on disboards in ages, so am just finding this thread today ;)

My DH (John) and I will be on the cruise and can't wait!! We've been on two Disney cruises previously - one WAY back in 1998 to the Bahamas for our honeymoon and one last January to the Eastern Caribbean with the kids. This time we've planned an "adults only" trip since my son's spring break isn't the same week and we're already taking him out of school in May for a trip to WDW and don't want him to miss TOO much school. :rolleyes1

Not sure if it's too late to join the FE group, but if not, we'd love to do it! We haven't participated on our previous cruises, but it sounds like great fun!

I completely agree with Mindyjoy - GCH is DEFINITELY worth the cost. We are DVC owners at GCH and love it! But, even prior to joining DVC, we stayed at all 3 Disney hotels, and found GCH to be by far the most convenient in terms of getting to the park and DD.

DLH is also very nice, especially with the newly renovated rooms, but with the construction going on right now, it is kind of a pain to get around. Also, we didn't have any construction noise when we stayed there in Sept., but I've heard a few complaints from people who have stayed there more recently.

I'd say go ahead and splurge on GCH! It is absolutely worth it! :thumbsup2

We have enough for one gift every day! If anyone else wants to participate, please let me know. If you haven't PM with your cabin, please do so. I will then send a message to those participating with cabin information. Also, if you have any day preferance, please let me know. It would be good to have everyone take a different day so we know we will get goodies every day!

Also, not too late for anyone that wants to join - we can always have multiple people on days. For ordering purposes, we should probably have some date cut-off, maybe March 15??
