04/10/2011 Mexican Riviera Cruise

What time is everyone arriving? We usually get there at the crack of dawn! Not literally but early. I am hoping to get upgraded to a suite but would need also rm close by Corliss since we are party of 7. We will be at Grand California for 3 nights prior. Never stayed there so can't wait. Any tips for The parks? Only gone a few times with the kids. Much prefer the luxury of the cruises...

WOW!! Talk about a Disney vacation. I've been an annual passholder for 7 years, except this last one because we decided to do the cruise. My best suggestion is to utilize the fastpass as much as possible. If you play the fastpass game right, you will get alot more done.

Thanks Lisa!

If there are any corrections that need to be made, please let me know.

Thanks to everybody for their hard work to get this done. This is our first cruise and really looking forward to the FE, even though I really dont know exactly what to expect. But I know it will be great. We actually have two connecting rooms, 2635 & 2637. We were going to put our FE on the room number I gave you. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I am OK as is.

I GOT MY WELCOME KIT TODAY WITH MY LUGGAGE TAGS!!!!!!!:cool1:

Is there time to join FE for this cruise? It is for our 2 year old son Carson. I think he would love it!

You are more than welcome to post your information but it is too late to join the official list as we have to have some sort of deadline or it gets a bit chaotic. If you state your cabin number then maybe if some folks have extra they can include you in your list. What I suggest if you want to try it out is just bring some goodies in your suitcase and you can surprise your son with small gifts yourself, in case others don't have extras.

Welcome to the thread!

Lisa

How do you get upgraded?
Sometimes they have a limited amount of cabins available day of sailing and you can pay to upgrade. The price to upgrade day of sailing is less than upgrading prior.

I listed both ours as we have 2 FE. I think if you have the one, that we are good to go with the number on the list. Thanks!

Ok thank you for the suggestion. I'll bring little presents for him to find. It will be is own personal FE.

I love Grand Californian! We just booked our wedding reception there. :lovestruc:bride:

Be sure to check out the stained glass sliding doors when you first enter the lobby. Most people miss them because it's such a high traffic area.

One of my favorite places to relax and have a drink is the outside fireplace. You can get a drink at the Hearthstone Lounge and then walk outside and sit by the fire. :cloud9:

Storytellers Cafe has a great character breakfast! It's not the Fab 5, but Chip and Dale are usually there, and some characters from Brother Bear. Much less crowded than the character breakfast at Paradise Pier and Goofy's Kitchen, but they are all good and the buffet is actually worth the price.

Napa Rose is an amazing restaurant but it's not so great for kids. They also have a lounge area where you can go and just have a drink and appetizer. If you go and the weather is nice, ask if you can be seated on the patio. The patio looks into DCA. If you just want to go to one fancy/expensive restaurant during your visit, make it the Blue Bayou. Be sure to call Disney Dining and make reservations at least a couple weeks ahead of time.

Take advantage of the direct park entry into DCA from Grand Californian. It is so convenient!!

Try the rapids ride at night! The lines are usually much shorter plus the darkness makes it a bit more adventurous. Ride it a couple times, then go back to your room to change clothes. :thumbsup2

If you don't have a "park view" room, IMO it is HIGHLY worth the extra money. During my last stay I had an (obstructed) view of World of Color.

If you have Magic Morning early park entry, take advantage of it! You can wake up early, go into the park for a couple hours, then go back to the hotel and take a nap. It is so worth it. Ride Space Mountain, Peter Pan, and Indiana Jones during Magic Morning.

If you go to California Adventure, get a fast pass immediately for Soarin, then go to Toy Story Mania. They are the most popular rides in the park and lines get very long very quickly. Toy Story has no fast pass.

If I can think of anything else I'll post it. :thumbsup2

We are also staying at GC, but just the night before. Maybe we'll see you there! :)

Mindyjoy gave some great park tips - I agree with everything she said :thumbsup2 I'd also make sure to get the fastpass for World of Color if you're planning on seeing it. The fastpass machine is right next to the GC "special" entrance, so you can get over there first thing in the morning and get a good section (I've gotten blue most of the time). The picnic option is also a good option if the machine is all out by the time you get there. We found it to be a better value than going to one of the sitdown restaurant options, but mostly because we just like to eat and then head to the next ride as quickly as we can!

As for non-park things, my DS8 absolutely LOVES to sit in the lobby at GC and watch the Mickey cartoons they play there throughout the day. As a matter of fact, he and my DH are doing that exact thing RIGHT now :)

chrisrunty-I haven't finished my stuff so I will add your little boy to my list. Can you believe we are down to a little over a month??????

Thank you so much! How fun. I can't believe how soon it is. It's been raining so much lately in Seattle I am looking forward to sunshine, family time and not having to do dishes for a week. :thumbsup2

I started working on my FE tonight.

I ironed the interfacing and sewed the little pocket on top for the dowel. I have a feeling this was the easy part. :scared1:

That is so cute. I have no idea what our fish extender is going to look like yet, as I have casiland take care of it.

Very cute! Really like the fabric :) I am a horrible sewer, but my mom does it all the time, so I'm having her make it for me :thumbsup2 I'm into "vintage Mickey" so I found some really cute fabric with Mickey comics from the 30s and 40s that I'm going to use. Can't wait to see what everyone else is doing too!

Oh, and I got my cruise documents this weekend too. It's getting close!!
