03/01/2008 Eastern!!

Rani depends on how busy I get January, but I was going to try to do pillowcases for the biys and your DD. If you can just be patient to let me see how the new year goes, I will let you know. I did not want to post that until closer to the cruise, because I had to actually see what I was commiting to first. I will keep you posted if you can just hold tight......

Medical personal is pretty good on the ship, but if you want Over the counter medical items, they can be a bit spendy. Do not worry I am the OOP (obsessive over-packer) and will have what ever medical supplies you may need.:lmao: This is the reason I needed Johnna to go with us, so we could be in the club together... :sad1: Everyone laughs at me when I leave with the pharamacy, but somehow I become the very popular one among friends on our cruises. Hey guys, it is all legal though!!!!

Some DISers feel the need to bring water on the ship, even though Disney specifically says not to bring any food or beverages on board, some do it anyway. You can do it if you feel the need as the people whom check your luggage at the port are independent and could gives a rats tail, but I do not feel it is necessary. DCL's water is water that has been ran through a triple RO (reverse osmosis), water system and taste better than most bottled water to DH and I and we are very particular water people.

I hope this helps a little... We will talk soon.:hippie:

Michelle - nice to know I'm missed. :goodvibes

Rani - pack all the "little" stuff you need - advil, tylenol, kids tylenol, dramamine - we didn't think we'd need it but DS got seasick on the way to the Atlantis Submarine. He was fine for the rest of the cruise, but not for that submarine ride on a choppy day. Wish I had it then! But all of that little stuff is ridiculously expensive on board (picture 7-11 prices, then multiply it by 5!) so better to have a it with you than waste money on it. Oh - don't forget a digital thermometer.

The only thing I suggest is to pack in your checked luggage or buy in FLA is the Sunscreen! When I went to Puerto Rico, we only did carry on luggage and I didn't have any sunscreen in carry on size, so I had to buy it there, and then leave it there because it was too big to carry on. Some lucky housekeeper got some free sunscreen in addition to her tip. :goodvibes

They do have plenty of water that is fine to drink, but some people bring bottled water, especially to take on excursions. The security people could care less about what liquids you bring on board the ship - we've brought juice boxes, water, wine, vodka, cranberry, seltzer, etc. I know people who've brought beer and other stuff too. It saves A LOT of money so if you're on a budget it really helps. Again - bottled water to buy for excursions can add up, so having some can save some $$ for other stuff - like a great spa treatment or the endless photos they take of you that you'll REALLY want to buy.

Miss you all - Happy 2008. :cheer2:

Johnna

Hey Johnna, thanks for checking back in and posting. We do miss you and took mental note of your Feb. cruise date.......

Rani, Johnna is right I went to look back at a past invoice and found that we paid $6.80 for a small tube of hydrocortisone. We left ours at the hotel and needed another once on board. So you can compare these prices.

Everyone you want to do a SUnday night chat session this weekend on the
30th? We can move it to a week later too if you will be out of town?

Did you guys go see Enchanted or are you waiting until we get on the ship?

What has everyone planned or scheduled?

oohhhh, how do we know what movies are showing on the ship?

I may be able to do a Chat on Sunday night, but only if it is late enough. We are having neighbors over for dinner starting at 6:30 Central, and following dinner we will be giving them some pointers for their first ever trip to WDW.

We have seen Enchanted, it was wonderful, but will gladly watch it again on the ship. Just need to find a way of keeping my kids from "giving away" the story to those who will not have seen it yet.

Hey everyone, what's up?! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, etc... The trip is right around the corner. Josh got some Disney Dollars for the trip (to pay toward his ship account). He's very excited.

We bring several pharmacy-like things. Tums, Gas-x, hydrocortisone, bacitricin, motrin. As far as sea-sickness - they have tablets outside medical on deck 1. The medical facility is awesome. This I know first hand - Josh received 4 stitches in February when his eyebrow and a smaller girl's elbow collided. What an experience. We had to pay the bill and insurance took care of almost all of it. Take what you would take on any vacation, I say.

We haven't book any excursions. I think we may wing it this year. I do know you can usually book DCL excursions right up to the night before. Do your home work though - you sometimes can do something on your own. The islands are pretty safe. I just cannot wait to sit on a beach!!!

Johnna - how are you? You cute little lurker!

Well, I'll keep it short.

Rani, Michelle, Jennifer, Stephanie-
Did you guys give the kids self sign out ability when registering them for the lab. We go back and fourth with this each time, but firquered we have to do what you guys are doing if the kids do end up hitting it off and being friends and hang out together. For the little kids it is not an issue, but for the kids 8-12 we have to make that decision.

Hi Mrs. Keeper of the List, I was wondering where you were. I was beginning to wonder if you decided to sneek on the Wonder with TammyABC and dumped us........:rotfl2:

Thought I had better check in, since it has been awhile...I feel like I have been out of the Dis loop, I guess I need to stop being such a post slacker!!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Holiday break...it has been snowy and VERY COLD here, we still get one more week off from school, so the girls are loving it...
I came across the # to call about what movies are showing onboard (you may have seen it as well) it is 800-951-3532..
if I recall, I think I called them before we cruised last time..will probably call again this time once our date gets a little closer..will be happy to post if I find out what is playing:)

As far as packing the medicine cabinet...guilty as charged!!!!!! as a rule, I do pack far too much!!! but I always say, I would rather have it and NOT need it, then to not have it and need it LOL!!!!

Excursions....the only thing I have ressies for is the couples spa, we did this last time and loved it, so it was a must on our list of things to do:thumbsup2 last cruise we did the Butterfly Farm (not impressed) but afterwards we ended up at a beach just a ways from where the magic was docked...and loved it, we toke a water taxi back to the MAgic...really did work out nicely and we didn't have to worry about missing the boat!!!

Kids club....Kaylee 11 & Emily 14, will probably not be doingto much of the clubs, .. I will not be giving Kaylee sign out privilages, (nor do I think she would want them) last cruise the girls spend very little time in the clubs...they mostly hung out at the pool.

Johnna...of cousre you are missed!!!!!it is our hopes that not only are you a
lurker...but pehaps a stow-away as well!!!

Our date is getting closer and closer!!!!! Can't WAIT!!
I can't remember....is anyone staying at the Raddison the night before?

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend
Brenda:)

Tink,

We did not give Madison the choice to self-check out. I scares me to think what she would do with that kind of freedom. Madison would take that and run with it !!! I'm a holding on to her, yes, very tightly.

I can not wait for this vacation !

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy New Year to everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michelle

I didn't give my kids sign out ability.....everyone always jokes that I have to know where my kids are at all times --- except it's not a joke. I either want them supervised or with me on a mobile ship.....no 'king of the world' at the front of the ship for my kiddos! (I know, it's on the list of things they'll probably bring up to a therapist someday about how I ruined their lives....I'm prepared!)

I usually pack for everything that can happen -- including antibiotics and ear drops, pink eye ointment, other dreaded ointments you don't want to have to use on a trip, alcohol pads, so I guess I'll do the same here.

We're not doing any excursions...we're going to be beach bums and tourists who shop....I am bringing an virtually empty suitcase for souvenirs...

OMG - I am soooo excited I just can not wait!!!!

Rani

We are staying at the Country Inns & Suites. I looked into the Raddison but I got a great deal with Country Inns thru Hot Wire.

We are surprising Madison with a two night stay at the AKL then where are staying closer to the port one night. James wants to tour Kennedy Space Center.

We are renting a car to the port but James really likes the ideal of Disney taking us back to the airport after the cruise. We are flying Air Tran so we can get our boarding passes done but the best part is NO luggage. I still resevered a car in case we decided different. Disney's twice as much as a car.

We have not booked any excursions, I'm torn. I'd like to check out the beaches and the Islands but I'd think I'd like to stay on the ship too. How can we go to somewhere new and not explore ??

Sorry to ramble....

Michelle

Good morning! Our counter is down to 60 days!!! OMG!!!!

Another Nor'Easter is in the forcast for the next day or two. Oh Joy. At least I'll get to use my new snow shoes! Well, that will support our decision to fly out Firday morning 2/29 and stay at BCV with the tktstjohn. I cannot wait! My in-laws have DVC. Ask and you shall receive.

I would like to beach it but I want to DO something too. For St. Martin I think I would like to rent bicycles and bike to the beach. Disney is doing that as an excursion and you bike to Friar's Beach. I am looked into Cinnamon Beach in St. John. I read that you can kayak at Cinnamon Beach. I know you can get transportation on your own. I just don't want to pay DCL and get stuck with 40 other people.

I am going to get out the list to you all on the email list I have. If you haven't received an email from me in the past, PM me so that I can add you!

Have a great day....

Hi Mrs. Keeper of the List, I was wondering where you were. I was beginning to wonder if you decided to sneek on the Wonder with TammyABC and dumped us........:rotfl2:

I am on the other side of this equation. We have not given sign out privileges to Grace (7) obviously. But last year on our three day cruise we gave Audrey(10 now) sign out privileges under the following terms. When she was ready to leave she was to page us. She was then to go from the club directly to our room, do not pass go/do not collect $200. If she were to break from this policy she would lose the sign out privilege as well as have a very sad time for the next few days with the no swimming policy I would have instituted. On the first day I made Audrey learn the route to our room, and then made her take me on it a few times. She never strayed, and she earned our respect. I could always tell that she was very proud of herself for following thru. I think that this is a personal decision, that should be decided by each family to each individual child.

Sorry I haven't been here much, but I am getting really excited for the trip.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!!

OOPS I almost forgot!!! We have been chronically behind on video projects lately but, my husband has been using this time off for the holidays to catch up. Here is the link to our 2006 cruise video:

(Kim you might find yourself in here)

Enjoy, also while on our page you can check out our 2007 WDW/DCL trip. I think there might also be stuff there from our first cruise in 2004.

I have a distant cousin I've never met who works there as one of the characters and is authorized to sign Mickey's signature -- so I think I'll have to find a way to make contact with her and see if we can meet up.....

New Years just doesn't hold a candle to the cruise coming up!

Anybody else have problems with the boards tonight? I have had at least two problems:

(1) Can not get to the Chat room. Every time I click on chat, I just get either some coding error or a blamk page.

(2) Conflicts between what my User CP says the last post was for this thread, and what is actually shown when I come to this thread. The User CP indicates that the last post was by Feiste after 9 PM today, and on the thread I see the last post as being by Micday after 7 PM.

My apologies if you held a Chat session and I missed out.

- Mike

total problems with the boards --- they must be on vacation...while we're waiting for our vacation!

I had problems even getting on.. Since they updated the server on Friday, it has not been right yet. The chat boards have been closed since Friday. I posted a thread on Tech. support and they gave me a new chat link which does not work either. They then mailed me back, to say they are aware and working on it. So we have to reschedule our chat for once they are up running again.

DS has been wondering about Audrey, she has not sent pictures for some time.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
Talk with you in 2008

YES!!!! total frustration on the boards tonight...I thought that it was just me and my computer :badpc:
