I read in another post that you can use your Disney Visa to buy points and get 0%?

Is this the starter percentage rate or for old Disney Visa members?

Beth

I think it's 0% only on the 10% down payment. Something like that. You do not get 0% on the whole purchase price.

Special financing on Disney Vacation Club.
Get 0% APR for 6 months on 10% up to $2,500 on your Disney Vacation Club down payment or add-on purchase.4

4 Developer financing approval is not guaranteed. See Disney Vacation Club Public Offering Statement for important information. If you use your Disney Rewards Visa Card in making a downpayment in the purchase of a real estate interest in a Disney Vacation Club Resort or an additional Disney Vacation Club Ownership Interest, the Daily Periodicc Rate for the first 6 billing cycles following the date of the purchase is a promotional fixed APR of 0% provided that no payment on your account is past due at the time of purchase. The rate will apply to that portion of your initial downpayment or add on purchase price charged to your Disney Rewards Visa Card up to $2,500 or 10% of your total purchase price, whichever is less. After this promotional period, the applicable APR for purchases specified in your cardmember agreement will take effect on any Disney Vacation Club purchase balance remaining on your Disney Rewards Visa Card account. The 0% APR does not apply to Disney Vacation Club purchases made using any checks that access your account. Subject to these restrictions, use of your Disney Rewards Visa Card for Disney Vacation Club initial downpayment or add on purchases are subject to the same terms and conditions, including rate and fees, as qualified Disney vacation package purchases. Offer good through 9/30/07.

Be careful. I don't know about this one for sure, but most of these CC offers have a condition that any monthly payments made apply to the balance with the lowest interest rate first.

Suppose you normally pay your CC bill in full every month. You decide to take advantage of this promotion and charge $2500. You also charge $300 in regular CC charges for the month.

You get your statement and pay $700. Note the whole $700 will go toward the $2500 balance and nothing toward the $300 balance which could be at an interest rate of 18% or more. This could last for several months until the full $2500 was paid, thus racking up some significant CC interest charges.

Check to see if this is the case with this offer. If it is, and you elect to use it, then don't use the card for any other charges until the $2500 is paid.

Just FYI.

Caskbill makes a good point. The 0% sounds great but in my experience with CC's (too much:confused3 ) the payment usually goes to the 0% balance until paid off leaving the other balances to accrue interest. You can ask for the payment to go to the interest balance---I have done that with Home Depot and it works but it seems like too much work:goodvibes
I have tried to only use the 0% rate with a card with no balance or very low balance.
One question--- Does the Disney card accrue interest if the balance is not paid in 6 months then add it ? That is always another consideration

No it doesn't. Also you are right about the pymt processing. It happened to us.

First I think this was a mistake but a good one for me so you must all promise to keep quite :lmao:
I did an add on of 50 points and for some reason disney split this into two charges one of which was 2,500..the other was less :rotfl: the 2,500 for some reason is getting the 0% interest for the 6 months.. anyway I did take advantage of this (promised to update a thread I strted as I was skeptical from previous experiences) --It is working I opaid my balance minus the 2,500 last month and this month my statement still has this under the 0% this month I will try paying some of the balance of the 2,500 and see what happens. With that said if you only have the 0% promotion yes you need to make a minimum paymant if one is listed on the statement or you will be paying interest all of what is described above or most has happened to me with them charging interest using my paymnet towrds the promotion first etc.. It would seem that Chase has worked out some of the kinks or at least for some of its card members

I did this with my VAK add on. Since it was two contracts I got the 0% on both of them (I think the 2,500 is per transaction)

I continue to use the card. I pay ALL new charges in full every month plus 1/6th of the DVC charge. I think this is about the 3rd month? (Don't have the info here, it's at home) I do know on my last bill I had not been charged any interest on the card.

It worked perfectly fine for me too.
I've paid off all other monthly charges since I purchased AKL and a little extra. The extra money went towards the Promo balance.

I used it for our down payment and read the fine print very carefully. I too, was worried about the trap of paying down the lowest interest balances first and leaving my everyday purchases to incur charges. However, that's not how this works. All you have to do is pay your "new balance" less your "promotional balance." Ex. if you charge $2500 for your down payment (the max allowed for the promo), and then charge $2000 in monthly expenses. Your statement will show a total new balance of $4500. You then pay $2900 when your payment is due and you will have paid your monthly charges as well as $400 towards your promotional balance, WITHOUT any finance charges.

Hope that helps!
