~ºoº November 27, 2010- Western Magic! ºoº~

:goodvibes:banana: Morning fellow cruising peeps! :cool1:

Thanks to all the Veterans and current active duty members out there for your service. Remembering those that are no longer with us, including my Dad. There is a wonderful story about my Dad who managed to escape from a train after being taken captive on the island of Leros during WWII. They were being transported and he and one other managed to escape off the train through a hole they made in the wooden floor. They were in Yugoslavia at that time, and were helped by a native Yugoslavian to get back to safety. His name was Zenko and about 20 years ago, Zenko's son managed to trace my Dad and they were reunited. It's just a "feel good" story I thought I'd share today.

Here's my random answers to some random stuff asked/talked about...

CC 5K - We have talked about doing this. I jog/walk and DH would run it. That is his actual 40th birthday, so we weren't sure what we will want to do about breakfast that day - it's a "maybe" for us. :thumbsup2

Snorkel/Dive- We are doing the 3 stop tour with Capt. Marvins in the Caymans. Looking for good (non-chilly) weather! :worship:

Cozumel - We are doing the Mexican cuisine workshop through DCL, possibly some meandering at port - should I be concerned with only having dollars? I really don't want to have to use my CC down there - our Visa is linked to our checking, and my only other CC is an Amex. Any advice?

And...drumroll plleeeeaaaazzee - I am joining Tonya in the DONE club!! My FE gifts are all done and boxed ready to ship!! :dance3:

I'm working on my packing lists today - planning to get started on packing this weekend and finish up at the end of the week - I can't believe that we leave for WDW next week, after 18 months of planning! :woohoo:

Anyone at WDW during Thanksgiving week??? I don't have my schedule out that far yet, but I am a cast member at Expedition Everest at DAK. Stop by and say hi. I generally work Mon, Fri and Sat, but won't be working Sat Nov 27th since WE'RE GOING ON A CRUISE!!!!!

I will be heading back to the job that I love tomorrow after a rough few weeks with my dad. Trying to figure out my new "normal".

Safe travels everyone.

Stephanie B

we did the 5k in June, it's not a "race" like some people are probably thinking...a cm stands at the map with you and tells you the route and then everyone just starts running, (he runs too) and you finish when you finish. there isn't really a starting line or finish line. It was SO HUMID and hot when we did it it was pretty miserable (and we are distance runners running the full marathon in january haha)
we got a water bottle for finishing, but I have heard some crusies didn't get it or got a certificate or something. We only did it b/c we were on the double dip but since we only have one day on CC i want to be at the beach as long as possible!

Thanks for posting. We figured (and hoped) Tangled would be onboard...I would bet in the Walt Disney theater one night. Last year we saw Bolt and Princess and the Frog in there. We actually were onboard for the prem'ear' of Princess and the Frog-too much fun at 12:01am!

Based on our last 2 years of cruising in late Nov/early Dec, Christmas movies should be playing on our stateroom tv's as well. We always turn on to watch Christmas Story run in a loop all night long.

Jenny - Thanks so much for posting that story about your dad. That is wonderfully inspirational! You just reminded me that I need to tell my hubby happy Veteran's Day. Oh, and congrats on finishing you FE's!!

Stephanie B - That's so cool to be a CM!! I was even trying to see if we could go to WDW before the cruise, but to do so would mean boocoo $$, so I think we'll have to wait and plan accordingly.

Dawn- Thanks for posting the movies!! Any personal reviews on these?? Like, which are must-see's?

Heather - Thanks for posting. I definitely plan to run it (need to get a few good cardio workouts in while away). :)

question. is a purse considered a carry on, or can I have a carry on and a purse? I think i had a purse too this summer but I honestly cannot remember!

I'm carrying a back pack for my "personal item" on the plane and then a drag on. I will have a purse on the way back when I buy that new Dooney and Bourke purse on board. :cool1: My DH always carries a jump bag from the Army as his carry on. I swear that man can get 3 days worth of clothes in there and its small.

Heather, thanks for posting about the 5k. It looks like fun. The heat down there in December will be minimal. And if you get too hot just go jump in the water on the adult beach as you run by. (I wanted to say as we all ran by but I know without a doubt, I will be bringing up the rear on this one.) I have never been on the bike path so that will be a new adventure for me. I just have to remember to bring my camera.

Well the love affair continues with the white out. I had to take a break because my eyes were crossing. I better get back at it since I only have 9 more days of work, if you count the office. 11 if you count both jobs.

Have as great day All.

I love cruising at this time of year and remember that too. I remember watching Its a Wonderful Life over and over again and loving it. I usually always go beginning of December too and love the christmas festivities!

Dang- I won't be there the week of Thanksgiving, going on the Magic for the Thanksgiving cruise with my two youngest until the rest of my family arrives for this cruise, but I will be in WDW after....just not sure of the dates yet, and we may just have a day to do Epcot and maybe the MNSSHP party. LOL

Again, so sorry for the rough weeks and the loss of your dad. I hope this cruise will be able to help your family heal a little.

OMG, Stephanie, for a minute I thought we were on the same cruise!!! But I think I figured out that you were on the Wonder...we were on the Magic! We had also figured that since they prem 'eared' Princess and the Frog, they would do the same with Tangled! So excited!!!:banana:

I was telling Sulley about it and we thought it might be fun to do...but we would definitely be walkers! So we'd be right there with you too! Sounds like lots of fun if nothing else!!!

We've seen Up and Princess and the Frog...loved them both! Up made me cry. I've heard nothing but good about Toy Story 3 and can't wait to see it. Heard mixed reviews about Alice, not sure if I want to see it or not. I am so excited about Tangled based on the previews I've seen, looks hysterical!!!

Oh, the 5K sounds so tempting! If it weren't for my arthritic knees and the pavement running, I might just join everyone! Does anyone know if they have stationary bikes in the fitness center? I ride 5 to 10 miles a day (knee punishment, I know, but I love biking) and really do not want to let that go to the wayside (although I will probably only ride every other day).

Wow, everyone is just moving along with FEs! I keep thinking I'm done with those, but in reality all the parts are finished, I just have not packed them up in bags yet. (And I'm cheating a bit...everything goes into one bag per stateroom...ugh!)

Started with the packing this afternoon! Tried on clothes (2 dresses I expected to take are now too big! 3 dresses I thought I wouldn't be taking now fit!) and started putting together my piles of what goes, what may go, and what needs to be put in the back of the closet.

16 DAYS!!!!!!!

So you can walk with us other 'non-runners!' I can't run due to a knee injury and Sulley has arthritis in the toes! :rotfl: sorry, I should not laugh, but the toes? Truly, I  the man.

Congrats on the too small dresses now fitting!!! That's the best!!!

I liked Up. I think it is definately worth seeing. It might be a little more "adult" than most of the other animated shows. Toy Story is probably the worse of the three but it is still a stellar movie.

We're all looking forward to tangled. It's on DS's list of stuff he is going to do on the cruise.

I'm a bit suprised Secrateriat isn't showing. Glad we caught that a couple of weeks ago.
