~ºoº November 27, 2010- Western Magic! ºoº~

Welcome Annabel! No kiddos for us - but hopefully someone else can steer you in the right direction.

We're thinking of booking capt marvin's half or full day excursion in Grand Cayman.

Gailyn - We booked the half day direct wth Capt Marvins - got the confirmation yesterday. :goodvibes The full day sounded awesome - especially as it includes lunch, but I was nervous about packing our day so full. I'll be interested to hear what Capt Marvins tells you though incase we change our minds. ;)

Annabel-

Our kids will be 3.5 (Lauren) and 6 (jeremy). We are also traveling with 2 other families. There is a 4 year old boy and a girl who will be turning 4 during the trip. There will be lots of kids for Baron to play with!

Stephanie

Jenny & Scott - Thanks for the welcome. We were huge Disney fans, long before the little guy came along. Good to know that there are others that don't need kids to have an excuse to go Disney. :)

Stephanie - we're still trying to talk some families into joining us. Regardless, I'm looking forward to meeting and introducing Baron to your little ones!

BTW - anyone flying into MCO the day of? Just curious since I've seen so many who are saying that we MUST get there the night before. Our direct flight lands in MCO at 11 am, and we've hired a limo service to take us directly to the boat.

Ahh - decisions, decisions! We are now PIF :cool1: I booked 1 spa treatment but Palo's for brunch is not available. Oh well - will keep checking. I thought I was was definite on the Dolphin Swim at Chankanaab and Moby Dick or some tour company for Grand Cayman - however the Fury Catamaran sounds like fun too! Too much pressure

Welcome to all the new people! Saoirse- congrats on twins! I did cruise at about 16 weeks and had no issues - hopefully you will too. I did bring those seasick wrist bands but not sure if they did anything - wasn't really bothered by it though so maybe they worked!

I'm guessing we will be. We are using Disney Air but last time we were on a flight that arrived at 1:00pm on the day of. That is one of the reasons that I pay extra for Disney air. I'm hoping that if the flight is delayed, they will do their best to get me on the ship.

Annabel,

We will be cruising with our 4 year old Brec and our 2 year old Ashton. Brec is looking forward to being back in the kids club. I'm sure Brec would love to play with Baron.

Christina

Guess I'll just need to keep my fingers crossed that Southwest will get me there on time.

Christina - thank you!! Can't wait to meet you all!

We are flying in the day before just in case of any unforeseen delays and our flights get bumped to the next morning, this way we have a chance of getting on the ship and not missing it.

Not sure where you are from, but we are in CT, so bad weather can definitely affect flights in late November. I'd rather pay for a hotel the night before to have a little bit of peace of mind. :goodvibes

I hear you. We're from St. Louis where the weather can be tricky, depending on how the wind is blowing that day (or hour). We had to weigh between possibly missing the boat or the hassle of putting our 3-yo (and us) through flight, hotel, transfer and boat within 24 hours. Hassle won. Since we're on the 1st flight out, I'm hoping that SWA will put us on another early flight if they have a cancellation. Fingers & toes crossed.

Welcome Annabel & Family:

We are from Springfield, Mo. It was nice to see another family from Missouri cruising.

All is well here other than having 8-10 inches of rain last week (puts a damper on soccer) and them forecasting another 2-8 tonight and tomorrow (major damper on soccer). As you can tell soccer is our life. We coordinate the referees for a couple leagues here in Springfield.

My countdown for the cruise begins on Monday. Its "D" Day (i.e. Diet Day) for me.

I hope all is well with everyone. If I don't get on again, have a great weekend.

Thanks, Tonya! The rain (nor heat) hasn't been kind northeast of you either. Between the crazy winter last year and the morbid heat this summer, I think my DS thinks the "great oudoors" is the mall or the Magic House ... and my utility bills should be turned into a 2nd mortgage.

Looking forward to meeting fellow Missourians on the boat (although we're probably still Texans at heart, even though we've lived in TX, MO, OH & MN). You know what they say ... once a Texan, always a Texan. :) And ... when we all actually meet, you'll never guess which one is me. Promise. Hehe.

Take care!

Annabel

We are booked at the hyatt the night before the cruise but like every year i'm starting to itch to be at WDW that night. The fact that we have annual passes this year makes me all the more itchy. I checked on availability today and nothing on points but a decent discount using either DVC or AP rates. Booked a room at BCV just in case we decide to go that route but found out that no park is open past 10 p.m. that night so by the time we got there, we'd only have 4-5 hours total. Hmmmm. decisions decisions.

Jeff, Epcot has EMH the evening of the 26th, until 12:30 a.m. :)

Aaaaahhhh -- I must have misread the list of hours - I thought it said EMH started at 7 p.m. and would be over at 10 (which I found odd) but that changes everything. Looks like BCV here we come!

Is there a list of kids and their ages? DD and DS are interested in finding a couple "pin pals" before the cruise. They really enjoyed this on our last cruises and it helped them feel like they had some friends on board :).

DD Nicole is 12 and DS Matthew is 11.

All for now,
Gailyn:goodvibes

Hi, Our son is 13 D'Morea and he would think that's cool. I think they will all be in the tween area for 11-13 year olds. Trust me, I have not heard the end of that one yet about the "elder" in the group but I think it will be cool.

If you want respond here or pm and they can facebook or e-mail.

Looking forward to the cruise.

Reading boards and now debating our Cozumel choice. Is there more to do with the Fury excursion that I thought? Looked like beach and some water blow up stuff.

Right now, we booked Xel-Ha due to the river tubing which looked very neat and my ds 13 wanted to cliff jump.

But with the ferry ride, you only get 5 hours at the park and mexico security is definately a concern.

Has anyone done Xel-ha to comprare?

a number of years ago (before kids) we were in Cancun and went to Xel-Ha for a day. It was very fun but it's also a "park" where you snorkel in a contained area - not the open ocean - so it's a bit more contrived. Now this was probably 14 years ago so perhaps I'm misremembering. But I am not sure I'd take the long ferry ride to do this when there are great beaches and snorkeling right in Cozumel and the adventure park where you can zip line (though not over the jungle).

Survived the tropical storm here in Texas despite the drenching :thumbsup2

We are debating what we will have time to do the morning of departure day. Seems that the cruise buses pick up from WDW about 11-noon but the parks will be crazy-crowded from the holiday weekend and so we'll probably have a nice lazy morning at the hotel. May as well kick the cruise off the right way - lazy and eating :rotfl2:

It's good to see all the activity and chatter on here as we edge closer and closer. :woohoo:

Thanks for the input, I will definately talk to ds and dh about it. I read about a bunch of issues with seasickness and the ferry so I have some reservations there.

Have never snorkled so I would need help to know what to do. Was more interested in floating down the river in a tube. We also looked at the secret river excursion which gets great reviews but after an MRI last year I have become claustrophobic. (funny for a girl who used to curl up in a closet to read)
