ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

So, how close is everyone now?? We're down to 18 days :cool1:, and I know there were lots of folks leaving even sooner.

I think we must be one of the last to leave. We leave home on the 22nd, have one night in Syracuse, then arrive in Orlando on the 23rd. We check in four weeks from today :) .

The newest "projections".

Most computer models bring Dorian near the Dominican Republic by Tuesday. However, dry air could do a number on the system causing it to fall apart before then. It is much too early to speculate about any potential impacts on the United States mainland late next week.

You can always see the latest tropical updates by visiting Hurricanes 101, or by downloading the free STORMTRACK 3 Mobile Weather App to your iPad, iPhone, or Android device.

Still, it won't be until after the weekend until you can get a better track of this thing, but I encourage rather than "not worrying about what you can't control", think about the things you can control and what you can do to ensure you are prepared in any circumstance.

Anyone with experience with these storms can tell you, the only thing than panicking too early is not being prepared at all and realizing it when it's too late.

It is not quite so bad for us, but we leave for our beach vacation on the 10th and return on the 17th. I unpack, do laundry, re-pack, and drive to Disney on the 20th.

Three of my least favorite things- packing, unpacking and laundry.

Anyone doing a live report? Would love that to get me through the next couple of weeks :goodvibes

9 days!! Eek! I have got to start packing. I hope to see lots of pictures from everyone's trips.

I am looking to purchase water bottles for my DH and myself. At first I was going to buy the insulated ones to try to keep the water cold. I could always refill at the parks. Then someone mentioned the bobble water bottles. They are the ones that filter the water but are not insulated. The person was saying you could get cups of water and fill it up and it would filter the water. So I guess my real question is do I are if I have filtered water or do I care more if I have cold water. I think cold water is more important. What experience do all of you have with either of these water bottles?

Have you seen the bobble bottles in person? I checked them out at Target the other day and didn't care for them. The plastic is thin (like those for bottled water) and seems like it would crack easily. For me, filtered water is more important, so I was planning on getting a Brita water bottle. When I had one years ago, the plastic was sturdy and long-lasting.

No, I have not actually seen them so that you for telling me about the quality. It would not be good if one broke while there and that is a good possibility since I have 2 small children. I will look into the Brita water bottle. Thanks for the rec!

Whew!!! I thought I'd be the only one left here by then. I didn't want to be lonely ;) .

The good thing for all you late August-goers is that when we're back with the post-Disney blues, your trip will still be ahead of you :thumbsup2

Actually, I'll be in pretty good shape since I'm heading back in February, but I know my kids'll be bummed when we return. Not to mention school will start for them the following Monday :(

Not thinking about that yet though :goodvibes

We get back from driving 20 hours on Friday and I go to work (teacher) Monday. :( Talk about wishing summer away looking forward to this trip!

I'm the 25th - 31st too. I'm so jealous of these single digit-ers, but I'm hoping Disney will make the end of August super special! :cool1:

The few of us that are left at the end of August are going to have to work VERY hard to keep up the swift pace of this thread in the absence of the others!

We arrive back on the 31st (the Saturday night), and Jake will start back to school on the Tuesday. We have a little bit of a buffer if we come home exhausted and need a day or two to recuperate :) . I must admit that I'm kind of ambivalent about the start of this school year in particular. My "baby" is in grade 12 :sad1:. The year will be full of graduation preparations, from photos to college and university tours to scholarship applications. Its exciting and sad all at the same time. And its all going to go by soooo fast!

We check in at CBR on the 24th but we are arriving in Orlando on the 15th! And lucky me gets to go and see Paul McCartney on the 14th and we have a 6 am flight! We however only live about 5 minutes from the airport so we can leave home around 4am! Oh well at least we get into Orlando around 3 so have the rest of the afternoon to settle in and have a look around.

Good luck on your job interview!! We are also checking into CBR in 20 days!!

Thank you! I'm relieved its done and now it's just the wait time that'll kill me lol! Ahh just to make my packing lists to pass the time!

Maybe we'll catch you at the pool one day!

I recommend Camelbak water bottles. They have both filter and non-filter versions of the water bottles, and they keep your water cold for much longer than any other bottle I've ever owned.

Anyone here own a Fitbit? I just got a Flex, and I really love it so far. I'm excited to see just how many steps I'm taking each day, especially when we get to Disney, since we do so much walking there. It's also surprisingly comfortable to wear and waterproof, so you never have to take it off except to charge it every 5 days or so, and it measures your sleep too.

We are the 25th - 29th (OKW). Can't wait!!!!! Starting to get real.

Ok, here's a question for you...... I have annual passes and we take day trips to Disney at least once per month. We live less than 2 hours away. So is it completely stupid that I am THIS excited about taking an actual vacation there?

Not stupid at all! Day trips are totally different than a full on vacation!
