ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

I'm thinking of getting some bandana type ones to try before we go. There are some other brands that have ones I like better as they are just a band you tie around your neck but I don't know if they are as good. I will get that brand and Frogg Toggs to try out before we go and see if which are better. Any edge over the heat would be good. :thumbsup2

Good idea. I want to get those mist spray bottle fan things- my kids would love them, but would also probably destroy them- very quickly. Lol

We had some bandanas the first august we went, they ended up rather cumbersome to carry around and were ditched in the room after our first few days unused. We found a face cloth chilled in ice water before use works just as easily and i think we'll just get a couple regular bandanas to do this with this time.

We bought a fan mister in the parks that worked well when we had a stroller to keep it in, it becomes somewhat heavy otherwise.

Last year i found a mister at our local camping store, its small, but lasts a long time and isn't heavy to carry. This year i plan to pick up one more of them as they were only $6 at bass pro shops. Can't remember the name of it but it's blue and has a pump motion.

Most of these are on free dining, but 3 will be out of pocket. Free Dining only covers us the 18th-23rd -- would Sci-Fi lunch be the cheapest? The reservations on the 24th I will have to pay for.

Did you have a PIN code? Do you have a separate reservation for the second half of your stay. Normally as long as you check in during free dining it extends to your whole stay?:confused3

So we are officially 49 days away from our trip and tomorrow we can ALL say that we are going to Disney NEXT MONTH so my mom, brother and I decided to celebrate by watching Wall-E! :goodvibes

I'm getting excited now! :woohoo:

I have it on my android. I purchased the pro version... I can't remember why, I think for no ads? Love the lay out, and at least here at home with my wonderful Wi-Fi it loads super quickly. Characters are a big part of this trip - we're doing a character meal every day! It's what DD is looking forward to most.

Kenny also posted that Sofia is more likely to first appear in August now (August 11), instead of July. I was worried she'd be a limited time character, but now even if she is, she should be there for our trip! Yay! We're going to get Character Wasted! :rotfl2:

My source now also says that Sopfia's official start day is Aug 11 and will be replacing Handy Manny, But the better news is there is a new orange slush available at Cosmic Rays:banana:

Woooo!!! ' we're 47 days away and we celebrated with a Mickey bowl full of ice cream and strawberries and tangled!

Thanks, pigletto :goodvibes .

Had a wonderful day yesterday at the Falls. We're on the top floor in a beautiful loft room with a gorgeous view from our balcony:

And we even had a little "Disney-like" touch waiting for us. Yep, a towel animal......first time in all of our stays at the lodge!

Today, more waterparking and Clifton Hill!

Suitcases are out and in use as we speak, but not for our Florida trip. We usually only break them out a week or so before we leave (otherwise, our cat gets pretty stressed and silly as it sounds, we don't like to upset the old girl). I do have a tote in our closet where we're accumulating some of our travel stuff, so its all in one spot when packing time comes.

We were a little disappointed too. But this still works out okay for us (and our teen DS is thrilled....the less early he has to get up, the better, in his opinion :rotfl:). We did check Buffalo rates for our travel dates and they were higher than SYR (though the opposite was true for our Christmas vacation..........funny how it really just depends). We enjoy flying from both airports so either option is viable for us! Both are much, much easier (and wayyyy more affordable) than flying from Toronto.
Gina!! Do you know how many times I've been to GWL and I have NEVER seen that there was an outdoor pool?:rotfl:
I guess it's because it's always something we do in the winter. Now that I think of it, I guess I knew it was there, but I've never been outside to see it!
How was the hill today? Busy I bet. We were just down the river last night at my inlaws cottage for a big fireworks show. It went on so long I actually went in the house. It was fun at first but then a lot of the neighbours had waaayyy too much to drink so we took the kids inside. Nevermind that they started at 8:30 and were still lighting them off at almost midnight:rolleyes:. The first little while was a lot of fun though:) We went out on the boat today, then to my parents for swimming and my moms birthday dinner. I am actually looking forward to doing absolutely nothing tomorrow:cloud9:

Well fellow Disney planners. We're almost in the home stretch aren't we? My package is due to be paid off next week and then we just enjoy the summer until it's time to go:goodvibes

Hi Seneca! We're excited about our upcoming trip! Please add us (hope I'm doing this right):

No because I booked POR with the bounceback offer last year. The last two days I added later and are room only at CR.

But my question is really about the first part of the trip. FD gives us only 6 sit down meals, and I have 7 reservations between the 19th and the 23rd. I would guess that the cheapest one is lunch at Sci-Fi -- meaning that would be the best one to pay for out of pocket. Does that make sense, or would another of those be cheaper? I guess I could look up the menus, but you know -- laziness.

I'd try your Sci Fi lunch or Sanaa dinner. Compare just those two menus. My guess would be the Sci fi lunch would be the cheapest. Sanaa is pretty reasonably priced for Disney as well. All depends on what you plan to order.:)

Thanks! I checked, and yes, both of those seem to be good options. We aren't big meat eaters and if we do eat meat we stick to chicken or turkey. Those, plus the vegetarian items seem to be comparable, so it looks like I could pay for either without being too strapped. :goodvibes

ETA: on second look it seems Sanaa might be the better option. The things we like to eat are more on the appetizer and side dish parts of the menu, and those are quite reasonably priced!

We watched the Disney planning DVD yesterday. My kids and I made my husband watch it too. That was a first!

28 more days for us! Started pulling things out to pack yesterday. Discovered one mister fan is broken. Guess I have an excuse to go shopping today.

Yay I hope this is legit! Sophia/doc are on ALL THE TIME! What is taking so long? ! Is this for the H & S meals or the live show?

PS- I don't think my kid will care about autographs. *Gasp-*......I know!!!! He is terrible at waiting.

A guy I know just came back from Disney with second degree sunburns covering his legs! His wife is fine and remarks on what fun they had, so I don't think he was aware of it as it happened.
I am soooo super concerned about sunburn. I know that we will bathe in 75SPF sun lotion and wear hats - as of right now everyone in my family wears hats at Disney. One of my medications makes me photosensitive - super easy burns, guess I will have to reapply regularly. Can I pack those big 20oz bottles of sunscreen in my checked luggage or should I have it shipped to my resort?

You will be able to put the sunscreen in your checked luggage. I think the biggest problem people make are when they use the spray sunscreens outside....the wind blows it and you can't get even coverage. If you lather up before you get dressed and then reapply every few hours, you will be fine.

We're in Epcot on the 19th as well! Let me know if you're planning to meet up - I think that would be so much fun!

Add us to the EPCOT on the 19th party, too!

We are in EPCOT on the 19th too!

Ok, so far it looks like the four of us will be in Epcot on the 19th!! We don't have any ADRs that day (we are going to eat around the world). What is a good time frame for everyone? Anyone else I am missing?

I have a QOTD, providing it hasn't been asked yet in the posts I may have missed in these 39 pages -- ARE YOUR SUITCASES OUT YET??

No, our suitcases are not out yet. We are going to London in a few weeks so after we come back there will be about three weeks before our Disney trip. At that point I will probably keep them out and start thinking about packing.
