ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

37 days to go!!! It cannot come soon enough. Funny story...only my son (17) can go to theater camp and I get a phone call today that he twisted his ankle, fell, and was bleeding pretty badly- might need stitches...LONG story short, he is ok. He has a sprained ankle and had a puncture wound from falling on something, thus the blood (but didn't need stitches) and all I could think of is that he had better not broken his ankle, as I was not going to push him around in a wheelchair at Disney!!

He got a lead in the summer musical production, (of How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying)too, but his part is not dance heavy, thank god. So, I'm going to officially wrap my clumsy kid in a bubble....I would LOVE to blame it on DH, but he totally takes after me:thumbsup2

Poor guy. I hope he feels better soon. I do love this story though.

A heads up to anyone who will be there over Labor Day weekend. A touring plan is a must! I just checked the crowd calendar for that weekend and it's supposed to be a 9 on the Sunday and an 8 on the Monday.
Last weekend MK was VERY busy on the Sunday and this year should be even busier. I know we hear all the time how wonderful Labor Day weekend is. It USED TO BE. It's gotten steadily busier every year, and if you are in the MK on Sunday it's going to be a madhouse. Especially in light of the Fantasyland Expansion.
It's not impossible, but it is busy that weekend and I think you need to pick your park carefully, plan your day, and be there early.

Just a bit of advice because it's better to have a plan than no plan in that heat.:) If you get there and don't need it, I will happily be wrong. But a 9 is a busy busy day, so you might as well be prepared.:)

Can I ask where you saw the 9s for that weekend. It has been awhile since I looked at any crowd calendars for that weekend, but not any that I looked at showed a 9. I saw a 7 and a 6. Just wondering if I should adjust somethings. We were at HS last year on Columbus Day. It was packed and I was cranky. We left for a bit to swim at the pool, then went back in the evening. Thinking we might have to do the same.

When we went in 2010 it was dead that week/weekend. It was great although the temps were higher than expected in the mid to upper 90's all week long. I'm looking forward to crowds lower than what we had at Thanksgiving.

Just ordered our PP+ card. By the looks of things I think we'll have all of our tip money on our Disney Rewards Dollars. Need to get some of those cooling towel things too...:scratchin

I have been wanting to get those cooling towels as well. Where is a good place to find them? And what are they called? Thanks.

52 days out! so excited! We are going to upgrade our 10 day MYW tickets to Annual Passes when we get there!

47 days!

I try to play it cool when someone asks when my vacation is and I even pretend not to know exactly the number of days until my trip. Inside I am so freaking excited that I can barely function.

38 days here!! I spend too much time stressing about the possibility of FP+ to be too excited, plus I'm trying not to wish my summer away (I work in a school.) Looked at touring plans today and considered changing which park which day but then decided against it.

We are at 57 days today. Most days I am excited as can be. Today, I am more stressed than anything. It is our first time there and I don't want to overlook something I should be planning. I also am second guessing everything that I have planned, because, we haven't been there, so are the things I am planning the "right" things for us? So, the closer I get, the more stressed I am becoming. Trying to relax, but it isn't easy.

I feel very much like this! I have been planning this trip since before Christmas, and now that it is a reality I am second guessing everything. I think we should trust everyone here, and know that we will have an amazing time! :thumbsup2

58 days for us!!! We are so excited, especially my kids. I made a countdown chain link, which I got from someone on the DIS. I have the links tacked to the top of the wall in my dining room. We started it when we had 115 days to go and it came down my wall and wrapped around the floor in a circle twice. Well....yesterday the link got off the floor. We were so excited!

I do this too! My neighbor asked me yesterday how much longer and I said "Hmm I think somewhere in the 60s" but inside my head I was yelling "61! 61! 61!"

I started seriously planning right before Christmas, and I know it's just a vacation, but I've put so much time and energy into it that I feel like if it's not nonstop fun then I fail, especially since it's DH and the kids first time, and my sister and dad are coming for the first time in almost 20 years. But I know we will have meltdowns and not be able to do everything, and we will still enjoy our stay.

We started a countdown at 142 days (then I ran out of paper hahaha) and we put a tack in every 14th chain so it wouldn't be on the floor where the baby could get it - and it was easier to count by weeks that way too. It was all the way across our rec room wall, now it's closer to a third. It's so exciting to take a link off each morning!

Everyone at work already knows I know exactly how many days and will ask me where we're at every few days :)

50 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!:woohoo::hyper: We are so excited we have been planning this trip since Sept. lol.

We booked ours as a bounce back in September. It felt like forever, but now we're getting close! Can't wait for July 1st, so we can say we're going next month!

Does anyone know if doing online check-in early increases your chances of getting your requests as opposed to waiting until 30 or so days out?

I checked Touring Plans today and the numbers had gone up since the last time I checked. Interestingly I felt like last Labour Day weekend (Sunday) was a 9 at the MK. It was soooo busy. We waited in line for 45 minutes for POC. The line was a good 20 minutes outside before it even moved inside:eek:. That had never ever happened to me before in that week.
When I came home I checked Touring Plans and I think they said it was a 6 or something like that. I remember saying to my husband there was no way it was a 6 that day. I think they've adjusted this years numbers based on last years.
MK has EMH until 2am Sunday night..so they are expecting heavy crowds.

Did i miss the date??

This thread is getting hard to keep up with lol!

Ann and I both have an adr for 1900 Park Fare. Can't remember the date. August 23rd I think.

WE ARE FINALLY BOOKED! I know that probably seems weird lol but DH kept waiting and waiting and waiting for airfare to go down. I saw cheap flights into Tampa and a cheap car rental that we should have jumped on last week but he was convinced that flying directly into Orlando was going to get cheaper. Well, it didn't lol but we missed out on the cheap flights and airfare to Tampa so we just booked with JetBlue (knowing that if the flights get cheaper, we'll be given a credit and I'll have enough miles to get a free flight next time! Woo!)

Anywho, I didn't book the hotel because I was waiting for him to book the flights so finally! Everything is done! Now we just have to get out tickets (DH gets a little bit of a discount through work) and we are all set to go!
