Oh no!!! Hopefully she will be better by Monday. Lots of rest and fluids for you both!!!

Hey, I just noticed that you and I have the same ADR's for the 20th at Akershus and the 22nd at O'Hana's!! If you see me, please say hi!!! :wave2:
Yes, we will meet you at Akershu's! That will be fun! I will have my LGMH on my back pack. Then we will know you so we can catch up at O'Hanna's.

So sorry to hear :worried: . Hope you both feel better soon!!!

Thank you both for the get well wishes. She's got a 100.6 fever this morning. More Advil. I feel better at lease 'cause I have to clean my house for my guests. They will be here this evening.

:offtopic:Just picked up DD9 from school at 1:30. She's got a fever, stomachache and headache. We have a cook-out planned for Monday with lots of people coming. Really hoping this illness passes in a day. My head started hurting this morning at work so I really hope I am not coming down with it too.
My brother-in-law and sister-in-law are coming Saturday for the weekend as a get away for their anniversary. Great to share a virus for a 20th anniversary gift hu? Going to take a nap.

Oh no... I hope she is feeling better. There is nothing worse than when your kids are sick.

So excited, we are at 93 days! I can't believe I missed the Aug. thread up until now. :rolleyes1

First time onsite: 8/24 - 8/31, OKW

Still figuring out our schedule, and trying to get DS to pick a character meal of his choice, and figure out if Legoland is a must to cram-in, along with a needed beach day (we are landlocked).

:welcome: from a fellow Canuck!

We have a beach day planned in as well. Nothin' says summer like some sand and surf! Our travel dates are virtually identical to yours, except that we arrive one day earlier.

What part of Alberta are you from?

Glad you are feeling a little better this morning. That's a good start! Its cleaning day for me here too..... blech .... I'd rather be lazy but alas, its not possible today  .

Hope your little one makes some improvements as the day goes on!

There is going to be a BOG cancellation for 4 people on 8/23 at 9:20 at approximately noon ET today according to the cancellation thread. Hope someone here who can use it gets it.

Hi Everyone, one of the members over at the Canadian board directed me over here as I'm heading down to Orlando on August 15th. We are at Universal Hard Rock Hotel for the first 9 nights and the over to Disney's CR for 8 nights. There are 5 of us in the family myself and DH and our 3 girls 16,12 and 9. Looking forward to the trip but a bit worried about that time of year since they said on the news a couple of nights ago that this is going to be an above average year for storms!!! Have to keep our fingers crossed about it all.
Seems like lots of people go at this time of year so I'm gussing it should be ok.

I'm sure I will as if find DIS a wealth of information! This is our second trip to Orlando, first one was 2 years ago, and I said to DH that this is the kind of place you need to go to twice as the first time you have no real clue. This time I'm really organzied and have learned so much reading all the posts here. I'm glad we are getting a chance to go a second time as I didn't think we would but I was left some money when my mother passed away and thought she would be glad if I used some of it for this since she knew how much the girls wanted to go again. Sad way to get a second trip but we will drink her a toast when we are there and smile and remember how much we love her and how she would enjoy us being here. She loved all the stories and pictures from the last trip.
It should be a great trip as we have lots planned, we aren't really hang out at the pool for the day kind of people so will be on the go most of the time. Now if I could just snag a ADR for BOG it would be perfect! I've been trying everyday since the end of Feb. with out any luck! Might have to try lunch there but I really don't want to waste a lot of time standing in line as we would rather be on rides or seeing shows. I had hoped that since there isn't free dinning at the end of August (except for those who got pins) that some spots would open up but so far no such luck. I'll keep trying right up to the end....though having said that my kids wouldn't want to give up eating at the Crystal Palace as they love Pooh and Friends. But I would gladly change it out with our Liberty Tree Tavern ADR....though that looks like a good meal so if we don't get BOG I won't be to disapointed.
Oh well I look forward to reading everyones posts here.:cool1:

Scrubbed the shower. My mom gave me a "Scrub Daddy" she got on QVC. The inventer was on that show Shark Tank. It really worked on the soap scum. Have yet to vacum and scrub the floors. I have already done so much laundry and dishes. I think my BIL & SIL will be here around dinner time so I shouldn't be taking a break to post, but here I am, LOL.

DD9's fever has finally broken. She helped clean up the TV room but then felt bad again. I was glad she actually ate a little lunch. Now she's reading in bed.
I have to get back to cleaning- oh joy.
Hope your cleaning went well.

85 days here! And I just finished my semester. The relief from studying and papers and exams hasn't really sunk in yet, but I'm sure it will any time now... :rolleyes1

Anyway, I have an interesting tidbit of info that I thought I'd share. There is probably a simple explanation that I am not privy to, but I'm sure one of you Disney veterans knows better than I do.

Just two days ago I shortened the first part of our trip. I have non-refundable plane tickets and will be in Orlando regardless, so my thinking was I could get refunded for the time cancelled from the POR portion, book us in a cheaper place and maybe do Seaworld for a day or something, and use the refunded money for a current bill I have to take care of (work and school weren't easy to combine for April and May, unfortunately). The entire trip has been paid off since January.

So I changed that part of the trip only to find out the refund wouldn't come through for two months. That doesn't help me right now, and work will improve by the time the money would come back to me, so the next morning I decided to un-cancel, not sure if it would work out. I booked the bounceback offer last summer and we have free dining. The CM I spoke with was having trouble and had me on the phone for a while. She explained that she didn't have any rooms available that were also "free dining". She finally transferred me to a supervisor. The supervisor told me that she didn't have standard view with free dining but there were many rooms available with FD in garden view. Since it will only be about $50 more that I will owe I decided to go with it.

So my question is -- if free dining isn't being offered to guests during the last 2 weeks of August, how or why do they have rooms set aside that are strictly "free dining"? Doesn't that seem a bit...interesting? :confused3

I can FINALLY join in! Hubby and I booked our trip... better late than never! We're staying at POFQ Aug 9th-16th. Booked Narcoosee's for our anniversary dinner on the 11th, still working out the rest of our ADR's, hoping to finish them up today! YAY!

From what I understand, the "free dining" rooms they are referring to should be for free dining bouncebacks only and not general public free dining offers.

When we booked the free dining bounceback, we were at a moderate resort and called to change it to a value resort months later. They said that value rooms reserved under that free dining bounceback were already sold out. Luckily, I called back sometime later and was able to get a value anyway. So, it is possible you may call back and still find a standard view. Honestly, I have never heard of anyone cancelling a bounceback and being allowed to re-instate it, so that is interesting information right there!

I didn't cancel it altogether, I just shaved a few days off the end.

Still have a question though -- why would bounceback rooms still be side aside?

I also booked BB last year and have changed things around a few times...:rolleyes1

I was told that a certain number of BB room are set aside for each resort, when they are gone they are gone. However if someone cancels the rooms go back in the "pile" as available.

HTH!:goodvibes

Ok, if you didn't cancel it altogether, that would make more sense.

I believe bounceback rooms would still be set aside for quota reasons. If they originally allowed a certain number of rooms to be filled under a particular bounceback, but the quota has not been met, they keep those rooms available to bounceback guests who may want to upgrade or modify their selection later.

Ah! That makes sense then. Lol, I knew someone would be able to figure this out better than I could. :)

Yes, that makes sense. Thanks!
I guess the part that I cancelled that went "back into the pile" got scooped up pretty quick. It was about 8 hours between my cancel and reinstatement! And the majority of those hours were during the night.

I think also what happens is that Disney allows rooms to be overbooked, since they expect a certain number of cancellations later. So, if the portion you cancelled was for a room or category that was already overbooked, that portion may not go back into the pile at all. It just gets poofed! pixiedust:
