Ugh - my second ticker is cut off. Does anyone know how to move it to the right, so it shows next to the first ticker? TIA!

My second tickers kept getting cut off so I finally made a rotating one. Now I have everything in one.

I was checking out My Disney Experience and I read that Coronado Springs has a beach camp fire! I hope they have one on our arrival night. Marshmallows and minor oral burns, I really can't wait. :cool1:

On another note...
QOTD?? How are the weight loss programs going for those of you trying to get into shape? I know someone out there has lost weight recently 'cause I have found it, it's here safe on my belly.

Not sure about CSR but the BC does the campfire thing nightly, so hopefully they will do the same for you! I bet there will be info for it in the CSR thread.

Ugh, well I can tell you not all the weight has found you, because its right here with me too! Last summer I lost 23 pounds with WW online. Then october came, Sandy hit and we were unable to get fruit/produce and fresh anything for three weeks. I started eating crap. Then the holidays, etc. and now I have gained back ten of those pounds even with running four times a week. So, tomorrow's the day. Back to counting points. If you follow it, WW is easy and really works. My fitness pal also works. And both of these allow you to eat anything you want.

I like the number of days format along with the month/weeks/days version as well.

************** is where I got my # of days ticker. Its nice and thin so it fits easily under the "pretty" one :thumbsup2 . It might be an option if you are looking for something "skinnier" that won't be cut off.

Thanks so much! I never even noticed that one on the website when I was adding mine. And I like this one even better, as it counts down the hours minutes and seconds :rotfl2:

Big WW fan here. I started on January 1st 2012, and lost 42 pounds by the end of September. So far I've been able to keep it off (need a fingers crossed smiley here!) but I do still count my points every day. Good luck to everyone trying to lose - it's not easy!!

I hate having to count points...I did WW one year and lost some weight, but then I had my DD and yeah, haven't lost all that I want to yet...

I am on Day 19 of the 30 day Shred... I love this work out DVD, because it really helps you gain muscle - lose inches - but maybe not necessarily "weight". After all - I really don't care how much weight I lose, as long as I look good... I hope to do it twice more before we leave on our trip. And hopefully I will drop a size or two.

I used to do WW, but I get so tired of converting everything to points - it drives me crazy! So, I've started just using My Fitness Pal to track everything, I find it so much easier than WW, and their database is so much larger that WW used to be (not sure if it's any bigger now)... but I love that MFP also has the recipe builder in it - that is awesome! Not to mention - it's free.

Once my girls are on summer vacation, I also hope to start us on a small walking program... Even if we walk 2 miles a few days a week, it will be helpful for us when we are on our trip.

**********************************************************

On a side note, I just purchased new shoes for all of us so we have time to break them in before we go - which I think is really important. We always bring a pair of tennies, a pair of keens and a pair of flip flops... I still need to order our flip flops, I will probably do this soon. I also purchased all new socks for our trip (I do this for every trip), but I made sure to get the moisture wicking socks this time, since it will be summer and HOT.

Oh, and I ordered a few customs for the girls and I to wear too... Since my girls are teens and I am (clearly) an adult, we don't really do any custom outfits... However, we do custom accessories - my first order should be here any day - and I am super excited for it! I can't tell any more about it, because I want to reveal in my PTR... but I am soooo excited!!!

Not to mention my list of customs I still need to make for us... I haven't even started on that list - and won't be able to until after 4th of July weekend... I am a bit nervous about the late start I will be getting on that project.

Hi August friends! This will be my 3rd time in the world in Aug. I have only visited AK in the mornings. My question is, am I crazy to visit after three one day? I plan on spending one morning, but feel I may need to spend more time. My 2 DSs like the park. Do the crowds thin out? It closes at 7. Do they rush you out? Please let me know your experiences with late afternoon at AK. Thanks!

The day that I am going is arrival day, so we will not be there before 1:00PM so I would not say you were crazy, just be sure to bring (and drink) plenty of water.

Actually, that is a good reminder about weight vs. what you feel like and how your clothes feel. I have looked at MFP - I go back and forth with which is easier. I'm used to points, and I love that I don't have to count fruit and veggies, but I agree that sometimes it's much easier to just put in the calories.

Can't wait to hear about your customs!

Re: speaking of shoes - Squirrel4569 - I know your wife got a pair of vibrams for August. I ran in mine today in the rain for the first time - about 30 minutes, 3 miles, light to medium drizzle and they were sopping - totally soaked and there is no way I would be able to stay in them after. Now, after several hours, they are no where near dry. So, just wanted to give you guys a head's up to have some back up shoes for the wet weather! I did put on my new keens to go out to eat after and they were fine out there in the wet weather.

We finally went for the end of the day on our last trip (also August) because I never see the parade and wanted to. It was great. We still missed the parade :confused3 but had dinner reservations at Yak n Yeti for the last seating of the day and the crowds really do thin out.

I too have been on the FB group more and geez did I miss a lot!

QOTD: Do you do routine household stuff like laundry and cooking while you're on your trip or do you prefer that to be left at home since you're on vacation?

We don't ever have a kitchen, and even if we did, we wouldn't cook. We really look forward to the restaurants. If we had a large family though, I could definitely see us cooking some meals. And we also don't do laundry, but that's just because our trips never extend past 7 days. On the 2 week cruise we once did, we did do some laundry here and there. But generally we enjoy not doing these things to preserve the vacation feel.

Kinda quiet in here today ::yes:: . How about a QOTD?

Do you do a "travel binder" (or equivalent) for your trip? Something in which you file away printed copies of ADR's, flight confirmations, etc.? Or do you keep all the pertinent stuff on your smartphone? Or wing it completely?

Last year I was so excited about DH and I's first Disney trip together, I committed everything to memory. This past March with my family trip, I made a newsletter for each day that shared all of our ADRs and general plans, so that kept us on track. This time around, I've been inputting everything on my iPhone calendar app. I'm actually very happy with it- but didn't realize a MDE app came out and someone else also mentioned Mouse Memo which I'm going to take a look at.

There is a 4:15 BOG for August 27th available right now.. party of four. Someone grab it!!!!!!

There is also a 9:15 BOG on August 29th!!!!

How I wish I was on the boards when this was posted!! I've been checking for BOG religiously. Fingers crossed I find something! I'll always have the Quick Service lunch- which I'm actually a bit more curious about. (Ordering via a touch screen?) Just worried about having to get there at 10 am to wait in line. :headache:

We are officially at 99 days! Doing the double digit dance! :dancer:

My 4 year old is obsessed with dinosaurs but I know Disney's Dinosaur ride isn't really preschool friendly. Today DH let her watch Jurassic Park and not surprisingly, she LOVED it. Asked to watch it again. It's funny, DH wouldn't even go on Dinosaur but he insists I should take DD...

When we went last time, none of us had ever been on Dinosaur. So we weren't quite prepared, but instantly loved it. My 6 year old sister had her eyes wide open a few times and her head buried in my armpit for most of the ride. While getting off the ride, she said it was scary- but after about 5 minutes in the gift shop, she wanted to get back on. What also helped me with her on just about every other ride is explaining to her exactly what's going to happen before and during the ride (ex- Ok, now when we turn this corner the dinosaur is going to pop out on this side.) so that she can feel a little bit in control. She never cried or got very scared once and went on every ride we did.

And momto3gr8boys - I see you are from RVC- my DH works at Molloy College! :)

Late afternoon is great. A lot of people head out after the parade.

Hey there everyone, hope you all had a good weekend ::yes:: . Happy Victoria Day to my fellow Canucks on this thread. Hope the sun is shining where you are!!

I spent my weekend sick  .... with croup, no less. In May?!? Had such trouble breathing a few times I thought, more than once, I'd meet my maker before the weekend was over  . Thankfully, I seem to be down to just a rotten cough and an achy body (most likely from all that dang coughing) so I think I might be on the mend. Summer viruses are always the worst!

Anyhoo, let's start the week off with a QOTD:

Do you worry about a hurricane affecting your trip?

Do you have a "rainy day plan" built into your trip in the event that a hurricane affects the area during your vacation (by "affect", I mean more than just a little bit of rain).

Do you buy cancellation and interruption insurance to protect your plans?

I know what pigletto's answer will be.....she and I watched anxiously as Hurricane Isaac made his way toward Florida last August :rolleyes1 .

And a question for joshsmom.....

How is your boy doing? Any improvement over the weekend?

Thought I would ask here rather than via a PM as I am sure many of our other August friends are also wondering how he is making out.

I did buy flight insurance through the airline... for this very reason - any other time of the year, I'd never buy it. But the more I think about it, I wonder if I should check to see if our regular insurance company offers any sort of travel insurance?

I am interested to see what everyone's replies are.

Awww, so nice of you to ask!! We are still in the hospital . . . but we may get to go home today or tomorrow!!! It all depends on how his blood work is. He has ONE MORE dose of his treatment today for the rejection. Then we wait . . .and see what his numbers do. Luckily, we can wait at home. AND if he does need another course of treatment, he can come in and do it on an outpatient basis. We REALLY hope that this course of treatment was enough to turn it around and he won't need any mroe treatment. More than anything, he just wants to go home. So hopefully, we will be able to do that!

Hello to all my August DISer friends!!! :wave2: :grouphug:

Sorry to hear you've been sick! My oldest used to get croup every year when he was little and it's scary - luckily he grew out of it.

I do think about hurricanes and watch the forecast closely, but try not to worry too much as there's not a lot you can do about the weather. On our prior August trips, we've had late day thunderstorms, but never a full day of rain. The only time we had a completely rainy day was when DH15 and I went on our trip in December 2009, and we spent the whole day at MK anyway - just pulled out the ponchos :) Haven't ever bought insurance.

We have both trip cancellation and interruption insurance in place. Always hoping we never have to use it (like most insurance plans!!) but its there if the situation arises.

Last August, we watched Hurricane Isaac make his way right toward Florida in the days before we were to depart. We checked the JetBlue website just before we left the house the day before our flight.....we were leaving for Syracuse to spend the day taking in the local attractions, then the night in a park-and-fly hotel. We arrive in Syracuse, hit the Carousel Mall, visit Dinosaur Barbecue for dinner, then head back to the hotel in the evening. And whaddya know? Jetblue issued a flight advisory just about 45 minutes after we left home :furious: . We could contact the airline to see if we could get our flight changed at no cost. Of course, by this time, its late into the evening and all earlier flights (we were set to fly out mid-afternoon) were already booked. Well, crap!

The airline advises us to show up at the airport the next day and "see what happens". We were told we might fly and we might not, depending on how Isaac behaved overnight.

Down to the front desk at the Candlewood Suites to see if they would have a room for another night if needed. The New York State Fair was in town so they were operating at near capacity. After a little finagling they were able to hold us a room with no obligation to keep it if our flight did go.

We get to the airport the next day, and were happy to note that JetBlue had decided to run the flight on schedule. By this time, Isaac had started to target the Tampa area more than the Orlando region, sparing us any potential delays.

I would like to say it was smooth sailing from there, but then Jake was taken by a TSA employee because they found suspicious chemicals on his footwear. Within a few minutes, I was intercepted for the same thing :(. Steve went with Jake (after I insisted he be accompanied as he was only a minor....he was just 16 at the time and almost ready to have a heart attack with the way the TSA were behaving) and I was left to experience the "VIP Treatment" by security by myself. I took the opportunity to chat up the TSA officer (heck, we were getting kind of personal with the pat down of my unmentionables so I figured why not ask some questions to make things a little less uncomfortable for us both? ::yes:: and I had to have some sort of conversation as she was tearing apart our checked luggage) who told me that they found some sort of substance on the shoes that is used in building bombs. :scared: No kidding. Turns out the same chemical is also used in fertilizer (note to self.....no walking through the hotel lawns the night before you fly). So there's your science lesson for today.

Anyhoo, long story short.......hurricanes freak me out a tiny bit, probably because (a) I'm a nervous flyer anyway so that just adds to the matter and (b) we don't have them up here in the Great White North (not normally, anyway) so its something I've never experienced. Add the unknown to the flying fears and yes, there's always a little concern swirling around. I know I can't change the weather but darn it, I am great at fretting about it nonetheless!!!
