OK, first thanks, I am not renting a stroller. All of the replies have been consistant with no need for a stroller...I will post on this thread from the park if we need to rent mid day and there are none left...:rotfl2:
Second, I don't feel so guilty about having no time to loose weight. Not that I don't still want to, somehow magically, before my trip. :wizard:

:thumbsup2 on both!

While I would agree that the kids are busier as they get older, I still think I have bigger chunks of time for myself. They're all gone for at least 7 hours a day with school, so that's my time to work (again, I do the majority of my work out of a home office, so that's a huge perk for me), exercise, household chores, etc.

Once they're home from school, I'm running them around to activities (sports, band, scouts, social activities). But they're also so much more independent - I do barely anything for my oldest now! He gets himself up in the morning, makes his own breakfast, handles his homework on his own (honestly, I don't think I could help him with the courses he takes ) and just manages his time really well.

When they were little, I felt like I had to help with every little thing - bathing, getting dressed, brushing teeth, eating....it was just exhausting!

Yes, I can see both ends. I think the main difference for me is that when they were younger it was easier to set the schedule and plan activities around family life. Now the schedule dictates everything and there is no flexibility in it. But yes, the physical care taking is draining when they are young.

Ok, so I guess I can officially join you guys, we are going down Aug 30 thru Sept 2 for the Labor Day weekend with our best friends and their daughter. We're staying in a Royal room at POR, not really where I wanted to stay, necessarily, but I'm excited.

Welcome! So, what do you have planned for your trip?

QOTD!

Have you started a PTR? Are you going to do a TR?

This is less a QOTD and more a Give Me Some Reading Material. ;)

I have two going on (both in my sig line). The first started strong, but I just haven't kept up with it. I feel like not much is going on in the planning stages, so it hasn't gone anywhere lately. The second was meant to be more of a training and planning PTR for the Tink 1/2. Maybe once I start making plans for that I'll get back into that one. I don't think I'm very good at PTR/TRs, despite wanting to be :lmao:

So very true! Our evenings are insane! Like when they forget to tell you they have a band concert tomorrow night, when you already have two baseball games and a trip to the dentist planned :rolleyes1 We really try to eat dinner together, but it's so hard when they have all these activities!!

I tried to do a TR once...see in my signature...but I only got about 3 days in, then I gave up! The funny thing is, I still go back and look at it sometimes, and it's so much fun to see the kids that young and the fun we had. So, I'd love to do one this year!! And I absolutely love reading other's reports...

No PTR for me, not because I don't think they're awesome, but only 'cause I couldn't figure out something really cool to say on a regular basis from now until August that would keep people coming back to read :lmao: .

I will probably do a TR afterward, though. I have done one three times and had a lot of fun with each. The first two got rendered useless when I reorganized my Photobucket account. My Christmas TR can be accessed by clicking on the link in my signature (insert shameless promo here :rolleyes1). They don't get as much of a following as the Disney-only reports (as you have probably figured out, we are "Orlando" lovers, and only once have kept our trip exclusively Disney-only, which tends to alienate a certain portion of Disboarders), but I hope they are helpful for others who might be considering an offsite stay.

Happy hubby = a much more enjoyable vacation. And one who agrees to back again sooner than they would have otherwise :thumbsup2 .

I bet your kiddos will *love* Art of Animation!! And an $1000 savings is a nice chunk of change to have in your back pocket. Sounds like the adjustments made to your plans make it a vacation everyone can be happy about! :goodvibes

Its funny....my DH never wants to know what the final cost is. He always jokes that he loves the trips and has tons of fun, as long as he doesn't know how much its costing. When I calculated up what we spent on our Florida getaways in 2012 (we went three times.....January, August and Christmas week) he almost passed out :faint: . In his mind, all he could think of was "we could almost have bought you a brand new small car with what we paid for Florida trips in a single year".

Meh, who needs a new car when we're making family memories? ;) (fingers crossed my '02 Alero keeps on humming along......! :rolleyes1)

AoA is awesomely themed. I can't stress that enough. I think even if we hadn't upgraded to a suite if a discount came out my wife would've said to stay at AoA instead of moving to Pop.

I can understand the car analogy all to well. I was telling my wife last night that if we weren't doing our trip this fall and next summer that we could have my car paid off. She says "We can make these memories with our kids while they are young and still appreciate it. We have no credit card debt and we're paying cash for the trip so we're in good shape."

Right now Disney is within our budget and our kids are at what I consider to be a perfect age for Disney. You can certainly enjoy Disney as you get older (I think we're all proof of that) but right now the magic is real for my kids. That's not something you can really put a price on and in my not so humble opinion it's not something you can afford to miss.

Ugh. You know what I always forget to budget for?? The deposit to book a bounceback! I'm sitting here playing with numbers for adding a night and forgot to include it in my calculations...again! There goes another $200 (or more) out the door!

I lack the consistency required for a trip report. I've often thought of doing one, but I don't even like to organize my photos so trying to be entertaining, remember everything in minute detail and find photos to go with it all sounds exhausting. Hats off to those of you who do write them.. I love reading them and am in awe of your ability to see it through. I know if I started one it would feel like homework after a day or two:rotfl:

Besides... my pattern is to come home, declare that we're done with Disney for awhile, get bored after about 3 weeks, come back to the boards and slide into planning another trip. Can't mess with tradition:lmao:

I just found this thread today (where have I been?!)

Can we join in? We will be staying at the Beach Club from 8/26 through 9/2. Me (Jane), DH, DD12 and DS7. We've never been to Beach Club before and I'm looking forward to trying out a different resort.

I'm an obsessive vacation planner, so I have our park days all mapped out and our ADR's taken care of. Was happy to get BOG for dinner for one of the days and DH and I are going to leave the kids with their grandmother (she lives nearby to WDW) and try Chefs de France for the first time on our own.

I too, just found this thread today. I've been lurking for a few months now trying to keep up with everything. I'd love to join in too---our dates are 8/5-8/12---staying mostly at BLT but have a night on the front end at the Dolphin and the last night at GF---it's crazy!

I really wanted to try Chefs de France! It'd be cute to catch Remy too.

Oooh I've never seen someone change resorts twice. That could be a lot of fun!

You haven't seen the RC thread then...(resort changers) who change their minds multiple times along the way as to what resort to stay at and then like to do split stays as well. Mostly just 2 yes, but I've seen as many as 4 in one trip!

We'll be at AKL the first part of your trip. We head home on the 9th.

I never really thought about split stays until I started reading on the dis, and 4 just kind of floors me. Maybe if I didn't bring kids. Or the hubs. :rotfl:

My thoughts exactly...I wanted to do an AKL CL / CR split, but DH wouldn't go for it...I think most who do it either have AP's or get tickets elsewhere and don't do a dining plan. If you try and do the dining, etc. it starts getting to be more expensive...

We've at least tried a different resort each time we've gone since we started staying on property.

That is crazy, but I love it! The most we've done is three different resorts as well. I don't think we would do more than that, but we like to try at least two resorts for each vacation. It's like Disney Bingo!

We do split stays with a dining and ticket package. Generally, it means we are staying 3-nights at one main resort (which qualifies for special offers that come out), and then we tack on a room-only for a day before and/or after at a different resort. I only wish we had started doing this sooner. We could have experienced alot more resorts by now!
