Just saw this from the DIS:

Disney has eliminated extra magic hours on Fridays at Magic Kingdom during the summer, from 3/31 through 8/26.

Hopefully, they won't do this for other days in August!

We will be purchasing either photopass or photopass +. We have used photopass on our last 2 trips and would not want to go without it. It lets us all be in the photos and I love the magic shots.

We will pre-purchase PhotoPass+. We used it in December and it was awesome! Except that I realized a week or two ago we're missing pictures with Sorcerer Mickey! I think it's probably too late for them to find them. At least we'll be back soon. Just a little bummed that it was my little ones first visit. Mental note to self, always, always get a picture on my camera as well! But other than that we love PhotoPass+. We're doing a lot of character dining this trip so it will be totally worth it to just be handed the photo package. Plus, my 13 year old loves adding the ride photos! Money well spent for us!

Well, shoot! I just checked the park hours and that is totally disappointing. However, it would make the decision of when to add a park day if we were able to easy as we'd add Sunday so we could do the EMH.

Photopass+ is awesome. We used PP on our birthday trip for DD1 in 2010 but didn't know we could preorder it and save money. Chapped me pretty bad when I had to drop $$$ on the PhotoCD afterwards. We didn't make that mistake last time and pre-ordered PP+ last year and got a lot out of it. We did family Christmas pictures at DHS and MK and had over 800 pictures on our card during a weeklong trip. We didn't do as many character meals on the last trip but we did do a couple of them (CM, Ohana, CRT) and it was nice to just have them hand us the pictures without paying more for them. Also having the ride photos included this time when DD1 was tall enough to ride some of the good rides also made it a good value. We came home and embellished a bunch of them and had prints done by a third party for the house.

My only problem with the PP pictures is that they are in 4 x 6 size. It makes scaling them difficult. #firstworldproblems

I am torn on what to do about Photopass .

We are doing a waterparks-only trip. Not sure if we will get enough PP pics in 4 visits to TL and BB (anticipating being at each WP at least twice) to justify the PP CD purchase or not. Its so much cheaper to pre-order, and I have heard that I could get a refund afterward if we decide we didn't get enough pics during our trip to warrant the CD, so that's kind of what I'm leaning toward........but I just don't know!!

Ugh, decisions, decisions.

We will definitely be pre-ordering PP+, and taking lots of pictures on our own cameras. We are camera-happy, so nothing will go undocumented.

This may just make my decision on which ADR to keep for BOG. I have one for Friday at 8:15 and one for the following Monday at 6:40. The EMH Friday was the only thing making me think the late time would work - but if the park closes at ten, we will basically get out of dinner and it will be time to leave.

I am not canceling today, but I will make an announcement here when I do in case anyone is looking.

It looks like MK is now closing at 11pm on Fridays in August, except for the last Friday in August, when it closes at 9pm. Not sure if that helps your decision or makes it more confusing for you!

We weren't sure if we'd get the photopass plus this time since it's just the two of us, but DH decided that since we're staying at one of the resorts where you can exchange your voucher for your lanyard, that it must be fate so we have to get it! I really enjoyed having it last time, we're only doing Tusker House as our only character meal where we could get the photo package for free, but we loved having the ride photos so it's worth it to us.

I just talked my mom into Photo Pass Plus!!! I am so excited. I really want to have ride pics as we have never at any park ever gotten ride pics, I also want pics with the 4 of us in the shot. She was willing now I have to figure out when to but it!

If you purchase a PP+ you will be able to get all of you PP pics, ride pics and the pictures they take at character meals. You can take as many as you want. I usually end up with about 200 pics, but I know other people get much more. It's a great way to get lots of family pics.

Usually at the entrances of all four parks (Castle shot from Main Street, in front of Spaceship Earth, in front of the hat at HS and in front of the Tree of Life. Then they will also be in other locations as well, such as character meet and greets and just randomly through the parks. We also got pictures from the water parks and at the BC. If you see a photographer without a tripod you can get a magic shot, like this:

And I'm not sure how common this is, but we ran into a photog at BC and he asked us to sit for some pictures. I love the way they came out, but I was bummed because DW spent the first week with us and then had to go home to go back to work so she missed out on this shoot.

Thanks for sharing those excellent pics!! I am looking forward to some great 3 generation shots as DH isn't coming, but my Mom is bringing us. I know how you feel about your spouse not being in the family portrait. If they can get stitch in the pic they should get missing spouses in the pic! LOL
