When someone wants to pay for my vacations, they get a say. Until then, it is absolutely NONE of their business TYVM. My life and finances are handled... nobody needs to give their unsolicited opinion. They do anyway, but they get shut down quickly. I don't owe an explanation. And on the flipside, I try to remember I can't control what other people think and as long as I am feeling good about our decisions I really can't be worrying about what other people think.:)

Well said. We get all kinds of grief. DH is a teacher and I stay at home with our kids. People are constantly commenting about how we can afford to go. It is our ONE splurge. I clip coupons and shop clearance sales for our necessities. I babysit for a friend a few days a week. Every other financial decision we make is so that we can go to Disney. If they can't figure it out, that's not my problem.

I have a Hello Kitty spiral notebook I have everything written in. I just got an IPhone last mo so I was going to put it all into the phone...but I will bring the notebook on the trip too, just in case. I don't have an 11mo old, but i can see me spilling my lemonade on my phone all by myself.

Just leaving NYC by Amtrack. Had a conference today followed by 4 lovely hours walking in Manhattan. Walked for miles had a blast.

My mom is taking us. I try to mention its a gift trip so people don't question how we can afford it. Mom told me her father used to give her $ to take us back in the 70's. Now my kids think when they grow up I will pay to take their kids.

Kinda quiet in here today ::yes:: . How about a QOTD?

Do you do a "travel binder" (or equivalent) for your trip? Something in which you file away printed copies of ADR's, flight confirmations, etc.? Or do you keep all the pertinent stuff on your smartphone? Or wing it completely?

Oh no... You had to ask... Yes, I do use a binder - or I used to... Now I use a Mini-planner... I posted my calendar page on the FB group the other day...

My Mini-Planner is a cheapo clear 4x6 photo album... You can usually find them at Target/Wal-mart for $1.99... Then I print out all of my info at the photo lab when they have a .10 cent sale. I did last year's Mini-Planner for under $7, including the album.

This is my calendar page:

And this is an example of what I have for each day... I always put in the park we are planning to go to, any ADRs (times and confirmation #s), any planned Dismeets, snacks or food we want to try and location, and also how my DDP is divided up for that day. :thumbsup2

All of my pages are created in Photo shop, and most of the pictures I use belong to Dznefreek and are used with his permission.

I love making these, and I've made them for every Disney trip we've ever taken... I like having everything at my finger tips, and I love that it's easy to carry this planner around - it weighs nothing and fits in every bag I carry. :thumbsup2

Sorry for the "more info than you needed"... but you asked. :rotfl2:

I bow to your superior creativity!!pixiedust:

Seriously. I have an ugly little white duotang. Functional, but not pretty:sad2:
Maybe I need to pass some trip planning time making something. I saw some tipping envelopes on Pinterest that were adorable. I think I'd need a laser printer though. They were all color and I can't even imagine the ink that would go through on my Kodak all in one:scared:

OH, I've been lurking and reading --- have no fear! It's nice that you remembered me. :goodvibes Do you ever get the feeling that you have nothing important to say or anything that anyone would want to hear? Yeah, that's where I've been with this thread. Oh Lord, that sounded pathetic, didn't it? Anyways, I am here......I have been updating my own PTR but that's been about it. :confused3

Oh heck, if I waited until I had something "important" to say, I'd never post a thing :rotfl: . Feel free to jump in with whatever random thoughts you feel like sharing. We are all ears :) .

And of course I remember you!! Was just thinking about your daughter the other day, and wondering how she was doing.

Holy crap. My poor little binder with its colour coded and labelled sections looks mighty pathetic now :scared: :crazy2: . You da woman! :thumbsup2

I'd suggest you make something in the theme of your resort, but you might have to make six sets of envelopes before you actually leave home ;) (lol, sorry...I couldn't resist :rotfl2: ....you'll forgive me, won't you? :flower3:)

Just a quick update on my DS17. Biopsy came back that he still has significant rejection issues. We are starting a new IV therapy tonight, utilizing the central line he already has in. We had hoped to get that thing out, doggone it!! Anyway, this therapy takes 5 days and then they should know by blood tests whether or not it is working. We KNOW this is going to work. Gotta think POSITIVE. So the earliest we will be out of the hospital is Sunday. Praying for good results and NO side affects!!

Thanks to all of you for being so supportive and for keeping me busy on here!! :surfweb: I think I would go CRAZY if I didn't have something to do with all this other stuff going on!

There'd be no point in switching resorts if nobody made fun of me:confused3. I've come to expect it:lmao:

Will be sending happy thoughts your way! :goodvibes

We have the same struggles. I think many of us do! We went to Orlando three times in 2012......my inlaws almost passed out. But you know what? The rational part of my brain knows that we don't owe anyone any kind of an explanation. We are responsible adults, we make our own decisions, and we can spend our hard-earned money any way we want. I find most people who feel you should justify your travel decisions to them are envious beyond belief. That realization helps a ton!

I would feel guilty if we couldn't afford our holidays (they are always paid in full long before we even travel), if we weren't saving for DS's college costs, or if Orlando trips means not contributing to our retirement funds. But all those bases are covered. And we each work an extra job or two (over and above our "regular" jobs) to help make our southern getaways possible a little more often.

The same people who think we travel too much also regularly tell me that we have done our son a grave disservice by not providing him with a sibling :sad2: . It appears that some folks will find just about anything to nitpick at :rolleyes2 .

Our kids are only young once. Take your trips and be proud to affirm that YES, these are experiences that our children will remember fondly for the rest of their lives. There's no better explanation than that.

All I have to say here is: word. I need to keep all of this in mind when I start feeling judged.

We have a spreadsheet where we load in all our information. Dh will print it the week before our trip. Right now we have it in our dropbox so we can access it everywhere.

Now see, if I could do creative, cool, fun stuff like this . . . I would DEFINITELY do it!! I am just not that talented in that area though!! You did a GREAT job!!

Thanks for all who asked about/are praying for/are sending happy thoughts for Joshua. He is fast asleep and so far, no side effects from medication. Praying for a good, restful night for him and success with his new medication!!!

I am SO GLAD we have this trip planned. It is something for us to look forward to and get his mind off all this medical stuff! I am truly hoping that this is the last bump in the road and that by this time next month we can say that he is well on the road to recovery!!! Again, thank you ALL for your support. I truly appreciate it. :grouphug:
