Chapter 17 - Yak and Yeti
April 10th, 2011
We walked over to Yak and Yeti for our lunch reservation. It was scheduled for 1:30 pm, but we arrived at 1:22 pm. We were seated promptly at 1:28 pm on the 2nd Floor!
We began with potstickers for an appetizer. YUM!
Also, Mother got some tea. It came in a cute little tea pot!
I got water (like I always do) and they gave me a cardboard straw! Haha thankfully I know that they do that for the safety of the animals, (they really think of everything at Disney!) but if I was unaware, I would be really thrown off.
For my meal, I ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein. And it was FABULOUS. Oh my God it was the best Lo Mein EVER! Lo Mein has become one of my favorite foods this past year. I like to try it at all different restaurants. Yak and Yeti has the BEST! (And following close behind would be P.F. Changs and Fuji Grill, in case you're wondering.)
I squeezed a reservation at Yak and Yeti into my plans for December basically for the Lo Mein. It's just THAT good.
Mother ordered the Salmon which was exceptional, too! Wow, this restaurant was just really winning with us that day!
For dessert I got Fried Wontons and they were soooo yummy. Mm-mm good. [insert deer face]
Mother got the Mango Pie, which she loved. It was the consistency of Key Lime Pie, but it was Mango flavored! Very delicious. When I saw it the menu, I knew she was going to get that!
They actually brought me a birthday candle in the Mango Pie. (even though it was Mother's dessert) It was just a quiet celebration, (no singing this time!) but it was a nice touch!
Yay Dessert!!
We also got Fortune Cookies at the end of our meal!
Here are out fortunes - How inspirational!
Our waiter was Andres and he was from Equador! He told us how he moved away from Equador and he now lives with his Uncle in Orlando. Since he's living there he decided to get a job at Disney! Excellent decision, young man.
Overall, Yak and Yeti is a GREAT restaurant! It's sort of tucked in the corner, so it's almost hidden when you're walking by! But that makes it like a nice escape from the craziness of the park!
I'm sad that we've cancelled reservations here so many times because it truly is delicious! It's probably one of my favorites and I highly recommend it! So if you're trying to decide whether or not to make an ADR here, I would say go for it! I'm sure you're going to enjoy it!! (ESPECIALLY if you get the Lo Mein!!)
Overview of Yak and Yeti Dining Experience
Food: Excellent, healthy, fresh, and delicious! Really well done! It definitely deserves a 5/5!
Waiter: Andres
Service: Very good, great recommendations! He was very efficient and personable! And he took a few pictures of us when we asked! 5/5
Overall Experience: I'm glad we finally ate there! Awesome! Our whole family would love it! (hence why I made a reservation for December!) The CM's were attentive, offered us great service, and fed us wonderful food!
After our delectable lunch, we headed over to Kali River Rapids to use our Fastpasses! We sat with a bunch of kids from a marching band, and they got SOAKED! We barely got wet, though.
Next I went on Everest all by myself! (Mother has been on that one, but she wasn't really feeling it that day.) The girl who sat next to me was kind of awkward. She didn't really talk when I tried to strike up a conversation with her. (Hmmm sort of reminds me of how people are in college.

I love to talk to people about anything! No need to be so quiet all the time!)
After barely escaping the grasps of the terrifying Yeti, Mother and I decided to head to the park exit.
However, since we're girls, we were drawn into the gift shop and spent a little time in there! I believe we went in Island Mercantile.
GUESS WHAT!? I found some more cute dresses!! I was so excited! I tried them on and they both fit really well, so we splurged and got them both! Looking back on it, I'm so glad that we did because they are nowhere to be found, nowadays!
Here's one:
This one reminds me of Vera Bradley! Dang I wish Vera Bradley would get together with Disney like Dooney and Bourke did... can you IMAGINE how cute the Hidden Mickey prints would be?!
And here's the other:
I wasn't going to get this one, but Mother insisted that I should. After this past trip, I'm SO glad I did! It's extremely comfortable on hot Disney days!
They're so adorable! And they're really comfortable, too!
The cashier actually gave us a discount for the Annual Pass AND the Disney Visa! (even though I don't think she was supposed to do that.) So thank you, generous CM!
We ended up talking to her for 20 minutes about the College Program! She was from Michigan and she was a Freshman in college. She was majoring in Tourism/Hospitality. That's really cool!
She told us how to apply for the College Program: You have to go to the seminar at school, get the code at the presentation, apply online, do an internet interview, and then a phone interview. About a month later, you get a job offer and get to decide if you would like to do it! Also, you have to audition beforehand if you want to do entertainment. I am so excited to do my internship!
As a side note... the other day I found out that my school does NOT offer the Disney Internship.

Terrible, right?! But that doesn't mean I can't do it!! Around Junior year I have to go to the seminar at another school, and then somehow I have to get it approved by my school. So I hope it works out! One of the Career Development ladies I met with the other day actually did the College Program 10 years ago (she worked Pirates of the Caribbean) and she said it was "the best thing she's ever done!" So she's willing to help me get that internship when the time comes. I hope it all works out! And if worst comes to worst, I'll do it after college! Can't wait!!
We took the bus back to Kidani and we went to the room and got changed. We went down to the pool and it was like 90 degrees out! The sun was very strong, so we sat in the very shallow part of the pool.
We went up to the room and got ready, and then prepared for our next destination of the night!
Of course, before we left, we had to look out the window and see the animals!
This picture CRACKS me up!! That giraffe is staring that bird
down.
I feel like he's saying "hi, wanna be my friend!?!"
