Thank you so much! :goodvibes You should definitely be excited for your trip - I'm sure it's going to be AMAZING! I am excited to start that TR! And I'm sure I will soon! Thank you so much, you too! :wizard:

Awwww... last day already, always a very sad day :( I totally agree about the ME voucher, whenever I see it I'm like "So cool!" Then I'm like "Oh, I'm leaving WAAAHHH!" But at least you still have a whole day ahead of you on this trip :thumbsup2 And while I was hoping to see some food pictures from Le Cellier, I can't wait to hear what you think of Yak & Yeti, my mom's personal favorite :D

Great character pictures! I really want to meet Miss Bunny and Thumper. They looked so cute together, the picture you got was so precious. And that's so cool, you got to meet Turk, he is almost never out. LOL @ Goofy trying to keep you, totally can imagine him doing that

I really got to see FotLK. It looks a lot more fun than I expected with the audience's involvement. I really want to go check it out now. It's #1 on my "To-Do" list now :goodvibes And personally I would much rather sing the other part of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", but that's just me :teeth:

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Chapter 17 - Yak and Yeti
April 10th, 2011

We walked over to Yak and Yeti for our lunch reservation. It was scheduled for 1:30 pm, but we arrived at 1:22 pm. We were seated promptly at 1:28 pm on the 2nd Floor!

dsc1131uf.jpg

We began with potstickers for an appetizer. YUM!

dsc1118f.jpg

Also, Mother got some tea. It came in a cute little tea pot!

dsc1119qd.jpg

I got water (like I always do) and they gave me a cardboard straw! Haha thankfully I know that they do that for the safety of the animals, (they really think of everything at Disney!) but if I was unaware, I would be really thrown off.

For my meal, I ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein. And it was FABULOUS. Oh my God it was the best Lo Mein EVER! Lo Mein has become one of my favorite foods this past year. I like to try it at all different restaurants. Yak and Yeti has the BEST! (And following close behind would be P.F. Changs and Fuji Grill, in case you're wondering.)

dsc1122b.jpg

I squeezed a reservation at Yak and Yeti into my plans for December basically for the Lo Mein. It's just THAT good.

Mother ordered the Salmon which was exceptional, too! Wow, this restaurant was just really winning with us that day!

dsc1123s.jpg

For dessert I got Fried Wontons and they were soooo yummy. Mm-mm good. [insert deer face]

dsc1126ou.jpg

Mother got the Mango Pie, which she loved. It was the consistency of Key Lime Pie, but it was Mango flavored! Very delicious. When I saw it the menu, I knew she was going to get that!

dsc1127i.jpg

They actually brought me a birthday candle in the Mango Pie. (even though it was Mother's dessert) It was just a quiet celebration, (no singing this time!) but it was a nice touch!

dsc1124sm.jpg

Yay Dessert!!

dsc1125v.jpg

We also got Fortune Cookies at the end of our meal!

dsc1128k.jpg

Here are out fortunes - How inspirational!

dsc1130y.jpg

Our waiter was Andres and he was from Equador! He told us how he moved away from Equador and he now lives with his Uncle in Orlando. Since he's living there he decided to get a job at Disney! Excellent decision, young man.

Overall, Yak and Yeti is a GREAT restaurant! It's sort of tucked in the corner, so it's almost hidden when you're walking by! But that makes it like a nice escape from the craziness of the park!

I'm sad that we've cancelled reservations here so many times because it truly is delicious! It's probably one of my favorites and I highly recommend it! So if you're trying to decide whether or not to make an ADR here, I would say go for it! I'm sure you're going to enjoy it!! (ESPECIALLY if you get the Lo Mein!!)

dsc1120c.jpg

Overview of Yak and Yeti Dining Experience
Food: Excellent, healthy, fresh, and delicious! Really well done! It definitely deserves a 5/5!
Waiter: Andres
Service: Very good, great recommendations! He was very efficient and personable! And he took a few pictures of us when we asked! 5/5
Overall Experience: I'm glad we finally ate there! Awesome! Our whole family would love it! (hence why I made a reservation for December!) The CM's were attentive, offered us great service, and fed us wonderful food!

After our delectable lunch, we headed over to Kali River Rapids to use our Fastpasses! We sat with a bunch of kids from a marching band, and they got SOAKED! We barely got wet, though.

Next I went on Everest all by myself! (Mother has been on that one, but she wasn't really feeling it that day.) The girl who sat next to me was kind of awkward. She didn't really talk when I tried to strike up a conversation with her. (Hmmm sort of reminds me of how people are in college. :sad2: I love to talk to people about anything! No need to be so quiet all the time!)

After barely escaping the grasps of the terrifying Yeti, Mother and I decided to head to the park exit.

However, since we're girls, we were drawn into the gift shop and spent a little time in there! I believe we went in Island Mercantile.

GUESS WHAT!? I found some more cute dresses!! I was so excited! I tried them on and they both fit really well, so we splurged and got them both! Looking back on it, I'm so glad that we did because they are nowhere to be found, nowadays!

Here's one:

dsc0108bz.jpg

dsc0109le.jpg

This one reminds me of Vera Bradley! Dang I wish Vera Bradley would get together with Disney like Dooney and Bourke did... can you IMAGINE how cute the Hidden Mickey prints would be?!

And here's the other:

dsc0112tw.jpg

dsc0114kc.jpg

I wasn't going to get this one, but Mother insisted that I should. After this past trip, I'm SO glad I did! It's extremely comfortable on hot Disney days!

They're so adorable! And they're really comfortable, too!

The cashier actually gave us a discount for the Annual Pass AND the Disney Visa! (even though I don't think she was supposed to do that.) So thank you, generous CM!

We ended up talking to her for 20 minutes about the College Program! She was from Michigan and she was a Freshman in college. She was majoring in Tourism/Hospitality. That's really cool!

She told us how to apply for the College Program: You have to go to the seminar at school, get the code at the presentation, apply online, do an internet interview, and then a phone interview. About a month later, you get a job offer and get to decide if you would like to do it! Also, you have to audition beforehand if you want to do entertainment. I am so excited to do my internship!

As a side note... the other day I found out that my school does NOT offer the Disney Internship. :( Terrible, right?! But that doesn't mean I can't do it!! Around Junior year I have to go to the seminar at another school, and then somehow I have to get it approved by my school. So I hope it works out! One of the Career Development ladies I met with the other day actually did the College Program 10 years ago (she worked Pirates of the Caribbean) and she said it was "the best thing she's ever done!" So she's willing to help me get that internship when the time comes. I hope it all works out! And if worst comes to worst, I'll do it after college! Can't wait!!

We took the bus back to Kidani and we went to the room and got changed. We went down to the pool and it was like 90 degrees out! The sun was very strong, so we sat in the very shallow part of the pool.

dsc06135c.jpg

We went up to the room and got ready, and then prepared for our next destination of the night!

Of course, before we left, we had to look out the window and see the animals!

dsc1132g.jpg

dsc06133q.jpg

This picture CRACKS me up!! That giraffe is staring that bird down. :rotfl:
I feel like he's saying "hi, wanna be my friend!?!"

Glad to see you enjoyed Yak & Yeti and you were so lucky to get a table on the second floor. When I was there in April of 2010, we were on the first floor, right next to the statue in the middle of the place and I would've much preferred the second floor, being it felt too centered, but whatever. I think I got the same dish as your mom. It was a salmon week for me, as well as a Disney week since that's basically what I ate. Though, after Sanaa, no salmon stood up to that :goodvibes But Yak & Yeti has THE best Shrimp, so no surprise you enjoyed the Lo Mein (: And that was so sweet of the CMs there to put the little candle on your mom's Mango Pie for you. =D And :thumbsup2 to the waiter for deciding to work at Disney when he moved to Florida.

That's always how it happens on Kali River Rapids, one half gets barely wet, while the other half get soaked. The first time I went on it, I dried off almost as soon as I got off the ride. The second time (these are between two trips), I got soaked, it was crazy, but I think that adds an element of fun. The ironic part was I was with Band and Chorus on the second trip and you were with a marching band group lol And that's really strange with the girl on EE totally ignoring you :sad2: I'm not the most outgoing person but I can get into a conversation with a stranger if they start it (:

I think this is the part of the update where I start taking notes from your TR again. I never even knew about the seminar part of the CP. I'm sorry your school doesn't offer the CP seminar, it will probably just be my luck that my school won't either :/ But at least I know this ahead of time so when I tour colleges (I'm actually supposed to start this year :scared1:) But at least you have some people at your school who have done it and you are starting to get it planned out :thumbsup2

The picture of the bird and the Giraffe is exactly like "Would you be my friend?" He seems so interested in the bird. I'd love to see them become close with each other. I love when animals travel to become friendly with species way out of their leagues.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

P.S. I beat Kristen! :P

That shrimp lo mein looks delicious! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think i have seen where the yak and the yeti is but I was specifically looking for it which is why I know that. Your dessert also looks fantastic! I love going on everest as a single rider. The line is about 10 x's shorter. The summer going into my senior year of high school we on the single rider line and we got several rides in within a hour (If we had been in stand by we would have only gotten on once in that hour). Both of your dresses look pretty! The first dress looked great on you! It blended in well with the rest of the scenery. When I go in january I hope to find a cute dress that I can where. it is a lot colder in january (which you already know) but I still hope I can where one during the day sometime. If not then at least I will still have the dress. I love the AKL pool! It reminds me of the pool that I spent all of my high school summers working at. I love to pose for pictures by it whenever we eat at AKL. I can't wait to find out where you spend your evening.

You always find the cutest clothes at Disney! :goodvibes
I saw that Epcot t-shirt you bought that I said I liked, but I'm tiny so on me it looked like I was floating in it. :confused3

Your Yak & Yeti meal looks really good! I think my husband would really like it!

Your dresses are so cute!!!! I agree that a Vera/Disney partnership would be pretty neat!

I loved Yak and Yeti too :) It's been a few years since I've gone but it was still good the two times I went! You can always do the CP after graduation..that's what I did. I liked it because I didn't have to miss any semesters since I had friends that did it and wished they would have waited! By then you'll be "of legal age" and won't have to worry about that too..haha. Your time will come :)

Such a cute picture of you and your mother at Yak and Yeti. It is so cool that you and your mom enjoy being at Disney together. Good luck in your college career!

Hi Jess! Are you home for the holiday weekend? I forget how far away your school is, so I apologize if it's far and going home for a quick weekend would be impossible. BUT I hope you got to!

Oh my heavens, Vera and Disney....now I think one of us really needs to contact those Vera people. That would really be a hit!!

The food looks divine as usual, and I would love to eat there on our next trip! I love the reports from you, the details are so helpful.

The dresses are so cute!! I always want that stuff but I look so fat in stuff like that. I do wish I would have seen one that I liked on our last trip, something to wear around the house to remind me of my favorite place!!

Hope things are looking up at school and look forward to the next update! :thumbsup2

Aww yay! I got the second floor too. We were at the table with the window on the left in that pic.

That tea pot is adorable. :)

I. LOVE. THAT. LO. MEIN.   It's a gift from the Lord. It's the best. That meal was just lovely.

MMMMMM. I love the fried wontons. Like HELLO. Fried cream cheese? Umm, yes.

Whose fortune was whose? Hehe.

Those dresses are super cute! Vera Disney patterns would be adorable. :goodvibes

I'm glad that you can still do the College Program, and I'll try to remember the process for when I apply. :thumbsup2

Awwwwwwww!!!!!! I LOVE the frumpy little giraffe. Maybe he's new. He's so cute! I want a giraffe.

P.S. Timmy only beat me because I was with Jess. So there.

I love the dresses that you got. With the frequency I'm in WDW, I've never seen any of the dresses that you got around. Go figure.

I really hope that you do the college program. I really wanted to go and work at WDW when I was in college or even right out of college and I never took the opportunity to do it. I would go back and change that if I could.

The girl who sat next to me was kind of awkward. She didn't really talk when I tried to strike up a conversation with her. (Hmmm sort of reminds me of how people are in college. :sad2: I love to talk to people about anything! No need to be so quiet all the time!)

I obviously don't really know you but you seem like the sweetest girl ever!!! :) Don't lose that quality...sometimes..even though people act like it doesn't mean much when you talk to them...it really means a lot. ESPECIALLY in a place like college where EVERYONE is starting new :)

love the dresses..LOVE your hair.. and obvi love that you posted today !!!

p.s. dont really know if that quote thing worked...**I checked and it didnt. lol oh well i'll figure it out. hahah

Glad to see you enjoyed Yak & Yeti and you were so lucky to get a table on the second floor. Mmm I'll have to try salmon at Sanaa someday! That's my favorite fish.. I always get it haha. I'm glad you had a good Yak and Yeti experience too! I didn't even really see the first floor of the restaurant! Maybe you'll get on 2nd floor next time!
Yup Kali River Rapids is hit or miss with getting wet. In the summer, if you wait for hours to go on that ride, and you get in the dry seats... that's gotta be SO disappointing. Especially because it's so short too haha
And yeah, that's how it should be! I like when I can strike a conversation up with anyone.. especially in Disney!
Yes, I am SUPER determined to get this internship. I have ALWAYS wanted to do it, so I'm not letting anything stop me  I wish somebody would have given me an answer beforehand. But I trust that it'll all work out somehow.
Hahaha that's the funniest picture ever. I know right?!

It was a delicious meal! Yeah, Everest single rider is great! I actually think I just had fastpasses.. but that was quick too! Thank you so much! I love those dresses! I hope you can find one too - they only seem to be out at certain times of the year, though! And aww that's a great pool!

Cute dresses! Glad to see you have truly converted to my side, dresses at Disney all the way!

Thank you so much! And haha yes, that is pure brilliance!!

You always find the cutest clothes at Disney! :goodvibes
I saw that Epcot t-shirt you bought that I said I liked, but I'm tiny so on me it looked like I was floating in it. :confused3

Thank you! Haha aww I'm sorry the Epcot shirt didn't fit right! Maybe the kid one would have worked better? I don't know!

Your Yak & Yeti meal looks really good! I think my husband would really like it!

Your dresses are so cute!!!! I agree that a Vera/Disney partnership would be pretty neat!

It was delicious! And oh I bet he would!
Thank you!! I know, wouldn't that be great?! That would be brilliant.

Isn't it great!? And oh that's what you did? That's really really good to hear. How do you apply for it after college? Do you still have to go to a seminar? And yeah, I think I'm gonna have a lot of classes so maybe that would just work better. We'll see what happens!

Such a cute picture of you and your mother at Yak and Yeti. It is so cool that you and your mom enjoy being at Disney together. Good luck in your college career!

Yes my college is only an hour away, so you are correct!! I am home for the weekend :yay: I was so happy because I needed to relax. College is extremely overwhelming.. the adjustment has been pretty tough for me. But I hope it gets better.
I know right?! That would be BRILLIANT. I love Veras... they are the cutest prints!
I hope you get to eat there - it's great! And aww thank you so much! I'm glad I can help!
Oh no, I'm sure you look beautiful! Yeah the dresses seem to only be out in the spring.. so maybe that's why you didn't see anything!
Thank you! I'm sure I'll update soon!

So there.

Mmmmm Yak and Yeti was a great experience. And I'm glad you can 2nd my obsession with the lo mein. SO GOOD.
Haha I can't remember whose fortune was whose. It's been a while now...
Thank you! And I know right?!
Yeah, I'm gonna make it happen!!!
And I love him too! He's cute!

Thank you! Aww I'm sorry :( I think the dresses come out in the spring... so maybe someday you'll be able to go down there in April or May and they'll still be out!
Don't worry - I'm making it a priority!! I NEED to work in Disney so I'm gonna make sure it happens! I'm sorry you never got to... but hey, it's never too late! Maybe someday!

ESPECIALLY in a place like college where EVERYONE is starting new :)

love the dresses..LOVE your hair.. and obvi love that you posted today !!!

p.s. dont really know if that quote thing worked...**I checked and it didnt. lol oh well i'll figure it out. hahah

Aww! Thank you so much! And that's a really good tip to keep in mind! I love when people talk to me.. so that makes sense that they would like when I strike up a conversation with them too!
Thank you, thank you, and haha yayy! You're welcome! I was planning on posting, and then your request just forced me to find the time to do it! I'm glad I did... it was fun!
And don't worry... I got it! ;)

Love love loving your TR! You and your mum are adorbs! And your pics are amazing! It's funny, I never thought of getting a Disney dress but you pull them off so well that I am reconsidering. All your pictures are really making me want to plant some really elaborate Disney garden. Ahhh if only I had the time the money and the patience! But anyway I am really loving all your updates.... they are making me all excited for my next trip, so thanks :)
Hope college is being good to you! I found college the best reason ever to bum around in sweats and uggs no matter what was going on haha pretty frumpish lifestyle? Anyways looking forward to all future adventures!
