“IT’S OUR MOTHER DAUGHTER TRIP!” Our Spontaneous Getaway - April 2011 COMPLETE 9/13

Am catching up on your last day at Disney - can't believe you are nearly finished on this one as well.

Love the pics of you both in AK and yay on meeting soo many characters! :thumbsup2 I have to agree in that Thumper and Miss Bunny are soo cute - can't wait to meet them!

Am glad you both enjoyed Yak n Yeti - every review I have read of that place has been good.

Love your dresses - you have such great taste. Also lol at that picture of the giraffe and bird - that is funny!

Loving your latest tr! Can't wait to hear about your last dinner- and of course your surprise June trip!

I loveee the dresses you got! The second dress reminds me of an Emilio Pucci print, very cute! :goodvibes

I wish I could go back in time and do the Disney college program. I really don't know what I was thinking  You're going to make an awesome CM, Jess :thumbsup2

Wow your lunch at Yak & Yeti looked SO good! That salmon really looks delicious, and fried wontons sound very yummy.

I love the dresses you got! I have the pink one, and I also really like the other one you got as well, there's too many cute dresses to choose from at Disney!!
Oh my gosh a Vera/Disney collaboration really would be amazing!

That stinks your school doesn't offer the CP. Mine does but my advisor told me I still have to pay tuition for the semester that I do the CP. Kind of stinks but I know it'll be worth it. I can't wait for it though either, I'm kind of looking more forward to the CP than college!

Booo! on having to wait until Junior year to do the Disney Internship, but Yay!! :yay: for the Career Development lady!!! I hope you keep us posted.

Thanks for the Yak & Yeti review. Have not been there yet, but I definitely plan on going in January. Also, loved the dresses...super cute!

Loved this update! I seriously had the hardest finding ANY dress. I looked EVERYWHERE. Glad you have lots though :) I'll have to keep searching!

Yak and Yeti is something I've always wanted to try but we've never done a reservation in AK. I've decided the next trip is one of new things- so i'll add this one to the list!!!

That's my problem with Kali- you either get soaked or stay dry. :confused3 Hit or miss. And I don't like gambling with my comfort, so I sit it out. I love watching though on that bridge!

Ugh, unfriendly people. I typically engage with people who do try, and sometimes I will too! We met a precious southern family in Mission Space, who thought Harry Potter world was scary. LOL :lmao:

That giraffe is for sure staring the bird down. Animal love :lovestruc

YOUR COLLEGE DOESNT OFFER THE PROGRAM! For some reason, I would have expected you to check this before! Good thing you can still do it somehow :) Phew! And keep trying with people! Some people just aren't open minded at all. It's annoying. You're there, branch out. Maybe people are still warming up?

Love love loving your TR! You and your mum are adorbs! And your pics are amazing! It's funny, I never thought of getting a Disney dress but you pull them off so well that I am reconsidering. All your pictures are really making me want to plant some really elaborate Disney garden. Ahhh if only I had the time the money and the patience! But anyway I am really loving all your updates.... they are making me all excited for my next trip, so thanks :)
Hope college is being good to you! I found college the best reason ever to bum around in sweats and uggs no matter what was going on haha pretty frumpish lifestyle? Anyways looking forward to all future adventures!

Thank you so much! :) Haha Disney dresses are great! They're cute because it's not a giant mickey mouse on the dress (although I would probably wear that too ) it's pretty discreet. Haha I know.. it makes me want to garden too! But I leave that to my Mom. She does a beautiful job planting all of the flowers at my house! And aww I'm glad! I bet your trip will be awesome!
College is okay so far! It's a lot to take in... I feel like the typical overwhelmed freshman  But I hope it'll get more fun soon! And haha YES that sounds like the perfect frumpy lifestyle. The only reason I'm looking forward to winter is so I can pull out my uggs! I love those shoes.

I know, right?! I'm just speeding along haha. Between the August one and then the upcoming December one and college I am going to be kept busy! So I better get as many updates done as I can while I still have time!
And aww thank you! Yes, aren't they just precious?!
Mmm I can see why the reviews have been great - it's a wonderful spot!
Thank you so much! And haha I know, it was adorable. I'm glad I caught a picture of it!

Loving your latest tr! Can't wait to hear about your last dinner- and of course your surprise June trip!

Thank you so much! Lots of fun things coming up! Yay!

I love your reviews and pics, esp. of the food!

All the best!

Thank you! If I knew what that looked like I would totally agree  But I bet it's cute whatever it looks like!
And aww that's okay! Maybe one day you'll be able to go down there! And aww thank you so much! I hope so!

It was fantastic!!
Thank you! And aww you have the pink one?! YAY TWINS! Thank you! Yeah I know... that's why I just bought them all. Oh well.
And yeah right!? That would be awesome.
Aww you're so lucky! You should do it for sure!! And yeah... I'm looking more forward to that than college itself, too. I really don't like the fact that my college doesn't offer that. It's NOT okay. I need to beat the system LOL

Booo! on having to wait until Junior year to do the Disney Internship, but Yay!! :yay: for the Career Development lady!!! I hope you keep us posted.

Thanks for the Yak & Yeti review. Have not been there yet, but I definitely plan on going in January. Also, loved the dresses...super cute!

I know, right?! It'll work out, though. It has to! Yes, I will keep you guys updated! Lots of crazy things coming up in my life, I guess! We will see what fun adventures occur for me!
You're very welcome! You're going to love it! And thank you!

I know ): They just seem to have disappeared off the shelves! They probably are only out in the spring.
You should definitely do this one next time - it's great!!
Haha yes, you don't like to get wet! Good choice for you then!
Haha aww that family sounds cute.
And LOL I love those animals.
YEAH RIGHT?! I did try and find out information before but NOBODY would give me an answer! They like... never heard of it. I was typically asking students though... so that's probably why. Unless you're Disney obsessed you just don't know. And yeah DO NOT WORRY it's gonna happen. There's NO way I'm letting an opportunity like that pass haha
And yes, I think they'll warm up to me eventually! It's not like I'm scary or anything! I just want someone to chat with!

]Ahhhh Yes I love subtle print...I mean the super obvious 'slap in the face' Disney stuff is great too but it's a bit harder to incorporate into everyday life. Awhhhhh your mum gardens too? She is seriously the cutest!
It's a bit silly how overwhelming college can be at first, you look back and think, "why did that freak me out"?? Youll be loving it in no time! Just breathe, journal, and have a good soundtrack. Although college in Australia is wayyyy more laid back. I went to one here in Sydney and one in California and couldnt believe how much more pressure was put on the students in Cal. Over here we just bum around in our uggs until it's time to go to the beach....haha jk....maybe
Yes I agree they really are amazing....it's like a cosy portable bed for your foot!:goodvibes

Maybe if I go visit my grandparents in FL over springbreak, I'll drag my mom specifically to Disney to get dresses. LOL. Worth it!!!!

And not scary at all! You're like the friendliest person I know. :flower3:

Exactly!
And yes she does! She LOVES doing that. What an angel.
I can't wait till I feel that way  Cuz it's like crazy right now. I hope I love it soon! Those are great suggestions... thank you! I'm probably the only person on campus who is listening to Disney Music... but hey. It's relaxing, I love it, and it's on my iPod so nobody can hear it anyway
And the funny thing is that you guys probably get just as good of an education (if not better). Oh well...
Haha that sounds like a good life :thumbsup2 And YES they are. I love uggs. I have a cream colored pair and a gray pair... I want the black ones with sequins for christmas :goodvibes

Ahhh clever ;) I mean... you have the annual pass and everything! Might as well put it to good use! :thumbsup2
And aww thanks princess

I'm so glad you loved Yak & Yeti. We love it as well. The whole restaurant seems so nice and quiet; even when every table is full of people eating. Over our Spring Break trip, we were seated upstairs, which was even better! There was hardly anyone else seated up there! The pot stickers are AMAZING!

The food looked very yummy, but my DH isn't into that kind of food, so I may not get to try it anytime soon:sad2:
I think your dresses are so nice! I think they would be perfect for a warm day.

I have decided that any Magical Express material handed out that says departure should be banned!:thumbsup2

I really hope you get to be part of the CP. With your friendliness, and zest for Disney, you'd be a wonderfull addtion the the WDW family!

Hi Jess! Just wanted to let you know how much I love your TR's. I've read the Bathrobe Princess and Family TR's and they were great. Your writing style is so much fun to read and you always have wonderful pictures. Can't wait to read about your next trip where you surprise Kristen. You girls are so sweet - your families are very lucky. Good luck in college!

Real Life Update #1: Dorm Room & Christmas Suggestions Please :)
September 5th, 2011

Hello everyone! It's been a little over a week since college has begun! It has been a bit overwhelming... but I'm sure it's going to get better soon! I am looking forward to fully adjusting so I can really enjoy the experience... it seems like it's going to be very fun!

I thought I'd give you all a peak into my room since everyone has been so kind to offer me good advice, support, and good wishes. Thank you all so much

My school just built these dorms a couple years ago, and they're pretty spacious. I only have to share my room and bathroom with my roommate, so the situation is very ideal! My roommate and I are getting along great, by the way! She's AWESOME. I seriously could not have asked for anyone better!

Anyways... here's my bed! I thought you'd all enjoy seeing all of my Disney posters! (We probably have the cutest room on campus... not gonna lie )

Here's my desk area:

The bathroom area:

And the view of my room from the doorway (that's my roommate's leg on the other bed haha. I didn't want to bother her to take a picture of her side too... but you can get the general idea from this picture):

dsc0093wg.jpg

So at least the dorming situation is working out EXTREMELY well. I'm very happy with that.

Unfortunately, just the whole "being a freshman" thing threw me off a lot... It's hard not knowing everyone! My high school was so small that I knew EVERYONE I walked by in the halls. Now I have to start from scratch again... I forgot how much time and work it takes. I was very stressed after my first week.

However, I went home this past weekend for Labor Day weekend and I feel MUCH more refreshed and ready to go now! I went out to dinner with my parents, went shopping with my Mom and got a few more things for my dorm, Kristen slept over, I got re-obsessed with Full House, we went to church, my Mom cooked some delicious meals, I started making a paper chain for my Christmas trip, and I did some more Disney planning!

I wanted to ask for some advice - has anyone been to Disney World at Christmastime?

My Mom and I were talking and we were saying how rides are our lowest priority on this trip. We really want to experience ALL of the seasonal stuff.

We're going that week in between Christmas and New Years, so yeah, it's gonna be crowded.

So for those of you who have been to Disney at Christmas/have thoroughly researched the topic, can you offer me suggestions of all of the great seasonal entertainment and activities to do? I want to try and see as much as we can... because it's not very often that you get to go to Disney for Christmas!

I would love to hear about the in-park entertainment, which resorts have the best decorations, and anything that you think is worth seeing! Also, for the shows, how far in advance should we line up to see them?

Also... I know that if the parks reach their capacity they stop letting people in. Is there a time of day that they reopen the park to more guests who want to come in?

And one more thing - what are some suggestions of what to do ON Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Eve? I have a few restaurants planned but that's about it.

I know that not everyone has been to Disney for Christmas, so just ignore this part if you haven't and enjoy the dorm pictures. But for those of you with any advice - Thank you so much! This is extremely helpful!!

I hope you all had a great weekend, and I will be updating on the trip again soon! I think I only have 3 more updates and the wrap-up left!

I am actually wondering the same things for my family's first trip to Disney at Christmastime. Can't wait to hear whatever feedback y'all have to give. :santa:

Cute dorm room! Where did you get your posters from? I was just wondering because i just realized that that is what my side of my room is missing. Hopefully once you get use to things it will be less overwhelming. my freshman year I didn't really feel settled in untill i was at school for 3 weeks. Once i got settled things got alot better.

I have been to disney during the holidays a few times and there are several things i would reccomend to anyone going to disney over the holiday season. First of all, yes the parks do get super crowded depending on which part of the season you are going during. The week of and the week in between christmas and new years are uber-crowded. If you get there during the time you guys normally get there then i doubt you will have any issues with getting in. Even when the parks are maxed out they usually let resort guests in. If the very merry christmas party is still going on while you are in disney then i highly reccommend going to it. I went to disney on a surprise trip my freshman year of high school and the very merry christmas party was one of my trip highlights. The park is a lot less crowded and it is super festive. Illuminations has a nice extra ending specifically for the holidays that i would reccomend. Disney studios has this huge display of lights they show down that new york section of the park by muppet vision 3d. They play christmas music during it and it has fake snow. We were there for the end of the time period that the lights were up so of course we went and checked it out this past january trip. That is one of our favorite disney holiday things so i highly reccomend it!!!! It is even more enjoyable with cookies and hot chocolate. I also reccomend checking out each countrties holiday around the world story time in epcot. The stories are very interesting. I know that animal kingdom also has a christmas parade. For each of the shows i would wait for the highest wait time they recommend for each show.My family also love winter/summer land mini golf during the holidays because the winter side fits perfectly with that time of year. The last thing i would reccommend is just looking at all the park and resort decorations and take lots of pictures by the decorations. My mom and i particularly love each resorts christmas trees. All the deluxe resorts in particular are worth checking out. each has a amazing tree and i think all of them have a giant food display that fans can check out, although they would frown on eating it. Enjoy :)

Cute room, looks nice and spacious!

Christmas stuff, it has been a long time since I went over Christmas but if I were to go now here is what I would want to do/see:

Osborne Lights at DHS
Wilderness Lodge Lobby
Grand Floridian Gingerbread House
Epcot Storytellers
Epcot Candlelight Processional
Holiday Wishes
Magic Kingdom Christmas Parade
Christmas Stage Show/Castle Lighting Ceremony

Cute dorm room! It looks more spacious than Sam's! I posted some pics of Sam's on my TR and it looks kinda bare. She can't secie waht to put on the walls yet, although I did find a giant wall sticker set of a tree w/ birds it's all balck and will compilment her bedding.
