“IF THIS IS A DREAM, I DON’T WANT TO WAKE UP!” – POP! Goes The Solo Trip **THE END**

so what you are saying is that you had a pretty al'right evening watching wishes?

;)

In all seriousness, that was a great story and really does sum up why going to WDW is more than a trip to an amusement park or even more than just a vacation.

When people ask why I am so into Disney and go back as much as we do it is for reasons like you encountered. (for me I always think of the look on my daughter's face when Snow White gave her a kiss on the cheek - you just can't put a price on that)

I'm sitting here at my computer on a sunny Sunday morning in Ontario, many many miles away from WDW, and just sobbing reading that report. I literally have tears running down my cheeks. You are absolutely right: Disney somehow can speak to the heart of the 80 year old man and the 3 year old child and everyone in between.

TP

Thank you for that Teresa. While it's certainly never my goal to bring tears to anyone, I do have to admit that it was indeed my goal in this situation. But touching tears, not sad tears and I'm so glad that it came across as intended. Disney really is for everyone.

Replace Ontario with Cape Breton and this applies to me too.

Yep, sobbing. Doesn't help that there's Epcot Innoventions area music playing in the background, which is the music that most makes me feel like I'm right there.

We had a similar experience on year during Wishes, a young boy in front of us. He didn't say anything but the look on his face during the show was almost equal to the girl's voice you heard. He turned and looked at his parents and just looked so happy. Summed it up pretty good.

Magic Rob, pure magic and worth waiting for. :thumbsup2

Aww, tears are flowing all across the country.

Wendy, I'm so glad to hear your reaction as it was pretty much mine as well. Where else but Disney can bring that level of emotion to places thousands of miles away?

As much as Disney is for everyone, and it absolutely is, seeing it though a child's eyes is so special.

Thank you soooo much Wendy. I'm glad it was worth the wait.

Oh my gosh, that is not at ALL what I thought your update would but, BUT it is just so perfect!

I am like you during Wishes. It is my happiest time. I am just smiling the entire time and I always have a lump in my throat! It is like my heart is so full during Wishes and is about to come out. It is my favorite nighttime show as well. I just love the music.

How perfect what that little kid said. Your writing is just perfect and filled with so much emotion. I definitely had tears in my eyes as I read.

And especially about that older man you ran into. That is just amazing that he was asked to work on Magic Kingdom.

It really was perfect Rachel. I will never forget it.

There's just something special about that show that just breaks me every single time. It's just... Magic.

Aww thank you. The emotion was so very real and I wanted so badly to get that across. I'm so glad that it worked. I've never worked on a single update that hard ever.

He was such a lovely and sweet man. I'll never forget him either. A perfect night.

I put on the Wishes soundtrack to read this story, which was both an amazing and terrible idea, because it made me even more emotional than I would be otherwise! What a story. You completely nailed it in terms of Wishes being Disney; it is my absolute favorite thing in Disney and always will be. Thank you for sharing :cloud9:

I actually thought about linking a Wishes soundtrack as background but I thought that would be too much. I get emotional just listening to it on it's own.
For me, Wishes really is the very best of Disney and that moment just proved it to me.
Believe me, it was my absolute pleasure to share that story.

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

THAT is what Disney is to me. Those moments. A couple years back, Disney had that commercial with the little girl was too excited to sleep because she was going to Disney the next day. That's my relationship with Disney. Not the gloom and doom I've seen in the bajillion FP+ threads.

Awesome story!!! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing. Being affected by something that simple is a gift, and it's one we share. And it's counteracting all the negativity I've been reading elsewhere on these boards.

So very true, and what a wonderful quote. I too get a little upset at the doom and gloom and frankly, I don't get it. The fact that I can go into a Disney park, not do anything, and be as happy as is humanly possible speaks volumes.

Thank you so very much! It is the story I've been most anxious to tell, and it all really was a gift that I will forever cherish.

Lovely story! What a magical evening you had!

Thank you ever so much!! It was Magic!

Oh Rob! You so beautifully and eloquently captured EXACTLY what Disney is to me as well!!! What a memorable quote that doesn't need pages of script or dialogue to frame the context of what Disney really means to so many of us! Just wow!! I can absolutely feel the emotion behind that night.

Thanks so much for sharing that heartfelt update. :goodvibes I'm with the gals in Cape Breton and Ontario - where's the tissues?

The other night I just stood in the middle of Main Street (DL version) and even after the last glow of the fireworks had subsided I couldn't stop smiling at the wonder of it all. It just takes you to a place that not everyone is able to go since they perhaps don't allow the magic of the moment to take them there.

Awwww Thank you Brenda!! I worked REALLY hard on this update almost from the very start of this TR since this is where the title comes from. It's so amazing (though not at all surprising) that it took a child to nail it. That moment just absolutely destroyed me emotionally.

You are so very welcome. Haha, glad to see it's spread to SoCal.

That's so it. I honestly feel sad for those who don't allow that magic in. I always get emotional just standing on that street be it Magic Kingdom or Disneyland.

Wow wow wow. That is a great story, I love it. And it's so relatable too. I'd be right there with you, bawling my eyes out. Those are the best experiences, seeing kids really be kids. Seeing the wonder that they have, it's truly amazing. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story with us. It gives me hope & happiness.

Just... wow. Thank you SOOOO much!

It will be tough to follow that up for sure, and I don't think I could. But there is lots more to come.

Oh my gosh what a lovely little run in with that man and his family, Disney magic really does bring the most wonderful things to happen! I have to say I wasn’t the biggest fan of Maigic Memories and You, I dunno, it seemed cool, but you had to be so close to the castle to see the pictures properly and I just wasn’t the biggest fan! Glad you enjoyed Celebrate though!!

Oh my gosh what an amazing Wishes story! Defintiely teared up a bit there, ugh, Disney magic is just so incredible, I’ve definitely done my fair share of trying to explain to the non believers but there is nothing like actually witnessing it for yourself, it’s beyond amazing and magical!

ACK! Those CM’S waving good night up there were the topping to the day for Paige and I too, we had no clue they were up there and it took us so much by surprise and just made the evening wonderful!

I honestly consider it magic too. If not for the rain, it never would have happened.
Oh I agree with you 100% on the pictures for MM&Y. I mean, I LOVED the idea behind it in that the pictures were taken in the park that very day, but it just didn't translate. You're right, you could barely make them out. I think what made me love it though was it was something new, it involved the castle, and I thought the soundtrack was wonderful.
Celebrate was absolutely fantastic.

Oh God it was just... I don't know. Just an unbelievable moment and sooooo emotional. Sadly, it probably wouldn't have impacted anyone who doesn't "get it" though it may have converted "on the fencers". I had no doubt that everyone here would get it though.

That could not have been more perfect. They were just there, as you said, waving and such, and then when I got eye contact they went into the posing. There is no other place in the world where you get that other than in a Disney park.

So, this is nothing like what I was expecting. And yet, while I'm not sure what I was expecting... it's better... because it's so simple and at the same time, we can all relate to that experience... maybe not with the little girl saying that... but we all know the feelings that Wishes brings- the chills, the helplessness... all because of fireworks....
All because of a mouse.

Haha, yeah I figured many were probably expecting something more "grand", but this was definitely a moment I will never forget. I just knew everyone would understand it all and what the whole Disney experience really is at it's core. All because of mouse.

Just clicked on your TR earlier today and have been reading it a bit at a time. I'm caught up and definitely had tears rolling down at your title reveal!

That just captures Wishes, and all of Disney World.

I stand there during Wishes, in awe with a grin on my face and tears on my cheeks, but if I'd heard that little girl in that perfect moment, I'm pretty sure people would have been asking me what was wrong because I would be sobbing!

Yay I'm so glad you "clicked"! :welcome: Dana! Aww, I'm so glad since that was what I was going for

I really thought it captured everything that we love about Disney in just one simple moment. Those are usually the most powerful.

Oh I do too. I'm usually pretty much in a coma during Wishes, but that little moment just completely broke me.

Thanks so much for reading! :goodvibes

Seriously brilliant trip report. I laughed, I cried, I felt sick during the wallet incident. And The Moment during Wishes - absolutely perfect!!!

Aww thank you so very much and :welcome: I'm so happy you're here.
I just don't think I will ever top that moment. Magical!!!

Rob:

What great stories! As well as several others, I was a little teary eyed reading those.

One of the best memories I have of Disney happened a few years ago. My husband and I were on the Magical Express on our way to Disney. There was a family with a little girl about 3 years old. The video starts to play and Mickey comes on the screen and this little girl yells out, "Don't worry Mickey, I'm coming!" It was the sweetest thing I have ever heard.

Thank you so much. I was definitely a little teary eyed just writing it.
OMG, I think that would have brought a tear to my eye as well. How precious. Yes, I'm a sap. That is so adorable.

Wow, a great couple of stories there Rob. I just read the last two chapters together, and I'm glad I did; they went well together. I'd have definitely welled-up if I had heard a child say that during Wishes too! :goodvibes

Thanks Glenn. It's so interesting that you say that since I had originally planned on posting both together as one update since I thought it all came together so well. But in the end I though it would be just to much and each story could stand on it's own. I just didn't want to overshadow the "Wishes" story since it's probably my favourite memory.

Out of the mouths of babes! Simply amazing! Thanks so much for sharing.

So true Annie, so very true. It is my absolute pleasure to share that story.

Thanks for sharing your memories! What a great TR. The pics are awesome. So glad you went back and took one with the older man, he is adorable.

Thank YOU for reading! :welcome: And thank you so very much for your kind words. I too am really glad I made the decision to go back for that photo. I know I would have seriously regretted it if I hadn't.

Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygosh!!!!!!!! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

I can't believe how you found words to describe that night!!!!!!!! What a magical, beautiful memory. I teared up just reading about it. Wow. And that's what Disney is. And the CMs posing for your pictures?! Amazing...

Ahh, Disney, how I love you.

Tracy, I'm not gonna a lie. I had a really hard time with that update only because I wanted it to be perfect. I spent so much time on it. But I'm so very glad it came across as it did.
It really was everything we all love about Disney wrapped up in mere moments. It was a night I will never forget and I'm so glad I got to share it with everyone.

And those CM's... OMG. I imagine the amount of people that walk out and either don't even notice them, or just wave and move on. When they actually posed for me... Perfection.

Thanks for sharing....great TR! :)

It's my pleasure. Thank you for reading :)

Wow, what a great ending to your night! Such a cute story. That reminds me of a couple great lines I've heard kids say in Disney World (that also got me kind of emotional...): these were both a few years ago, on separate trips, but I heard one boy, maybe around 8 years old say, "We're in the Magic Kingdom. We're home. I'm so happy." LOVED THAT! The other one was a little girl, who was probably 4 or 5. She said something about how Disney World wasn't just in Florida-it was magical Florida. :goodvibesprincess: It's so great hearing how kids react sometimes. Hope you don't mind that I shared my great kid quotes. :)

It really was wonderful Sarah. I loved reading those stories so I'm absolutely delighted you shared. "We're Home", that is adorable. :goodvibes
I love watching kids reactions because it's just so honest.

wow... you made me cry!! what a night.

Amazing night indeed. Sorry I made you cry but I was kinda going for that too ;)

I mean... wow. I can honestly say that this is the first time a trip report update has made me cry! What a beautiful story and I think it really does capture exactly how we all feel about Disney. Just beautiful, wow. :)

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Aww Marissa. Thank you so much. I'm glad to hear that my mission was accomplished. ;) I was pretty much like when you finally rode Little Mermaid.
And look at you plugging away on that iPhone. Now THAT is dedication. :goodvibes

Haha, yeah... it was ok.

Oh so totally true. For instance, I tend to poke a little fun at Universal from time to time, but the truth is, it's a fantastic park(s) with fantastic themeing and amazing rides.
But it will NEVER be Disney.

You're right, the Disney experience is absolutely priceless.

Wow wow wow. That is a great story, I love it. And it's so relatable too. I'd be right there with you, bawling my eyes out. Those are the best experiences, seeing kids really be kids. Jennifer, it was a moment I will never ever forget. I've always loved Disney, but that made me love it even more, which I didn't think was possible.

Kids are just so honest about their emotions... it's indescribable. It's just pure.

Thank you so very much for reading and commenting. It was my absolute pleasure to share that story and I'm so glad you liked it.

That story was amazing! I totally started crying when I read it.
I can't wait until my DH and I get our annual passes and take our DD who is 7 months at the moment and experience the magic through her eyes :)

Great TR so far, read through it all last night! I love your other one as well!

What a sweet story with the little girl and the old gentleman! Love it! Can't wait for more!

Such a magical moment.

I'm loving your TR and to be honest I think I'm going to have to wear sunglasses the entire time I'm in WDW for fear of shedding some tears in public. Reading reports like yours and watching videos on YouTube has caused me to choke up a few times already.

110 days till I get to experience it myself, can't wait!

Love your autographed Stacey picture! How cool is that!

The Tangled bathrooms are really impressive. I do wish they had done an actual Tangled attraction, but they are definitely the most amazing bathooms I have ever seen!

And the heavenly citrus swirl! My new favorite Disney treat!

Awww, what a sweet story! It's incredible to think that he could've worked on the Magic Kingdom, but also that he is still coming all the time and was there on opening day.

What a beautiful moment during Wishes. Your description really perfectly captured how I feel about that show, and how it represents so much of the Disney magic for me. And the voice of that little girl... just incredible. I am almost in tears I am so moved by it!

OMG- That is the sweetest thing EVER!!
Gave me chills... Thank you for sharing...

There is a wonderful moment that we shared with my mom last trip- I just remember thinking, I wish I could have this moment forever... We were standing there, waiting for the parade to My mom was holding the baby with the sweetest smile on her face and Landen was just in awe of all the lights, sounds....

Lawson was up on my DH's shoulders with a smile that stretched a mile wide.. I will never forget that moment.. That is "My Disney Moment"... :) Now that mom is gone, it makes it so much easier. Whenever I miss her, I think about that wonderful moment.

I also love how the CM's wave to you as you leave the MK. :)

Thank you so much!! Aww I am so glad the emotion has spread. I wouldn't want to be the only one crying. ;)

Oh I can't even imagine what that will be like, but I'm willing to bet it will be amazing and magical. The spirit just continues to be passed on generation to generation and I love it.

Great TR so far, read through it all last night! I love your other one as well!

What a sweet story with the little girl and the old gentleman! Love it! Can't wait for more!

:welcome: and Thank you very much! I'm so glad you're here.

Aww thank you. These were definitely two encounters that couldn't have been more different and yet touch me so very much.

Such a magical moment.

It really was!

Awww, it's ok. There's nothing at all wrong with shedding some tears in Disney. Just make sure they're happy tears!!

YAY for first visit. I may be there at that time myself.

ME TOOO!!! Seriously so cool! Love it.

Very true. Who knows though. While they certainly won't be doing an attraction per se, they certainly could incorporate maybe a meet and great or something maybe. Most amazing bathrooms indeed.

Haha, yeah I saw that! So good!! That citrus from The Orange Bird is heavenly.

I just loved that he just keeps coming. They live in Florida now, so he's there quite a bit. Just a lovely man.

Thanks so much Becky. It was a moment I will never ever forget. I truly believe Wishes to be the absolute best of Disney.

OMG, she just DESTROYED me it was so precious and perfect!! I actually was in tears, wimp that I am. At least when it comes to stuff like that.

You've captured the essence of Disney. I think Walt is smiling. :goodvibes

Awww thank you SOOOOO MUCH! I really hope that's true. :)

OMG- That is the sweetest thing EVER!!
Gave me chills... Thank you for sharing...

Oh Marcie it really was. I will never forget it. Chills and then some for sure. And you are of course welcome. I loved sharing that story.

That's such a sweet memory Marcie. Really, that's what Disney is... Memories that last a lifetime. And those memories are always ready to be pulled out when you need them. You can go right back to them any time you want. :goodvibes

Theer's no place in the world that has "employees" that really care like they do at Disney I don't think. I love the CM's.

Awwwwww WISHES ! That is how I feel when I watch it too. You did an absolutely fantasic job writing how wishes makes a person feel :goodvibes
