So Many Characters..So Little Time! Our April Adventure to the World! Complete:)

Didn't you love the front seat of the safari?!?! We got to ride up front for the first time this year and loved it - I think it was far less bumpy than the back of the jeep.

Great character pictures!! Can't wait to hear about EE & FOTLK - sounds a bit ominous... :confused3

Great pictures with Baloo and King Louie! Alex and Demetri must do those drums too... they just can't resist! :rotfl:

I hope you all got to do EE popcorn::

We loved sitting in the front seat of the safari!! We were lucky enough to be able to sit in the front seat on our very first trip as well. It does seem much less bumpy and it seems easier to take pictures of the animals too. (just wish they would have cooperated more this trip.:rolleyes1)

Thanks!:goodvibes The boys loved meeting some new characters this time around.:) Last update coming up soon.......

I hope you all got to do EE popcorn::

Thanks!:goodvibes The boys love that movie and were very happy to finally meet those characters....well except King Louie (Noah:confused3)

 Those drums are one of the first things the boys asked to do when we arrived in AK. They love them!:thumbsup2

Even though you said the animals weren't cooperating on the safari, you still got some really good pictures. I always forget just how tall the giraffes are until I see them in person. Well, in animal.

Glad to see that the boys were able to get some different character autographs this trip. It's been years since we have seen King Louie.

Thanks!:goodvibes I was happy with my giraffe pictures. I couldn't get over how tall they were...especially that one standing in the clearing. He was huge!

The boys were thrilled to be able to meet some different characters! The only ones we missed that they really wanted to meet were Chip and Dale.:sad2: Hopefully, next time.......

April 16, 2010--Our last day....Animal Kingdom

When I left off, we had just enjoyed our 2 weeks in the safari. Oh wait, not 2 weeks because it was cut short by some poachers and despite our luck to land the front seats, all I got were some great shots of hippo and elephant behinds. Oh well…I did manage to get a couple good giraffe pictures and since they are my favorite, that’s all the matters…right? We also managed to meet a few new characters. One we had been looking for since our first trip back in 2008 and for some reason or another always missed him and the other we watched Noah trip over a rock just to get away from him. Hmm…..

Next on our agenda for the day was to head over to Asia. I was excited to try and get both boys on EE. I rode it for the first time on our last trip with my brother and loved it! I knew that the boys would too. Now, if I could just get them over their fear of the Yeti to get them on. Since, they were still unsure (mostly Nick) we decided to head over to Kali River Rapids (another first for us), giving Nick more time to think about EE.

When we got over to the entrance, I bid farewell to DH and the boys. We had already decided that morning I would sit this one out. Although, I love Splash Mountain I’m not particularly fond of the getting soaked part and I knew that in Kali you could get drenched. It ended up working out since DH really didn’t want to ride EE (he’s afraid of heights) this way we could switch off…. A perfect plan.
After saying goodbye to them, I decided to walk around Asia a bit and stumbled upon these little guys.

100e3449.jpg

Eventually, I decided to find a bench and just wait. I wanted to make sure they spotted me when they came out. It wasn’t long before they appeared…and apparently I was so busy talking to them and not paying attention that I took a picture while I was standing up….and only got Noah.
100_3265.jpg

They definitely got wet! But they had a great time too! It was now time to head over to EE.
100e3450.jpg

As we approached it….I have to be honest I thought for sure that Nick was going to back out. But, surprisingly he was the one that stepped forward and wanted to ride first. Noah seemed fine with that and went with DH to find a place to sit down and relax. Unfortunately, I left my camera with DH…so no ride pictures. Although, I’m not sure if I would have been brave enough to pull it out while we were at the top of the hill anyway. I would be so worried that I was going to drop it.

Before we knew it, we were at the front of the line and it was time to get on the ride. We got inside, and I looked over at Nick.

Are you excited?

He just smiled…..

Are you nervous? Don’t be nervous..I’m right here beside you and it’s going to be so much fun! Wait and see.

He smiled again and nodded.

I could tell he was nervous….poor kid.

Then before I could say anything else….off we went…around this way and that way and chugging, up, up, up the hill and then down and around again...forward and backwards....AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

We screamed.

We laughed.

We screamed some more and then the ride came to a stop.

As I’m trying to get the hair out of my face, I turned to look at him and asked him what he thought.

Wow! He said that was fast!

I laughed and we went to find DH and Noah. Of course, I was excited that I got to do it all over again with Noah. He didn’t seem to be quite as nervous as Nick. I guess…his thinking was that if he could do ToT than he could do anything.

It was another great ride with Noah, laughing and screaming, holding on tight. He did tell me after… that although he didn’t actually see the Yeti…the noise freaked him out a little. They both loved the ride. They couldn’t get over how fast it went. It actually even felt faster to me this time than when I rode with my brother. My mom told me it was probably because I was thinking about the boys and how it would feel to them which made it feel faster. Hmm….I guess that makes sense.

Anyway, after EE it was starting to get late and we knew we still wanted to catch Festival of the Lion King before we left for the day. So, off we went toward Camp Minnie- Mickey. We spotted a few flamingos on the way over…
100_3268.jpg

Passing by the Tree of Life…you know I couldn’t resist another shot!
100e3451.jpg

We had never been to Camp Minnie-Mickey before so I had never seen these…..so cute!!
100_3271.jpg

100_3273.jpg

100e3453.jpg

We were actually early, so we got in line and waited for the doors to open. I could tell the boys were starting to get tired because they started picking on one another. You know as brothers sometimes do......

Finally, it was time to go inside and find a seat. We sat down and looked around just waiting for everyone to come in. I must admit…it felt great to sit down. We had been on the go since our Tusker House breakfast that morning. A break from the heat and all the walking was definitely needed! After awhile the theater started filling up and of course, we started hearing the all too familiar “Please move down…all the way down. Let’s make room for other people coming in.” They kept repeating it over and over. And…since we are rule followers we pushed over and over. However as we were pushing over, we noticed an older man sitting in front of us who refused to move. He was sitting next to a young couple with two little girls. The couple even had their young daughters sit on their laps to try and make more room, but the man wouldn’t budge. When it was clear to everyone including the CM that this man was not going to move, she asked him directly to please move down. After all, there was a gap that could fit 2 to 3 people between him and the young couple in front of us. Well, he ignored her at first and then finally he yelled…" Lady I’m not sitting in someone’s lap!" Okay.:rolleyes1 The CM decided to move on. But I felt so bad for that young couple. After that little bit of drama was over, it was time for the show to start.
So…were we in the giraffe section?
100_3278.jpg

Nope....

What about the warthog section?
100_3280-1.jpg

How about the elephant section?
100_3281-1.jpg

Not quite.....
100_3282.jpg

Yes! We were in the Lion Section! Grrrr..... The boys were so excited about that!

Then we sat back, relaxed and enjoyed the show!

100_3283-1.jpg

100_3285-1.jpg

100_3288-1.jpg

So, did we love it? Of course!! It was such a great show! There was one funny thing that happened during it. Well...funny to everyone except Nick. He was sitting next to a very enthusiastic man. He jumped up and sang along with the songs clapping his hands wildly. Since Nick was sitting right beside him, he got bumped more than once. I was wondering what was going on when Nick slid really close to me and put his head on my shoulder. I asked him if he wanted to switch spots but he said it was okay. I think it just surprised him that this man was acting so wildly. He was definitely enjoying the show!
After FOTLK, we knew it was time to head out for the day. We stopped to get these shots first though……
100_3289.jpg

100_3290.jpg

I also had one more shot in mind, that I knew I just had to have!
100_3468.jpg

One last picture while we were walking through the oasis on our way out.

We were so sad to be leaving our last park for this trip. But, we had a great time in Animal Kingdom that day and were able to take so many wonderful memories home with us. Still.... I couldn't believe it was already time to head back to Pop to say our goodbyes. I just wasn't ready yet.:sad2:

Up next--Saying Goodbye and Final thoughts.

NO! NO! NO! I don't want your day to end! But, since it is actually ending, I must comment on your day.

I'm so very glad that both boys decided to ride Expedition Everest. It can be quite intimidating especially when you know there's a giant Yeti inside and then when you see the big drop. Tell the boys that I am proud of them.

What was up with the stupid man not scooting down? I hate it when people do that. I've seen several people do that and it irritates the heck out of me. At least you all were able to see the show and enjoy it (despite the over excited guest:laughing:).

Great last day! :thumbsup2 I'm sad it's coming to an end... we seem to be on the same pace... I just finished posting our last park day. :sad2:

Oh NO!! The dreaded last day and saying good-byes. :sad2:

Sounds like you had a fabulous AK day though! Good for the boys for braving the Yeti! That thing is all bark and no bite! :rotfl:

Love, Love, Love the FOTLK! We've always ended up in the elephant section....my boys would love to be lions! :thumbsup2

So sad it's time for this TR to come to an end..... :sad1:

What a rude man to absolutely refuse to move down the row to let others sit down. I can't believe the CM didn't just ask him to leave. I don't know what Disney policy is, but I think that I heard of a CM asking a woman to leave in Philhar Magic because she refused to move down. :confused3

I couldn't help but smile at the exhuberated man getting into the FOTLK show! My husband won't even sing in church.

Aw, always so sad to say good-bye to Disney. It makes my heart hurt to leave, literally. But like you said, you have some wonderful memories to take home and share!!!

That might have been my earlier trip report that you read about the woman in PhilarMagic. There was a woman there that refused to move and, after being asked multiple times to move all the way down, a couple of castmembers came and escorted her out of the theater. The audience actually clapped when she was removed. People are so stubborn nowadays.

Great update Angie! So glad that both the boys wanted to ride and ended up enjoying EE!! It's always fun to experience those things together!! We LOVE FOTLK too, some people get REALLY into the music in there! Nice family pic in front of the Tree of Life too on the way out! I can't believe your TR is almost over! So many of us "April" people are finishing up!! :sad1:

Woo-hoo! That would have given me an extra EXTRA spring in my step for the rest of the day. :woohoo:

Ugh, rude people drive me nuts! That is the one thing I stress to my kids... above almost everything else, be polite! What made him so special? Geez! :headache:

"I could tell he was nervous.... poor kid." Angie, this made me smile, I was thinking the same thing as I read it. Back to back EE rides .... so fun! So glad the boys loved it :goodvibes:

Your pictures have shown me I have to slow down in Camp Mickey-Minnie. They were ALL new to me and all so cute!

Lucky you... I think we've been in every section BUT the Lion one :upsidedow at FOTLK. So glad you got to see it!

Very nice calendar shot.... with the tilted heads again

Ohhhhhh, I'm not ready to say goodbye to your TR yet either.

No, it can't be over! :sad2:

So glad your boys got to try so many new things on this trip and that for the most part they enjoyed everything! The first time we went on EE I don't think I saw the Yeti either. :rolleyes1

Aww...I know, I just wasn't ready for the day to end. It went by way too fast!

Thanks Lisa!:goodvibes I'm so happy the boys decided to ride EE. I thought for sure that they were going to back out. I know how freaked out I was the first time I rode. They did great!:thumbsup2

I couldn't believe the nerve of that man at FOTLK. I felt really bad for the family sitting next to him. I think they definitely should have made him leave!
Great last day! :thumbsup2 I'm sad it's coming to an end... we seem to be on the same pace... I just finished posting our last park day. :sad2:

It was a wonderful day at AK! It seems like the more times we visit that park, the more I love it!:thumbsup2 Oh and the boys were very proud of themselves for braving the Yeti. ;)

FOTLK was so much fun! I'm glad we finally got a chance to see it!:)

Honestly, I was very surprised that the CM just let it go like that. I really thought she was going to ask him to leave. It was so crazy that he was making such a big deal about moving down...there was lots of space. I can't imagine how that poor family must have felt sitting next to him.:sad2:

 My husband is the same way. But...here is this man sitting next to us, jumping around, dancing and singing. It was so funny!:rotfl:

The last day is always the worst. I'm never ready to say goodbye.:sad1:

Lisa, I remember reading that on your TR. I can't believe how some people are.:sad2: I know that when we saw Mickey's Philharmagic this time that we had to climb over people who refused to move too.:headache:

Thanks Beth!:goodvibes EE was so much fun! It's definitely one of my favorite rides and I'm so glad that I got to share it with the boys this trip. It made it so much more special!:thumbsup2 I'm so happy that we were able to find a photopass guy before we left AK. I knew I wanted that shot in front of the tree...so glad I finally have it!:)

I was so happy the boys loved EE! I wasn't sure though...Nick looked pretty scared at first! It's so funny to hear them talk about it now....like it was a piece of cake!

I thought all the character statues were so adorable. We loved the one with Goofy, Pluto and Mickey fishing! So many cute details!

FOTLK was the best! Just as wonderful as I thought it would be!:goodvibes Aww...from what I have read so far...it seems that we got very lucky being in the Lion Section.;)

Those boys and their tilted heads.:rotfl:

I really don't want this to end either.:sad2: But, on the bright side now I will have more time to keep up on all my subscribed threads. So I guess that's good news.:)

No, it can't be over! :sad2:

So glad your boys got to try so many new things on this trip and that for the most part they enjoyed everything! The first time we went on EE I don't think I saw the Yeti either. :rolleyes1

You know...this was my 3rd time and I still haven't reallyseen the Yeti. Then again I don't look too hard either.

There were so many "firsts" for us this trip! I was so happy that they boys loved everything they tried. I can't wait to go back and find some more new things to experience.:thumbsup2 (Not too much longer for you!:woohoo:)

Great pictures, man what a great day. So glad both boys decided to ride EE. How fun.

:lmao: what was the mans problem :lmao:that is so funny that he said he wasn't going to sit in someones lap :lmao:

And an overly excited man singing along :rolleyes1 (I would probably do that, with my kids though)

Great pictures on your way out, and the pictures in camp mickey minnie are so cute that you got, with the little statues/figurines/whatever you call them :confused3

So sad it's over, can't wait to hear your final thoughts and things.

Oh I love love love those Camp Minnie and Mickey pictures. I've never seen those shots and we don't go into that area. Too cute!

So glad EE went well and RUDE about the man who wouldn't move. Some people boggle my mind. Cute about the excited guy, how fun to see an adult that into it.
