Actually, now that you mention it, I forgot how huge these are!

I wonder if something like cookies would be a better option. Otherwise, I may have to check to see if they can do something for the mini ones. I sure like the ones you pictured with the minnie and mickey toppers on them!

    Thanks for the input!

Everyone always mentions the walking to offset the sweets, etc., but sadly, all that walking probably equates to a few Raisinets worth of calories. :( Seriously, it stinks. I'll eat 'em anyway, but I'm avoiding sweets for these last couple of weeks before we go, hoping to shed at least a couple of pounds in anticipation of my cupcake splurge while there. There's a lot of sitting and waiting in line at Disney - I never feel like we walk any more than I would at any other amusement park and we do the parks every day open to close for our whole vacation. Why oh why can't Disney food be MAGICALLY free of calories and fat?!?? ;)

This is a really fun thread and I have been subscribed forever. Wondering if anyone else had my experience. After drooling for months over cupcakes and planning which ones I was going to try...got there last May and just didn't want any! I did end up eating my son's leftover chocolate peanut butter Darth Vader cupcake and it was to-die-for! Now, the year before...before the thread...I did have two, maybe three cupcakes. It's just so strange to me that I was never in the mood for one after all the looking forward to them because of this thread!:confused3

I do think part of the problem is that it was hot in May and I am never as hungry when it's hot...more interested in cold drinks and fruit!

:rotfl: You know what is funny is that I do not eat sweets. I would rather have the salty stuff (which I am not supposed to have). But I like to think that vacation food does not count. ;)

Got to be the heat! We go fall and winter and what we can't eat there, we take home! Disney spoils us for cupcakes anywhere else. 18 days until my next one!!!

I like to think that too (or perhaps delude myself is the better description), but my thighs seem to have a mind of their own and they apparently don't buy my theory. ;)

YES! I totally understand. I was dying to try a cupcake from Starring Roles - specifically the red velvet - for almost a year. But when I got to the park, it was 100 degrees with 100% humidity, and I had been so stuffed from all of my other meals, that I didn't even get a chance or really feel like trying it! But I plan on trying many, many more on my next trip!

That is pretty smart. It looks like the took the core of the cupcake out, filled it, then inverted that same piece on top. That way you don't get quite so much icing (not that I don't love icing...), but you still get that huge gourmet cupcake look. Pretty smart indeed.:thumbsup2

That's it. There's even a youtube video (somewhere) where the baker from Disney shows how they make them. Yes - they cut a cone shape out of the cupcake, fill it, then put the inverted cone on top and frost it. Makes for those bigger-looking pretty-shaped cupcakes.

With having waaay too much food all week, I only got to try one Disney cupcake - "The King" from Pop Century. It was the chocolate cupcake with the banana filling and peanut butter icing. The filling was great. The cake was just cake - nothing special. And the icing was a bit too overpowering. They should've gone with a lighter PB frosting and a banana cupcake with some chocolate ganache or perhaps a banana frosting with a PB mousse inside. It was good, but not as awesome as it sounded. Was going to try the Tamarind cupcake at AK but they were sold out. :( The best desserts I had all week were the Chocolate Wave at Coral Reef, the sticky toffee bread pudding at Rose & Crown, and the pear something-or-other (it was kind of like a danish) at Biergarten.

Giving a bump since we're about a month away from our next trip. Any recent visits to Contempo Cafe? They always have great cupcakes.
