You can count on me! However, I probably won't be doing the fastpass+. I find it hard to plan my days down to the minute like that. Of course, maybe I will try it for one day, just to test the water.
We don't plan like that either... but we do get the occasional FP. Just wondering how it'll work. If it's true that Disney resort guests can pre-book and then we'd be stuck with nothing?
Does anyone know how often the bedspreads are washed at SOG? Just curious
Much like any other hotel:
Sheets are probably changed every 2-3 days. Comforters probably after departure.
There is no way any hotel washes comforters or bedspreads after each guest stay!
I'll bet the pillows are even dirtier. Do you think those ever get cleaned?
I don't know if I will get an answer, but I am going to ask Shades. I am just curious. and I had not even thought about the pillows. Glad I always take my own.
We are planning a trip next fall, and I am just simply torn between going SoG and POR. We've worked out the cost (figuring in parking since we'll have our own vehicle) and it literally is a matter of dollars between doing POR w/DDP (hoping for the military discount they usually offer) and SoG w/OOP dining.
We have stayed at both SoG and POR and each has their pros and cons. We will have a one year old and 7 year old, so walking to the monorail might be worth it from Shades... but I'm also thinking that since we'll have our own vehicle, it's a moot point. LOVE the pool and food at POR, but often felt like it takes forever to get places.
AHHH -- I can't decide! Any help appreciated!!!

We've stayed at both, and for us it's a no-brainer. Shades wins every time!! You can't beat the location or the size of the rooms. If you're going to have a stroller and pack n play for the little one, it's a tight squeeze in the POR rooms. The SoG rooms are almost twice as big! And we like the food options at the Poly and monorail access.
We stay at Shades every trip, but also spend a few nights at a Disney resort. One year, we stayed at POFQ for the whole week. We loved the resort, but decided that we wouldn't be staying at a moderate again for a whole week without a car. Having to take a bus everywhere was a drag, especially because my DD was 2 at the time and we had our stroller. For me, the convenience of walking to the Poly or TTC for the monorail to MK and EP are what pushes Shades over the top. With little ones, time is money, so the time NOT spent on the bus is worth it! It's also nice to keep some money in my wallet...staying at a Disney resort always makes me feel like I'm hemorrhaging cash!

Straight from Shades:
Hello Jane! Thank you for your continuous support. Every time a guest checks out of a room, we change out the comforters/ bedspreads with clean comforters/bedspreads. All of our pillows have pillow protectors on them and we change out the pillow cases when guests check out. Thank you again for your support.
Hello,
We are looking forward to a 10 day stay at SOG in a couple weeks. I really want to make sure we stay in the section of the hotel where the parking garage is...preferably top floor. Is it possible to request that? Oh, and I do NOT want a room with the balcony where the cement pillars are - because it is a solid wall -rather than open. For those that have had that style, they know what I'm talking about. For a night or two, ok...not for 10!
Thanks so much for any suggestions,
denise
