We were able to customize our MagicBands for our Oct 2014 trip already. I was really surprised that we could do it that early.
I've heard rumors that there are a lot of changes coming up for the MyMagic+ program, including a new website and the end of paper fast pass machines. So I wouldn't judge the future fp+ system by what has been happening recently. All of it will be different by the time you get there. Maybe all the glitches will be gone by then, too.
Yes, this is going to be an interesting trip for sure - with all the changes. I am a bit nervous about it. But I can't help to think that some things will be easier - like not having to criss cross the parks for all the FPs. It is such a bummer that you can't do more than 3 though. Most of the time, we didn't do many more than 3, but that is when we were having to FP run... I am curious to see how this all will turn out.
We were able to customize our magic bands for our march trip in December. Did V ever check out Ravelry? If she needs any patterns, I have duplicates of some of my crocheting/knitting patterns. There mostly baby blankets. That's what I started making first since all of my friends were having babies.
V has not checked out ravelry yet. I still have the page up for her to look at, but she hasn't looked. I need to remind her that it's here again - I think she may have forgotten.
Hugs and prayers for you and your dad. What an awful, awful situation and it's just terrible that the people who are supposed to "help" can be so nasty.

Thanks... I really appreciate that. I hate to think of all the other seniors who are in this exact situation. Even if we would have been able to move him out in the 10 days that were remaining in the month, you still have to give notices. Most places require a 30-90 day notice... So how many seniors have to continue to pay rent at places because of the notices. I bet a lot of them do, and almost all of them are low income... So, not only are they having to do an additional 1-3 months of rent, most of them are having their subsidies taken away from them, so they end up paying full price for a place they can no longer live in. That is just wrong! Sorry...
Whew! Just read through all your posts that I have missed in the last week or so. That'll teach me not to go MIA again!
Hi Oopsi! THanks for taking the time to catch up. I know you were busy watching Downton... So, I don't blame your for going missing. I cannot wait for the fourth season to start at the end of the month!
Sounds like you all had a wonderful Christmas. We did too, but the reason I have been MIA on the Dis is because everyone came to our house for Christmas this year. My parents stayed at our house for a week. We spent the weekend after Christmas remodeling the girls' bedroom (this is what they asked for for Christmas). And then this week...I have been LAZY after such a whirlwind week last week. Just been sitting in my recliner drinking hot tea and watching Downton.
It sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. I know it's so stressful to have that many people in your house over the holidays... But fun too! I hope you had a wonderful time!
I just now psyched myself up to get back on here and try to catch up. I knew it would be quite the undertaking, but well worth it. I have missed my Disfriends!
Thanks for taking the time to come back... I know it's a daunting task.
Is it just me or is Josh becoming a bit more of a Disney fan? The Disney movie in his stocking, his master plan to have you watch Mary Poppins and then see Saving Mr. Banks, the grin when V asked about going back to WDW... we will just keep wishing lots of faith and pixie dust on him, you and the girls just may make a Disney lover out of him yet! BTW~ Saving Mr. Banks is SO GOOD!!! You are going to LOVE IT! I will definitely own it when it comes out on DVD!
I wish... I don't think he is. But I wouldn't mind. He just knows how much I love it. He does respect the movies and such... He just doesn't enjoy the crowds or $$ we have to spend to go to WDW. Which I can sort of understand.
Well, there is much more I could chat about, but I must move on to other reports to catch up and comment. I haven't even done replies on my own TR yet... So glad to be back on the Dis!!!
Oooh - I didn't notice an update in your TR... I better go looking. Welcome back!
Oh D....that just sucks about your Dad having to pay, I guess I can see their point but wouldn't it be nice if people who have a customer service job would actually like customers?? Or at least pretend to like them. I do that all day long...pretend to like people I mean
I do understand their point about "storage", but geez... People have to give noices, and a 10 day notice is not adequate... I think a lot of seniors get stuck with a hefty rent bill because they have to pay for their "notice" time, and they have to pay full price for it, because all of the subsidies have been taken away. It's just wrong, and it makes me so angry!
I'm home today with Bradey for his second snow day in a row, so I find myself with some actual DIS time! I did an update on my severely neglected trip report and am catching up on a few of my subscriptions....so far behind on most of them But hey, I am here.
You did???? Oh - yay - off to look after I update here! Can't wait to read! I am happy you stopped by, thank you so much!
And I am constantly thinking of you and your situation with your Dad, and with O. It is great that he is so happy there...that makes this whole thing a little easier to deal with. Hopefully Josh can get in there and out without too much hassle.
Oh - I couldn't agree more... This is definately the right decision for him... It does make it easier to deal with the crap... It's just that there is so much of it to wade through.
So...wait...Josh doesn't know about this next trip yet?? Yikes! Tell him on April Fool's Day, then he can just think it's a joke and when the time comes you can say "oh I told you about this months ago"!
Nope... I am sure he "knows", but officially - no, he doesn't know. The girls and I were just going to leave a note on the table... but somehow - I don't think that will work out for us. I do like your idea though... That might work. LOL
Well I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. I guess we are all in the stormy winter blues. I have almost convinced Bill to move south! Yeah, maybe not...but every day it snows and he has to snowblow our big driveway with that tiny broken snowblower, I get a little bit closer to my happy place
I couldn't agree more! I am so sick of this snow/weather... It's so darn cold. Can't even stand to go out there to get the mail.
D, so sorry to hear about your dad and the fiasco with the rent. And give me that woman's number...I'll give her a piece of mind for upsetting you.
How wonderful that he is feeling better though. That is the best news!
So Josh said no with a smile? I'm liking the chances here.
The weather is awful and it doesn't look like it will get better the next several days. You all stay safe and have a great weekend.
LOL Thanks Kathy... I just wonder how many people a day she treats like this? I am sure that so many people call her with their "stories", and she has to just turn off her emotion and do her job... She really could be a lot nicer about it though... People like that should not be in jobs like that. IMO.
I agree - it is so wonderful that he is getting better! I just cannot even relay how happy I am, he is doing so fantastic!
I like the chances too... His objections are valid though. We are supposed to be going to Aruba in 2015, ao I understand his objection... It's difficult for us to save for 2 trips... But the Aruba trip is soooo expensive - it doesn't seem like we will ever get there. When Disney is (relatively) cheaper... YOu can just hop a flight and go - and not worry about anything.
Thanks Kathy - stay safe and warm yourself.
Just arrived! Better late than never, right? Sorry I missed your previous adventure though. I'm not at all caught up, but I did read the first page
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have not seen you here in AGES!!! Sooooo happy to see you, my friend - I've missed ya! And, do I spy a new ticker in your siggy??? Ooooh - tell all!
OMgoodness, look who showed up!!!!! So good to see you running in the same Dis circle I am again, Lidian! I have missed your....ahem...sense of humor (sarcasm) around here! Yay...Liddy is here!
Hahaha... This should get very interesting now...
I have no idea what you are talking about Miss Oopsi!
I'm sorry that I haven't been around much lately. I'm crocheting a baby blanket for a friend of my daughter and I can't dis and crochet at the same time. It was nice to hear that V. is learning to crochet. I find it relaxing.
I hope that you can get your father's housing issues straightened out. That woman sounded horrible.
That storm is headed toward us next. Not that we need more snow. We had a storm yesterday. It took almost an hour to get home from work and I live 4 miles from work. Today was much better. Stay safe and warm.
Liz
No worries Liz! Thanks for stopping by. I can totally understand that you can't Dis and crochet at the same time... LOL But I would like to see someone try and be successful at it.
Thank you... I am making progress. I am just so nervous about next week - there is SOOO much that needs to be done, and only Josh to do it. I am going to try to take a day out of my schedule and go up to help him out. It's more the timing of everything that is so hard and frustrating... As long as everything goes together properly - the rest is easy. I hope.
YIKES! That is an awful commute! We have not gotten any snow, really - but it's the dangerously cold temps that are scary. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I agree - you stay safe and warm too.

I woke this morning to some awful news on my Facebook page... My friend Jennifer (fellow Diser & the one who made our head gear for our last trip) - her husband is missing. He has been missing since Thursday evening at 7:30pm - the family thinks he went out hunting, and he has not come home. The weather is dangerously cold here (Jennifer lives near me) and a person can suffer frost bite/hypothermia in a matter of minutes if they are outside with out protection. He has been missing for well over 24 hours. It is a very dangerous and sad situation. I ask for prayers for her and her family, that they find her DH (Casey) safe and warm somewhere, and they find him soon - I cannot imagine how scared they all must be.

I pretty much told you all about my day yesterday... I don't have any updates, other than I received a call from my Dad's social worker at the Nursing Home, and they have set his discharge meeting for Wednesday. So, this is wonderful news! I talked to my dad last night, and he seems excited to move on to this next adventure.
We will be hanging close to home all weekend. With the temperature warnings out there, it's just safer to stay put and relax. We will be taking down our tree and getting all of the holiday stuff put away.
I am not sure if we are going to see Saving Mr. Banks today? I know it is on our to-do list, but we will see...
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Sending out prayers to each and every one of you - even though I don't mention names very often, if you have asked, please know that you are included.
Stay warm and safe everyone!
D~
