~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

We were able to customize our MagicBands for our Oct 2014 trip already. I was really surprised that we could do it that early.

I've heard rumors that there are a lot of changes coming up for the MyMagic+ program, including a new website and the end of paper fast pass machines. So I wouldn't judge the future fp+ system by what has been happening recently. All of it will be different by the time you get there. Maybe all the glitches will be gone by then, too.

Yes, this is going to be an interesting trip for sure - with all the changes. I am a bit nervous about it. But I can't help to think that some things will be easier - like not having to criss cross the parks for all the FPs. It is such a bummer that you can't do more than 3 though. :confused3 Most of the time, we didn't do many more than 3, but that is when we were having to FP run... I am curious to see how this all will turn out.

We were able to customize our magic bands for our march trip in December. Did V ever check out Ravelry? If she needs any patterns, I have duplicates of some of my crocheting/knitting patterns. There mostly baby blankets. That's what I started making first since all of my friends were having babies.

V has not checked out ravelry yet. :( I still have the page up for her to look at, but she hasn't looked. I need to remind her that it's here again - I think she may have forgotten.

Hugs and prayers for you and your dad. What an awful, awful situation and it's just terrible that the people who are supposed to "help" can be so nasty.

Thanks... I really appreciate that. I hate to think of all the other seniors who are in this exact situation. Even if we would have been able to move him out in the 10 days that were remaining in the month, you still have to give notices. Most places require a 30-90 day notice... So how many seniors have to continue to pay rent at places because of the notices. I bet a lot of them do, and almost all of them are low income... So, not only are they having to do an additional 1-3 months of rent, most of them are having their subsidies taken away from them, so they end up paying full price for a place they can no longer live in. That is just wrong! Sorry...

Whew! Just read through all your posts that I have missed in the last week or so. That'll teach me not to go MIA again!

Hi Oopsi! THanks for taking the time to catch up. I know you were busy watching Downton... So, I don't blame your for going missing. I cannot wait for the fourth season to start at the end of the month!

Sounds like you all had a wonderful Christmas. We did too, but the reason I have been MIA on the Dis is because everyone came to our house for Christmas this year. My parents stayed at our house for a week. We spent the weekend after Christmas remodeling the girls' bedroom (this is what they asked for for Christmas). And then this week...I have been LAZY after such a whirlwind week last week. Just been sitting in my recliner drinking hot tea and watching Downton.

It sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. I know it's so stressful to have that many people in your house over the holidays... But fun too! I hope you had a wonderful time!

I just now psyched myself up to get back on here and try to catch up. I knew it would be quite the undertaking, but well worth it. I have missed my Disfriends!

Thanks for taking the time to come back... I know it's a daunting task.

Is it just me or is Josh becoming a bit more of a Disney fan? The Disney movie in his stocking, his master plan to have you watch Mary Poppins and then see Saving Mr. Banks, the grin when V asked about going back to WDW... we will just keep wishing lots of faith and pixie dust on him, you and the girls just may make a Disney lover out of him yet! :mickeyjum BTW~ Saving Mr. Banks is SO GOOD!!! You are going to LOVE IT! I will definitely own it when it comes out on DVD!

I wish... I don't think he is. But I wouldn't mind. He just knows how much I love it. He does respect the movies and such... He just doesn't enjoy the crowds or $$ we have to spend to go to WDW. Which I can sort of understand.

Well, there is much more I could chat about, but I must move on to other reports to catch up and comment. I haven't even done replies on my own TR yet... :rolleyes1 So glad to be back on the Dis!!!

Oooh - I didn't notice an update in your TR... I better go looking. Welcome back!

Oh D....that just sucks about your Dad having to pay, I guess I can see their point but wouldn't it be nice if people who have a customer service job would actually like customers?? Or at least pretend to like them. I do that all day long...pretend to like people I mean

I do understand their point about "storage", but geez... People have to give noices, and a 10 day notice is not adequate... I think a lot of seniors get stuck with a hefty rent bill because they have to pay for their "notice" time, and they have to pay full price for it, because all of the subsidies have been taken away. It's just wrong, and it makes me so angry!

I'm home today with Bradey for his second snow day in a row, so I find myself with some actual DIS time! I did an update on my severely neglected trip report and am catching up on a few of my subscriptions....so far behind on most of them But hey, I am here.

You did???? Oh - yay - off to look after I update here! Can't wait to read! I am happy you stopped by, thank you so much!

And I am constantly thinking of you and your situation with your Dad, and with O. It is great that he is so happy there...that makes this whole thing a little easier to deal with. Hopefully Josh can get in there and out without too much hassle.

Oh - I couldn't agree more... This is definately the right decision for him... It does make it easier to deal with the crap... It's just that there is so much of it to wade through.

So...wait...Josh doesn't know about this next trip yet?? Yikes! Tell him on April Fool's Day, then he can just think it's a joke and when the time comes you can say "oh I told you about this months ago"!

Nope... I am sure he "knows", but officially - no, he doesn't know. The girls and I were just going to leave a note on the table... but somehow - I don't think that will work out for us. I do like your idea though... That might work. LOL

Well I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. I guess we are all in the stormy winter blues. I have almost convinced Bill to move south! Yeah, maybe not...but every day it snows and he has to snowblow our big driveway with that tiny broken snowblower, I get a little bit closer to my happy place

I couldn't agree more! I am so sick of this snow/weather... It's so darn cold. Can't even stand to go out there to get the mail. :crazy2:

D, so sorry to hear about your dad and the fiasco with the rent. And give me that woman's number...I'll give her a piece of mind for upsetting you.

How wonderful that he is feeling better though. That is the best news!

So Josh said no with a smile? I'm liking the chances here.

The weather is awful and it doesn't look like it will get better the next several days. You all stay safe and have a great weekend.

LOL Thanks Kathy... I just wonder how many people a day she treats like this? I am sure that so many people call her with their "stories", and she has to just turn off her emotion and do her job... She really could be a lot nicer about it though... People like that should not be in jobs like that. IMO.

I agree - it is so wonderful that he is getting better! I just cannot even relay how happy I am, he is doing so fantastic!

I like the chances too... His objections are valid though. We are supposed to be going to Aruba in 2015, ao I understand his objection... It's difficult for us to save for 2 trips... But the Aruba trip is soooo expensive - it doesn't seem like we will ever get there. When Disney is (relatively) cheaper... YOu can just hop a flight and go - and not worry about anything.

Thanks Kathy - stay safe and warm yourself.

Just arrived! Better late than never, right? Sorry I missed your previous adventure though. I'm not at all caught up, but I did read the first page

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not seen you here in AGES!!! Sooooo happy to see you, my friend - I've missed ya! And, do I spy a new ticker in your siggy??? Ooooh - tell all!

OMgoodness, look who showed up!!!!! So good to see you running in the same Dis circle I am again, Lidian! I have missed your....ahem...sense of humor (sarcasm) around here! Yay...Liddy is here!

Hahaha... This should get very interesting now... ::yes::

I have no idea what you are talking about Miss Oopsi!

:clown:

I'm sorry that I haven't been around much lately. I'm crocheting a baby blanket for a friend of my daughter and I can't dis and crochet at the same time. It was nice to hear that V. is learning to crochet. I find it relaxing.
I hope that you can get your father's housing issues straightened out. That woman sounded horrible.
That storm is headed toward us next. Not that we need more snow. We had a storm yesterday. It took almost an hour to get home from work and I live 4 miles from work. Today was much better. Stay safe and warm.
Liz

No worries Liz! Thanks for stopping by. I can totally understand that you can't Dis and crochet at the same time... LOL But I would like to see someone try and be successful at it. :rotfl2:

Thank you... I am making progress. I am just so nervous about next week - there is SOOO much that needs to be done, and only Josh to do it. I am going to try to take a day out of my schedule and go up to help him out. It's more the timing of everything that is so hard and frustrating... As long as everything goes together properly - the rest is easy. I hope.

YIKES! That is an awful commute! We have not gotten any snow, really - but it's the dangerously cold temps that are scary. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I agree - you stay safe and warm too.

**********************************************************

I woke this morning to some awful news on my Facebook page... My friend Jennifer (fellow Diser & the one who made our head gear for our last trip) - her husband is missing. He has been missing since Thursday evening at 7:30pm - the family thinks he went out hunting, and he has not come home. The weather is dangerously cold here (Jennifer lives near me) and a person can suffer frost bite/hypothermia in a matter of minutes if they are outside with out protection. He has been missing for well over 24 hours. It is a very dangerous and sad situation. I ask for prayers for her and her family, that they find her DH (Casey) safe and warm somewhere, and they find him soon - I cannot imagine how scared they all must be. :(

**********************************************************

I pretty much told you all about my day yesterday... I don't have any updates, other than I received a call from my Dad's social worker at the Nursing Home, and they have set his discharge meeting for Wednesday. So, this is wonderful news! I talked to my dad last night, and he seems excited to move on to this next adventure.

We will be hanging close to home all weekend. With the temperature warnings out there, it's just safer to stay put and relax. We will be taking down our tree and getting all of the holiday stuff put away.

I am not sure if we are going to see Saving Mr. Banks today? I know it is on our to-do list, but we will see...

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Sending out prayers to each and every one of you - even though I don't mention names very often, if you have asked, please know that you are included. :lovestruc

Stay warm and safe everyone!

D~

My friend Jennifer, my friend who made our head gear for our latest trip, her husband is missing. He went missing on Thursday evening, they are not sure if he went out hunting or fishing, but he has not been seen or heard from since. His cell phone is off or out of range.

If any of you live in or around central MN, and would be willing to share this on your Facebook page or any other way you can.

The weather is very dangerous here right now, we are in cold warnings and schools have already been closed on Monday due to the cold.

Please send up prayers for Jenny and her family, as they search for Casey, and pray that he is found alive and well.

Wait. I was gone? :confused3

I'm so glad to be back!!!!! :goodvibes Things have been SUPER crazy with my health and the baby's health. We are both hanging in there.

AND YES, that IS a ticker!:banana::banana: We're doing a family trip in OCTOBER (which you should come with us, DD11 has already informed me that I HAD to ask you and your girls to reschedule your trip. :lmao:

If all goes to plan, DD will be performing. If not, then we still have a family vacation and Baby Sully gets his first trip!

I saw the posts all over FB about your friend's DH. Praying very hard for his safe return! Please keep us all posted.

Know what I feel comin' on?

I also saw the posts on fb and have been praying for Casey. I hope that he is found soon.

I have to deal with the public in my job frequently. Many times I am not able to give them the help they need, but I at least always try to direct them to the people that can help and I always try to be nice about it. The problem is that many people in this area have moved to Pennsylvania from Maryland, where the land use laws are very different. In MD, the county is the overall government with authority over planning and zoning. In PA it is the local boroughs and townships that have that authority. Problem is that I work for the county planning commission - we are an advisory agency, with very little actual authority and the boroughs and townships can take our advice or not.

There is no excuse for any person in customer service to be unkind, rude or just plain nasty to anyone who calls for information.

We are also experiencing below normal temps. It was 10 degrees when I let the dogs out this morning. Not sure what is with the wind chill. We got about 5 inches of snow Thursday night and I had to wear 2 pair of gloves when I went out to shovel yesterday.

Stay warm and continued prayers for everyone.

There has been an update to Jenny's page, it is possible that Casey has been found, and is OK. But there hasn't been any confirmation to that post, which was posted over an hour ago. Please continue prayers.

The news stations reported he is alive, however he is still missing and the family is still searching. His wife received a text from him at 11:40am, he is still not home and they are still looking, they are not sure if he is injured. Just a very sad situation, and prayers are very much needed.

I apoligise for being afk so long

My DH had back surgery the 30th of dec stayed in the hospital until the 3rd when he was moved to the nursing home for rehab. He hates it there ,food is terrible and has and old guy next door who yells for a nurse every 5 min 24/7. So he's not getting much rest but it was the only open room. But he has to stay until he can get in and out of bed without using the grab bars. And be able to go up our front steps. Of course he wants me to stay with him all day. I did stay 24/7 when he was in hospital but it's not practical now. Poor guy I feel sorry he has to stay there wish he could come home.

Know what I feel comin' on?

GROUP HUG!!!!

Awww... It's just so fantastic to have you back... I am so happy that you and baby are doing well.

October isn't totally out of the realm of things - but it's hard to explain. There is a TINY, miniscule chance that we could go in Oct, but it's really far fetching. I am just happy you are all going back - it's going to be a fanatastic tirp for you! So many things have changed since we were there!

I also saw the posts on fb and have been praying for Casey. I hope that he is found soon.

Thank you - I will update what I can below.

I totally understand the part where people just have to do their jobs, but this lady was just down right mean and rude. :( OUr planning commission is much the same (as I am sure it is for many areas) - we are an advisory agency, that is all... All decisions remain with the City Council.

There is no excuse for any person in customer service to be unkind, rude or just plain nasty to anyone who calls for information.

I totally agree... :lovestruc

Today, the weather is supposed to start to get really bad, and into tomorrow... They are talking -50 to -70 with the windchill. And I am so nervous, because Josh has to drive up to my dad's tomorrow... I wish he would stay put for one more day.

I really hope there is a happy ending and he is found safe and sound. We are expecting to go to -17 overnight on Sunday and I can't imagine what that would be like to be out in it. I'm praying for them.

Thank you Ann... I will update what I can below.

I'm glad that he is safe but wonder what the heck he was up to. I feel sorry for his wife and other loved ones.

I wish I could tell you... Just continued prayers for his safety.

So he's found? I'm a bit confused ... but glad it appears he is fine. I hope all the issues get resolved. Will continue to pray!

I know it is confusing, it's confusing to everyone. He is not "found" - he is alive, but that is all they know. I will update below, what I can.

I apoligise for being afk so long

Hi Trisha! Happy to see you back here!

I am glad to hear that your DH is recouperating. I cannot imagine being stuck in a nursing home myself. Not sure if you read, but I recently had to go through much the same thing (finding a nursing home for rehabilitation) for my dad. So, I can truly relate. I hope that your DH makes a speedy recovery and he's out of the nursing home in no time. :wizard:

**********************************************************

We did not go to see Saving Mr. Banks yesterday, to be quite honest - I was glued to this darn computer all day, trying to do what I could from here to help in Jenny's search for Casey.

I will update what I can update here.

This is what I know... Casey sent a text to Jenny yesterday right before noon, the police were able to pin point his location/area from that text and were able to find a business where he wrote a check. From their investigation, they were able to determine that Casey is alive and alone - therefore in no danger, so they called off the missing persons investigation.

However, as of this morning Casey is still not home. The family is still actively searching for him, they have had no contact since the one text yesterday.

So, even though it is confusing... I am giving prayer and support to the family freely, I may never know the real reason that Casey is missing, and that is OK - it is not a condition for my offer of prayer and support. I just want the family to find him, or for him to find his way home unharmed. I am certain that the family and Casey have a long road ahead of them, so I also offer prayers of support for them, I just cannot imagine the dispair and fear they are experiencing.

It is very dangerous out there today... Today is the start of our severely cold weather (-50 to -70 below) and it could be very dangerous to just walk from your house to your car.

If you believe in prayer and it is something you are inclined to do... by all means, please do so - for Casey and his family. :lovestruc

In Disney related news, I am starting to make headway on which parks on which days... We only have 4 park days this time, so I really want to make the most of them. I believe we will be opening and closing each park every day we can (we just might not be there in the middle). :wizard:

I hope each of you has a wonderful day... Please stay warm and safe out there... My prayers and good thoughts are with all of you. Tess... Have you had any updates on Gwen?

D~

Continued prayers for Jennifer, Casey and family. As confusing the situation is to me, a stranger, it has got to be tons more for the family.

Trip planning is good. Four days. I am interested to know if you would do all 4 parks. With the Disney trip giveaway contest going on now, the kids and I were talking about which parks we would go to if we only had 4 days. We decided Animal Kingdom because we missed so much there. We did all the headliners before the downpour started, but I feel we missed the essence of that park. We aren't sure if we would go to Epcot. Magic Kingdom for sure to check out the mine train and DHS because we had tons of fun there. If we did go to Epcot it would just be to take pictures.

I have a surprise trip in the works for the kids to Disneyland in September. Just found out Friday that we might be there the same time as Dapper Day. Marissa has been so wanting to do this since she heard about it last year. If I can pull off the surprise and Dapper Day too, I just might get mother of the year.

Continued prayers for Jennifer and her family. It must be very hard for the family.

Gwen is finally back in PA. The viewings are today, and luckily our temps are going up, though we are having freezing rain right now. By 3 pm it should be in the low 40s. The service is tomorrow.

My brother and nephew are home. Jim came over last night with my sister and my younger brother was also here, as well as two of my cousins from Kentucky.

The weather is expected to get extremely cold over the next couple of days - I guess we will be getting some of the cold coming down from the north pole. We had record lows yesterday morning - it was -7 at the local airport and the "experts" expect even lower temps by Tuesday morning.

Stay warm everyone.

Well DD insisted that I ask and that you should go in October. :lmao:

I'm anxious to see all the new stuff! I haven't followed much lately, as being in such poor shape and having the baby ... things were more important than following Disney news. But now things are better (not great, but better), I am starting to read the blogs and follow things closer! Plus, my cousin is going NEXT WEEKEND!!!! SO jealous! She's had a ton of questions, so I've done some research for her.

I will continue to pray hard. I understand now. I hope whatever is going on gets resolved. Regardless, prayers are going out. God knows what the family needs and He will work his ways when He is ready. I pray for healing for the family, whether it be emotional or physical.

I thought you were going for like 10 days? Why only 4 park days? I'm confused again. I know, that isn't anything new. :sad2: Anxious to hear more!

 to D and the girls!!

Just arrived! Better late than never, right? Sorry I missed your previous adventure though. I'm not at all caught up, but I did read the first page. :lmao:

OMG!!!!!! it is SOO GOOD TO SEE YOU again!!!:cool1:
i have been asking D about you forever!!! Glad to see your back and you have a trip planned!!!

OK took me forever and i am not going to lie i skipped a lot.. ONLY because i kept in touch with you on facebook and texts..

So glad your Christmas was great!! and Santa was good to you all..

bundle up baby.. i am SO NOT ready for this cold coming in... :headache:

are the girls off school tomorrow?

I like your ADR's...

My prayers continue for your friend and her family.

I don't think I realized you only had four park days this trip. I know from our December trip how hard this is to plan and get the maximum done.

I am still hoping that our office is going to close tomorrow, but I'm not counting on it.

And if you could all add a little prayer for our high school wrestling team. They are making the drive back from Rochester, Minnesota where they participated in a weekend tournament, home today.
