"Only Heaven Is Better than Disney World": Live TR 8/24

I just wanted to thank everyone for reading :) I'm sorry if I didn't get a chance to reply to everyone personally, but I want to start day 1, part 2.

After our absolutely awesome lunch at 50s PTC, we headed over to Star Tours next. The wait was posted as 30 minutes, but it was more like 20. My fiancé loved this ride--he had never ridden it before. Then we headed over and saw the Muppets 3D. Next we headed over to Lights, Motor, Action! for the 4:30 showing. I got a lot of action shots with my regular camera, but since my phone was running low on batteries I only got this shot before it started:

That show was pretty awesome!

After we left it, we headed back to Rockin' Rollercoaster to use our fastpasses. Even with them, we still had to wait 30 minutes. The stand-by line was an hour, though, so I'm not complaining too much!

By the time we got off that ride, it was time for dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby.

The BD was beautiful.

We ordered a glass of wine and a cocktail to start ;)

For our appetizer, we both got the crab cake. I know you are probably thinking, didn't she just have that at lunch? Well I did, but I love a good crab cake so I got another. This one was better than 50s PTC. Whereas it was the sauce that made the one there so good, it was the actual cake that was superb here--almost all meat, hardly any filler!

For dinner, my fiancé got the lamb chops and I got the filet. The waiter also got us a side of potatoes in case I didn't like the cheddar polenta that came with the filet. I did end up liking it, but it was very rich and I only ate about half of it.

For dessert, he got the grapefruit cake, and I got berry cobbler.

Both were very good.

After dinner, we were going to hit up a few more things, but we decided we were too tired and headed back to the Poly. Remember how long we waited for the bus this morning? Well, this time we only waited two minutes :D

All in all, great day! Not too hot or too much humidity--just rain! Can't wait for today at Epcot!

Great trip report! I love the fake monorails at the MCO as well :)

Wow! Live food porn and it's great! I'm loving your TR so far. Are you heading out to the park soon and which one?

i'm loving your live trip report ....except i'm very jealous that your experiencing these things right now!! (but in a nice way of course)

i'm so excited to read about 50's PTC - i love reading the reports of this resturant - they all make me giggle:rotfl2:

Love this! You're making me even more excited over our upcoming trip, and I didn't think that was possible!

Great stuff so far!! :thumbsup2 Very informative - I LOVE doing research!! ;)

I have a question for you - no rush on an answer - How are the crowds?? Both in the parks and in the restaurants.

We have only ever been in January when there are little to no crowds at all and I have heard differing comments on crowds during the last couple weeks of August.

Hope you have a fabulous Epcot day!! :goodvibes

Sounds like a great first day and I love all the pictures. Keep 'em coming! They transport me right to Disney and I can close my eyes and experience all the sights, sounds and smells from memory! Can't wait to hear about your day in Epcot!

Really enjoying your report...it's the next best thing to being there!

Looking forward to Day 2.

More than happy to help:

1) The flight offered wi-fi. It was $8, but I was bored so I sucked it up and paid it.

2) I use three different apps to create my trip reports: the Notes app that came with the phone, the Photobucket app, and the DIS's eTicket app. Since the eTicket app doesn't have multi-tasking yet, I compose the report in the notes app so that I can switch back and forth between that and the Photobucket app to get my picture links. The Photobucket app is very easy to use; the only problem it has is that it won't upload pics unless it is the active app, so I have to stay on that app while uploading. Then, once I am done the trip report in the Notes app, I use the copy function, open up the DIS boards on the eTicket app, and paste the report into the posting box. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions!

This totally helps - thank you so much! Have fun and can't wait for the next installment!

Quick update: Just finished lunch at Teppan Edo, which was great! Someone asked about the crowds, so I will quickly address that. In my opinion, the crowds have not been bad at all so far. The longest we waited was probably 30 minutes, and that was for some of the more popular rides. Many rides were walk-ons or close to it. There were some rides that had hour waits mid-day, but that is what FastPass is for! Restaurants are crowded, but we have always been seated for our ADR within ten minutes. Alright, off to ride a few more rides and then back to the Poly for a break. If I am not too tired, I will do the morning report then. Thanks again to everyone who is reading!

Heading for our first stay at the Poly in December and I can not wait!:cool1:

I do have Food & Wine in October first.....AKV...:cloud9:

This is fun...Thanks for posting these live reports...popcorn::Ready for more...

Sounds like you are having a great time.

Morning transportation doesn't seem to be our thing! We headed out to the monorail at about 7:10, and when we got there we saw it opened at 7:30 and decided to sit for a little bit. We walked back up at 7:25 only to find that the Epcot monorail was down and we would have to take a bus if we wanted to make it to our character breakfast on time. We didn't mind that much, but were a bit disappointed that we didn't get our first monorail ride of the trip this morning.

Luckily, the bus got there in less than ten minutes, and we got to Epcot right on time for our breakfast.

I love seeing a practically empty park.

They are hard at work constructing the new Mexican restaurant.

Not quite there yet...

Almost...

And finally...

When we arrived, it took a little less than ten minutes to check in. Then, we got our picture with Belle who cooed over our Just Engaged buttons and my ring. She told my prince to take care of me and never lose his temper. Once we were seated and ordered our drinks, we made our way up to the cold buffet where my fiancé got this:

And I got this:

Then they brought out the hot food:

There was bacon, sausage, potato casserole, and eggs.

By 8:50, none of the princesses had come to our table yet, so we decided to leave to make it to the rides by 9 (since we already had pictures with them from last year.) Overall, the breakfast was good, but I don't know if I would have loved it if I weren't on the dining plan. The bill came to over sixty for the two of us, and if I were paying out of pocket, I don't think that is worth it!

I will update with more details about the rest of our morning and our lunch in a few hours. Right now, we are on a friendship boat, heading towards the front of the park, and then we are heading back to the Poly for a break. I might post more then.

Thanks again for reading!

There is nothing like an nearly empty park, is there? :) I love it! Too bad about the monorail - between you and me, I think DH's head would explode. He's a monorail enthusiast. I hope he doesn't smack me if he reads this...:rotfl:

Ah, heading back to the Poly for a break - just like we do it! I CAN'T WAIT!

Enjoy!!!

Sorry to hear about the monorail. And the princesses never came to your table :confused3 Oye! Well, let us know about the RIDES!!!!

LOVING your report - thanks so much!!! It was so great to see your Poly pics, can't wait to get back there in April!

Before I start this part of our day, I wanted to add something I forgot to talk about in the last update. Before we left Akershus, the waitress handed us a card signed by her and all the princesses, congratulating us on our engagement. It was really cute!

Once we left breakfast, we headed for Future World with plans to ride Test Track and get a fastpass for Soarin.

Test Track had a 20 minute wait posted already, but it was really more like five minutes or so.

As always, Test Track was awesome!

Since my fiancé loves Mission Space but it makes me nauseous, I suggested he go ride it while I got fastpasses for Soarin and a bottle of water. He agreed that it was a good idea, and we made plans to meet up at Living with the Land. I got our fastpasses pretty quickly and on my way to go get a water, I saw the wait for Soarin was only 25 minutes. Hmmm, I thought, it will probably take him at least that long to ride MS and walk back over here, so I went on without him. I was actually able to get on in 20 minutes because they called for a single rider. When I got off, I hurried over to our designated meeting place, and he wasn't there. I thought I had beat him and went to go get my water. As I was checking out, I saw him walking up and waved him over. Well, when he got over to me, I found out that he had been able to walk on to Mission Space and had been waiting 20 minutes for me. Oops! He wasn't really mad at me, but I did get some gentle ribbing for the next half hour about it.

Oh almost forgot...a couple of Soarin pics for you:

Now that we had met back up, we went on Living with the Land. It was closed on our last trip here, so this was my fiancé's first time on it. I enjoyed it, but I did miss the live narrator they used to have when I was younger. Also, what happened to the Mickey tomatoes!? I mostly tried to enjoy the boat ride, but I did snap a few pics for you guys.

We got done this ride by about 10:30, but still had a half an hour before our Soarin fastpasses were due. What did we do in the meantime? Stay tuned to find out!
