Disney Wonder crossing the Panama Canal, Aug 26, 2016

We decided on the following tours, and we avoided a couple because I didn't want to be on a transport for an hour or more in one direction. I really wished Tulum was closer, and I was disappointed that Los Callietas was not offered. Our 9 year old picked everything, and I am sure we will have fun!! Now I just need to do my FEs and make Eva's pirate costume!!!!

Also, I know it's a long cruise. Our daughter just turned 9 and is super excited to go to the club. So anyone who wants to "meet" between the kids and get them introduced to the club together, that would be great. Eva is always eager to make friends and have a group to do things with!! We are on the main dining.
Thanks!!

Now I just need to do my FEs and make Eva's pirate costume!!!!

My name is also Eva...how funny to read you're making me a pirate costume. LOL.

The chocolate workshop sounds fun, but my sister worries about booking excursions directly so we're sticking with the DCL tour of the chocolate factory (WHAT??? The tour itself is free?). Sounds like everyone has booked some great excursions. We get to book this weekend.

I just read the Personal Navigators for the WBPC 2016 ... and they have a slot for Cheese Appreciation. NOT JUST ONCE either o.o I am so freaking excited to show my appreciation for cheese :goodvibes DBF is also as freakishly excited as me :hyper: Perhaps he's a keeper?

Hi everybody :) about four weeks ago I received a job offer in Florida and accepted. Last week I finished my job in Maryland and moved down to Florida 3 days ago. I'm looking forward to this trip even more now because I'll get to spend it with my mom who is still up in Maryland. Just about 3 months to go :cool1:

Congratulations on the new job!! ....... and on moving to Florida! That is awesome!

Thank you :) things are happening so fast. I'm house hunting now so should be able to cash in on Florida resident benefits this year.

Have you been able to find housing by now? And being able to cash in on Florida resident offers - lucky you! Guess we will see you on a lot of cruises now. :thumbsup2

I'm finding that my financial security is wavering (no idea what is going on with my job x.x)

Hope you get good news soon! :goodvibes

Day 13 - Wed, Sep 7 Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel Highlights, Ruins and Discover Mexico Cultural Park (CZ72)

Just a word of warning. We have been on this tour before and it was quite fun, but be sure to bring A LOT of insect repellent. There were swarms of mosquitos at the ruins just waiting for fresh blood. :rotfl2:We used two bottles to spray ourselves several times, plus we used it on the kids around us (with permission).

Keeping my fingers crossed for you to get what you want.
On the other hand, we have done MANY private excursions and will do so again and if you stick with a recommended group (check tripadvisor) you should be in the clear.

I just read the Personal Navigators for the WBPC 2016 ... and they have a slot for Cheese Appreciation.

I bookmarked the page and now I NEED to go back and find out about that! That sounds awesome.

DBF is also as freakishly excited as me :hyper: Perhaps he's a keeper?

Sounds like one! :goodvibes

No good news yet, BUT DBF is selling his awesome toolbox (he's an auto mechanic/tech/person) to pay for our land portion (after the cruise) to make up for not going in March due to my surgery. Yup. Definitely a keeper. Such a sweetheart.
I'm in the midst of getting my thesis proposal ready so that I may graduate from the University of Chicago with a Master's Degree ... lots of pressure.
With that, plus the 3 week vacation we are taking and moving out of downtown, it's just not feasible to get a permanent job in this area ... or anywhere really.
SO I'm searching for temporary jobs and such. If you or anyone needs remote data entry done, pass along my name ^_^

YES! I truly hope we have Cheese Appreciation on our cruise too lol

AAAAND at midnight, we can FINALLY book our Palo (if available) and excursions :) Oh and do our check in :D

Yay! Prepaid gratuities paid :D

Also, just booked our hotel room at: Holiday Inn Express - San Diego Downtown.
We are flying in the day before and staying at this hotel because they offer free shuttle between airport and hotel, as well as from the hotel to the port. Also, free breakfast and cocktail hour ^_^
Oh plus a free shuttle to some other local areas.
It's also very close to a liquor store so that we can pick up a few bottles of wine for the trip :)

And ... did anyone get the Zika notification from DCL? I hope it doesn't affect our trip too much :(

For anyone looking for Disney stuff, the Disney Store online is doing their "Twice Upon a Year" sale. I don't know how long it lasts. Shipping is free over $75 with code SHIPMAGIC. If you have a Disney Visa card, code DRVCMEMBER gives you $10 off $50. Lots of cool kids swimwear, pajamas and princess costumes, a fairly good selection of adult tees are available, though sizes vary.

We did get the Zika notification today, also. Not quite sure why we care 3 months early, but maybe its because of the pregnant women having such issues. We cruised in February to three islands that were in the list and had no problems, but we did make sure to use bug spray thoroughly. Since we didn't end up swimming/snorkeling anywhere, it wasn't hard to do.

Whooh! Did our online check in ^_^
I blame you Platinum and Gold members for getting the earliest PAT *shakes fist* :P

Our plans ...
PAT = 11:30-12
Day 3 - Cabo = Harbor Cruise & Scenic Stop (CL06)
Day 7 - Palo Bruch @ 11:30am
Day 13 - Cozumel = Caves, Caverns and Paradise Lagoon (CZ79)

That cozumel excursion is going to be EARLY ... 7:45am :faint:

I was hoping for the earliest PAT cause ... I just want to get on the ship :hyper: lol but other than a 30 minute delay there we got everything we were wanting :goodvibes

Good for you! :thumbsup2 we have never prepaid, but it is something I might consider, thanks for reminding me!

Free shuttle is awesome! We are staying at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside, got a great discounted rate for a waterview room on booking.com. It looks like the hotel is close enough to just walk over to the ship. :goodvibes

We did! I had kind of forgotten about Zika, but I guess we will stock up on insect repellent then.

I blame you Platinum and Gold members for getting the earliest PAT *shakes fist* :P

HEY, HEY, HEY - blame the Gold members!!! Platinum does not need a PAT - we are welcome to get on the ship whenever we want to. ::yes::

Day 3 - Cabo = Harbor Cruise & Scenic Stop (CL06)

See you there! We are on the same excursion. :woohoo:

Day 7 - Palo Bruch @ 11:30am

Guess we'll see you there too. We will be on our way out when you arrive. ;)

Congratulations on the new job!! ....... and on moving to Florida! That is awesome!

Thank you so much!!! :goodvibes first week of work went well. Lots of training right now, but they're all really nice. That makes all the difference in the world.

Have you been able to find housing by now? And being able to cash in on Florida resident offers - lucky you! Guess we will see you on a lot of cruises now. :thumbsup2

Still searching for a house, going to check on one today. Slim pickings but I have to find something soon, I can't stay in this rental too long. Yes, hoping to squeeze in more cruises :hyper:

Considering doing this cruise last minute.
Have some questions. Been a while and forgot how to post :crutches:
Do you get off in Panama City and are there opportunities to rid the railroad there?
What has Disney told folks about Zika virus?
Are there private tours for Cartagena?
Sorry for my brevity but we have to book today.

No, we only sail through the canals, we do not get off in Panama.

Disney sent out an email telling us to keep an eye on the warning level for travel and, in essence, use a lot of bug repellant.

There are private tours outside of DCL, you just have to do your research. There are some port adventures for Cartagena that DCL has. When I checked in, I think the private vehicle tour of cartegena was sold out.

Hope you book :)

Thank you so much and congratulations on your new job! Is there any specifics or themes for this fish extender group?

Thank you so much and congratulations on your new job! Is there any specifics or themes for this fish extender group?

Welcome!
Great to have you here.
All I need for the FE are your first names (which I guess are Doug and Jilly?) and your stateroom number once you get it. No special theme for the FE, it is up to you if you do individual gifts for everyone in your stateroom or one stateroom gift, just make sure you exchange at least once with everyone on the list and the only rule is to have fun!

I will add you to the list tomorrow, as I am in Europe and it is time for bed. ;)
