DISmoms Round TWO! Don't Axe, Don't Tell!! 4/30-5/4/10 updates 9/17

Tonight was EMH, so we went down to the shops- Pam was interested in purchasing a sake set, and found the perfect one! Joan was looking for a late night snack-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0093.jpg

We decided we needed to go on at least ONE ride, so we all hoofed it across the park to ride Test Track- getting in the single rider line to save some time, because stand-by was 40 minutes! :scared1: I REALLY wanted to ride with Lonnie, because it was her first time ( to review from past TRs, Loni gets motion sick so doesn't go on a lot of rides). We were lucky enough to be put together!!! I LOVE that single rider line!!

All the single riders! All the single riders!! Totally singing NikkilovesWDW!'s song in my head!

We thought about going over to Soarin, but decided to call it a night because, well for me, anyway, I had been up since 4 am and didn't want to ruin the rest of my vacation due to exhaustion. HOWEVER....we of course had a nightcap back at the villa and gabbed for a couple of hours before finally hitting the hay. Because that's what DISmoms do- Gab until the wee hours because....we CAN!!! We don't have no stinkin' kids to be quiet for!! :dance3:

Next up...even on NO SLEEP, breakfast at Kona's ROCKS!!! :cheer2:

How any of y'all were able to walk back to your room at all - I have no idea!?!?
Still sounding like a great time and we aren't even past day 1, right?!

Patiently waiting for more.
Lara

EXCELLENT update, Ellen!

ahhh....Kara wearing the now-infamous flip flops of pain. Looks like Cammie and Kara were having trouble walking a straight line....or at least walking like an Egyptian. (Shouldn't there be an Egypt in the WS?)

Joan & I got Sake flights-

I just LOVE the friendly skies!!
2010_0504dismoms2010water0073.jpg

Nice!!! I had no idea you could do a sake flight in Japan! I feel like such a rookie.

Finally our food came-I had a Dynamite roll, which was a California roll with wasabi mayo sauce topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, scallion & spicy green smelt roe-

Kara had a spicy tuna crunch roll-

I think I just drooled a little on my computer monitor.

Love the "All the single riders....All the single riders....whoa oh oh...if you like it then you shoulda got a FastPass for it! (sorry...just trying to contribute.)

Great update! Looking forward to Kona breakfast!

What a great place to watch Illuminations from! I've never been able to make out anything on that glove except for running horses and perhaps some Native American children? :confused3 What a good idea to watch from the top of the stairs...I'll have to try that....

Hahaha! You totally inspired that song by pointing out the poor single rider next to me and Tom in our Test Track picture!

Did you the video of the CMs who made their own Single Riders song? :scared1: I was sooo depressed when I saw that someone had "stolen" my idea! I still think my lyrics were better ;) and I plan on making a music video for it on our next trip. Thanks for the shout-out!

It probably does look like alot, but really it wasn't. I personally had 4 or 5 drinks over the course of maybe 9 hours. :confused3 The sake flight isn't as big and scary as you would think- there was not a whole lot in each glass. SOME of us, tho, had a little more to drink than others....:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Yes, there SHOULD be an Egypt in Epcot!! I think that's something that has come up once or twice...just imagine the rollercoaster they could put inside THAT pyramid!! :worship:

The sushi was yummy- I really would like to go back there and REALLY have some sushi, tho. When Pods & I were there for that F&W sake pairing last fall, all the sushi we had was TDF! well....there's always a next time!!

Hey Ellen and the other Moms!

Marking my spot here...gonna have to catch up another time cause it looks like I have missed a lot already!

Hi Dismoms! I just found your trip report. What an awesome idea to take a trip to WDW without the kids! A true vacation. I am green with envy.

Subscribing and all that jazz....

Hey Dismoms!!! I just found this TR and glad I did. You all look like you had so much fun and it was only day 1! Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!

I was pretty surprised all that stuff was on there, too!

Hahaha! You totally inspired that song by pointing out the poor single rider next to me and Tom in our Test Track picture!

I forgot that you did that song from my comment! I was singing it in my head the whole time we were in line, and then TOTALLY thought of you and Tom in your pic when we got up to the photo part! I LOVE that pic of you guys- it's my favorite TT photo ever!! :rotfl:

No- I haven't seen it. Where is it? They ripped you off girlfriend!!!

Mmmm, that sushi looks really good! I'm in awe of everything you got done this day!

Yea- I feel like we made the most of our first day. :thumbsup2 I liked the not ordering a whole meal at the ADR restaurant so we could try more places- I've never done that before. We did it the next night, too. Kind of. :rolleyes1

Hi Katie! Thanks for coming over! :woohoo:

Hi elle bell! Thanks for subbing!! :goodvibes It IS a true vacation for ALL of us- as the trip went on, sometimes we broke off from the crowd to do our own thing- which meant we all stayed happy, because we were all doing what we wanted to do! :thumbsup2

Hey Dismoms!!! I just found this TR and glad I did. You all look like you had so much fun and it was only day 1! Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!

Hi pinkpixie! I'm glad you found us too!! We were definitely off to a great start on our first day- four more days of excitement to go!!! :woohoo: By the way- great DVC home!!

Great ending to a great day at Epcot! Thanks so much for getting the single ladies song back in my head, I had just gotten it out!!! :lmao:

Ellen....you and your sushi :sad2: :rotfl2: Actually it looked really good! I think a ride on TT was the perfect ending to your day....helps with the digestion! :rotfl2:
Good to see you are still flying the friendly skies!! ;)

Tracy

I'm so glad Kara was a good girl, sipping her chocolate milk! ;) Your idea of progressive appies and drinks is a really good one! I would love to do that some time! So far everyone lived through the day with the axe murderer!

Well dear ladies, thanks to you and this report we had sushi tonight for dinner. It was very, very good, almost as good as Tokyo Dining which happens to be one of our favorite places to eat in the whole world (Disney World that is). Wednesday night Sarah has Irish dance lessons and since I can not drive at night Dad takes her. They always eat dinner out and enjoy a bit of D&D time before the class (D&D=daddy and daughter) . I tagged along tonight just so I could have sushi. Sar was not too thrilled at first (she likes her alone time with each of us) but after I let her eat most of the scallops on my plate she was happy I came with them. Besides it was "my" idea for us to eat at our local "Sushi and Grill".

I am throughly enjoying the show!

Single Riders song still stuck in my head now too.. (PS Nikki's is soo much better I agree)

So Kara got a "Shirley Temple" :rolleyes1 lol

all the Sushi looked Yummy

I dont know how all you ladies could talk after all those drinks LOL :rotfl2:

I also should have added in my other post that I did not know you could order take out soup and pretzel bread from Le Cellier. This information has changed my life I think. Haha. I love steak don't get me wrong but one of the main reasons I go to Le Cellier is for the pretzel bread and soup. I am def. doing this for my October trip. Thank you for the information!

Great ending to a great day at Epcot! Thanks so much for getting the single ladies song back in my head, I had just gotten it out!!! :lmao:

HEY! There are worse songs that could be stuck in your head...last week I had an entire day of the Brady Bunch singing "Sunshine Day" in my head thanks to a friend on FB...oops...oh, CRAP!:rotfl:

Tracy, you KNOW I LOVE flying lessons!! I have a real thirst for knowledge! :rotfl:

Well, Kara is just sooo well behaved. Except when she's talking about her dog, Bucky...

How was the sushi? That happened to me once on here, too- I saw a little too much food porn, and HAD to have sushi that night!! Glad Sarah adjusted to you being along- scallops would be a selling point for me, too. Why can't you drive at night?

:

To have "Sunshine Day" stuck in your head. :scared:

Regarding not driving at night, I cannot "see" well in darkness, driving or just walking. I tend not to see the opening for driveways, etc., if walking, I miss seeing the edges of curbs, etc. I see fine when it is light, with and without my glasses but once the light is dim I am a dangerous driver or walker. It is no big deal, I just have other folks drive for me. It is just one of those little hiccups we all have in our lives. The plus side, I am never scheduled to teach a night class nor an 8:00 a.m. class. ;)

Opps, edited to add, sushi was very good. It is the first time I have had eel on sushi and I liked it!

Hello Ladies :wave2:
Joining in very late here but love your TR
The photos are great and you look like you are having an absolute blast
Can't wait to read more of your adventures popcorn::

We were up in the morning- many of us had not had the best night's sleep, so we were stumbling around a bit. A lot of it has to do with the air conditioning system at BCV. BCV, on the VERY plus side, has the thermostats that will go down below 68 degrees, which I LOVE- the room will actually cool off, and it will stay cooled off all night. (My experience at the newer resorts is that the air turns off when it detects no motion, like at night when people are supposed to be sleeping- I know, I know, I need to learn how to override the system). Anyway, the BAD thing at BCV (or in our villa at least) was that while the livingroom was icy cold, the MB was not as much- it was very uneven. Which meant that either Joan was freezing and didn't sleep out on the pull-out in the livingroom, or we were sweltering back in the bedroom and I couldn't sleep. Next time, I would call housekeeping asap after checking in and get more blankies for the couch sleeper. Anyway.....we may have been tired, but we WERE in WDW after all, so the adreneline kicked in and we headed for the strongest coffee on property- the Kona coffee press!! Cammie stayed behind, she was in the mood for a relaxing day with a lot of pool time, so that was fine! Lonnie drove us over, and we valet parked, using my TIW card for free valet parking.:thumbsup2 I know someone else has pics of us outside before we went in, but it's not me, so you'll have to wait for those- here is inside-

The lego competition downstairs where we walked in. Isn't he cute?-

2010_0504dismoms20100001.jpg

I always love that lobby, someday we REALLY need to stay here-

2010_0504dismoms20100002.jpg

2010_0504dismoms20100003.jpg

We were handed a buzzer, and in five or so minutes, we were sitting down-

2010_0504dismoms20100004.jpg

First things first, bring on that Press Pot!

2010_0504dismoms20100005.jpg

Joan REALLY wanted a Tink- the server told her if she ordered OJ she would be happy to put it in a Tink cup.

2010_0504dismoms20100006.jpg

Lonnie had a mimosa, and a few of us tried the Lilikoi juice, which was a passion fruit, orange and guava blend-

2010_0504dismoms20100008.jpg

2010_0504dismoms20100007.jpg

We all liked that juice- it was yummy, but it was also kind of heavy. I had been talking about how AWESOME the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes were on my last visit, and how I would NEVER come to WDW again without them! So most of us were ordering those-

2010_0504dismoms20100010.jpg

2010_0504dismoms20100009.jpg

I prefer savory food over sweet, so these pancakes are perfect for me. Pam was planning to order the Tonga Toast, but then switched to the pancakes because we were all getting them, and I guess I had talked them up pretty BIG! BUT.... then we convinced her to try the Tonga Toast because she has a big sweet tooth- so she ran after the waitress and changed her order. I was so happy she did, because I think she said she LOVED the Tonga Toast! For the rest of us, it is just too, too sweet. I told her that we would have more than enough pancakes to go around and we would all be happy to share- which we did. VERY big portions at Kona.

2010_0504dismoms20100012.jpg

2010_0504dismoms20100011.jpg

But Joan ordered what I thought was the best thing of all- even, maybe, better than the pancakes! :scared1: She got the Somoan, which is poached eggs with hollandaise served over pulled pork hash.

2010_0504dismoms20100013.jpg

:worship: :worship: That was INCREDIBLE!!! Can't wait to go back in September with Pods and order the Pancakes and the Somoan!! YUMMMMM!!!!

The great thing about having breakfast at Kona, besides the really awesome food, is that you can hit MK so quickly when you are done. Which is what all of us did afterwards....except for Loni, who was driving back to hang with Cammie by the pool. :beach: Joan, Kara, Pam & I headed for the monorail, taking just a couple of pics at the Poly on the way-

2010_0504dismoms20100014.jpg

2010_0504dismoms20100015.jpg

Man, that resort makes me REALLY want to go back to Hawaii!!! Good thing my 25th anniversary is coming up soon! :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

Up next- Move it! Shake it! And....hellooooooooo Mr Pumpkinhead:eek:????
