DISmoms Round TWO! Don't Axe, Don't Tell!! 4/30-5/4/10 updates 9/17

Great update Kara & Ellen!!

Kara, I want one of those cucumber margaritas right now. I loves me some tequila!! That flight looked awesome! Flip flops in WS?? Wha?? I would think after all those drinks you would not be feeling any pain whatsover!! :rotfl2:

Ellen, the shrimp ceviche looks absolutely amazing. We have never spent much time in the Mexico pavilion......the Ditch will definitely be on my 'to do' list in the future.

Rosie, how are you my friend? I'm afraid last year's tutu might have to be enlarged a size or two for this year!

Cammie, welcome back! So great to see you on here! What's the deal with the new DIS account?

Happy belated Birthday, Lonnie!!! Yes, I'll have one of everything on this table.

"Drink in hand!!" Best way to start a trip. :drinking1

Tequila, my favorite drink, that and red wine. Sounds like a wonderful beginning for all. :woohoo:

Kate

Well of course it's the best way to start a trip!!! And finish a trip! And all THROUGHOUT the trip!!!!

Ok let the party begin.. Im here now LOL

AHHH ive missed so much..hold on got some catching up to do LOL.

You are right on track! We've only just begun.... queue Carpenter's music now.....

Thanks for the directions to the tequila bar. We were at WDW Sept 18 thru 23. The place was open then, but we just couldn't find it. I know that I won't miss it the next time.

I'm so ready for a girls trip, but none of my BFF's would go, they are done with WDW since their kids are grown. Think that I need to find some new Disney going friends! :lmao:

WHO could EVER be done with WDW???? Sounds like you need new friends!!! :rotfl2:

Great TR. I have been absent from the boards for about 6 months. Too much work and too little time. I come back and find this wonderful trip report to get me hooked again.

Lucy

You picked a perfect time to get back on the DIS! Queue Carpenter's music again.....

loving it not even through the 1st full day and the drinking has commenced! girls after my own heart!.

So was HMH ever spotted.. or is sailor boy the new HMH? lol

Sadly, HMH was never officially spotted. Or unofficially for that matter..... But Ellen did inquire at RR and just by giving the description, found out he's a manager and was on vacation.... :sad2:

Okay, okay.......I'm here!!!! :cool1::banana:

And for my first post, I'd just like to state for the record that I was the ONLY DisMom on this trip who did not require any bandages on any part of her feet throughout this whole trip. Teva Mush flipflops, FTW!!!! :thumbsup2

LOL at the patheticness of my new account.

It's Cammie, btw. And Alan, thank you for your kind words! :)

Teva mush mouth show off!!!! Glad you're back! ;)

......WHERE TO GO 4 great liquid refreshments:lmao:!

Thanks 4 the tip when I check out Food & Wine Festval in Oct:goodvibes.

P>S>....love the pic of the hot tub! WOW!!

Lovng yer tr!:)

Hot tub? What hot tub? Is that where you girls all went when I was all alone????

Massages and drinks! That's a fantasy day. :cool1:

Sorry about the blisters ladies. I've made the same mistake of thinking it's ok we won't be going that far right now. :rolleyes1

Ellen I hope everything worked out with Sean for August.

Cammie in disguise? :rotfl:

It was a rookie mistake. I'm so embarassed! :guilty:

Joining in so that I can read along with the fun.
Hoping I will be invited to join the next time!
Oh wait, do you HAVE to have kids?

Kids? None of us remembered having kids for FOUR days.....

Great update Kara & Ellen!!

Kara, I want one of those cucumber margaritas right now. I loves me some tequila!! That flight looked awesome! Flip flops in WS?? Wha?? I would think after all those drinks you would not be feeling any pain whatsover!! :rotfl2:

Cammie, welcome back! So great to see you on here! What's the deal with the new DIS account?

The cucumber rita was my favorite - I tried the passion fruit, blood orange, and jalapeno (and I really liked that one, too!) but the cuke was my fave!

I was so excited and happy that Lonnie had finally arrived when we got back to BCV!! Usually, Lonnie has arrived to WDW on our trips right around the same time as I have....but....two weeks before we went, Lonnie got a job...so that would mean our plans would be changing a bit- instead of being with us from beginning to end, she was arriving after school had let out (she got a job working as a paraprofessional with an autistic boy in an elementary school) and would, very, very sadly...be leaving to go home on Sunday night. :sad1:
Well, I wasn't going to think about that THEN, I was just so happy to see her!! And what was REALLY cool for me was that she and Joan immediately connected right away. Not much makes me as happy as I am when 2 of my closest friends get along so well- LOVE IT!! Anyway, I think Joan & I took speedy quick showers (that would make my 4th one of the day!!) and got ready in a flash to get over to the DITCH as fast as was humanly possible! Those other DISmoms were in the lead on the cocktailing, and there was no time to waste!!

Oh yes we were in the lead!!!! And not slowing down to wait for you and your oh so relaxed tushies!!!

2010_0504dismoms2010water0053.jpg

It was a little crowded in there (probably the most crowded we saw it all the times we visited- oh yes, we went more than once to the Ditch, DUH!!) but we managed to get a spot at the bar and placed our order. I was DYING to try a Jalepeno Margarita-

Hell-ooooooooooo RITA!!
2010_0504dismoms2010water0054.jpg

Can I just say, this is, hands down, the very, very best Rita of all time. It is not spicy, it is just very, very refreshing, and is made with slices of jalepeno (minus the seeds) and slices of cucumber, muddled in the bottom of a glass and then shaken with a plain rita made with tequila, lime juice, and agave syrup. It is PERFECTION. Both Lonnie & Joan wanted to try the Blood Orange Rita-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0055.jpg

Our plan for this night was to eat a little here, then eat a little at Tokyo Dining, not really ever ordering a full meal and sharing most of what we had. A great thing to do on a girlie trip. So we ordered the two things I had seen raved about most on these boards- Crab tostadas and Shrimp Ceviche.

2010_0504dismoms2010water0057.jpg

2010_0504dismoms2010water0056.jpg

2010_0504dismoms2010water0059.jpg

O.M.G. I don't even have the words to tell you how amazing and delicious those plates of food all were. Very, very super-uber fresh, the crab tostadas you could tell were made just for us. Nice and spicy, too. Yummo times 20!! And that shrimp was TDF....so, so great. We decided we all have a new best love here at WDW.

Soon we were joined by Kara, Cammie & Pam! WOW, did they hoof it fast around that lake!! No wonder Kara had blisters! :rotfl:

It was all you Ellen. We'd been apart now for 3 hours and I was missing you terribly!!! Just had to run across that lake. Yes, across that lake - I didn't even take the promenade. Just walked on water for you!!!!

Did I mention Lonnie's birthday? It was 2 weeks earlier in April. So of course I had noted it on our room ressie, and had a button waiting for her when she arrived. Which she really didn't want to wear. Until I told her a birthday button = free stuff at Disney. So like a good girl, she put it on! And her first freebie? A nice shot of tequila from our new BFF, Pepe in the Ditch-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0060.jpg

2010_0504dismoms2010water0061.jpg

I must say, I really enjoyed Lonnie's birthday!!!

Well, lonnie is not much for shots- but we Dismoms REALLY are so helpful, so her gift did not go to waste!! As a matter of fact, we enjoyed it SOOO much, we decided to order some more (at the persistant urging of one of us who kept saying, "Do you want to do another shot? Because i'll do another shot. Does anyone else want to do a shot of tequila? Because I'd be up for that!" ):rotfl:

2010_0504dismoms2010water0062.jpg

2010_0504dismoms2010water0064.jpg

2010_0504dismoms2010water0063.jpg

The shots of tequila are served with shots of their bloody mary mix- which tastes just as fresh as everything else does there. It is spicy and yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. It's a good thing we had an ADR for TD to get to, because if we hadn't, I think we might have never left- as in, this entire TR would be about 5 days in the Ditch with our new favorite friends from Mexico, and how sleeping under a table for 4 nights is really not so bad!! :rotfl:

2010_0504dismoms2010water0065.jpg

Time to head to Japan! Ole!

Ole? In Japan? How much DID you drink in the ditch???? :sad2:

Ole is right! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 for the Ditch! Those are some amazing cocktails and those bartenders are kind-of cute. Awesome, awesome update. Good thing you stopped sending me pictures by that point or I would have cried myself to sleep seeing all that yummy tequila go down the hatch. You moms are off to a great start.

Oh - and I love your Epcot picture. Its really beautiful!

OK- just back from catching up on your TR- sorry to be so late! You DO need a girls trip, if that's how those men act on your trip!! Have you figured out where you're going to stay on that one for next year? And isn't the Sept one a girls only trip? And really?? back to the room for tv and computer in the middle of the day??? Did they know where they were?? :rotfl:

Seriously - they made me feel like I was still at home everytime they would turn on MSNBC and start checking stocks on the computer. Ugggghhhhhh! My September trip is a girls only trip! It should be lots of fun. I definitely need a do-over in the Epcot department. I missed a lot.

Not sure where we will stay in May. I was thinking about trying to conserve points a bit and getting a couple studios at OKW. I'll try for BWV or BC at 7 months, but if I can't get it I'll go OKW. I like that the studios have two beds. If my soccer mom friends don't want to go in May maybe I will try to travel solo around the same time the Dismoms return.

Between the massage and the fun at The Ditch, I am beyond green with envy!!! You girls sound like a party waiting to happen!:rotfl:

Ohhhh The Ditch :lovestruc
We had a pretty big dismeet there on the 5th....I had the blood orange and the classic....Soooooo good. I had a habanero one at the stand in DTD and that was good too. I think I will try them all in October :rotfl2: Well it IS food and wine ;)

Tracy

Great update Ellen !! The food looks awesome and the drinks too !!!Sorry I have not been around much I am working almost non stop and am at the moment at work !!! Trouble with Dissing at work is I have to keep stopping to WORK:lmao:

AHHH, i hope i have as great a time on my BFF trip at the end of june. We only have one park day and trying to figure out which one to do. right now we are thinking HS but may have to change it. Love the updates and please keep them coming!popcorn::

It's been a very crazy and hectic couple of months for me. We are being transferred BACK to SC and none of us are happy about it. We LOVE living in Florida, and of course the proximity to WDW! So my stress level leading up to this trip was seriously in the red zone.......

But for now, what stress????

Joining in on your TR! But I was curious as the story of you moving back to SC? Maybe I missed it if it was mentioned somewhere. I live in SC, so was just wondering. I would love to live closer to Florida, but at least you can do the drive from here to WDW in one day.

Oh wow that food looks yumma and those shots and cocktails, yes please :teeth:

What better place to have a DISmeet than the Ditch!!! Guess that's why we were always so happy there!

I think you have your priorities wrong Rosie!!!

oh ya.. I can totally see the "arm twisting" to get you to drink with the bday girl LOL

I, of course, was hiding in the back doing crossword puzzles and drinking chocolate milk out of a twisty straw. Love those crazy straws, chocolate milk looping all around!!!

We moved to FL almost 3 years ago from Spartanburg and we're being transferred BACK there!!! Closing on new house is scheduled for Monday so keep your fingers crossed!!!

Oh wow that food looks yumma and those shots and cocktails, yes please :teeth:

I didn't try the food, don't know what I was thinking, but the drinks (chocolate milk, of course) was great!

:goodvibesLooks like all of you had so much fun!! Can't wait to read more about the trip!

;)

Did we have fun??? Can you say DISmoms Round THREE for 2011??????

Like we really believe you were drinking Chocolate milk. :lmao: I bet there is a photo showing elsewise. (Is elsewise a word?).

Ole? In Japan? How much DID you drink in the ditch???? :sad2:

You KNOW how much I drank in that Ditch- and it wasn't through any twisty straw, either!!

And thanks for running on water for me. I had your chocolate milk waiting for you, and I HATE when you have to drink it warm! :rolleyes2

Pictures? What pictures???? And yes, elsewise works for me..... especially after all that chocolate milk! ;)

It keeps me focused so I can take care of the rest of you.....

Oh, then you'll be about an hour from me! How neat! I've been to Spartanburg several times. I love to go to the Beacon and the Disney Outlet at the Disney Distribution Center not far from there.

Jalepeno Ritas and chocolate milk  in hand, we headed over to Tokyo Dining for our ADR.

2010_0504dismoms2010water0066.jpg

Some people were enjoying their chocolate milk a little too much already-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0069.jpg

2010_0504dismoms2010water0068.jpg

I headed up the stairs to the restaurant....only to be STOPPED by some other DISmoms who insisted we needed to check-in at the little podium at the bottom of the stairs-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0070.jpg

So I waited in line.....and then was told "Oh no...so sorry...you check in upstairs!"

The lovely woman who crowned me smartest DISmom-
2010_0504dismoms2010water0071.jpg

As we waited for our table, we finished our Ritas in Japan- is it WRONG to drink a Rita in Japan? O-FREAKIN-LAY, it's just FINE!! :rotfl: When we were seated, Kara followed her...ahem...chocolate milk with this suspiciously non-chocolatey drink-

Hey! Where's Kara's Twisty Straw????
2010_0504dismoms2010water0072.jpg

Joan & I got Sake flights-

I just LOVE the friendly skies!!
2010_0504dismoms2010water0073.jpg

We were sticking with our let's order more appys plan- and while we waited for the sake to kick in, Kara teased us with an upcoming tale (or is it tail???)

There once was a doggie named Bucky

2010_0504dismoms2010water0077.jpg

Who considered himself kind of lucky
He had a fifth leg
And he didn't beg
To get rid of that fifth was quite plucky. :faint:

FWIW...if this weren't the DISboards, I think I'd write this limerick a little differently, mainly the second line. But I'm keepin it clean! Well, as clean as any Bucky story can be....:rolleyes1

The DISmoms contemplate Bucky's plight-
2010_0504dismoms2010water0079.jpg

Finally our food came-I had a Dynamite roll, which was a California roll with wasabi mayo sauce topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, scallion & spicy green smelt roe-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0080.jpg

Kara had a spicy tuna crunch roll-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0082.jpg

Cammie & Joan had tempura -

2010_0504dismoms2010water0081.jpg

Lonnie & Pam wanted to have Teriyaki Chicken from the kids menu (yes, you CAN!)

2010_0504dismoms2010water0084.jpg

While we were dining, Illuminations began. Cammie ran out to watch (did Pam go too?) and the rest of us stayed inside and watched-

2010_0504dismoms2010water0086.jpg

Even though we were not right next to the window, we could still see very well (we were the next row over from the windows). Ya know, I was actually pretty impressed by the view from up in the restaurant- I could, for the first time, actually make out the images in the earth as it floated by- it was beautiful! I even saw the I love Lucy part!

2010_0504dismoms2010water0089.jpg

2010_0504dismoms2010water0088.jpg

I think next time I'm in Epcot for Illuminations, I may actually try to watch from the stairs and see how that is.

Cammie returned, and it was time for another freebie- Loni's chocolate ginger cake happy birthday serenade!

Doesn't she look so happy the restaurant made a fuss?? She just craves the spotlight, the big ham! :rotfl: ;)
