DISmoms 4 - The Hunt for Jack Sparrow

Once we got our Palo ressie, stalked the bride to be, and had our first DOTDs, it was now 1:30 and time to go check out our cabin!!!

Look! More booze!!!! Who knows us???

DSC_0088.jpg

It's Laura!!!! We missed you, too, Laura!!! Thank you!

DSC_0089.jpg

I wanted to take this print home. After the NYE Fantasy cruise, I just need to get on the Wonder and I'll have hit all four!!!!

DSC_0093.jpg

Once we dropped off our carryons, it was time to explore..... First things first, where are the adult only areas???? :rotfl2:

Here is the Quiet Cove Pool, adults only, thank you very much. A lot different than on the Magic, some good, some not so good.

DSC_0094.jpg

Good? It has a swim up bar. Well, since the water is only about 6" deep by the bar, I'd said it's a splash up bar. That is nice. Bad? Because it's only 6" deep that water is HOT!

DSC_0096.jpg

Not a lot of sun over the Quiet Cove Pool - they really took that "cove" seriously. And because there's not much sun, there's not much breeze. Or air. In fact, it's downright HOT in this whole area!

Unless you are in the water. Which, unlike the 4' depth on the Magic, this is about 5 1/2', so too deep for most of us to stand, which meant that everyone was clinging for dear life to the side of the pool.

Unless you were in the seating area..... That's another story. We'll come back to that....

Upon first glance, the Quiet Cove Pool looks really nice. Once there, however, I think I would take the very "plain" Quiet Cove on the Magic over the "pretty" Quiet Cove on the Dream.....

Nemo's Reef - I think this is the only place where toddlers can wear the swim diapers in the water? Great idea for the little ones, and very colorful, too!

The concierge sundeck:

DSC_0099.jpg

We peeked.... :lmao:

Looking down on the Vibe pool. Great idea to give kids their own "private" pool area (that can be checked out by parents from above... sshhhh, don't tell the kids and hope they never look up!!!).

DSC_0103.jpg

After all the snooping around, we were whooped! So we found a nice shady spot on deck and kicked back for a few..... And while this seemed to be a GREAT area in the beginning, it quickly became known as the 666 deck. We'll fill you in later....

Checking out my ride for next spring break!!!!

DSC_0102.jpg

DSC_0100.jpg

As much as I love DCL, I'm really excited for this ship next year!!!!

Checking out the Edge for Ally next time....

DSC_0107.jpg

DSC_0108.jpg

Almost time for....

DSC_0111.jpg

But first, we need to teach some newbies how to grab some flotsam and save themselves if icebergs cross our path!!!!

What a sweet girl, that Minnesoder one! :thumbsup2 I am usually one to be very excited about some sunshine, but it looks HOT on the Dream! Maybe it's because it's hot here this afternoon, IDK :goodvibes Love the splash area. Hmm, wade up bar - interesting - I wonder why they just didn't make it swim up since they're building it :confused3 Maybe they will start putting cool water running around that area when they get some feedback.

Where are Joan and Cammie sitting in tha 666 pic? It looks really relaxing!

I am still reading along and enjoying your report while I count down the days to my DREAM cruise. Can’t wait to hear about Palos....all the DOTDs and any wine consumed.;)

And picked up most of our baggage from bell services- we had made some purchases that we didn't want to drag on the ship, along with the 3 bottles of Guavaberry we had hauled down for Crazy Kara. So we left all that checked at the BW- stay tuned as to how THAT worked out at the end of our stay-
oh this sounds like its gonna be a good story

We did not need to stop as originally booked, because lonnie had picked up a case of water for us and a few bottles of wine for the cabin,
I LIKE HER!
as well as Kara had some Captain Morgan's with her.
OHHH I like HER TOO!
As you can imagine, we were all quiet and well- behaved on the ride to the port. I'm sure the driver (sorry, I don't remember his name either Kara!) was bored beyond all reason...see for yourself-
lol poor guy how ever did he stay awake on the ride there :rotfl:

click to play

yup I see teary type faces

I just LOVE that feeling when you are pulling up to the ship, and see her, and you know your long-dreamed of cruise has FINALLY arrived!!
YUP i love it too

Get a room!!

380.jpg

he's with the hussy still

I don't have a copy of that pic- hopefully Kara does, because although Joan & Cammie both took a lot of pics, they haven't shared them with us...hint hint...
sharing is caring girls! plus im sure yall have more IDTK (is that the ancronym for kara LMAO)

Time for the newbies to get onboard! 1st time through the ears!

381.jpg

awww virgins no longer

As for "newbies" they had to do LOTS of things we suggested, huh? Note: foreshadowing!!!! :rotfl2:
im afraid to ask.... im afraid of whats to come:worried:

DSC_0073.jpg

adorable love how you and El pose the same way lol

So when we arrived at the ship, the nice CM asked us for our family name.

We all looked at each other, let out some more giggles, and said DISMOMS!!!!! He checked out our shirts and then announced......

"The Disney Dream welcomes, personal guests of Captain Jack Sparrow.... The DISMOMS!!!!"
LOL PERFECT

Once onboard we raced up to Palo to snag some ressies for brunch, but I'll save the Palo pics for the Palo day..... Because first things first.....

Our first DOTD!!!!!
THATS MY GIRL!!! :thumbsup2

I guess you could say we were a little impressed...
I still have that look when I walk down main street

As Kara said, the first thing we needed to do was get brunch ressies at Palo. So we wiggled our way over...
So glad you were able to snag them, we didnt on our cruise :(

I have to say, we were in awe of every bit of it- and I also have to say, both Palo and Remy were beautiful- no Remy this trip, Kara and I are planning on it for our Fantasy cruise next year, tho. with the DHs. A few pics from Palo-
I havent read up much on the new ships but does Remy do brunch too or just dinners?

And I saw the $15k rat-
the only type im not afraid of

At least, I think he was $15k- somewhere around that number, anyway! While we booked our brunch, we met a bride (who was a CM) so of COURSE it was picture time!
how neat!

And then it was DOTD time!
WOOHHOOOOO Thats what Im talking about!!! :hyper:

400.jpg

Look! More booze!!!! Who knows us???

It's Laura!!!! We missed you, too, Laura!!! Thank you!
aww what a sweet heart!

I wanted to take this print home. After the NYE Fantasy cruise, I just need to get on the Wonder and I'll have hit all four!!!!
I got it.. fly out to the west coast and we will do the wonder together LOL who knows maybe Ally might like a short lil Cali dude:rotfl2:

Here is the Quiet Cove Pool, adults only, thank you very much. A lot different than on the Magic, some good, some not so good.
hmm now that i think of it i dont think i hit the adult only area on the magic.. maybe cuz i had a small fry then that wanted to do the mickey pee tube eww

Good? It has a swim up bar. Well, since the water is only about 6" deep by the bar, I'd said it's a splash up bar. That is nice. Bad? Because it's only 6" deep that water is HOT!
I was going to say SWIM? it would be more like beach whale up to the bar

Unless you were in the seating area..... That's another story. We'll come back to that....
i love story time

Nemo's Reef - I think this is the only place where toddlers can wear the swim diapers in the water? Great idea for the little ones, and very colorful, too!
are you planning for the grand kids cruise? LOL

Looking down on the Vibe pool. Great idea to give kids their own "private" pool area (that can be checked out by parents from above... sshhhh, don't tell the kids and hope they never look up!!!).
I can see the good in the but man can i see the bad in that.. only cuz Im thinking when I was a teenager and had vacation boyfriends OH MY lol

After all the snooping around, we were whooped!
already... oh no.. wheres the 5 hr energy? vodka red bulls?

So we found a nice shady spot on deck and kicked back for a few..... And while this seemed to be a GREAT area in the beginning, it quickly became known as the 666 deck. We'll fill you in later....
i love how everything you are going to tell us about LATER, or the story is to come .. LATER lol

But first, we need to teach some newbies how to grab some flotsam and save themselves if icebergs cross our path!!!!

remember 2 people CAN fit on a door as long as one of them isnt Rose

Hey that CM knew to make it good for all you Superstahs! :cool1:

A 15K rat? Only on Disney.

I can't wait to hear your comparisons of the pools. Thanks to DS loving the clubs, we got to spend quite a bit of time at the pool on the Magic. Although our sea days were quite windy that the water from the hot tubs was splashing into the pool. And then the rocking of the water... I'm onl 5' 2", and the pool levels would rock over 1.5 foot at a time!

Can't wait to see how you all fit in one cabin! Cozy! :crowded:

Soooo...that Miss Kara, she right, but she FORGOT a little bit....hmmmm.....maybe her DOTD was a little stronger than the rest of ours....let's see...

So Cabin 7072 was...very nice, just a tiny bit smaller that a cabin on the Magic. But we thought it would be fine for us, since we were not planning on being in there a whole lot anyway, right?

403.jpg

C'mon in Virgins!

405.jpg

Laura is right, there was another gift for us in the cabin- a bottle of wine from our travel agent, my friend, Marilyn-

406.jpg

And of course all that yummy stuff from Minnesoder!!!

407.jpg

Thanks, Laura!

411.jpg

There was also a NEW CC gift- a back pack! We LOVED the backpack waaaaaaay more than that drawstring bag they used to have.

Kara had already gotten one last month on her Magic cruise.

Unfortunately, it got lost in the shuffle.

419.jpg

Hopefully, this one will make it home with someone, I wonder who???....:rolleyes1 (Unfortunately, it is only one per cabin- whether you are all the same family or not).

Cabin secured, we went out to look for....the adult pool?

422.jpg

Well, yea, but no...not right now. And Kara was 100% correct about that pool- it was so STRANGE! Looks like a good thing, but....maybe not so much in the Caribbean. Or the Bahamas. Probably VERY nice for Alaska, tho!

The seating up there was really nice-

424.jpg

What were we looking to do now that didn't involve the pool?

FOOD! Cabanas, to be exact! Time to strap on the feed bags! Here is most of what was offered-

Cont'd later, I need to hit the gym (no doubt because of that buffet!)- I am also having some PB issues, and I don't want to lose my post! See ya soon!

I miss you, Peas!!!! :cloud9:

And I DID miss some stuff!!!! Like, how crazy is it that the ONLY way to get to the pool deck from Deck 11 Aft is to go THROUGH Cabanas???? This baffled me the entire cruise. I found it to be one of the strangest layouts ever. It's like the architects got all giddy over the ship layout and at the last minute said, "Ooops!" So you take the aft elevator up to Deck 11 and cut through Cabanas to come out on the pool deck....

In fact, we got lost trying to leave Cabanas and a nice CM (Ellen will be back with photo) had to escort us out of Cabanas to the deck. Weird. Just weird.

I miss you TOO carrots-

On with the food-

436.jpg

I know that was just asparagus, but it was soooooo delicious!

438.jpg

439.jpg

440.jpg

441.jpg

442.jpg

I had some of everything, it seems (hence the recent trips to the YMCA)

443.jpg

Soda choices-

444.jpg

Wait! There was more!

445.jpg

Well, I guess not much more of that!

446.jpg

Was that Broccoli & carrots I saw? :scared1: Kara Jean! Are you steppin out on me??? :rotfl:

I thought it was really, really a good buffet, and I was especially excited about the crab claws. I have tried them on the ship many times, and have always been disappointed- but these rock crak claws were FABULOUS! Also the lamb was yummy...

Lunch finished, it was time to head to the adult deck- but where the heck is it, anyway?? Up next!:goodvibes

Soooo...that Miss Kara, she right, but she FORGOT a little bit....hmmmm.....maybe her DOTD was a little stronger than the rest of ours....let's see...
you say it like its a bad thing

And of course all that yummy stuff from Minnesoder!!!
what a sweety

Hopefully, this one will make it home with someone, I wonder who???....:rolleyes1 (Unfortunately, it is only one per cabin- whether you are all the same family or not).
i was wondering about that. that sucks since both of you were castaway members

What were we looking to do now that didn't involve the pool?
get another DOTD !

FOOD! Cabanas, to be exact! Time to strap on the feed bags! Here is most of what was offered-
ok that will do also

Cont'd later, I need to hit the gym (no doubt because of that buffet!)- I am also having some PB issues, and I don't want to lose my post! See ya soon!

the gym.. not in my vocabulary LMAO

And I DID miss some stuff!!!! Like, how crazy is it that the ONLY way to get to the pool deck from Deck 11 Aft is to go THROUGH Cabanas???? This baffled me the entire cruise. makes perfect sense to me.. go thru cabans grab some chow hit the pool.. is there a bar inbetween cabanas and the pool cuz if so Im gonna be a happy girl:bitelip:

In fact, we got lost trying to leave Cabanas and a nice CM (Ellen will be back with photo) had to escort us out of Cabanas to the deck. Weird. Just weird.
I love that you guys are making all kinds of friends with the CM's

it looks fabulous and fresh nothing like it was sitting there for a while.. that was what our disney cruise looked like the 1st time

Lunch finished, it was time to head to the adult deck- but where the heck is it, anyway?? Up next!:goodvibes
cant wait

Oh Peas I forgot you took that video of our poor driver! He was a hoot!!!!

And of course you are right AGAIN with everything you said! Imagine THAT!

Whatever you do don't ever mention that one time... at band camp.... :rolleyes1

So once we got all our giggles out of the way - wait, I don't think we left the giggles for the next FOUR DAYS...... but once we got THOSE giggles out of the way, we were in the terminal in no time at all!

Check us in Mama Ellen!

DSC_0071.jpg

And of COURSE I have our pic with the Big Cheese (minus the hussy rat he was with earlier....)

DSC_0072.jpg

It was finally THAT time!!!!

DSC_0073.jpg

Nothing better than that loooooong walk from the terminal to the ship.

But then we were torn with.... the Introduction. Anyone who has ready my TRs (shameless plug for McSparkleson TRs!!!!), knows that we have struggled the past two cruises with the "Introduction." Should we use our real name? McSparlesons? Right Said Fred? :confused3

So when we arrived at the ship, the nice CM asked us for our family name.

DSC_0074.jpg

We all looked at each other, let out some more giggles, and said DISMOMS!!!!! He checked out our shirts and then announced......

DSC_0075.jpg

"The Disney Dream welcomes, personal guests of Captain Jack Sparrow.... The DISMOMS!!!!"

To which the entire ship started rocking back and forth as everyone rushed from all corners of the Dream to see THE Dismoms....

It's true... but I don't wanna brag....

Once onboard we raced up to Palo to snag some ressies for brunch, but I'll save the Palo pics for the Palo day..... Because first things first.....

Our first DOTD!!!!!

DSC_0085.jpg

Cheers to the DISmoms and our first DISmoms cruise!!!! Why oh why can't Lonnie get over her fear of innertubes in bathtubs?

EEP! I don't know what to get rid of in that post... :scared1: but really I just wanted to quote him saying: Personal Friends of cap. Jack Sparrow! I am SOOO wearing a Jack shirt the day we board for the Hawaii Cruise *my mom and I* LOVING this thread!!! More please!popcorn::

Wow! The food at Cabanas looks awesome for a buffet! Ours on the Wonder last year kind of stunk. I wonder if they have stepped it up, or if it's just because it's the Dream? :confused3

Wondering what the first impression of those virgins was? Anybody? Anybody? Ferris Bueller?

Ellen I'm loving you & the gals report!!!

It is making me want to go on a cruise! Hannah just turned 16 on this past Saturday & instead of a "Sweet 16 Party" which she wouldn't enjoyed we are taking her to Disney for a week!! A happy 16th bithday to her & to me!Hop

Hope all is well with you & your family, especially after the first day bus ride!!! I didn't send Hannah the next day, she was so happy! She has an iphone, & i heard on the news the day before to shut off all the navigation stuff to conserver the battery. It is back on now, so it you ever want to know whats going on, I can find the bus!!!!!

Looking forward to hearing about more of your trip!!

Terri
Hannah's Mom from TCI

Love the picture you posted from the adult pool with all the brown chairs that was by the hot tub. That corner is where we spent a lot of time while on our cruise in March - thanks for the memories. And the big round chair was Julie's chair. (Julie who is also going on the NYE cruise). She just loved sitting in it.

I just had dinner and your pictures make me HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the update - the photos are awesome and bring back so many fond memories, let alone add to our excitement of being there in 42 days.

Cabanas looks awesome - we have never been on sailaway day (we always went to Enchanted Garden), maybe we should give it a try in August. And I am impressed by your in room gifts - you have some mighty fine friends. ;)

I was waaaaaay behind-back on arrival day! :scared:

:hyper: you are on the ship!!!! I bet the newbies were in awe! I've heard so many mixed reviews of the Quiet Cove, I really wonder if they will change it up somehow during the first dry dock.
