Bypass on Main Street?

Out there, i know, but what about a side entrance into tomorrow land for contemporary walking guests (almost like DCA entrance for GC guests).

That looks like the area that you run through before you get to Main Street during the half marathons. Am I correct?

I can see it only being used for exiting during high traffic times and never opened permanently. Main reason being they want you to leave down Main Street so in the off chance you go in and buy a souvenir or if your child sees something they may want on the way out & will pester you down Main Street until you get it (never happens to anyone right?). It's also why there is always the convenient "tip" of cutting through the gift shop when high traffic on Main St. to exit faster. Rrrrrrrrright. The more people off Main Street the less purchases there are.

We were guided through this way entering the park last fall during Wishes. It did feel a bit like we were intruding on a work zone or something.

I've experienced it both going in and out. The "in" time was during the chrismas party near parade time when main street and the hub (early construction, very packed) was happening. Exiting the same thing, usually when there was a mass exit is when i've seen them open them to help get everyone out faster.

Interesting! I had no idea about this. We were actually escorted out during a Christmas Party along a backstage area exactly opposite this one on the other side of Main Street. I remember thinking it was sort of a bummer way to end the day (not really magical!), although it was cool to see the infrastructure of Main Street. Along the back of all the buildings they had a long line of cast members waving us all down toward the exits.

I'd love to see this walkway be accessible all year round. As long it has a great theme and no unmagical things, like a parking lot. I want to stay inside the fantasy world as long as on Disney property. I don't want to see a headless Mickey sitting out back smoking a cigarette with Ursula.

That's just imagery that I didn't even need to picture in my head either! :)

I get your point though (and agree).

To that end, I did do the Keys to the Kingdom tour and I loved it. With an engineering background, I love to see and know how things work, but when it's time for the magic, Ursula and Mickey need to go their separate ways (No more smoke break!)

You will never see a headless Mickey back stage, never ever!

Mickey always is in full costume unless he's in his dressing room. Not sure about Minnie as I never had her on the cast shuttle.

Will never happen, but I really like this idea. Maybe not for Rope Drop, but once the park has opened.

The was one thing they really fixed with Disneyland Paris, the Main Street blocks have a bypass hallway (vomitorium) that runs behind them.

Magic Kingdom has been really crowded this year as the most visited Park in the World (And I'm sure the crowds will continue to grow). They use the back alley pretty often. I have been steered into that path multiple times. I have to say, it REALLY loses the "magic". Bad show. Especially compared to walking down Main Street. Not up to Disney standards at all. I have seen people shoved back there that were on their first visit and never walked down Main Street. That was their intro to Magic Kingdom! They were a little confused. If you need a bypass, do it right (Like the one at DL Paris pictured above). This is your Flagship Park. They are doing a nice job fixing the crowd traffic at the hub but they really dropped the ball with the "Back Alley" instead of the Arcades to get to the entrance. Hopefully they will upgrade it in the future.

It's not finished its been used for a year or two now but it's been under construction for quite some time and is one of those slowly progressing things because it's used often like you've said. From the most recent photos I have seen and posted in the news thread it looks very good and definitely isn't finished. Also not denying what you've said because I completely believe it but your the first person to say that it hasn't done its job moving the crowds. It's main purpose it for during fireworks and parades. You don't have to use it either so I can't see why people would be forced too you are still allowed to walk down main street and through the stores.
