So this past weekend, Wingnut and I kind of overhauled our ADR list. Well, most of the meals stayed the same, but some were dropped, some were added, and some just moved days. So to avoid confusion (mainly, my own), here is our plan, in total, with what changed.
Also, I hadn't talked about our day 7 ADR's yet. Those are listed, with my ramblings about the one I hadn't rambled about included.
(You lucky readers, you!)
Day 1:
Lunch:
Sci-Fi Dine-In MOVED.
Epcot counter service
Neither of us were entirely set on having a specific ADR time to make right after arriving. We prefer the unstructured environment of World Showcase counter service meandering. There are several CS places that are being pondered: Im always a fan of Boulangerie Patisserie, Wingnut likes the Yorkshire Fish and Chips stand, or we both like La Cantina de San Angel. The best part about this kind of lunch: we dont have to agree on one place! (Not that we have too much trouble agreeing on where to eat, but there is a certain sense of whimsy and freedom that comes with Im going to France, you go to England, well meet somewhere between.)
Dinner:
La Hacienda de San Angel CANCELLED
Sanaa
My mom was the one who suggested we give Sanaa a try, and were both really excited to go here. Ive seen some great reviews, and this continues our trend of trekking to AKL 3 times during a trip to eat.
Day 2:
Breakfast: Crystal Palace
Lunch: Liberty Tree Tavern
Dinner: Citricos
Day 3:
Breakfast:
Kouzzina MOVED
Grand Floridan Café
Youll see the reason for this switcharoo in a moment
Dinner: Jiko
Day 4:
Breakfast:
Grand Floridian Café MOVED
Akershus
I know, I couldnt have seen this one coming either. But were actually pretty excited about this one. Heres how it all went down:
SB: (While switching day 1s ADRs) Is there anywhere else we wanted to go for breakfast? We dont really have much of a plan for one of the days.
W: Hmm. We could go to Kouzzina.
SB: We're already going to Kouzzina.
W: We could go to Kouzzina twice.
SB: (Jokingly) We could go to Akershus for the princess breakfast.
W: That's in Norway, right? What do they have there?
SB: (pulls up a menu and review).
W: Ooooh...lingonberry cream cheese! Let's go here.
SB: You know this is a PRINCESS breakfast, right?
W: I'll meet a princess. Hey, I want to try the herring!
This kind of breakfast really is, food-wise, right up Wingnut's alley. He loves things like herring that I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot-pole, and I'm excited about the other non-fish goodies. And they have cheesy potatoes. I love a cheesy potato.
So yes, Stringbean and Wingnut will now be going to not one, but TWO character meals. This is so unprecedented, I'm pretty sure this is how space-time continuums are disrupted.
Sorry universe. Wingnut now has visions of lingonberries and cod dancing in his head, and is set on his Storybook Princess breakfast.
(A note about Akershus: When we were discussing going here, I was actually pretty positive that we would be unable to get an ADR, since it's one of the few princess meals. I was honestly shocked that there were ADR's available every day of our trip (not many time slots, but availability - yes.) for breakfast (I didn't try looking for lunch or dinner). So for anyone looking for a princess ADR not exactly 180 days out, Akershus may be a good bet.)
Dinner: California Grill
Day 5:
Breakfast: Kona Café
Dinner: Artist Point
Day 6:
Breakfast: Boma
Lunch:
Sci-Fi Dine-In ADDED
Not wanting to entirely pass up Sci-Fi, we switched it to a day we didn't have a lunch planned.
Dinner: Via Napoli
Day 7:
Breakfast:
Whispering Canyon Café CANCELLED
Kouzzina
This is where the Kouzzina ADR ended up. Which works out pretty conveniently, since we won't have to travel too far on our last day.
Lunch: Le Cellier
This was the first ADR I made, poised like a panther over my keyboard, waiting for 6 AM exactly to strike. And a victory fist pump ensued at around 6:01.
(That was my account of the morning. Wingnut's goes more like "I woke up and was on my way to take a shower to find Stringbean on the couch frantically typing and screaming "DO YOU CARE IF WE GO TO CALIFORNIA GRILL ON A DIFFERENT DAY? DO YOU? DO YOU??? TELL ME NOW, IT'S ALREADY 6:03!!!"
(No, none of that was exaggerated for comedic effect. Sorry neighbors.
)
So Le Cellier. Does anyone else remember when this place was a cafeteria-style setup, and not the 1-credit steak hotspot it is now? Well, I have many great memories of Le Cellier throughout the years. I actually haven't been since 2008 (around when it became too overhyped for its own good, in my opinion...).
I'm interested to go back. Wingnut hasn't been, and wants to give it a try. So we're going.
(Admittedly, the cheddar cheese soup also did factor in heavily in my decision...)
So this is our plan! (At the moment!)
No really. I don't foresee us changing this (for at LEAST a month).
