A Stringbean, a Wingnut, and a plan! (A January '12 PTR) TRIP REPORT STARTED!! 1/16!!

I really need to get around to doing a Boma breakfast. I know I would LOVE it!

I was editing my Via Napoli pictures the other day and all I can say is those waiters ARE really hot! That alone is worth the trip. The sangria is also very good. Not sure what kind of pizza I had - still need to look at the menu, but it was yummy!

I really think you would love it!!! You definitely need to try it!!

Hahahahaha not gonna lie, I've seen that on quite a few reports from the place! Oooh, I love a good sangria! The sangria at Kouzzina is really good, if you go there.

Unfortunately, he doesn't perform at Port Orleans on Sundays. Here's a link to his website. Click on "Update and schedule" in the upper left to see his schedule...but it only shows a month-out. It looks like he's usually at POR Thursdays-Saturdays.

Thanks for the schedule!! I really would love to see his show one day, I've seen some clips and he seems great! :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE goat cheese scrambled eggs:worship:. Brandon makes them for me just about every weekend using cheese from the local creamery. I will have to give those a try and see how they compare! (Of course, if they're better than Brandon's, I'll have to lie to him.:thumbsup2)

I read this post last night and just wasn't ready to comment yet. Why? Because I was trying to get on board with the melon/prosciutto pizza. I spent a good chunk of time imagining myself enjoying it and trying to envision what it would taste like, and I've come to the conclusion that....no. I just can't give you a big thumbs up on that one. Sounds interesting, yes, but not interesting enough to try! But girl, you go for it and let us know:rotfl2:!

I will now have to start calling them GG Squishees instead of slushies. Like Nermel9, I don't know how I haven't thought of that already!!

Hahahaha I'm warning you now, the Boma ones are excellent! I'm sure homemade ones are even better though! I never even CONSIDERED making them at home...hmmm...:scratchin:laughing:

I debated this too, don't worry! It's kind of falling into a "why not" category for me at this point. I've had pineapple and ham on a pizza before, so I'm thinking this could be along the same lines. This could be the most awesome thing ever...I just can't take that chance of missing it!

(And if it's gross, I can always pick off the toppings! :thumbsup2)

(Wingnut is very used to me picking at and poking my food on a pretty much daily basis, this is nothing new )

He was there in 2D form, ie cardboard :lmao:

Wait just a minute!! What do you mean that there are no burgers at Sci-Fi?! There used to be!

If you hit Beaches 'n Cream during the non meal hours (between 2pm-5pm) then you can get in for sure. All the chairs do have backs. You can sit at the counter and watch them make the goody deliciousness :goodvibes Ooh and you can ask for Melanie, she is AMAZING!! :thumbsup2

I did see that Disney does have a Perry costumed character, but I think it's only for rare special events at the moment. Here's a link with info and a video.

I KNOW, RIGHT???? There is now a dearth of burgers at Sci-Fi, down to one at lunch, zero at dinner. I'm glad I wasn't just imagining this!

Thanks for the info about the chairs!! It's good to know the counter seats are comfy too! I love Beaches and Cream, it's the cutest and most delicious place ever!

I agree! That is the reason we've only done Sci-Fi for lunch... I've *heard* that you can order the burger at dinner, but there's no guarantees they'll make it for you...

That does make sense, but I'm allergic to popcorn so that's never even occurred to me!

I love goat cheese and I love scrambled eggs so that sounds heavenly...

Welcome!!! I've heard that about the burger too, but I'm not sure how much of a chance I'm willing to take! It's just so weird to me that they don't have it at dinner.

That stinks that you're allergic to popcorn! I totally get the random allergy thing - a bunch of spices and mango and peanut are mine!

The goat cheese eggs really are fantastic, I definitely recommend a breakfast at Boma - not only just for those, they do have other great stuff too! (But if you did just go for the eggs, I don't think you'd be the only one!)

Why can't I find key lime juice in my local supermarket?

(Sorry, got a bit off topic here. But a certain Wingnut's birthday is coming up soon, and key lime pie is his favorite!)

My boyfriend refuses to eat key lime stuff out here because 'it's not the same as in Florida.' Or fish - won't eat fish because we're not on the coast anymore. :sad2: And I thought I was picky! Good luck finding key lime juice (though I honestly can't tell the difference, I don't eat enough lime apparently!)

Boma does an awesome breakfast, with traditional offerings interspersed with good stuff like goat cheese scrambled eggs and fruit swimming in a combination of heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk.

These pancakes are the most wonderful thing I've ever seen. Pancake stamp/shapes are the best things in the world - I really wanted to get the Star Wars ones from Williams-Sonoma, but then I remembered it was Williams-Sonoma and thus terribly expensive.

I'm the worst with dining reservations because my dream restaurant is room service! Growing up room service was what people on TV did and thus it is forever associated with some lavish, luxury meal. I'm doubting it'd be that way at Disney but it's still so cool to have food delivered to your room. Otherwise, I'd probably pick the brewery because we've been indoctrinated with the brewery's dominance as a restaurant since moving to Colorado and they have an Arnold Palmer on the menu. Clearly I have a discerning palate!

these look so cute...wonder if they make these in a GF option...Naomi-Ruth would love them

I don't know why this didn't show up originally! I then totally forgot what I was going to tell you! :headache:

These little guys were made special for me so they wouldn't be cooked on the same griddle as the French toast (spice concerns - I had told them I'd had things cooked in the same area before and it wasn't a problem, but the chef insisted she make these for me! :goodvibes).

I'm not sure if they make a gluten-free pancake batter, but I'm sure that if it's possible, the chef would certainly be willing to try! Doesn't Disney make gluten-free Mickey waffle batter? I wonder if that's at all similar.

Based on my experiences at Boma, the chefs there are absolutely wonderful, and if they are able to, will try to create something that Naomi-Ruth would be able to enjoy!

Hahaha hey, there are some things that I'm hesitant to bake, because I know that there's no way they'll come out the way I know and love them (black and white cookies, for one!). I know that the key lime juice shouldn't be too hard to find, but it was just not on the shelves of my supermarket, for some reason! (Nellie and Joe make a good brand, if you do ever want to give it a shot!)

To be completely honest, if there were two key lime pies put in front of me, one with key lime juice and one with lime juice, I really don't know with absolute certainty that I could pinpoint which was which! But I do try to go for the key lime juice for that accuracy!

The Star Wars stamps are adorable, aren't they??? Did you see that they now have a whole Cars set? I can't go into that store though. It really is ridiculously expensive there. But it is fun to walk around, if I know I have to force myself to walk out the door empty-handed in the end!

From what I've seen, room service at Disney is pretty nice! I think they bring a tablecloth and other dining accouterments and make a table in your room all set up. The brewery is fun - it's pretty much standard pub fare with a TON of different beers!

Today is my wonderful, ever-patient Wingnut's birthday!!! :yay::yay::yay:

In honor of the occasion, I baked him his favorite: Key Lime Pie.

(Yes, of COURSE I have Mickey dishcloths.)

We had a bit yesterday for Wingnut's birthday eve (birthday eve's have always been an occasion in my family!)

Happy birthday Wingnut!!! I love you!!

I have the ever popular dishcloth in black.

Happy Birthday Wingnut. :bday: I hope this is the best one yet.

Wish Wingnut a Happy Birthday, from a stranger who is far too heavily invested in his vacation plans!

My plan is to definately get some more Disney kitchen ware, I keep wanting it now, especially that Color Fusion line online, but I think I will wait to see stuff in person.

and happy belated Birthday to Wingnut hope he had a great day :cool1:

I'm a day late, Wingnut, but the sentiment is the same--Happy Birthday!! Better late than never!

Love the picture:rotfl:!
I guess you found your key lime juice?!

Happy birthday Wingnut! That pie looks yummy! Love the Mickey towels, I might have to pick up a few of those on my trip! :cool1:

Mmmm, black and white cookies. Our 'traditional' Valentine's Day treat are red velvet black and whites. Almost as much fun to make as they are to eat! I love baking but sans dishwasher in our apartment and dishwashing is my chore, so mysteriously, there aren't as many fresh baked goods in our house anymore! I'll wait until we visit my boyfriend's family and they give us tons and tons of special Southern food (his sister went to culinary school and is thus in charge of holiday meals. Hurrah for that, says I).

Williams-Sonoma is just too pretty. I haven't been there for a while because there isn't any in Colorado (I think). We're finally getting a Sur la Table that's pretty close though! Cars is pretty much my least favorite Pixar movie (even counting Bug's Life). Where's the Wall-E stuff?! I demand Mo-themed pancakes!

We have a similar (cheaper) store in our downtown and I just love to go and look at all the pretty cooking tools that I really have no use for. I am getting better at walking out empty-handed, though - I practice with Target trips. :rotfl:

Aw, a little table is so cute! I'd have to check for a spy hiding underneath though - I watch too many heist films to not check. :)

Happy birthday to Wingnut! Love the card :thumbsup2

Happy Birthday Wingnut! Hope he enjoyed the Key Lime Pie!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WINGNUT!!!!!!!! :bday: :cake:

Thank you everybody for the birthday wishes from Wingnut!!:goodvibes

Hope he enjoyed the Key Lime Pie!

He did!!! We actually just finished it last night!!

(Does that make us sound like big piggies? Oh well...we are!)

I have the same dishcloths in blue!!

I have the ever popular dishcloth in black.

You guys are making me want to get more...:rotfl: Right now I only have the red...but there's always room for more dishcloths in my mind! (Especially when they're Mickey-covered!)

My plan is to definately get some more Disney kitchen ware, I keep wanting it now, especially that Color Fusion line online, but I think I will wait to see stuff in person.

I love my Disney kitchen stuff. Right now I have the measuring cups and spoons (the original ones with the Mickey gloves and shoes), a Mickey colander, a Mickey spaghetti spoon, the dishcloth, the "toothpick glasses" ;), and some assorted sprinkles. I'm sure there's something I've forgotten!

The key lime pie looks sooooo good! Good job :thumbsup2

Thank you!!! :goodvibes

thanks...yes they do have GF waffles...I will have to ask for sure :thumbsup2

Yay!! I'm glad to hear that! :goodvibes
