    Wednesday, December 1st
    Day 5 – Animal Kingdom
Weather: high of 71 degrees, low of 48 degrees
What we wore: pants and t-shirts / hoodies in the evening

The halfway point of our trip had our day starting with a 10am breakfast at Tusker House. This was another new place for us and I was really looking forward to trying it. Remember, Ariana and I had loved Boma's food and though this was a breakfast, I was looking forward to those little differences that made this restaurant so different then what we'd tried before.

As usual, we were late but I still snapped a quick picture of Demetri hiding behind the AK welcome sign and of course the Christmas tree....

It was a CRAZY dash through the park to try and get there on time....

... for them to tell us to sit tight and wait for our group to be called.

We were waiting forever it seemed. Which was tough since we had the later reservation to begin with and the day was moving along without us having done anything so far. Our group was finally called....

.... and we waited again at this point for our table to be ready. Seems Donald had to go and check on something in the kitchen. He was taking an extra long time so the Photopass CM grabbed my camera and took a few photos while we waited.

I was happy she'd used my camera when Donald came back and we didn't have to worry about turning the Photopass package down later on.

Seated in the farthest section, we came back to a yummy breakfast selection.

I hadn't even sat down yet when Mickey arrived!

The waitress laughed at me as Goofy came right after Mickey and she told me I couldn't yet sit down.....

Ok, now it's not as funny because Daisy came right after Goofy and I still hadn't yet sat down to eat anything.....

Finally we get a break and I sit down to enjoy my breakfast.

Then our waitress makes her way back and says the lunch food has now been laid out and we were welcome to head back to the buffets and choose from the new menu. Nice!

Having our fill of rushing for the day, no one was in a hurry to finish and move on. We enjoyed our breakfast and lunch and I took a few shots of the details around us.

When we did head out, I trailed back a little bit for a few more pictures...

Demetri was already asking to head over to the Yeti Ride - Expedition Everest - but before it got really busy, we wanted to take a safari ride!

I was so excited to actually see some animals this time! Each trip so far I'd mostly seen beautiful landscape.

Geez, you could have a staring contest with this guy... but you'd lose.

I loved it.... much better to see in the cooler temperatures! Making our way to Camp Mickey Minnie, we had one last sighting....

.... and we were off to catch up with our old friends Simba, Timon and Pumba. :cloud9:

Next up.... Demetri conquers Dinosaur (or does Dinosaur conquer Demetri? :confused3) and a Jingle Jammin Parade!

Very funny! Don't tell George that --- just let him know what a fabulous hubby he is for understanding my obsession.

Me too! I really liked Tusker House and all the posters in and around it were too funny.

Does anyone have a picture of the lion doing anything other than sleeping? :rotfl: Honestly, what a life!

Okay, so you had a late bfast reservation at Tusker and saw the characters and THEN they put out lunch so you can have BOTH!! I think this sounds fabulous!!! Characters, bfst, lunch foods AND low crowds from the changeover---we should all do it this way!!

What time was your ressie and since you paid for the character bfast did they stay late to ensure you got to see them since they called your family late?

I think my family would love this if it worked out the way it did for your family!!

    Great trip report!

 No problem! It was nice to have the lunch selection to go back to, but it may have been because we were late getting seated. At the time I thought it'd just worked out that way..... ? :confused3

Our ressie was at 10am but we were about 10 min late getting there and another 5 min or so waiting in line to check in. We waited half an hour before our names were called to go take pictures with Donald, but then Donald stepped away to the kitchen and we waited another 15 minutes before being led to our table.

So it was around 11am before we were led to our table and the characters had about a half hour to visit us before lunch was served. If we'd gotten there early to have some time in the park before our breakfast it would have been better, but that's our own fault of course.

I have! My very last safari ride, on what I think was my very last day at Disney... or maybe the day before my very last day. Either way. He was up for about 30 seconds, and I snapped as many photos as I could. Haha. Usually I just get a little tuft of hair.

Looks like a fun and tasty morning! I keep trying to go to Donald's Safari Breakfast but it always seems like something comes up that makes it so I have to cancel... I was booked for my trip next week but we decided to run the ESPN 5k instead... maybe next time :confused3 I can't wait to see your pics of Camp Minnie & Mickey and once you leave there, you'll be running in to me :goodvibes

Oh and :cool1: for your Sept/Oct trip! Looks like we may running into each other again since I'll be there Sept 30-Oct 2 with two of my college roommates to run the Wine & Dine half marathon!

    Great update!!:thumbsup2

You got so many wonderful pictures of the Tusker House.:goodvibes I don't know why but for some reason I got very little pictures when we went for breakfast on our last trip. I guess I was too busy looking around...and completely forgot about the camera.:confused3 (Glad you were able to get your picture with Donald..it turned out great!;))

YAY!!:dance3: for another trip!! I'm so excited for you...okay and a little jealous too.;) Seriously though that is such great news!:yay: Can't wait to hear all about MNSSHP!! It looks like so much fun!!

Congrats on the September trip!!!! I subscribed to the PTR and will get caught up ASAP.

I loved all your pictures of Tusker House, what a cool looking restaurant. Sorry to hear about the characters coming so quickly-that's a tad annoying when you are already hungry! The "no smoking" sign made me laugh out loud!

Oh yay!!! We'll definately have to set a DISmeet up! :cool1: You are a marathon machine girl!

Next week?! Man that's come up fast! I was going to keep going with my update last night but quickly realized my FOTLK pictures didn't load up into Photobucket properly and had to cut it short. Can't leave those out! ;)

Wasn't there just so much to look at? The details are incredible. I think the picture of us all with Donald the CM took with my camera turned out better than theirs -- I think Ariana grimaced and Demetri was looking away.

I can't wait for this Halloween trip! Ariana LOVED the MNSSHP we went to in 2007 and so did Demetri but I'm not sure how much he remembers. Alex still randomly sings the Boo to You song we heard all night. :rotfl:

Thanks! Glad you're coming over! :cool1:

That no smoking sign was my favorite  It was such a casual little sign with such a serious message, lol!

looks like a great start to the day! Even though I worked at AK for 9 months or so, I never ate at Tusker House! We could always smell the food from the one breakroom but I never made an ADR and ate there! The food looks pretty good! Your safari looked great too!

    It was very yum. :thumbsup2

Really? Oh you so have to try it!

The safari was something I'd really looked forward to with the cooler temperatures. Oh yeah, and that was the one day on our trip that was calling for a big rainstorm -- never happened! :thumbsup2

Ok I am caught up....that was one good hour of reading and looking at pics LOL

so love all your detail pix and man oh man I am so sorry you had a hoorible Day at DHS...stinky beyond stinky...but glad the next day redeemed it for you.

The pic's of the kids w/ the characters and Santa are wonderful and what fun that the Princes and Beast are in the Princess tents now (or well where ever they are now) that wasn't the case when we saw them in 08...

so Boma just not your thing or think the day led to part of not liking it...haven't eaten though so I don't know and at Tusker house very cool you go B and L on one tab...sweet! question on your food porn pic...was that some type of breakfast egg roll thing on your plate?

anyways I 'm here and looking forward to more...if you ever don't see me on another of your reports...will you please give a kick in the butt so I don't miss out ;) thanks

    J~
