A Daily Dose of Disney Drama! 5/02/13 PG 53 THE END

I'm subbing on...

Not only do I like your Dicken's reference (poor Sydney Carton...:sad1: I still remember that novel ...what selfless love...anyhow)

I was a child bride about the same time as you -did not get a trip to DW in 1972 but would have been five if I had... ;) and have also almost been married 24 years...

I have just started the coach 2 5k and my dream would be to eventually run the 10 mile ToT ...I'm sorry Caitlin wasn't able to run... that must have been hard for her...

Is that a "Brave" area your husband is in/at with the bow? Cool photo...:thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more...
Glad to have you along as we child brides have to stick together :)
Good luck with the training program! I hate running but I do like walking. Caitlin and I did the Expedition Everest 5k in 2011 and she was really hoping to move up to the 10miler. She began having health issues in August so she had some advance notice she wouldn't be able to run but it was disappointing nonetheless. I just tell her that she's young and has plenty more ahead of her :)

Yes Dale is trying archery in the "Brave" area. We had a great meet and greet there :thumbsup2

Hi Dawn and Caitlin! I'm looking forward to your TR. I've been following along on Facebook and can't wait to watch how everything unfolds.

I have got to say: I looked forward to the jalapeno margarita (June was our first time at the Ditch and we LOVED it there). Had to order it because I love hot stuff BUT did not love this drink. It had a sweetness to it that I just could not get past. Well there are plenty more to try the next time:thumbsup2

It is so disappointing when you try something new and it doesn't measure up. I don't drink so I have no idea but Dale does love it. He tried the cucumber, after I'd read about it on the Dis, and he didn't care for that too much. Hope you find one more to your liking next time!

I'm new here but I'm excited to read about your adventures! We were there at the same time, so I will be looking in the background of all your photos for me and my DS. :rotfl2:

Welcome to a fellow Michigander :)
We are big Tiger and Wings fans! Do you think we'll sweep Oakland or play nice and let them win just once? :)

Knowing the Tigers...they will completely lose it for a game or two. And seriously...I am sooooo MAD about this NHL nonsense!!!

I agree the Tigers have a hard time on the road this season. I think they'll lose game 3 and clinch it at game 4. Fingers crossed!

Caitlin is the biggest Wings fan in our family and she is mad too!

Hi Girls:wave2:

I am seriously behind but that's no excuse! I should have been here earlier, but I'm here now and can't wait to hear all about this trip!

Our tale begins VERY EARLY on Tuesday Sept 25th. Dale and I were flying out at 6:05am. The rest of the gang was meeting us at Disney on Friday the 28th. Why the difference, you ask? Well Caitlin is in her last year of college so she really couldn't afford to miss more than one day of school but Dale had the whole week off so we decided to go a few days early for a rare couples vacation. We'd do 2 nights at the Yacht Club and then meet them at Saratoga Springs.

Anyway, my plan was to be out the door by 4:30 at the latest. I was hoping for more like 4:15. Well I don't know why but it seemed harder to get out the door when it was just the 2 of us :confused3 We didn't get on the road until 4:42 and I will admit I was a bit nervous. Luckily the airport is less than 20 minutes away and by 5:15 we were at our departure gate.

Our flight was smooth and even with a stopover in Atlanta we still arrived at MCO by 10:10! Isn't it the best feeling when you arrive?! We cruised through the airport at record speed and made our way down to the car rental area. We had rented a compact car from Alamo for $108 for the week! I couldn't pass that deal up! Dale isn't a fan of renting a car on vacation but since I am very leery of the buses at SSR I insisted. Plus, we had several things going on that would have required a cab if we didn't rent.

It would in fact turn out that having a car would be a blessing and made things so much easier! We got down to the Alamo rental area and there was a long line so we did the kiosk, where you scan your license and reservation, and then head to the garage to pick out your car. Easy peesy! We chose an HHR because it had the biggest backseat and hopped in and drove out of the garage. Well we attempted to head out of the garage. We were stopped by security. Ummm it turned out that our scan hadn't processed and we were kind of...how do I put this....well we were sort of stealing the car :rotfl2: Talk about embarassing!! He was actually pretty nice about it and properly processed our reservation and sent us on our way.

Before long we saw that familiar "welcome sign" and knew we were home.
( I know I should have a pic of that...sorry!)

But this is the sight we were really excited about!

The Yacht Club Resort! We were super excited to arrive here and it won't spoil anything to say this resort did not disappoint! It is hands down my favorite Disney resort!

Since we were just staying there 2 nights we decided to splurge and booked Club Level with a garden view. Boy did we choose right! When you arrive for checkin for club level you are quickly escorted to the elevator where it takes a special card (a gold KTTW card ) to get the elevator to access the 5th floor. You are then directed to a desk where you get to sit in big comfy chairs while you are checked in. Then someone politely asks what they can get you to drink! I got a coke while Dale ordered a Sam Adams. Yes, this is the life! Our drinks arrived just about the time our checkin was complete so we took them to our room.

I loved this room!

How cute are these beds?!

I loved the dramatic curtains too! They reminded me of a theater

Oh and that garden view I booked?

The wedding gazebo! It was totally worth the upgrade!

This was the view looking toward the left

We both loved the room and the location but we needed to head out for our lunch reservation. We went down and got the car and headed over to the Poly. Yep, we were off to Kona for lunch!

Dale was eager to test out the new camera and took lots of pics around the Poly while we waited to be seated. (yes, Caitlin is her father's daughter ;))

Before long we were seated and ordered our beverages.

I chose my usual coke while Dale went with the Poly's signature drink..

Yep, the Lapu Lapu!

I love Kona and I order the same thing everytime we go. I know, I'm boring and predictable but I don't care! These wings are the best appetizer....

DSC00014.jpg

They are $12.99 and more than enough for 2 people. We could not finish them.

For the main course we both ordered the steak lunch plate. It is a grilled teriyaki steak with sticky rice and macaroni salad for $14.99! YUM!!

DSC00015.jpg

This along with the wings is way too much food for me so Dale may have finished mine...

We were celebrating Dale's birthday on this trip and our wonderful waiter brought him this for dessert

He also brought us some macadamia nut cookies which were fabulous!

When we were done eating we decided to head outside and check out the Poly beach area.

It was hard not to notice the DVC construction at the GF. I feel terrible for the brides who have this interfering with their weddings!

A much nicer view

We found a swing and sat for awhile and enjoyed the beautiful day and just being together at Disney.

As we were walking back to the car it suddenly hit me that after I had done my hair that morning, I forgot to pack my brushes! Now I have very thick hair so this was a major trauama for me!! We checked the Poly store and they didnt carry a single brush or comb? Honestly, how is this possible :confused3

We decided we'd stop at a Hess and buy one. Guess what? They don't carry them either! When we got back to the YC I checked their store and found a brush and a comb. Only one little problem...the comb was the kind you got on school picture day and the brush was so tiny it was about 4 inches long.
I didnt want to waste the time to go to Walmart or Target so I figured I just had to deal with it. (that was the daily drama for day1 but the drama gets much more dramatic later on)

Dale grabbed a nap on that comfy daybed while I enjoyed the view from the balcony. When he got up we got changed and headed to.......I'll save that for next time.

Thanks for reading!

Love the daytime shots of the Poly grounds! I've only been there at night to see Wishes. It is beautiful any time of day:0)

The Poly grounds are beautiful and there was hardly anyone out there enjoying the beach or the pool. Very lovely and peaceful!
