First off, our trouble makers were talked to and had to tell us they were sorry for their actions.
Friday was an away game, so it was an easy night for us.
Saturday was districts for ISSMA. We stayed in town actually, travel times was about 25 minutes. YEA!! They did the band group picture before we left, so the kids actually traveled in uniforms and just took their shako boxes with them. Even being dressed, they still did a mad scramble to get gloves taped, guantlets on, hair pulled back - we have some guys with not quite shoulder length hair that ends up being in 2 or 3 pig tail, plumes on the shakos and lined up in two's. No concept of time management.
They performed well. CG looked a lot better than they did the week before. They got their last set of flags. DD said it's a 7 foot flag on a 12 foot pole. I think her dimensions are off, but they are bigger flags. All of the bands in our class got a gold rating and we all qualified to move onto regionals. Next week will be our last competition before the run for state really starts.
We had a district party Sat night. The parents were far rowdier than the kids. We went thru 26 large pizzas, 200 wings, 300 meatballs, a full sheet cake, and cookies. Plus back at the fire pit, they had 5 bags of marshmellows and the fixings for s'mores. Some how they talked a couple of the moms into playing chubby bunnies with them. The family that hosted the party, had let the neighbors know, so there wasn't any issues with 100+ people invading their area. Funny thing is, the one guys is a police officer and when he came home, in his patrol car, as he pulled up to their house, he hit the lights, freaking out the kids. They tattled on us grown ups and told him that we couldn't hold our pop very well and were the one's laughing, hootin and hollerin.
Here was their cake.:
