Losing Pounds or Losing My Mind for Disney 05/2016 PTR

Hi! Went to my first weighin last night. Lost 5.4!! I have 25-30 to go. It was a good start, mainly because I was pretty perfect on points all week. I know that probably won't continue forever. :) I'm hoping for 2 next week. Keep up the good work!!!

Well guys, here we are on Monday, weigh-in day and I've lost ....... 0!!!!! That's right, the big ole goose egg. Nada, nothing, nope. I can tell ya, I am pretty discouraged at this point. I was relatively great in my eating and fitness last week and I was even down 4 lbs on Friday. Heck if I know how they got back on! Well, I take that back. We did have Peter's family over for a Christmas gathering yesterday (yes I know it's January) and I did allow myself to have 2 slices of pizza, some chips, and a dessert, but you can't tell me that one day -- ONE DAY of eating poorly can do that to someone's weight! It was only one day and I'm back on the horse again this morning with the WW breakfast sandwich. I didn't even eat it all as I'm feeling nauseous. See, it's things like this that make me discouraged and not want to continue. What's the point if I'm giong to deprive myself just to lose ZERO!!?? I know the comments out there are "well you'll probably see it this week" or "it's just water" or "you're just bloated".........and those are great comments, but it doesn't help my mood today. Why can't this be easier than it is? This coming Friday I have my appointment with the Diabetes Center. Who knows what that visit is going to bring?! Oh, I know my sugars are better as I've been testing more regularly, but still. Yeah, I probably should stop writing now as I really don't have anything good to say.........
Don't get discouraged! I have had that happen many times. It could just be water weight from the salt. Hope you have a great loss next week!

That is AWESOME!!!!! Very proud of you!!! :teacher:

Ann, I am so jealous about your egg supply!! :rotfl2:I just started buying eggs from my CSA farmer and they are the most amazing things I've ever tasted!! He's taking this month off and I don't know how I'm going to exist on plain grocery store eggs. :rotfl:Have you tried making your own egg sandwiches? I make myself a sandwich every morning with an egg fried with Pam on buttered (real butter) wheat toast. I don't know how many points it is (it's under 300 calories) but it's really yummy.

We have sooooo many eggs!! I'm going home at lunch to pick up the 5 dozen that are in the fridge and bring them to work! My co-workers love me for my eggs alone! Oh I could make my own sandwich if I were motivated to do so. In the morning, I really don't have the time to prepare anything myself.

Sometimes you can't physically see a difference, and the scale doesn't see a change..but inside you're healthier. Your body is thanking you ::yes:: It's easy to get discouraged. Sooo easy. Why is it so hard to feel good about ourselves and about what we DO accomplish? Like how you had 6 out of 7 days eating good and sticking with your diet and healthy living plans. 6 whole days, in a row, now isn't that something to celebrate? I know you have a weight lose goal. But that goal isn't due to be accomplished until May. Week one may be over, and for the most part you've stuck with your plans. Walking around the track with your daughter (who looks up to you) and eating healthy. You're doing awesome. So you didn't lose any actual weight. But you're getting healthier....just imagine how much healthier you'll be for your husband and daughter. And for years to come you and your daughter can think of how this was the time you stuck it out and didn't give up. And to celebrate you get a Disney vacation with all the delicious snacks and desserts and meals you want :thumbsup2 It's so easy to give up. But we on the Disboards are here for you. To be that voice of reason when all you wanna do is give up. So here's to another healthy week of eating, minimal snacking, bland breakfast sandwiches and many walks around the track ;) I know it's upsetting. But smile because you've gotten your first week done. The first few weeks are the hardest! You got this! :woohoo:We're here for the hard times, and for the good times! We will celebrate each accomplishment little and big! Virtual hugs :grouphug:

I can see the results in my blood sugars --- I had another low of 41 last night. I'm sure they will adjust the dosage on Friday when I go see the doctor. Maybe that will help. I've been told that the more insulin you take the harder it is to lose weight, so maybe I've just got to be patient. I'm very much a results person. I want to see that number on the scale go down because you know that's how everyone sees you --- but what you weigh. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm back on the wagon and so far it really hasn't been that hard to say no to the bad stuff or to eat to accomodate the points the bad stuff costs me. I'm doing ok, I really am. I just have to continue to believe.

I know how discouraging it can be when weigh ins go poorly... but you're making real progress! When I have 0 pounds of loss, I always tell myself... the old me probably would have gained here! Good job for me not putting any pounds on ;-) Maybe that will help you. Also, you have to broaden your focus beyond just the number on the scale. Eating healthy and exercise has so so many benefits that will never show up on the scale-- in the form of more years on this wonderful earth, and a happier, healthier body while you're here! It can be hard, but you have to find some positive thing to hold in your heart when the going gets tough. We're here for you!

Thank you for your nice words. I'm not giving up! I can do this!

Don't give up Ann! I was bad this weekend too- it just happens lol. When I weighed myself this morning I was down 2.8 lbs from last week and thought to myself, this is seriously going to take forever! But I am not going to let me down because hey- it didn't take me a week to put this weight on lol! I am right back on track with my fitness pal, and I really do think talking about it on these boards gives great motivation! Stay strong Ann- and everyone else on here in the same boats as us! We can do this!

I'm in!! I'm the same height and almost the same weight as you Ann. I have a little more time to lose since we aren't planning our Disney trip until September 2017, but I have a 2 year old that I want to be here for so that is my main motivation. Looking forward to all the tips and support :flower1:

Joining in for so many reasons!!!

I am also going to WDW in May 2016, am also on a weight loss journey, am originally from New England and miss Dunkin' Donuts (and their breakfast sandwiches) so much I could cry!

From catching up on your posts, I see another area we had in common - I *hated* water. I would literally drink anything but until about 8 years ago when I decided I *had* to get over myself. I read one tip that was life-changing: drink it through a straw! I bought myself a pretty hot pink cup from a local coffee shop, some packets of True Lemon and True Lime and gave it the old college try. I noticed that drinking it through a straw was as familiar as drinking sodas. I started doing it mindlessly, which was awful with soda but fantastic with water. I was getting up several times a day to go to the water cooler for a refill. Then came the day I started in an office that didn't bring in water. Solution? Brita bottle!

I wish you well on all your journeys and look forward to cheering you on!

I have been a lurker for years, and have just started posting. I told myself I needed to join in, as I Love Disney So Much! Don't get discouraged, you did a great job this week! Lots of good choices made!:dogdance: I have put on 40lbs in the last two years, unfortunately, putting me at 240:sad2:. I also have thyroid problems. I told myself I was going to start my weight loss on January 1st, but I am a Huge Procrastinator! I started this week, and made it three days before I fell off the wagon again:sad:. Hoping to start up again tomorrow. I love hearing about your story, and knowing I'm not the only one struggling with weight. I also have a 15yr old son that was diagnosed with diabetes in September. So we are learning about lows. I Love that you have chickens! That is so cool! I wish you good luck over the weekend, and hope you have a good weigh in on Monday!

Hey Janine!! 2.8 is awesome!!!!!! Whoo Hoot!!! :yay: You are sooo right in saying it didn't take me a week to put the weight on, so I can't expect it to take just a week to lose it! I've got to learn patience. Ugh! I'm going to stay strong although this freakin snow just depresses me! We got about 6 inches the other day and now we are expecting 8 inches tomorrow. I really do hate snow, but I love Maine, so I'm stuck, for now.

Hi KP!!! Thanks for joining in. :welcome: I think this is the reason why I started my report ----- I think it will keep me on point and motivated. It's nice to know that there are people out there rooting for me to make it. I love Disney in September although be prepared --- very humid! :sunny: Now that Victoria will be going to college we are unable to go in September due to school. I had no problem taking her out of school through her elementary and high school years as she's always been a good student. So is your 2 year old a boy or girl??? I love babies!!! Unfortunately I miscarried in July of 2013 and that would have been by husband's only bio child. Oh, he loves Victoria likes she belongs to him, but I know he would have liked to have his namesake.

Hi Linder!!! I'm so happy to have you join in!! :welcome: The more the merrier and the more motivation we will all have!! So, you are now a water drinker, huh? I just don't know...... We do have a water cooler here in the office that we each pay $2 bi-weekly to drink. I've been paying for nothing, really, since I don't drink it, but I keep thinking "just in case" I may want some I need to pay. I've done the old Crystal Light in the past, but it gets so old so quickly. If I'm going to make healthy choices in my food, why can't I have my Diet Coke?! :drinking1Maybe someday I may give it up, but I'm not ready right now. Oh, a good incentive in Disney is the free ice water some counter service places give out. Yep, I'm cheap, so instead of paying $2.50 per bottle, I will drink water in the parks.

Hi DHare!! Welcome!!! :wave2: I am such a procrastinator myself so I know what you mean! I'm so glad that you feel my report is a good place to post and I'm happy you can out of lurkerdom. Please know you can post anything on my report --- I'm very curious about other's lives and struggles. :disrocks: I don't feel so alone now after reading everyones posts. One good thing about WW is that you can eat anything --- it just costs you points. Then you ask yourself, "is this really worth the points it's going to cost me for the day?" and if it is, that's fine. You just have to account for it. I'm sorry to hear that your son has been diagnosed with diabetes. It is a huge life adjustment but it is manageable. Stay strong with that one! I found that I went through all kinds of stages of grief when I was diagnosed. You mourn the loss of your "old" life. You get sad that you are now on meds or shots, etc. :worried: It's not easy, but I'm sure with your help he'll be fine. Yep, gotta love my chickens. Although I don't so much love going to feed them in the dark, below zero temps at night. :cold: Not fun, but now since the sun is setting later I can get home from work before dark and take care of them. Yay!! It's the little things in life, right??

Today I will be going to the Diabetes Center at 2pm. I've decided to ask my doctor to reduce my insulin (Humulin) during the evening. My lows always seem to be at night and my blood sugar numbers have been great when I follow the Weight Watchers program. I'm taking 40 units in the morning and 40 units in the evening but I would like to drop it down to 30 units in the evening. I was always told that if I get my sugars under control, I can reduce the insulin I take which in turn will help me lose weight. Apparently insulin can make a person gain weight (really? shocker!) I'm hoping the doctor will agree. Even if she doesn't, I may try it anyways. As long as I'm testing my sugar numbers and increasing the insulin if need be, I should be fine. I think she'll agree. I'm pretty convincing when I want something. If I find my numbers running high again, I'll just go back to the 40 units. I'm thinking maybe this is why when I had a great week last week the numbers didn't go down. I know, I know, it's not all in the weight on the scale, but for me, it is right now. I need to see results or I won't continue. I'll think "what's the point" and go right back to eating fatty stuff. It's just how I am. I'll let you all know what she says. If anything she'll be proud of my blood sugar numbers.....

So, Disney news........I've decided to take my family to the Top of the World Lounge at the Contemporary on the first night of the trip. It's a benefit for DVC members and I think it would be really cool to watch Wishes from the platform they have. That is, if my family can stay up that late. We are NOT night people at all, so maybe we will nap in the afternoon sometime and then go. I hear the food is not the greatest but there is a 7 layer cake that is out of this world. Besides, we'd be going to watch the fireworks anyways and not really to eat. It's going to be a surprise if I can pull it off!!! There's no ADR needed, either and the reviews I've read said it doesn't get really packed unless it's a special occasion. Cool!!!! I've grabbed some pictures from the internet as I've never been.

Doesn't that look amazing!!! OMG I cannot wait!!! I think they'll love it!

You all know that we've waitlisted AKL, but I hear there will be construction there at Jambo House so I'm thinking probably the best option for us is if the reservation stays at OKW. I mean really, OKW looks AMAZING and it does have boat transporation to DS. We loved crusing along the river when we've stayed at Port Orleans, so I'm sure that will be wonderful. Maybe I'll just cancel the waitlist....I'm not sure yet.

Here's the Resort Map for OKW. Anyone have any recommendations? We would either need a first floor or there are 3 buildings with elevators....I believe those are 63, 64, and 65 or something like that. I would love to hear your opinions.

He's a boy. My husband and I tried for 14 years and I also miscarried during that time. 15 years later here we are with our little guy. I've been secretly putting Disney movies on so he starts getting excited about them now, LOL :stir: Looking forward to seeing how well we all do on our weight loss :daisy:

Met with the diabetes doctor yesterday and although I didn't lose any weight, I am able to drop down on my insulin so that's a great, great thing!!! I'm now going to take 36 units in the morning and 32 units after supper. Yay!!! I hope this makes a difference in my weight loss because I'm still at zero lbs lost... ugh! It's ok, though. I'm still motivated and still determined. Good news is that my blood sugars are under control enough that I can reduce the insulin. Yay me!!! How's everybody else doing?? We are pretty much snowed in today. I'll have time to work on the September Disney scrapbook. You can tell I didn't enjoy that trip as that scrapbook isn't done yet. It usually would be by now....

Awesome news! I'm so happy for you!
I'm still motivated and still determined
You go, girl!! Rooting for you each step of the way!
I'll have time to work on the September Disney scrapbook.
I have a scrapbook going for my May trip last year. I'm a slow scrapbooker, but the end results are just beautiful!

Hello!
My name is Tracy and I am, also, trying to loose weight before my August trip (199 days to be exact!!). I am doing Weight Watchers on line. Tomorrow will be my first weigh in day. At this point, ANY weight lost would be great!

This seems like the best thread to find support. Progress with weight loss is always filled with highs and lows. I like, the idea of finding support here, with fellow Disney fans!!

Keep up the good work, and congratulations of the reduction in insulin!

One more thing...
We are DVC members, too. Our home resort is the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Kidani is a great option. We prefer it over Jambo House. I can help if you need more information!

Last night was weigh-in number two for me. I lost 1.2 for a total of 6.6 in two weeks. Hope everyone is doing well on their diets!!

Congrats on reducing your diabetes meds. :cheer2:Good luck with your weight loss this week! :thumbsup2

Well, I'll join in! Good luck in your journey to a lighter and brighter Disney trip! I'm *hoping* to go in May also for my birthday and DS birthday. I've actually booked it! I'm not sure if I can go due to work and other things, but I'm using it as a goal for my own weight loss. I don't have as much to lose as you, but I would like to lose 20+ pounds (not sure that will happen before May).

I have been doing little challenges which have helped me so far. One was to not eat several things for one week. I figure I can do almost anything for a week. The challenge included no sodas, no bread, no pasta, no red meat, eat citrus daily, drink 64 oz water daily, etc. It wasn't too hard and I found that after that week, my cravings were gone for sweets and carbs!!! So I'm continuing on with avoiding sweets and limiting bread/pasta but not eliminating it altogether.

So maybe you can pick something (just one thing) and try to avoid it for just 7 days. I find for me that saying I won't eat xyz for my entire diet sets me up for failure, so just avoiding it for a short time, I find that I will crave it less and then I try to limit it after that so I don't get the cravings back!!!

I'm setting small goals. This month my goal was to get below the weight I was before my major surgery last year. I had gained weight before surgery, so it wasn't a big amount. I have met that goal!!! Woot! I have another mini goal set up for February in my head, and I will work toward that.

Small steps will get you there--don't beat yourself up over the small things. Make sure you exercise regularly and drink lots of water (I know you don't like it--try one of those infuser bottles--add fruit it really helps). Besides, exercising will get you in shape for Disney!!!
