Disney Wonder Panama Canal May 01, 2016

Is the menu at Palo different between lunch and dinner? Is it different on different days? if you know.
Yes, lunch and diner menus are totally different. Lunch is part buffet style and part made to order hot dishes which are on display. Diner is a la carte.
Diner is the same menu every night, although there may be Chef specials. Ask your waiter if there are any items off the menu.

Hi all
Merry Christmas :)

snowsbros, I had an 8 and 11 year old on the last canal crossing in May. I basically did not see my boys from dawn to dusk unless we pulled them out of the kids clubs. On the canal crossing day, they hung out with us and took cool breaks in the clubs to escape the heat. In terms of things to do, there is soooooo much we didn't do!

WE should b´PIF by Wed. Ready to book our Palo on the 1st. I think we have it figured out.

Hi all! Happy New Year! Does anyone happen to know how much it will cost if I pay off my tips ahead of time for this cruise? I usually give a little extra, but I like to pay the suggested tips in advance. Thank you!

Tips last I knew were $12 a day per person. We are now PIF
That's $12 per person (regardless of age) per day. That breaks out to $4.00 per guest per day to your room host; $4.00 per guest per day to your dining room server; $3.00 per guest per day to your assistant server; and $1.00 per guest per day to your head server.

From the DCL website:
Q.Is there an expected amount for gratuities, and how should I pay them?

A.It is customary to give gratuities in recognition of exceptional service, which you’ll receive in abundance aboard the ship. The following amounts are provided as a suggestion, but the gratuity you pay is always at your discretion:

Per Guest per cruise
3-Night 4-Night 7-Night
Dining Room Server
$12.00 $16.00 $28.00
Dining Room Asst. Server
$9.00 $12.00 $21.00
Dining Room Head Server
$3.00 $4.00 $7.00
Stateroom Host/Hostess
$12.00 $16.00 $28.00

Dining Manager Your Discretion
Room Service Your Discretion
Palo Your Discretion
Remy Your Discretion
Senses Spa & Salon An 18% gratuity will automatically be applied to all spa services
Vista Spa & Salon An 18% gratuity will automatically be applied to all spa services
Babysitting Gratuity not expected
Port Adventures Optional; not included in Port Adventures price
There are 2 easy ways you may pay the gratuities for your party:

  • Pay the gratuity in advance by contacting Disney Cruise Line no later than 3 days before your cruise begins, or
  • Automatically have the suggested gratuity amounts listed here―based on the length of your cruise―added to your onboard account prior to the end of your cruise
If you wish to change the amount of a gratuity or pay the gratuity in cash, stop by the Guest Services desk, located on Deck 3, Midship.

Please note: a 15% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine and deck service tabs. All gratuities can be charged to your stateroom folio.

Thank you! For 2 people it would be approx. $24 per day x 14 nights = $336. This is good to know! I plan to pay ASAP, so it will be one less thing for me to worry about! :-)

Thru me. . .
I need names, cabin #, ages of children and I can get you on our list. You can PM me the info

Not sure if you received my request for FE list posted originally on December 22nd. Here it is and please let me know if you need anything else.

This is our 2nd WBPC (last one in May 2014). Also just did a B2B in October out of San Diego. I would like to sign up 2 cabins for this FE group.
Cabin #1 is Cabin 2080: 3 adults - Jeff (DH) Pam (DW) and Carolyn (Pam's mom)
Cabin #2 is an OGT: 2 adults & 2 children - Larry (DH) Ann (DW) Daniel (15) Elizabeth (1)

I don't think I have enough posts to do PM yet so please let me know if you need any other information.

Yes, I have you in my notes to be added. Whenever you get the second cabin number, just let me know. One more post and you will be able to pm. At that time could you send me an email address. If I didn't tell you welcome to the cruise, then :welcome:

The last month seems like a blur since I have been on the Wonder for an early December cruise, am boarding her again Monday for the re-positioning cruise plus our crazy weather up here in northeast TX with excessive rain and tornadoes plus weather so warm it did not seem like December until a few days ago.

Hope everyone had a very Happy New Year and now we can really start the countdown to May 1!

Thank you for the confirmation. I will let you know when the OGT cabin # is released for 2nd cabin.
I will pm you our email address when I figure out how to do it.
So Cal has had unusually cold weather for Christmas this year. Hope your area did not get too much of the flooding.
Enjoy your cruise.

Gold, silver, first timers all excursions are still open except for one. At PV
banderas private sailing.

Speaking of excursions . . . .
Which ones has anybody on here been on before?

I am really interested in knowing about the Cartagena ones. As this is probably the only time I will be there I want to see the town and learn a bit about the history and culture. My 8 yo DD has several papers she will be required to write comparing the different countries. We also want to do one of the dolphin excursions either in Cozumel or Cabo; if anyone has any info on those I would appreciate it.

I am so excited, since we booked last April it seems like it has taken forever to get her.

I'm with you! :-) I'm still racking my brain on what to do in Cartagena. A couple of the excursions listed on the DCL website look similar.

In the ports I am doing what I love to do, enjoy a empty ship and relax, relax, relax.
