Fri Jan 29, 2016 5-Night Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay From Miami (Meet and FE!)

My husband, son (will be 8) and I just switched to this cruise yesterday (were originally on the Southern out of Puerto Rico but airfare priced us out) and are so excited to see Grand Cayman! We have been on several Disney Cruises but this is our first out of Miami. We are hoping to do an airboat ride in the Everglades before the cruise and some sort of sting ray swim in Grand Cayman. We live in Michigan and will be very excited to get out of Dodge in the middle of the Polar Vortex!!!! We are also stoked to be back on the Magic - my hubby proposed to me at the front of the Magic in 2002 and the Magic was my son's first cruise when he was 3 - needless to say, the Magic is very "magical" for our family!

Is Captain Marvin's supposed to be good? I assumed we would book from the DCL website but if I am missing out on something with Captain Marvin - let me know! Where are you flying out of? We are going out of Flint a few nights prior to the cruise.

We are flying out of Flint to Orlando the day before the cruise. I did research online & Captain Marvin's gets great reviews. Supposed to be quite a bit cheaper than booking through DCL.

Captain Marvin's is who we are using. We are taking an hour and a half tour from the ship to Hell and to Turtle Farm for $30 per person, and children under 4 are free

Hi all-- we're so excited for this cruise. This is our 2nd cruise with Disney. We loved Disney Dream and now we get the chance to go on Disney Magic. My husband and I, our daughter (10) and son (7) will be on the cruise as well. Kind of feel a little weird pulling them out of school for a cruise, but we're excited nevertheless. We are also coming with 5 other families -- all of our friends have 2 kids ranging from the ages of 3 to 10 from the Washington DC-Baltimore Area and Kansas-Missouri Area. All of us our extremely thrilled. Our girls are excited about the BBB and boys are about pirate night. This time around on the cruise, we plan to just really enjoy the cruise and relax. Currently, busy doing a lot of research on Miami hotels and where to stay before the cruise.

Hello! this will be our family's first DCL experience and I can't wait. My husband and I are surprising our kids the day we fly to Miami so I have to contain my excitement. Kids will be almost 7 (boy) and 4.5 (girl). Looking forward to joining a FE group.

Does anyone know if there will be a pressed penny machine? I've read they have one at Port Canavaral, but I wasn't sure if they have them at Port of Miami or aboard Disney Magic or at Castaway Cay.... We LOVE getting pressed pennies especially from Disney!!!

Hello All,

We too are going on this cruise with syrichardson and family. This will be our second Disney cruise and we are just as excited to go on this one as we were on our first one. I'll be bringing my two boys, one will be 8 by the time we go and the other will be over 40......... I'm more concerned about keeping the older one in check.

I had no idea about the fish extender until Sharlene told me about it and I'd be interested in it for this trip. We did the room number magnets last cruise and we brought a few Canada ones for people to take.

No idea what we're doing for trips yet, although we went to Grand Cayman on a Carnival cruise and we missed out on Hell and the turtle farm, so that is on our list for sure. I just need to find a hand basket and I'm good to go.

I should add that the husband is named Steven, I am Stacey and our son is Alexander.

Hi Everyone!!! I too am new to the Disney Boards but not new to Disney

Our Family consists of myself, husband & our 5 boys . . . at the time of the cruise they will be almost 15, 13 1/2, almost 12, 10 1/2 & 6. I am the only one of us who has ever been on a Disney Cruise (about 14 years ago . . . on the Magic). I am sooooo excitd to be able to share this experience with my family!! We will be coming from the Mountains of Colorado and also will be needing some sun and thawing!!!

We would love to also join a FE group . . . I think that our boys will LOVE IT!!! If someone would please let me know how to go about that it would be great!

Hello, I will also be traveling from Ohio for this cruise. I am traveling with my husband Ron, son Corbin (3) and mother in law Penny. We have been on the Wonder in 2009 and Dream in 2014. This will be our first trip on the Magic and first time on a Caribbean itinerary. This will be my MIL first cruise and flight ever. We are part of a cruise group on another site, but look forward to meeting others traveling on the trip.
We have booked a tour for Grand Cayman through an outside company that includes the Turtle Farm and Hell. I think we will also visit 7 mile beach or Stingray City if we have time

Can you share the other website you used for the other cruise groups and the company you used to set up your excisions?

If you wouldn't mind putting a reply to this with this info I would be eternally grateful. I have all the ones that have put your kids names on your post. I don't need the whole name if you don't want to put if on the post, just initial would be fantastic.

Once school starts I'm going into a craft frenzy for the cruise, nothing like being prepared WAY too early...........

My name is Kelsey and I am 27 and my husbands name is Brent and he is 33, we booked this cruise this past January right after my final chemo and all clear scans, yay!! I started my FE gifts too!!! I am replying for 2 families! The Zore family (that's mine) have 2 LOs their first initial is "K" and "W" the second family are the Ervins. Thy also have 2 LOs their initials are "S" and "J"... Good luck on your crafting adventures!!!!
