Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend September 4-6, 2015 10th Anniversary

Ugh, so I need some advice from all of you. I'm currently registered for the 10k... but I'll be 6 months pregnant. I had a pretty bad first trimester so my training plan is in shambles. After talking it over with my doctor, she doesn't want me running the entire time, not that I think I even could at this point! I'm nearly positive I won't be able to maintain the pacing requirement with the walk/run that's comfortable for me right now. Would you suck it up and pay the $55 deferral fee or would you just run the race knowing that you're going to get swept? Besides a couple of stroller 5ks, this is my first real race!

I got my "one month to go - get ready" email today. Getting excited... purchasing new shoes next weekend at Snail's Pace.
Now if we can only get the waivers and program we'll be that much closer! :hyper:

That's a hard one. Did you submit a time or estimate time for when you'd finish? The sweep time begins when the last person crosses the start line so if you're in one of the front corrals you have that much extra time built in as a cushion. There's also time in b/w each corral so you'll have a few more minutes built in. On the other hand, if you're in the last of the corrals you could be close. I'm not sure where you live, but it could also be warm during that race and whether you would feel comfortable running in warm weather or if that might cause some problems w/ the pregnancy. Another thing to think about is the travel cost and if you would be okay, again depending on how far you travel, coming out to DL for a race you're not sure you finish or would you feel better spending the money on the deferral and coming back to run next year.

I'd try a week to see how it goes and then see if that's something you can do for the few weeks after until the race and if your body can handle it, especially since you said you had a bad 1st trimester. If you think that you could do it and have that cushion w/ a few corrals behind you I say go for it, it's a great race. But if you are unsure I say wait until next year. And then you can do the Diaper Dash too, which is so adorable to watch!

Hope that helps a little. :goodvibes

DD and I got our letters for volunteering, we'll be over at the 5K in the morning then we have a shift in the expo. Can't wait. Then we will be signing up for the Tinkerbell, for our first rundisney race

Good luck to anyone looking for their bib number :) I couldn't get it to pull up mine, but considering how late of a registration it was I'm assuming I'll just have to wait until the waivers get released.

I sure hope it's soon!

Holy Cow we are 33,000 something. WOW. It's gonna be nuts, isn't it!?!?!?!?!
It's not as bad as it sounds. :goodvibes The 1st number correlates to which race you're doing, so 10,000 are either the 10k or 1/2, the 20,000's are for DDD and 30,000 are for remaining race.

Everything is out an updated on the site. The course maps for the 3 races, event program and official bib waivers and corrals are up.

Oh my gosh, D23!?! I'm so jealous!!! I really want to see that exhibit will all the memorabilia that they'll have there. I'm hope they do a traveling thing w/ it like they did a few years ago so I can see it. And some of the merch looks nice too. Hope you have a ton of fun and it's not as crazy for you as last month. Maybe I'll just skip work for the week and sneak into the Convention Center this weekend. :rotfl:

The 5K Course looks great!

Now I'm thinking we should get to the parking structure at 4am to secure a spot; worst case we can sleep in our car for 30 minutes?

I'm getting anxious now!!

If you don't want to wait in your car, there's a dj in the staging area playing music and Green Army Men from Toy Story walking around you can take pictures with.

Tickets are still available for Friday. You could always be "sick". Just a thought ! :rolleyes1

Moved in to my new apartment, and now I'm sick! I have less than a month to get ready ... fun times. Just like very other race I've run

... Vicki is such a bad influence. I second!!

So very excited to my first DL Half weekend. Running DDD and sitting in A corral.
Getting very excited after looking at the courses. Look forward to seeing everyone!

Well, we'll be there anyway - we have a big trip planned that will now hopefully include the AP renewal party :) I didn't submit a time, so I'll be in the last corral, too. I'm going to try to do a pacing run next weekend and see how far off I am, lol!

According to the link for the waivers, all registrations that were processed before 8/3 should be available. Mine was on 7/30 so in theory it should be there, but it's not. I can't even access any of the registration details, but I was able to get confirmation emailed to me. So I am registered. I sent runDisney an email to ask about it. Now that I'm not stressing about my move I get to stress about this. Fun times!!

Can't believe it's getting so close!!

Any for anyone interested, don't forget we are going to try and set up a small meet up for us DISboarders on Saturday sometime after the 10K at Tangaroa Terrace/Trader Sams.

It's been about 6 years since I've run one of the 5K races. I printed out and signed my waver- picking up my materials on the Thursday after work. I'll have a photo ID. Anything else I need to bring besides my wallet so I can go shopping in the EXPO? :)

I would and I do have enough points for 1 way down, but I have to be a grown-up and work. :crazy2: Question for you... do you know off the top of your head what the renewal AP discount is? I was thinking about that this weekend since Get Travel discounts starting soon aren't really discounts. Right now at booth price and counting race weekend days, I'm under $84 but that doesn't include expo/park discounts and the renewal discount.

Oh, then if you're already there, I'd say pace it out this weekend and if you're close, get as close to the front of the corrals and you should be fine. Have fun at the party! I got the postcard in the mail over the weekend, but can't make it.

Nope, just waiver, id and lots and lots of money! :goodvibes

Last month when we renewed the Mouseketter's Premium AP (same $$$$ as a adult ) it was a $40.00 savings, BUT you have to renew it prior to the expiration date. I had online problems trying to renew it so I called and they made a note in the account and we were able to do it in person after the exp. date with the same discount since it was a computer issue on their side.
I would just bite the bullet and renew....remember the $$$$$ discount that you can use at the rD merchandise area during the races. I have more reasons too if you need someone to talk you into it. :rolleyes1 You're already close to the break even...renew, renew, renew!!
