High School Class of 2015

And just like that, high school is done forever! My boy just texted me that he just cleared the parking lot, is heading to Starbucks and asked if I wanted a Flat White, lol. Now, a week off while waiting for graduation day. I have packed my last sandwich, made my last waffle and washed my last school uniform polo shirt. OMG, I'm a 49 year old, stay at home, former PTA committee chair, ex-class mom... I know I should be sad but I feel like going to Disney World :cool1::cheer2::banana:party:

My daughter left school at a little after 11:00 this morning-she checked herself out (the rewards of being 18 I guess) before her last class of the day because they're already done with everything and she finished with a 99 average in that class. She is officially finished with high school with the exception of one assignment she needs to email the teacher which apparently got lost somehow the first time she turned it in, which happened quite often to her in high school. I never believed this was actually happening until some of her teachers actually confirmed it for me. Not to say that she never missed turning something in on time, because she was guilty of that too, but it wasn't unusual for something to be misplaced once it was turned in to whatever box or basket the teacher had designated. She has no more classes to attend but has to take one AP exam on Tuesday and one final on Thursday next week-she exempted all of her other finals but this teacher had a grade requirement for exemption of the final that she was two points away from. She'll have graduation practice the following week and graduation is on the 22nd. This weekend's task is to find dresses for her baccalaureate service and graduation, because of course there have to be two different dresses because people will see them after she takes off the robe...hopefully we'll have luck with that.

On the college front, she is now anxiously waiting for a housing assignment, which is supposed to be posted this week. As I've mentioned before, she wants a private room, which since she applied for housing early is a possibility. Since some future female classmates she's only met in person once have already started drama by spreading rumors about her which were repeated online (yes...sometimes this continues after high school much to my dismay) I hope that she does have her own space. For my own purposes I want to know if she does have a private room since we need to start dorm shopping and a private room will mean she doesn't have to consult a roommate about bathroom decor, since that's the only area they would share. Hopefully they'll make their decision by the end of today as promised.

Ha! My dd has next week. 3 AP tests.
Party is this upcoming Sunday, followed by graduation Monday. :flower1:

On the college front, she has to do tests online for college for orientation in June.

Then we have the slew of medical appts. to get in. She has to have her teeth fixed with 2 implants. Ugh...not going to be fun.

Then a physical with shots and an ortho appt. Plus she needs to see her endocrinologist.

My son still has 28 days left not counting weekends. He doesn't have to go the last week of school because he is doing a summer marching band program. Its called Drum Corps International. He leaves but comes back a week later for Graduation. He is home less then 48hrs and has to go back. Then he is gone intel the 3rd week in Aug. My family is coming from MT for his graduation but only really get to see him for 12hrs. They know that so i don't fell bad. He is staying home for college so I'll still get to see him everyday. My youngest will be a senior next school year but he is trying to go away for school so my experience will be different then this year.

DD has her Prom on Friday. Still over a month until graduation here in the North East but it seems to be going so fast.

Graduation is the 31st here, so DS still has a couple weeks of school left. He either has 12 or 13 days of school left. None of the Seniors seem to know when their last day of school is. LOL

Okay, panic is starting to set in. I need a graduation cake in 2 weeks, 5 days, and the baker just cancelled. Ugh. We live in a small town, and the 3 other bakers in the surrounding area are all booked, so..... My options now are Kroger and Walmart! Personally, I can't stand the typical cake from those places, with tons of colored icing and writing on the cake. We want something elegant & simple. Surely, they can't screw up a simple white cake with gold dusting, right? lol.

On a more positive note, however, we found out from the college that we don't need to fill out the Fafsa in order to accept the merit scholarship they offered dd. All we have to do is sign something saying we're not filling it out. Yay! :)

DS has his last AP test tomorrow but he has really been done since the Senior Awards Ceremony last Thursday. He got the Semper Fi Marine Band award for his work with the band -- this year he was a drum major and he interned with the band director this semester and I even got to see him perform on the timpani (not bad considering his regular instrument is the clarinet!). It just hit me today that I've made my last sack lunch for him to take to school. He's my oldest, so I had no idea how hard it was going to hit me this week -- he graduates on Saturday and I'm so not ready for this!

Oh that sucks!!! DH just ordered 2 cakes from a bakery yesterday. We are just getting their reg. layer cakes, one chocolate, one white with simple writing on it.

DD is still sick today...aaack! She is staying home again. I will be taking her to urgent care after work to make sure she does not have bronchitis. She is going the rest of the week, because she has 3 AP tests. Blah.

On his way home from his AP test this afternoon, DS got his first speeding ticket. 62 in a 45. He'll have to say bye bye to the 18th birthday money he just got!

DS goes to a Catholic military high school. This afternoon they had the end of year military awards ceremony. I went because DS got the Marine Corps Award for Academic Excellence. At the very end of the ceremony they always announce the next chain of command for the following school year. All the new lieutenants, captains and such get called up on stage. It is a really big deal for the rising seniors to be selected for these military leadership positions.

I remember so clearly sitting with all the other hopeful parents last year, waiting for DS's name to be called. It seems like it happened last week, so HOW can his senior year already be over??? I got in the car and burst into tears on the drive home. I will miss him so much when he's off at college. DD is only two years behind him and now that I know how FAST it goes....I am kind of sad about being an empty nester. It is such a sense of loss. I didn't feel it as a kid, but I really feel it as a parent.

One more day!!!

DD is still sick on antibiotics and has no fever. She is trudging through it. Basically she is just going in for AP tests.

She got her cap and gown today!!!

I cannot wait for HS to be over. :worship:

Hope your daughter is feeling better!

DS has one more week. Finals are next week with the senior barbecue and then clap out Friday afternoon followed by graduation Friday night.

He is having his graduation party on Saturday afternoon with 5 other guys, the group he is going to Haiti with for their senior trip. They had planned a road trip to San Diego but now want to do a mission trip. One of the boy's dad is a pastor and he suggested it and they all jumped on board.

Then the 6 of them are off to the University of Colorado, DS in Aerospace engineering.

Can't believe this is my last one. I loved being a mom, so the empty nest phase is going to take some getting used to. But I am so happy they all have found their path in life.

Seven days of school left here. The school has apparently loosened up quite a bit on the Seniors as I've run into some of DS's friends in the middle of the afternoon at the grocery store. DS has also come home a couple afternoons to grab something for baseball he had forgotten that morning. Leaving school during the day up until now is a big no-no, even if they are 18.

So, what is everyone getting their graduate for graduation? We are going to get DD a new laptop for school, but I also want to get her something meaningful, but I just haven't found the perfect thing yet.

She has run around with the same group of 9 girls since about 7th grade. I got each of them a personalized mug with a picture of all 9 of them and am having a cakepop bouquet put in each mug. I can't wait to see them. The mugs turned out so cute!

DS's best friend gave him a really nice macbook for his birthday, so a laptop is out for us.

Guess it is just the college education and his senior trip.

DS wants new golf clubs. Doesn't want a party (although I would like one, but it's not my graduation), so we are going on a family cruise to celebrate.

For a graduation gift, I'm trying to find a nice jacket for my daughter that has the name of her school on it. We're also going to WDW a few days after graduation instead of having a party.
