Awww...I love the sassy Main Street pose...you go girl!
Hahaha... Thanks!
I am sure that she will be thrilled with the item. Making custom orders is tough. I made custom quilts for a short time. It turned out to be too much work for too little income. And I found out that I wasn't disciplined enough to work out of my home, either. There were too many distractions.
I know the feeling - which is why I have a "set schedule" for my sewing room... I try to always be up there by 9am (although - the last week I've been slacking, and it's been more like 10am) - and I work until the girls get off of the bus - sometimes a wee bit later, but not much. I try not to work weekends - if I do, only until noon... Since we usually have pretty lazy weekends and noon is about the time that we all get up and get moving - so I feel it's OK to work until every one is coherent.
But I completely understand, sometimes it's very hard to get beyond the distractions and work .
Your Geppetto bag is really well done. You have great control over your applique stitches. Do you feel like you are "one with the machine"? When I did my machine quilting I almost felt like the machine was an extension of my arm. I know that must sound weird.
Actually - it's funny you bring this up, because DH and I were just talking about this recently. I've been having little annoying problems with my Rocketeer (my applique machine), and I was telling DH that maybe it's time I start looking for something different... So, I started looking on Craigslist - and I started thinking... There is no way I could applique on a different machine - I've formed "bonds" with these ones, and I just wouldn't feel right doing it on something else. It was at that time, I told Josh that if I did get a different machine - it would have to be the exact machine I have.
Yes, I do feel like these machines are an extention of my arms - it's the most bizarre thing ever, but I've never heard it described that way - however, that is exactly what it is. Trying to explain that to someone though - well - they wouldn't understand.
I'm keeping up with your TR. However, haven't been posting. Finally went back to work on Thursday. Plus getting ready for the trip. Leaving in 7 days, and arriving in 8. Can't wait, but so busy.
I am very glad you are back to work - just in time to not have to worry about not taking your trip. I was so worried for you.
is Josh's furlough pay going on his next paycheck? That seems to be the pattern here. My furlough pay is going on my next paycheck which will be directly deposited into my checking accoung on Oct 28, our first full day in the parks. I may have to dip into the vacation fund a little early this week (go to the credit union on Monday to transfer money over instead of going to the credit union on Friday). But I'll have the full amount of vacation money in my bank account by next Monday. I'll probably get a few hundred dollars more of Disney gift cards from Target this Wednesday (my day off). I have about $900 in gift cards; however I still have to buy my DD and DSIL's tickets (held out for the last minute in getting those), plus paying for two character meals. And of course, other things in the parks.
I believe so? I am not sure how it will work? I am sort of expecting it to be late because there is so much to be caught up on.
I am very happy you will have it in time for your trip, what a relief!
Oh I'm still here... More lurker than poster! We are under 365 days till our next trip! I'm so jealous of those going now but will so enjoy hearing about all their fun times! Enjoy the weekend! Rainy here!
Yay Ruth!!! What are your dates? Is it exactly 365?
I just wanted to tell you what a lovely tribute that was to your daughters. You are a wonderful mom!
Awww... Thank you! It's easy being a mom when you enjoy your children so much! They know it too... LOL
I would say you've done everything anyone could possibly expect. I hope it fits now. I also HATE making garments for other people. I rarely do it anymore, but if I do, I require that I am the one that measures the person and I always make a muslin sample for them to try on first.
I hope so... Yah... I should have made a muslin - I made one for myself and I made one for Victorai... That was total stupidity on my part.
And I did measure her the first time (she was on my schedule last spring, but due to other financial commitments, she had so push it back), and I was going to measure her this time - but since she was "just fitted" for her sister's bridesmaid dress... Grrr...
I should have insisted... Again - rookie mistake. Oh well - It better fit her - LOL.
I don't like making clothing for other adults, but I don't mind making kids stuff. I have, on occasion made adult clothing, but usually its for a very special occasion.
I enjoy making children's items as well.
Congrats on your weight loss and going down 2 sizes. Hey, if you can get in the 14s and get them zipped, you are there. I need to get moving again.
Thanks Tess... I think I just had a "whoosh" moment last week - honest... You know, that moment where the inches just seem to disappear. I had a pair of size 14 Levis in my drawer that I tried on 2 weeks ago - and I could hardly get them over my hips... I tried that exact pair on yesterday and they were on and buttoned - a hair tight - but they were on... Another week, and I think I could safely wear them out of the house. LOL So, I am getting close! I feel like I have so much further I want to go though.
Glad you had a good shopping day with the girls and bff!
Thank you - I did.
**********************************************************
We had a fun day yesterday... I finished that item yesterday morning in my sewing room... I just have a couple of accessories to make for it today - and I am DONE!
I took a short nap yesterday afternoon...
Then last night, the girls and I had a surprise birthday party to go to for my cousin... She turned 40. We had so much fun - it was great seeing some of my aunts and cousins that I haven't seen in years... Some of them I grew up very close to - but due to life, we don't get to see eachother very often. We relived some great memories... It was a lot of fun! We talked about doing a family Christmas this year - something we haven't done since the year my grandparents died (1996)... I hope this is something we can coordinate.
Today, the girls and I will be hanging around home... I have some protein bars I wanted to make yesterday that I didn't get around to doing. I also have to finish those accessories in my sewing room. A bit of laundry and a bit of cleaning to be done...
I am kind of excited for this week... I don't have any custom orders - instead I am working on a Christmas project for Josh's brother's family in The Netherlands. I am very excited to get started on this - as I have had the fabric for almost a year!
Speaking of Christmas... I wanted to make coordinating skirts for the girls and I to wear - I asked them yesterday if it's something they would be interested in, and Alli said "no way"...
Bummer... Oh well - glad I asked before I ordered the fabric. I ordered enough for myself - and if Victoria decides she wants one after she sees mine, I will have enough to make her's. I don't plan to make mine until the beginning of December though, because I would hate to change size before then. I am very excited about the fabrics though - they are so classic/christmas with out being in your face Christmas.
And I purchased some of the coordinating FUN fabric for the underhem... I love FUN underhems!!!
I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday!!!
