~~ Sew hot, Hot, HOT! ~~ A sweltering Aug 2013 TR ~ Pre-Trippie link posted! ~ 10/31!

Yeah, DOMS is normal, but it is still the PITS! Drinking LOADS of water helps with the DOMS too. Good for you for keeping up with the workout.

Good luck ripping apart your item. I hope it works out.

Any word on Tess’ niece?

I enjoyed every last bite/lick!! :rotfl2: I did get the dreaded phone call today and I do have gestational diabetes. My appointment with the nutritionist isn't until October 31 but I'm going to try to get one sooner (see if going for a late appointment instead of early will get me in). She is confident that we should be able to control it with diet. I will have to monitor my sugar levels but that won't start until after I go to my appointment.

Hope you were able to get everything done today!! As I said before I love the new bag!!

I had gestational diabetes with two of my three pregnancies... and one of them tested suspicious for early diabetes. He was 10lb 2 oz and 24 and a half inches at birth and over thirty pounds at three months. He is now so skinny you can't see him and is over 6 ft 7....and is 31 years old.

I was able to control it with diet and made bi weekly doctor's visits. I found it to be much easier than I thought it would be... of course...NOW that I rarely eat carbs..I find that once they told me my numbers are too high and I need to watch my carbs for 4 weeks and go back for more testing I find I am craving carbs like no body's business! LOL!

Good luck!

Always have Kat in my prayers!!

I'm itching for an update here!!!

Thanks Mo...

I hope to do an update this morning.

Saying prayers for Tess' niece

Thank you Kathy!

Once again a great bag. You really got the expression on both Geppetto and Pinocchio

Thank you Lillian!

That's another beautiful bag!! Try to have some protein like a piece of cheese or some yogurt after your workout. It will help your muscles repair themselves faster.

Thanks! I appreciate all the advice I can get - I am such a newbie at this... I've been having a Greek yogert after every work out - which is quite high in protein - and I've been very conscious of my proten intake... I am trying to stick to a ratio of Carbs 40%, Protein 30%, Fat 30%, Fiber 30 gr, Sodium >2500. I have been eating calories at my BMR (Basic Metabolic Rate) -15%, take or give. Just yesterday, I purchased some protein powder, so I can add it to a smoothie in the morning when I am done working out... I also purchased it so that Alli can use it - as I am worried about her protein intake, as well. I am definately feeling these work outs, and I am happy about that. :thumbsup2 Thanks so much for your help, and if you think of anything else, please let me know.

Great bag, D. I love Pinocchio!

Thank you Kathy!

I love the Pinocchio bag!

I bought fabric from JoAnn's for my first class sewing project, and after preparing the fabric it has holes in the middle of the fabric. My washing machine doesn't even have an agitator, so I don't think that was the problem. Do you have a recommendation on where to buy fabric? I hope it's okay that I am asking!

Thanks Ashley... First of all - even though you washed the fabric - I would bring it (with your receipt) back to Joanns... They may not take it back, since it's been washed, but if you don't have an agitator in your machine, there is no reason there should be holes in the middle of the fabrc, unless it was flawed to begin with.

I purchase my fabric from several places - my favorite place to purchase from is Etsy... I love supporting the small/in home businesses. There are only certain fabrics I will use for the exteriors of my bags, and certain brands... Michael Miller, Riley Blake, Moda... Just to name a few. They don't always have the best fabric - but over all, they do. I hope that helped.

Gorgeous, once again!

Thank you Connie!

First of all, thanks D~ for mentioning Kat in your TR. She is having surgery as I type this to remove her colon. The inflamatory colitis has spread so much and medication was not helping. That said, Kat is one of the strongest fighters I've ever seen. She does not let anything get her down and is looking forward to getting back to a normal life. She apparently had a mini-stroke last week, but has suffered no ill effects from it.

She managed to wrap a gift for her dad and signed her name on the card with each hand. Her right hand is still not 100%, but is getting there. This is residual from the first stroke that she had earlier this year.

I hope her surgery went well - she was in my thoughts and prayers all day yesterday.

D~ if the suggestions I made don't seem to be working pm me.

So far, so good - thank you so much for all your help on this project, I didn't like how it was looking, but then I had V try it on, and it looks way better on her than on a hanger - so hopefully... I think I want my co-worker to try it on again... but I just don't have the time, I need to have it finished this weekend. I am starting to get a little frustrated with it - I just really want to put it together and be done... Whether it fits her or not, I've put way more time into it than I am ever going to be paid for. I swear, this is the last time I will ever make something for someone else to wear. <--- Sorry for the rant, I am just really tired of this project. LOL

The Geppeto bag is awesome. Wish I had the funds available right now, but they seem to be tied up in another Disney project!

Thanks Tess! I hope it goes well for you - I am so excited!

Because I am too lazy to look it up...what is the name of the CD you have with the Disney parks music on it?
Trying to load our iPods today...
Nini

Sorry Nini- I wish you would have texted me, I just saw this... It's the 4 parks, 1 world CD.

I love geppetto! you know why...

Thanks Mo!

You did an awesome job catching both the expressions!

BTW, I went back through your photopass pictures. I missed a bunch of them. They are so awesome!! I keep fallling back in love with the Monsters Inc. headband. It is really a shame it didn't get more lovin from the characters.

Would you mind telling me who made them. I think you mentioned it before, but I can't seem to find it.

Can't wait to see your next project!

Thanks Dee!! My friend Jennifer made them, but unfortunately, she has closed her shop, I am not sure if she when will open again to take orders, or if she plans to? Her and her family are in the middle of a HUGE home remodeling project - and she had to take down her work space. I am super bummed about it, because I was hoping to add a few more items to our customs list.

Sorry D - I have been running full throttle the past week. DD (Midori) has been super busy with her Volleyball and being 14 year old. My world is upside down right now... Midori's Team has finished their season and is in First Place going into the tournament starting Monday.

The Lady as Fairly God Mother has been doing it for years now...Nice to see that.

I will try to keep up ok??

No worries Bob... Happy to see you here and following along.

Congratulations to Midori - that is just great!!!! You must be so proud - I know I would be!

I totally love the new auction bag. I just may need to bid on this one. When I get my photopass pictures I have to show you my Sulley picture.

Thanks Chiara! I cannot wait to see your Sulley picture!!! I hope he loved your newest bag!!!

Good luck ripping apart your item. I hope it works out.

Any word on Tess’ niece?

Thanks!!! I've also been trying to work on my water intake - I am super bad about it - I always have been. Considering that I don't drink soda anymore though, I drink a lot more water than I used to. LOL

Nini

Hi Nini... :wizard: I hope you are able to get everything figured out.

**********************************************************

Well, I didn't get to spend as much time in my sewing room yesterday as I had wanted to.

The girls and I ended up at BFF's house... I wanted to go to the natural foods store to get the protein poweder for Alli and I... The only time she could go was in the morning (she has the membership... So I needed her to go with me)... We ended up spending most of the morning with BFF, and then we had lunch at her house too.

While I was out with BFF, I had to drop her off at an appointment - rather than wait, I went to a nearby Kohls... I wandered around to see if I could find any deals... Nothing much, but... On a whim, I tried on a pair of size 14 misses Levis jeans - and they fit!!! This is a HUGE accomplishment for me... I started off in an 18 Plus size jeans - and they were way too tight. I did not purchase yesterday's jeans, as they were still a little tight - but it totally made my day, and I had to share. As you all know, I have not weighed myself since March - so the only way I guage my loss is by size...

BFF has started making fleece hats... She started out wanting to make a Pikachu (Sp?) hat for her dd... then she made some for her nieces and nephew... Then I asked her to make one for me... LOL... See, I am doing the "Gobble Gait" on Thanksgiving morning... It's a walk/run in a nearby town and all the proceeds go to the local food shelf. Well, I wanted a Turkey themed hat to wear for it... So, I put BFF to the task of making one... I wanted it "BIG and FUN" - you know me... LOL I just love how it turned out! It's a bit bigger than I anticipated, but - fun - it is... Considering this is only her 5th or 6th hat - she did a great job!

Victoria modeled for me...

994029_10202399775264490_1035838492_n.jpg

Alli already told me that she won't do the walk at all... But V took pity on me, and she plans to walk... I love her!

Alli's new coat came yesterday... Thankfully she likes it and it fits. Phew!

I had also ordered her some jeans a few weeks ago - the girls and I are headed to the MOA this morning, because we need to exchange 2 of them. Hopefully it doesn't take too long.

I'd like to be home by lunch time, so I can finish off this dress - if that's what I decide to do. I also have a couple of accessories to make with it. Whatever I don't finish today - I will work on tomorrow.

I hope you all have a great day... :lovestruc

D~

The girls and I had just left Erin and Little V... I wish we could have spent more time with them, we had so much fun!

The girls and I napped until 3pm.

Victoria and I took a bus to MK... Alli was still tired, so she stayed at the resort a bit longer and met us in MK later.

IMG_1194.jpg

Victoria spotted a few characters upon our entry to MK, so she stopped for an autograph with Marie... Not sure what was wrong with the Photopass Photograper's camera -but it's the only photo we have with Marie, and since this update is a bit short on photos... Well,, you get to see it anyways. LOL

Photo1784FourBySix.jpg

We were headed to Adventureland, but I pit stopped for a couple of Photopass photos... V didn't want to be in them, so I guess it's just me... I felt a bit lonesome...

Photo1772FourBySix.jpg

Photo1777FourBySix.jpg

Victoria wanted to meet Aladdin and Jasmine - but we arrived just as they closed the line. She was so upset.

So, we went to Splash - the line was quite long, and the FP return time was right during our BOG ADR, so that wouldn't work.

V and I decided to hop the train to Fantasyland.

IMG_1196.jpg

Once there, we decided we were a bit hungry, so we walked to the Lunching Pad and had one of our "Must-Do" snacks... The Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel and a Frozen Coke! NUM! We sat at a table right outside in the shade and devoured all of it. It probably wasn't the best choice to have this snack right before our BOG ADR - but it was our very last chance to have one.

Once we were finished, we headed back to Fantasyland, via the back trail, so we could meet Alli - who was arriving from Main Street Station via the train.

While we were there, Bernadette and family texted me... We met up with them so we could say our goodbyes. I really hope our paths cross again one day - they are just a great family, and we enjoyed all the time we were able to spend with them!

Before we knew it, it was time for us to head to BOG to check in for our ADR... We said our goodbyes, and we were off...

Link to Day 9 Part H

D~ <--- Sorry for the short update... But the next one is quite long.

I stumbled across your amazing Donald bag and then became obsessed with your bags and then I stumbled across this trip report and now I'm obsessed with it too!

It looks like you and your girls have such a great time together, it has me scheming for when my girls get big!

D~ Your Geppetto/Pinocchio bag is perfectly done! I love seeing each new bag/project since your talent is just unlimited. Great job!

Your sunglasses pose on Main Street was very cute! I had to pose a few times all by my lonesome when Emmy decided she'd had enough photos taken.

Have a great Friday!

Kat's surgery went well - it was quite a long process, but she was in recovery and able to see her Dad by 4pm. Apparently she is back to her sassy, sailor self. Once I know more, I'll let you all know. Again, big thanks to everyone here. Its amazing that you are so caring about someone you've never met. I (and the rest of her family) appreciate it so much.

I am glad to be sewing again.

As to the sore muscles, I always take them as a sign that I'm doing something right. Not PAIN, just the soreness.

Great update and can't wait to hear about your BOG experience.

Alisha will be at the MOA this weekend (Mark has to recruit in Apple Valley, so Alisha is going with him to spend the money he makes for doing this :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:).

A short, but fun update. You got a little one on one time with V which is always good.

I love the photpass pictures of just you...they turned out great!

Can't wait to hear what you thought of BOG.

Good job on the "healthy you"! I so understand how you feel! I too have gone from a size 18w to a size 14! What fun to shop in the regular sizes! Now to get rid of the lumps and bumps! Have a great week end!

D I'll check our photos. I'm positive we saw Marie before we left and There was no line so we went for it. I may have one for you

WHOOT :thumbsup2 WHOOT :cool1: WHOOT! :cheer2: Congratulations on fitting into a size 14! TOTALLY AWESOME!

I love the turkey hat! Even though it’s bigger than you were expecting, I think it looks great!

So happy the coat fits – even better that A likes it!

I am sorry that your news was diabetes. I am glad they think it can be controlled with diet. I also have gestational diabetes and at first, I really wasn't very good with my diet and they thought I'd have to go on insulin but then I really buckled down and started "behaving" myself and it has been totally under control ever since. I know it's hard to not have the food you're used to, but changing the diet is MUCH better than insulin. I hope you can get your appointment moved up sooner. Good luck.

I'm very happy they think it can be controlled by diet. I know I'm not being the best right now and know I need to change my habits but it's soooo hard!! I'm also thinking that the diabetes could be part of the reason why I keep getting headaches after I eat certain foods (ice cream, a soda, etc.) they are high in sugar! I agree with you about changing my diet! I'd rather do that than have to deal with needles and insulin!! Especially with 3 little one's running around all the time. I'll keep everyone posted on how it ends up going. Thank you!!

Nini

That's one of my fears is the baby is going to be bigger than it would have been had I not gotten gestational diabetes. My youngest was 8lbs 4 oz and he was 10 days early. Makes me scared to think what he would have been had he went those last 10 days!!

They are very positive that I'll be able to control it with diet since I wasn't very far over the number. I'm going to do the best I can and hope for the best. We all make mistakes but I'm going to try not to beat myself up over it if I do.

Bummer - but I am glad you were able to get checked for it, and you'll be able to control it with your diet. Please keep us updated. (((Hugs)))

I'll be sure to keep you updated. Still have to try to change that appointment. Just got busy with the kids and getting things ready for their school carnival next weekend.

Love the hat!!! You'll look great in it while running!! That's awesome you were able to fit into a smaller sized pant!!

LOL! Of course it is Four Parks one world...that one is no longer available! Figures!!
LOL

Nini

Bummer... I wonder if they will release it again? It's my favorite CD... I also splurged in 2008 and purchased the Holiday one... can't remember the name of it, but it has all the MNSSHP and MVMCP music on it - I listen to that one all the time too - especially this time of year.

I stumbled across your amazing Donald bag and then became obsessed with your bags and then I stumbled across this trip report and now I'm obsessed with it too!

It looks like you and your girls have such a great time together, it has me scheming for when my girls get big!

Welcome! I am glad you are enjoying my TR - I have a lot of fun writing them! I do enjoy the time I have with my girls... I think back to all of the fantastic memories we have together, and I am just so lucky - and I know it - These amazing girls have touched my life in such incredible ways - I love every moment we spend together, whether it's here at home, or in Disney. I can only hope that every Mom is lucky enough to experience the same with their own children. I hope you'll continue to follow along... Even though I am getting close to wrapping this TR up - I will head back to the PTR section, as I have another trip to plan.

D~ Your Geppetto/Pinocchio bag is perfectly done! I love seeing each new bag/project since your talent is just unlimited. Great job!

Thank you Brenda - that really means a lot.

Your sunglasses pose on Main Street was very cute! I had to pose a few times all by my lonesome when Emmy decided she'd had enough photos taken.

Have a great Friday!

Hahaha... Thanks... I was surely awkward. LOL I hope you had a great Friday too - and I hope you have a great weekend!

PHOTOSHOOT!!! YAY!!!
boo no rides!

Nope - no photoshoot... no rides... Just 2 stores and we were outta there. LOL

I am so relieved that she is out of surgery and it went well. Thank you so much for keeping us updated - I really appreciate it! I am also so happy to hear she is back to her sassy, sailor self!!! That is awesome!!!

I am glad to be sewing again.

As to the sore muscles, I always take them as a sign that I'm doing something right. Not PAIN, just the soreness.

Great update and can't wait to hear about your BOG experience.

Hi Ruth!!! It's great to see you - I am happy that you are back to sewing!!!

Yah - the muscles are just sore, not painful - OK a LITTLE painful - but not hurt painful, just sore painful. LOL Did that make any sense? LOL

So, when do we get to hear about your trip????

Alisha will be at the MOA this weekend (Mark has to recruit in Apple Valley, so Alisha is going with him to spend the money he makes for doing this

Hahaha... I had just left Apple Valley (or maybe I was even still in Apple Valley) when you posted this yesterday... Such a small, small world! I hope they have a great time this weekend and Alisha enjoys the MOA... Hopefully she doesn't spend ALL of their $$. LOL

A short, but fun update. You got a little one on one time with V which is always good.

I love the photpass pictures of just you...they turned out great!

Can't wait to hear what you thought of BOG.

Yup!!! I always love spending one on one time with the girls - and they need it too... Especially on these long trips when they are together ALL. THE. TIME. LOL I am glad they are old enough to branch out a little bit - and they know the parks well enough to get around... And thank God for cell phones - there is NO WAY I would allow them to go off on their own with out some sort of communication with me.

Good job on the "healthy you"! I so understand how you feel! I too have gone from a size 18w to a size 14! What fun to shop in the regular sizes! Now to get rid of the lumps and bumps! Have a great week end!

Thanks Ruth! Yes - it is wonderful -but I am still not 100% convinced that I am a 14 - LOL I don't feel it, that's for sure... I look in the mirror (most days) and still see myself with all the extra weight... My brain will catch up one day, I am sure. Congratualtions to you!!! How are you feeling these days? I don't get to see you on The Dis very often anymore.

D I'll check our photos. I'm positive we saw Marie before we left and There was no line so we went for it. I may have one for you

I was wondering if I posted these out of sequence??? :scratchin I didn't have notes on meeting Marie, and when I uploaded the Photopass pictures - it inserted them earlier in the day... Oh well - it's close enough for me. LOL But if you happen to have a better picture - I'd happliy take it from you. :thumbsup2

WHOOT WHOOT WHOOT! Congratulations on fitting into a size 14! TOTALLY AWESOME!

Thank you! I am still not 100% convinced that I am truly a size 14... After all - I have a bunch of size 14s upstairs that I just tried on last week - and they were not even close to buttoning... So, either retailers have changed their sizing (which I've wondered about for years) - or I am just not in a true 14 yet. LOL Anyways - I am just happy that there is finally some progress, because I've been working so hard over the last several months, it's nice to finally have a reward for all of it.

I love the turkey hat! Even though it’s bigger than you were expecting, I think it looks great!

Thanks! I was so happy that she made it for me!!! And I love that she finally unearthed her sewing machine from her closet! I hope she finds a great creative outlet with it... and I think she has.

So happy the coat fits – even better that A likes it!

Me too!!!! It's such a relief!

Love the hat!!! You'll look great in it while running!! That's awesome you were able to fit into a smaller sized pant!!

It sounds like you have a great handle on what you need to do... Just make small changes each day - and soon you will be exactly where you need to be.

I don't think I will be running the Gobble Gait... since I can't run - but I will be walking REALLY FAST. LOL

**********************************************************

The girls and I had a great time at the MOA yesterday...

We stopped at BFF's house and picked her up to go with us... She is always very helpful when we are out shopping - it's nice to have the extra opinion, and Alli really has a special bond with her - so it's just so much easier to have BFF with us.

We were able to exchange Alli's jeans, we found 2 pairs at the store, and we were able to exchange the other one at the store, and they ordered it right there online for us - how perfect is that? I did not know that American Eagle did such a thing - how convenient! Then I didn't have to ship that last pair back to them - a great savings and also saved me the inconvenience of mailing/waiting/shipping them back. I was a happy girl.

Then, since we were at the MOA - we had to stop at the American Girl store... Victoria found her favorite personal shopper - who has been our personal shopper since the store opened (I think Victoria was 8?) - anyways, she has watched my girls grow over the years - so it was great visiting with her and chatting. :lovestruc

We left for JoAnns... I had to get some quilt batting, and BFF had to get some items for a hat that Miss Victoria requested...

We had lunch at Jimmy Johns... In Apple Valley (I said that just for Kathy - LOL)

Then we went to Kohls... I had those size 14 Levis in my hands again - and I left them behind AGAIN... LOL One day they WILL come home with me. ::yes::

The girls and I dropped BFF off...

Then I came home to work in my sewing room... I decided that I am putting this item together for my co-worker, whether it fits her or not.... I've let out an inch on each side by adding gussets, I can't do anything else to it - with out starting all over. So, it will either fit her or it won't - but I cannot spend any more time on it, as I am not going to get paid enough as it is. In the end - I've made it 2 sizes bigger than the measurments she gave me, I just can't do anything else. I feel badly about it. I will never, ever make a garment for anyone but us again... It's just too stressful!

The girls made dinner for us last night... Confetti Spaghetti (basically a veggie/spaghetti dish) - it was very good.

We all watched a movie... The adventures of Mickey (something) and some sort of treasure??? It was a really long title - but a good family movie.

Then it was off to bed.

Bored yet?

Today, I will be finishing the item for my coworker... I also have a couple of accessories to make her that go with it - then I am DONE!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!!

D~

I am sure that she will be thrilled with the item. Making custom orders is tough. I made custom quilts for a short time. It turned out to be too much work for too little income. And I found out that I wasn't disciplined enough to work out of my home, either. There were too many distractions. :guilty:

Your Geppetto bag is really well done. You have great control over your applique stitches. :thumbsup2 Do you feel like you are "one with the machine"? When I did my machine quilting I almost felt like the machine was an extension of my arm. I know that must sound weird.

I'm keeping up with your TR. However, haven't been posting. Finally went back to work on Thursday. Plus getting ready for the trip. Leaving in 7 days, and arriving in 8. Can't wait, but so busy.

is Josh's furlough pay going on his next paycheck? That seems to be the pattern here. My furlough pay is going on my next paycheck which will be directly deposited into my checking accoung on Oct 28, our first full day in the parks. I may have to dip into the vacation fund a little early this week (go to the credit union on Monday to transfer money over instead of going to the credit union on Friday). But I'll have the full amount of vacation money in my bank account by next Monday. I'll probably get a few hundred dollars more of Disney gift cards from Target this Wednesday (my day off). I have about $900 in gift cards; however I still have to buy my DD and DSIL's tickets (held out for the last minute in getting those), plus paying for two character meals. And of course, other things in the parks.

Oh I'm still here... More lurker than poster! We are under 365 days till our next trip! I'm so jealous of those going now but will so enjoy hearing about all their fun times! Enjoy the weekend! Rainy here!
