Aug 12-19.2013 Mickey's Mouseketeers -Alaska Cruise

On one hand I am MORE than ready! But.....so much to do and so little time!
Still working on FE gifts, still need to book a hotel for the 3 days pre cruise in Vancouver, , haven't even thought about packing...not to mention the magnets and I wanted to do a tshirt for the first day.
My girls are part of a program here called Kids Unlimited. It's a 6 week camp that ends with 4 Broadway style live shows so it's been go go go for the past 5 weeks. Didn't help that I bit off way more than I could chew with responsibility for camp. I'm so glad it's almost done!!

Oh! And a $700 van repair four weeks before vacation was not good. No more excursion in Ketchikan.....we're just going to explore on our own.

Hi there! I'm so ready too! But like Denise, I still have so much work to do! I will finish my women FE gifts today, all must be done by the end of the week

I got a lot of work done of the FE gifts this weekend. One more good work session and I think I can get them done. Thinking about the FE exchange I just wanted to encourage people to spread out the giving. With 20 cabins we should be about to spread it out over the week. I would suggest that if you have already received 3-4 gifts one day to wait until another day to hand out yours that way we are not left with days at the end with nothing. Also, try to have everything distributed by 1st dining on the last night. That way people can start packing up everything after dinner.

I am headed to Michigan this week to see 2 old high school friends get married! Hard for me to focus on Alaska when I am thinking about Michigan. I will be in full Alaska mode when I return!

Sounds like everyone is VERY busy and will need this vacation. I for one am ready. I still have magnets to do and t shirt but that won't take long. And then packing. Can't wait till August 10th when we leave and vacation begins!

I like Victoria's idea about extending the magic. Unfortunately my FE gift is something that is meant to be used during the cruise......so I'll be passing mine out early.

But...it's a multiple part thing so maybe.........just thinking out loud.

I'm so excited about this cruise and about participating to the FE. It's really a wonderful idea. On my first cruise, last october, I didn't dare but I'm so glad we did this time!

I was wondering, for the luky ones among you who already visited Alaska (aimshna ), we won't see Juneau (the town itself) because we took two excursions on this day and won't have time enough to discover the town.

Will we really miss something?

Juneau is a beautiful city. The tram is right there close to where we ported which gives you beautiful views. Of course there is lots of shopping and restaurants - local made items. Most of it is the tours to whale watching and glaciers and fishing. I just love staying on the ship and watching the float planes come in and taking in the scenery. We are not doing any tours because on our past trips we have done them all. My plan is to get off and do a little shopping and then just relax on the ship. There is so much beauty in Alaska to take in.

We have plans to do the same thing, aside from the White Pass Yukon rail trip in Skagway. We're going to Alaska for the gorgeous scenery. I'm looking forward to having a quieter time on the ship when others are off on excursions. We'll probably get off and poke around the shops, and hopefully find a wi-fi hotspot to check email so we're not swamped with it when we get home. Other than that, we're going to simply relax!

I'm sure that the shore excursions are going to be great fun, and well worth the time and money spent for the memories. If I was 20 years younger, I might very well be up for more adventure!

You will love the train ride. It is so beautiful up there! I wanted my kids to take it but it was too expensive for a family of 5! Prices sure have gone up since I took it a few years ago or else Disney is so much more money!

I've just checked our booking and we will return from our last excursion on 3.45 pm. So I think it will be too short to walk in town. We will stay on the boat and look at the scenery instead

When I was making research I found the Discover Skagway compagny. They offer the Whit Pass Summit excursion for a very low price. Have you ever book something by them?

We have rented a green jeep in Skagway and a car in Juneau to go exploring. We will just walk around Ketchican. After this week I will really need a vacation. Please don't feel like you need to deliver FE gifts more then once. I just wanted to make sure EVERYONE didn't deliver in the first 2 days. We will be arriving in Vancouver the evening of the 10th. We are flying Boston to Seattle then taking the Quick Shuttle up to our hotel (Westin Bayshore). It will be a long day. On the 11th we are hoping to go up to Capallino Bridge/ Grouse Mtn area. The 12th is my 40th birthday and I am so excited to spend in boarding the ship!

I planned to go to Grouse Mountain, but after the cruise. I booked an excursion on the evening because we will spend the rest of the day in Steveston, I love the Once Upon A Time show so much and I wanted to see the town

In Skagway we booked Liarsville with Donald. I think we will have great pictures opportunities! But as the excursion will finishe early (11.30 am), I was wondering about doing something else.
I first tought about going to the jewel garden by foot and enjoying the town on the afternoon but I saw that this compagny offers a combination of jewel garden and White passe summit.

My kids gifts are finished! I hope they will like them!

PS: Victoria, do you plan to eat at Grouse Mountain? On their restaurant?
