Is there a DIS family checking into Kidani on Saturday Morning?
If so, I would love to give you some milk, ice cream and popsicles and yogurt.
I ordered way too much and have gallons of milk. 1/2 gallon of vanilla ice cream- for root beer floats!!! and lots of yogurt and cheese sticks left over.
I fly home tomorrow and can't take it with me!
Let me know.
Karen

Shoot...we'll be there Wed. Wonder if there's anywhere they could store it for us! Isn't there cold storage in the luggage room?

I am in a 2 bedroom Kidani villa and we are Loving all the extra room and the 3 full bathrooms!

Tomorrow is a resort afternoon and evening- so we'll get to enjoy Kidani even more!

THREE full bathrooms - ni-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ice! :thumbsup2

Anyone with updates on progress they are making with replacing fridges in Jambo house.? I sent an email and all they would tell me was they were in the process of replacing them , and a limited number of refrigerators (the medical ones, I'm guessing?) are available by request, but could not be guaranteed. They wouldn't even tell me if we would have to pay for one those fridges if we did happen to get it. I'm just bummed bc I won't know whether to get groceries ahead of time. And we were counting on the fridge to keep food costs down.

I don't know how far along they are. I do know that you can request one and they'll do everything they can to get you one. If you NEED one for medical purposes, they still cannot guarantee it. Regardless they won't charge you for it.

I'll be there on Wednesday and I'll check and see what I can find out.

Thanks! We aren't due to arrive for a couple of weeks. We don't need it for medical purposes, but it sure is a bummer not knowing if we will have one. Was hoping to stock lunchables and breakfast foods, and really wouldn't trust perishables to a cooler for long periods of time.

I guess we will be bringing lots of peanut butter and bread. Kids won't be happy, but they were on board with sacrificing part of our food budget to do the savannah view upgrade :)

I'm in a second floor Arusha bunk room and it has the small fridge still in the room. By small fridge, I mean the small size non DVD fridge with no freezer. So ... They haven't taken them out yet from here.

Good to know!

Dos anyone else have any fridge related updates? Really hope we still get one next week.

Also, are there ice machines?

Yes, there are ice machines for sure. Also, I don't see a mad rush here to take fridges out. I don't see them doing this with any haste. You will be fine

Ciao , AKL experts !!
Our stay at AKL will be here in no time !!

Here is a question by my dear husband !! :coffee:

We have heard that AKL has free WIFI :

1) Do we need to have a password , or we can simply connect by default to an “unsecured” network?

2) Does WIFI work well both in the room and in common areas ?

3) How is the signal quality ?

4) Are there any issues reported ?

The reason because I am asking these questions is that my husband just purchased a Galaxy Note 8 and has some difficulties to connect from places that are supposed to have “Free WIFI” .

:worship::worship: THANKYOU !! laura :flower3:

SOOOOOOO excited....today is our 100 day mark! :cool1::banana::woohoo:

We're staying in a savannah view studio in Kidani...the hubby and kids have NEVER stayed at a deluxe before so this is a huge treat for them. I don't know if we'll be able to go back to the values after this. :rotfl2:

Time to get into serious trip planning mode!

You can't go back they don't let you lol... ... Alarms sound in the values when you now enter 'intruder alert' these people have stayed in deluxe...even skipping moderate lol..

100 days awesome! We were booked at All Stars last year because we ran out of dvc points to stay at AKV and wanted a extra trip (greedy). Needless to say we gave in cancelled All Stars in the end and rented off somebody on the disboards and booked Kidani which was amazing! I couldn't cope without being told 'welcome home!' ...

Ciao!

1. No password needed it just works like pixie dust!
2. Yes never had any issues with our ipads.
3. We found signal and speed very good. We were located near reception in Kadani.
4. No issues that I know of. It was also good by the pool.

The wifi in the parks was also very good. DW was able to connect her phone most of the time without using her network. Downtown Disney also. So there is no excuse not to update us on your trip lol..l

Hope this helps! How exiting your AKV time is nearly here. Paula x

We're from Canada - not sure if it makes a difference, but we tend to have difficulties connecting to the free wi-fi on property - at the resort is better than the parks, but it still takes several tries.

I find 5AM works better than 5PM (as in amount of traffic changes connectivity).

I'm on the AKL wifi now. There are two wifi here. One in room and another for outside areas including parks. No problem connecting on my iPad or blackberry.

Just got home from our weekend trip..AKL -Jambo room 5577 all the way at the end of the Zebra trail but it was fantastic. Had dinner last night at Sanaa ( we had Jiko reserved but changed it after I had a minor fender bender on Friday and now have to buy a lady a bumper paint job)
I will post pictures tomorrow.. I took a packet of Joffrey coffee (available in DVC) for tomorrow morning!

Our DVC room had a whirlpool mini fridge.. I made a comment to the bellman and he said only a few had been removed from AKL... So, maybe it wasn't as wide spread

:worship::worship::worship: THANKYOU so much !! I hope this news will keep DH quiet !! :rotfl::rotfl: Can you believe it ? He HAS to keep in touch with office while we are on our long-dreamed-of trip !! :hyper:
Should I kill him ??? :rotfl2::rolleyes2

Did you all here this?.... it was posted on here and it happened 7/19/13... Said 6 families had to be moved and Mara had some issue's with this too... I have mold and Mildew allergies and thinking of calling up my IPO to confirm this and request not to be put in that area. Drying out a rug with a soaked pad takes some time and the climate needs to be humid free and very cool to properly dry of its a breeding ground for mold to grow. Apparently a guest knocked down the sprinkler head in the shower. Apologies if this was already discussed, just hopped on and posted...

I am new to AK thread but I 1. Don't think it ever hurts to put something on your request related to health issues; 2. Sprinkler water is actually pretty dirty and stinky so if the damage is significant (one sprinkler head lets out a lot of water within minutes - flooded a whole department with 7 inches of water on 5 minutes - equal to the size of one chain in Kidani). This will be a significant cleanup for Disney. More than likely furniture tossed or if hard wiped down with disinfectants, carpet needs to be replaced, walls if saturated to much replaced. I've lived through it. 3. It's Disney I would have no concern of them doing it right. Even though in the resorts I've stayed at they should have their sprinkler heads up in the ceiling with a cap.

I agree, I will call this week and request a floor that wasn't effected by the flooding, apparently this went on for 40mins so I could imagine the amount of water damage done was significant...
