Disney Dream October 6, 2013

I've done that too lately... on Sunday's I'd be thinking about boarding and having our first lunch on board, Monday's we'd be at Nassau, Tuesday's we'd be at Castaway Cay, Wednesday's a day at sea day... then I'd usually skip over Thursday's and go straight to Friday thinking only 12 more Fridays to go!!!

Happy Friday everyone! Only 12 more to go!

Ahhh... 12 weeks from right now we'd be boarding and having our first lunch back on board the Dream! :goodvibes

Later today I will probably end up watching the Dream leave port on the webcam. :)

It just feels like one of those DCL Dreamin' days pirate:

Lol...I so watch the webcam, too. My husband thinks I'm a little crazy. I have never cruised before and neither has he. I have also never been to disney and neither has our kids so I am just overtly excited! I really hope my hubby loves the cruise as much I will so we can cruise again.

I haven't seen it actually leave port yet, what time does it typically leave?

The 3 ships in today "typically" leave between 4 and 5pm. The Carnival Sensation goes first between 4-4:30. Then goes the RCL Freedom of the Seas goes next, followed by the Dream. So, for the Dream, probably around 4:50 it will cast off and start it's trip.

Funny, you sound like us 4 years ago. We had never sailed before, and DW had wanted to sail DCL for a year or so, but I never really wanted to. Finally she convinced me to agree to it. And I was excited about going, but not as excited as her. Well... that first cruise was amazing and we all got hooked, especially me. And that shocked both of us.

When we walked off the gangway after that first cruise... both my wife and I actually felt emotional about it - it caught us both off guard! It was such an amazing vacation - and watching our then 5 year old enjoy the cruise so much, confirmed that we were hooked.

Oh that makes me even more excited! I hope my husband feels the same. He is wonderful and will do whatever makes me happy, but I want him to want to do again too. Plus, I don't want to feel guilty for spending so much money on a vacation. Haha. We've been saving for two years and...I...am...ready!

One more ?- did u feel sea sick at all. I think he should take some bonine or something just in case but he thinks he will be fine...but I would hate it if he was sea sick ....I've heard that it's harder to get rid of once you're sailing. TIA!

The very first time, we did start to feel it the first night. We had the patches that you put behind your ear, but we hadn't put them on. After that we were fine. And since then, we've cruised 4 more times and everytime we've put the patch on at breakfast before we went to the port. We've never had an issue since. And one of the cruises was right after a hurricane, and that first night the seas were rough. But we never had a problem. And the patches are supposed to work for 72 hours, so we only ever used one each. And if after the first day or two, it falls off, no big deal, we figured enough of the stuff got into our system and we were good. Some people don't like the patches and have had side effects, but for us, they've worked great.

I will warn you - once you get off the ship, it may take a few days to get your land legs back. You may feel a bit more nauseous after the cruise than you did on it. Especially if you are standing still in the dark somewhere... like going to the bathroom at night! You'll feel like you're back on board. Or when you close your eyes to go to sleep. LOL

But it goes away pretty quick. And it's still worth it!

And for someone who didn't really want to go the first time...I'm the biggest DCL nut now. My computer screen at work has a picture of DCL, my mouse pad is DCL, my coffee cup is DCL, my lanyard for my badge is DCL, and I have 2 DCL polo shirts that I wear to work. If anyone at work wants to know about DCL, they come and talk to me. :rotfl2:

Haha. Good to know. Thanks for the info! We will definitely be trying out the patch (or I will at least). Do you get them from a regular doctor?

Thanks for the info...I didn't think about Halloween events.

Hey everyone...we've been knee deep in wedding planning and haven't had much time to get on the board and socialize!

My fiancee and I will be doing the FE with you all! We are in 8612.

This is my 6th DCL cruise and her first cruise period...it will be our honeymoon! Spending a couple of nights at BLT before the trip and another night at the BWV after the cruise.

Cheers,
Josh (& Sarah)

Wow ! Sounds like fun !!

Well I am not a Halloween fan at all so not looking forward to that stuff. I think it's my second least liked holiday right behind Thanksgiving. Oh and greetings from Disneyland's 58th anniversary.

I have to agree with you. My kids oldest will love it but I am worried that they will only play Halloween movies on board...my daughter will be 18 months old and I'm not sure she will care for them. ..me either frankly. Oh well!

I don't know if they are planning on it being a lot different from a couple years ago or not, but for Oct 2011, I don't recall being bombarded by Halloween movies. Hopefully it won't be too bad.
