Coming to you Live from Disney World!-Take 2 AUG/SEPT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Stephanie also sent us our second update yesterday, this one from their lunch at DHS'...

She said, "This morning, we skipped breakfast and had an early lunch at Studio Catering."

Menu pic...

Current specials...

Condiment bar...

"John and I split the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and Fries. It was super good but not really what I was expecting from being labeled a "buffalo" chicken sandwich. I was expecting it to be dipped in buffalo sauce and then topped with ranch, but instead it had a tiny bit of "buffalo ranch" on the bun. I still liked it though and John said it was tasty too!" :thumbsup2

Hello Barb and other friends!

After running into a fellow DISBoard member on our trip last March who I recognized from photos on this thread I wanted to pop in an share this and see if anyone else relates. I've just finished the book "The Night Circus" by Erin Mortensen and there is a group of people in the book called Reveleurs who are fans of the circus. They dress only in monochrome palates and wear a splash of red to mark themselves (LGMH anyone?) See if this reminds you of a group you might know. :):)

This reminds me very much of my Disney loving friends - those who I know face to face and those I know from the DISBoards who share my nerdy obsession.

"They seek each other out, these people of such specific like mind. They tell of how they found the circus, how those first few steps were like magic. Like stepping into a fairy tale under a curtain of stars. They pontificate upon the fluffiness of the popcorn, the sweetness of the chocolate. They spend hours discussing the quality of the light, the heat of the bonfire. They sit over their drinks smiling like children and they relish being surrounded by kindred spirits, if only for an evening. When they depart, they shake hands and embrace like old friends, even if they have only just met, and as they go their separate ways they fell less alone than the had before."

Rather lovely, isn't it?

That is lovely!!! Thanks for sharing. That does remind me of the disboards!

This is perfect! Thanks so much for sharing it with us, Dawn. :goodvibes

Next Rachel (rachel09985) sent us the final updates of her trip which ended yesterday.

She and Corey spent Monday snacking around Epcot, starting with breakfast snacks at...

Sunshine Seasons

"Yesterday was our Epcot day. We snacked around a lot. First we went to Sunshine Seasons for breakfast. I missed our boma reservation :( I had the croissant bread pudding and Corey had a red velvet whoopie pie. The bread pudding was great!"

"Then we went to..."

"We had Chips and Queso."

"And I got the San Angel margarita...

San Angel Inn Margarita with Tequila, Orange Liqueur, Agave Nectar, Lime Juice, served chilled with a salt rim

Rachel said, "The queso was very good but spicy. It was not a good idea to drink this and then walk around the world in 92 degree heat. It was very strong!"

Then from Japan's...

Kabuki Cafe

"To combat the heat I had to get a kakigori. They were out of melon so I had to get tangerine."

And then last was a visit to France's...

Boulangerie Patisserie

"I got the croissant with ham and cheese. It wasn't as good as last time because the cheese wasn't melted."

"I got creme brûlée as well which was too rich for the heat."

Sadly Rachel then sent us her very last (two-part) update from their trip.

She said, "Tonight we went to..."

"It felt so good to get out of the heat"

"We split the large pepperoni pizza."

"We had one slice left over. It was yummy and hit the spot."

"Then we got the zeppole..."

"These were so good: light and fluffy! I loved the whipped cream that goes with those. Chocolate sauce is a little too rich for me."

"Then we get the New France ice cream place again. I had hazelnut, which was much better than the profiterole."

One of my FAVORITE books!!!

Next on Tuesday we received another Earl of Sandwich update, but this is from the one at Disney World.

On Tuesday evening, keypooh90 and family had dinner at Downtown Disney's...

Earl of Sandwich

She said, "My sister had the Full Montagu..."

The Full Montagu - Roasted beef, turkey, Swiss, sharp cheddar, lettuce, tomato & mustard sauce

"My sister says "This is my favorite sandwich at Earl. I love it!"

"My mom had the all American...

All American - Turkey, sharp cheddar, cranberries, lettuce, tomato & ranch dressing

"My mom loves the all American. She said the combination of cranberry and ranch compliments the turkey perfectly."

"And I had the Hawaiian barbecue..."

Hawaiian BBQ - Grilled chicken, ham, Swiss, pineapple & Hawaiian BBQ sauce

"This was my first time eating the Hawaiian barbecue and I loved it! It's unique, different and tasty!"

Switching over now to the Universal parks for an update from our reporter there, SwirlyGirly.

She had dinner at Island of Adventure's...

"The kids had Pad Thai which they said was delish, but the photo didn't come out!"

"I had the Risotto of the Day which was blackened shrimp, grilled veggies and a creamy tomato sauce. It was flavorful and was pretty good. If the risotto would have been creamier and with more broth, it would have been awesome."

Our last update sent Tuesday is sadly the last one from DonaldDoleWhip.

He said, "Our last stop before leaving WDW was the Polynesian."

Menus

"Cupcakes (PB&J and Red Velvet)"

Some Restaurant Pics

"While my mom was ordering food, I went for a short walk outside."

"The Grand Floridian was originally named the Grand Floridian Beach Resort. I still can't believe the resort's beach (shown below) is mostly gone."

"At least the Poly still has its beaches (for now)! Back at Captain Cook's, my mom asked for a turkey sandwich on multigrain. She enjoyed it as usual, and it was a perfect last meal for her before we headed off to our airport hotel."

"Mickey in the Polynesian Lobby"

"Our flight was at about 6:30 the following morning. I took a few pics from the plane."

Jersey Shore

"Long Island (JFK Airport is near the center of this pic)"

"That's the last of my updates - it's been so much fun sharing them here!"

And since that was DonaldDoleWhip's final update, it's now time to say...

Thanks so much for being a Live Reporter...Outstanding Job!!! :thanks:

Again, thank you so much Barb for sharing my updates! I know there was some delay, but you still put up with me. And at the same time, you've been handling dozens of other updates each day! :goodvibes

Rereading my Sanaa review is pretty interesting right now. Just last night, we had dinner at an Indian restaurant in NYC. While the restaurant was great (I got an amazing cocktail with cardamom-infused vodka!), Sanaa holds up surprisingly well in comparison. In fact, the bread accompaniments and overall value may have been better at Sanaa. :thumbsup2

Raglan Road won me over with our brunch experience. Before, I wasn't a huge fan of it, but this meal was great. Brunch at Raglan is highly recommended, and it's one of the meals I'm most looking forward to repeating. (Jiko, Sanaa, and Captain's Grille breakfast are also on that list!)

Seeing the last set of pictures is bittersweet. Not just because they're from the end of our trip, but also because of the GF construction. I've heard rumors that a (5-story) Poly DVC building will be built where the luau is now. This would further erode the open spaces that once separated Poly and GF. Some changes at WDW don't bug me too much (Starbucks), but I'm not a fan of the Seven Seas Lagoon 'clutter'. :worried:

Regarding the flight pics: if you search for Jones Beach on Google Maps, you'll see exactly where that last pic was taken. :)

donald dole whip- loved your updates! Too bad we couldn't meet up. It is funny because we were in a lot of the places at the same time- DHS on the 4th, AKL on the 5th, AK on the 6th! Funny! I loved the club lounge offerings. I agree with you on the jalapeno margarita, I was expecting a lot more spiciness. It was semi disappointing.
I've also loved your updates! It's crazy how close we came to bumping into each other. Hopefully we'll get that chance again sometime. And it's also too bad about that margarita, but at least they have a bunch of other flavors to try.
