Good night and sweet Disney dreams! :wave2:

A couple more updates sent Monday before I have to leave this morning, the first one from keypooh90 from their lunch at...

Contempo Cafe

She said, "Since we were at the Magic Kingdom until 12:45 am, we slept in and today was an off day. We had lunch at Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary before riding the monorail loop."

"My mom had the Chicken Artichoke Flatbread with coke and a brownie."

"My mom said the chicken had no flavor but the cheese, artichoke and tomato were good. She wouldn't get this again."

"My sister had the warm Turkey Stack sandwich with chips and the birthday cake cupcake."

"My sister said her sandwich wasn't as good as she thought it would be. She loved the chips."

"I had the Angus Chuck Burger with cheddar cheese, chips and the chocolate coconut cupcake."

"I enjoyed the burger. It was juicy and I love the house made chips."

And here are their desserts...

"The brownie was way too rich and dense. My sister's cupcake was very moist and flavorful and mine was tasty and different."

And then also a dinner update from keypooh90, this from Downtown Disney's...

"My mom had the scallops, I had battered chicken tenders, and my sister had the battered sausages."

"My mom always orders the scallops and said they were flaky, fresh and delicious."

"I could only eat one piece of chicken. It was delicious but too heavy."

"My sister loved the sausages but said the portion was too large."

"For dessert, we all had ice cream, two swirl and one vanilla."

"My mom said the ice cream was okay. We all wished there were better dining plan dessert options here."

Just a reminder that next up to the Disney Dining Plate is...

:cheer2: DisneyFam09 :cheer2:

DisneyFam09 will be at Disney World from 7/11 - 7/24 and has volunteered again to do live updates for us!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP, DisneyFam09!!! :cool1:

Next in on Monday were a couple of updates from Stephanie (SRiley1985).

The first was a snack update from...

She said, "While we were waiting on our room at BCV to be ready, we decided to get some ice cream."

"John was boring and got two scoops of mint chocolate chip. He said it hit the spot!"

"I got a "baby" (that's what the waitress kept calling it  ) No Way Jose. It was amazing but I couldn't finish it."

"This is after John helped me out. I gave it my best though and practically put myself in an ice cream coma." ;)

1 July Game Point Earned + 1 Bonus Point for name pic

Stephanie also sent us a dinner update from Epcot's...

Tutto Italia

"First the bread service. We didn't really like the crunchy breadsticks but the other soft bread was tasty!"

"We split the polenta dish. It came with two meatballs and a piece of short rib. The meatballs were really good and the polenta nice and cheesy."

"This is the polenta after I mixed the cheese in."

"No dessert here because after Illuminations, we are heading over to Jellyrolls and plan on stopping at the Boardwalk Bakery." :)

Next in on Monday night were some more updates from DonaldDoleWhip.

When we last heard from him he was at Epcot enjoying his ice cream in France.

He said, "Since I was already inside the Les Halles seating area, I definitely wanted to see the expanded bakery for the first time."

"These really caught my eye - I'll have to try one next time."

"Instead of a savory choice, I picked something that's stirred up a lot of controversy recently - the Napoleon. There have been many complaints that the new version isn't as good as the old one, but I haven't seen much discussion as to why this one is worse. Since I can't remember tasting the old one, I thought I would enjoy it."

"Even without comparing the Napoleon to its predecessor, I thought it looked better than it tasted. This was primarily due to the pastry cream - it was a bit too thick and eggy, so I removed most of the cream and finished the rest."

"On my way out of France, I stopped and looked at the Monsieur Paul menu."

"I see plenty on the menu that sounds good, but the prices seem rather high (even for Disney)."

"Still, I'd love to try it one day."

"France has always been one of my favorite pavilions for dining, so it's nice to finally see the bakery expansion and new ice cream shop!"

:cheer2: DisneyFam09 :cheer2:

DisneyFam09 will be at Disney World from 7/11 - 7/24 and has volunteered again to do live updates for us!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP, DisneyFam09!!! :cool1:

So excited!!! I will be in Florida in 24 hours :cloud9:
There will be 10 of us at most ADRs Ranging in age from 2 - 72!!! We will be celebrating my mom's 65th bday and my daughter's 7th bday. There will be special ordered cakes, lots of snacks, and meals @ CRT, Trails End, Rose and Crown, O'Hana, Via Napoli, Olivia's, and Chef Mickey. Can't wait to share our adventure with all of you.

DonaldDoleWhip continued, "Next up on my trip around World Showcase was Morocco."

"I was in the mood for one of my favorite drinks, so I headed to the..."

Menu

"The Iced Moroccan Mint Tea is so refreshing, and it comes unsweetened! I don't like any sweetener at all in my tea."

"My next food stop was also in Morocco."

Menu

"The ceiling in the main dining room is gorgeous."

"In fact, the entire pavilion is full of incredible details."

"My choice was the Vegetable Platter with Falafel, Tangierine Couscous Salad, Hummus, Tabouleh, Lentil Salad, and Marinated Olives."

"For quick service, this was a fantastic plate of food, and it was extremely filling. However, the falafel is interesting here. The taste and texture reminded me of a Burger King chicken tender with coriander seeds. Not bad at all, but unlike any other falafel I've had."

"One more pic from Morocco - construction on the Spice Road Table restaurant seems to be moving quickly."

3 July Game Points Earned + 7 Bonus Points for signs, menus, and misc. pics

Then DonaldDoleWhip said, "From Morocco, I continued making my way around World Showcase."

IllumiNations Globe

"This next stop wasn't originally on my list, but there was definitely something I wanted to try here."

Italy's Gelato Kiosk

"I picked the Espresso Gelato "Affogato" - Fresh Italian Espresso Poured over Fior Di Latte Gelato, Topped with Chocolate Coffee Beans."

"Although it was small and pricey, this was amazing! The sweet, creamy gelato and intense, bitter espresso complemented each other perfectly. The crispy wafer, cookies, and coffee beans were an added bonus. If you're a fan of coffee-flavored ice cream, I highly recommend this indulgence."

"After all that eating, it was time to drink away the regret (just kidding - kind of ;)). Actually, I'd been wanting to stop somewhere in Mexico for a very long time."

"My final stop was..."

Margarita and Food Menus

"I was torn between two drinks (the Avocado and the Jalapeño Margaritas), but in the end I went with the Jalapeño Margarita."

"My one disappointment is that it wasn't as spicy as I expected it to be. Perhaps the cucumber cooled it down a lot, or maybe they've toned down this drink (a CM in Mexico told me that it's really spicy). Either way, it was still a good margarita, and I'd happily return here."

"While walking around WS, I'd asked my mom if she wanted me to bring anything back to the room. She said she felt like Moroccan quick service, so I grabbed her a chicken wrap on the way back. She loved this dish, even saying it could be the best quick service meal she's had at WDW."

"Bonus pics from Yacht Club - this rabbit was clearly enjoying itself in the garden. It was happily munching on some flowers."

4 July Game Points Earned + 8 Bonus Points for signs, menus, and misc. pics

Now switching back to one of our Universal reporters, SwirlyGirly, for a report from City Walk's...

She said, "We waited so long for our meals, I forgot to take pictures. I had the bouillabaisse, and it was good but on the spicy side. The kids had the kids' filet mignon. They were very happy with it. The down side is we spent over 2 hrs there and didn't even have appetizers or desserts!" :(

"We preordered champagne to be delivered to the Club room. They were very kind to let us stay after closing to enjoy it since we waited so long for our dinners."

1 July Game Point Earned + 2 Bonus Points for sign and menu pics

Now we return to DonaldDoleWhip for some more updates, starting with one from his dinner last Saturday night.

He said, "For our last TS dinner, we headed over to Kidani Village."

"Dinner was at..."

"Sanaa is yet another place with unexpectedly awesome bathrooms."

"View from our table..."

Menu

"We both got cocktails - my mom loved the Malawi Mango Margarita."

"I had the Painted Lemur, which was beautifully presented and tasted like dessert."

"We started with the Indian-style Bread Service."

"We chose one order of Garlic-Ginger Naan and two orders of Onion Kulcha.

"The naan was extremely buttery, and after ripping off a piece, I could immediately smell the scent of ginger!"

"The onion kulcha was also delicious."

"For our accompaniments, we opted to try all nine!"

-On the left side (from top to bottom) are the Garlic Pickle, Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle, and Red Chile Sambal.
-In the middle column (from top to bottom) are the Coconut Chutney, Coriander Chutney, and Tamarind Chutney.
-On the right side (from top to bottom) are the Roasted Bell Pepper Hummus, Mango Chutney, and Cucumber Raita.

"Our server, Patrick, explained that the ones on the left are generally "spicy", the ones in the middle are "savory", and the ones on the right are "cooling".

"Everything was delicious, with each of the accompaniments having its own unique flavor. If you're wondering, I thought the spiciest one (by far) was the Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle."

"Still, I think I showed the spicy accompaniments who's boss!" ;)

Continued in next post

DonaldDoleWhip continued, "We also shared the Salad Sampler with (1) Mango, (2) Watermelon, Cucumber, and Fennel, and (3) Kachumbari."

"I really liked them all. They were all extremely refreshing and helped me cool off after eating the spicy accompaniments."

"The mango salad had a slight taste of lime juice."

"The watermelon and cucumber was especially cooling, thanks to the addition of mint."

"The Kachumbari (tomato salad with paneer) was also very enjoyable."

"Before the rest of our food arrived, I noticed that several tables by the window were finished and leaving. I used that time to take a few animal pics without disturbing anyone nearby."

"For my main meal, I got two appetizers: the first was Peri Peri Shrimp with Avocado, Pap, and Apple Slaw."

"As a huge fan of peri peri, this dish slightly let me down since the spices were somewhat muted. The creamy avocado and pap were good, but they would've made a bigger impact if the spice level had been higher. My mom tried some and agreed (even though she has a hard time with "spicy" foods, she still enjoys foods that are "spiced")."

"My other appetizer was the Kadhai Steamed Mussels with Fennel-infused Coconut Sauce."

"The mussels were nicely cooked and served with a very creamy sauce. My mom tried some of this as well, and she loved it. The crostini on the side had a slightly sweet flavor - it reminded me of Jiko's Dabo (Ethiopian Honey-Wheat) bread."

"My mom had the Sustainable Fish (Grouper) with Carrot Purée, Shrimp, and Veggies."

"She loved this dish, and I tried some as well - the carrot purée was nicely spiced."

"We couldn't say no to dessert. Here's the menu (and tea selection)."

"I had a pot of Organic Rooibos, while my mom enjoyed the Piña Colada Rooibos."

"We then split the Dessert Trio, with Tanzanian Chocolate Mousse, Carrot Halva Cake, and Chai Cream."

"The carrot halva cake was slightly drier than when I had it a few months ago, but it still tasted good with the cardamom whipped cream and blood orange-apricot sauce."

"The chai cream was my favorite as usual, and this time it was topped with an edible white chocolate spoon. The full-size chai cream used to come with a chocolate-dipped spoon, so I appreciate that they brought back the 'chocolate spoon' concept."

"The Tanzanian chocolate mousse with salted caramel sauce was my mom's favorite - I also really liked it."

"Overall, this was probably our best meal at Sanaa. While I wish the spice level of my shrimp had been higher, I understand that Sanaa has to tone some things down for a broader audience. Aside from that, many parts of our meal (such as the bread service, salads, and fish) were fantastic, and the chai cream and rooibos were a perfect ending as usual."

"One more thing - I love the quotes scattered around Kidani Village."

finally got caught up on all of the updates! Thanks to Barb for keeping up with the massive amount of updates!

I have major PDD (post disney depression) so I am already ready to go back in December.

donald dole whip- loved your updates! Too bad we couldn't meet up. It is funny because we were in a lot of the places at the same time- DHS on the 4th, AKL on the 5th, AK on the 6th! Funny! I loved the club lounge offerings. I agree with you on the jalapeno margarita, I was expecting a lot more spiciness. It was semi disappointing.

DonaldDoleWhip's next update was from Sunday Brunch on July 7th.

"Our last TS meal was at..."

"We were excited to finally try their brunch menu."

"Going into this meal, I was in a pretty bad mood after a frustrating experience with parking. It took over 20 minutes of circling the DTD lot, and I was panicking that we would lose our reservation. That said, as soon as we were seated, it was like the parking struggles hadn't even happened. This was an absolute "feel good" meal, and we had an incredible view of the band and dancers from our table."

Ceiling

"As usual, the meal started with Raglan's Irish Soda Bread and some Guinness Reduction."

"We love this bread so much, and our friendly server Michelle actually brought us a second basket when we requested it."

"My starter was the Soul Soup, which was Sweet Potato-Coconut."

"This was thick and comforting, and it was served with a light, flaky cheese twist on the side."

"My mom started with the Salmon Swoon - Choice Irish Smoked Salmon served with Shallots, Capers, and Crème Fraîche."

"I tried some of the salmon with capers and really enjoyed it - it was classic and delicious."

"My mom's main course was the Smoked Salmon Omelette with tomatoes and chives, served with roasties on the side."

"The roasted potatoes are actually cooked in duck fat, and my mom said this is the best omelette she's had in a long time."

"I chose the Eggs en Cocotte: Farm fresh eggs baked with spinach, mushrooms, and Dubliner cheddar cheese served with toast soldiers."

"This was the ultimate comfort food breakfast - the eggs were perfectly cooked (still runny on the inside), and they were immersed in a thick, velvety cheese sauce. The toast soldiers were perfect for dipping into the cheesy goodness. On a separate note, I loved that both breakfast dishes included some cooked tomato, since this is something I've come to expect when enjoying a British/Irish-inspired breakfast."

"Somehow, we managed to make room for dessert."

"Before dessert came, my mom had some coffee and I had a pot of green passion tea."

"My mom hadn't tried the bread pudding here before (and I last had it two years ago), so we opted to split it. We also split a second dessert."

"Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding was delicious once again. Sweet, buttery, and with plenty of golden raisins, I probably could've forced down a whole plate of this. The homemade butterscotch and crème anglaise sauces are perfect with it."

"Our second dessert was the Dunbrody Kiss - a rich creation full of chocolate."

"We couldn't make much of a dent in this after eating our portions of bread pudding, but my mom still loved it. I probably would've enjoyed it more if I hadn't been so stuffed."

"For a while, Raglan Road has been one of my mom's favorites. I was less enthusiastic about it, but this meal has converted me for now. I can't wait to come back and hopefully do brunch here again!"

5 July Game Points Earned for RR Sunday Brunch Update + 5 Bonus Points for sign, menus, and misc. pics

The last update sent in on Monday was also from DonaldDoleWhip.

He said, "After our brunch at Raglan, we returned to Yacht Club just to relax. I went swimming in Stormalong Bay, and eventually I felt like heading into Epcot for a few last bites."

"My first stop was Japan."

"I was looking forward to trying a new snack at Kabuki Café."

Menu

"I got the Temari Sushi - Curved "Bite Size" Nigiri Topped with Tuna, Salmon, and Shrimp."

"This snack, while simple, was cute, light, and very enjoyable. Plus, it included generous servings of wasabi and pickled ginger."

"Action shot:"

"On my way to my next destination, I passed by the American Adventure. I know it's not very patriotic of me, but there was nothing I wanted to eat here."

"Next stop - Norway!"

Menu

"I decided to try the Open-faced Salmon Sandwich on toasted Multigrain Bread with Dill Cream Cheese Spread, Hard-boiled Egg Slices, and Red Onion."

"For a Disney CS meal, this was pretty interesting. However, it paled in comparison to a similar open-faced Scandinavian salmon sandwich I can get in Philly for $2 cheaper. The Philly version has cucumber, radish slices, capers, fresh dill, crème fraîche, and even caviar on it."

"For dessert, I decided to give the School Bread another shot. I've tried it twice (with the last time being about two years ago), and I thought the third time might be a charm."

"For the first time, I really enjoyed it! There was a bit too much custard in it for me, so once I removed some of it, I could truly savor the cardamom flavor of the bun."

"Next was Canada, where I stopped to see Le Cellier's current menu."

"While there's plenty on the menu that sounds good to me (such as the Wild King Salmon and the Lobster Poutine), I don't know if the food is worth the prices (compared to other Disney restaurants)."

"Finally, I walked through the UK and admired the chalk art. This one is for the tennis fans out there."

"One last pic of World Showcase..."

6 July Game Points Earned + 9 Bonus Points for signs, menus, and misc. pics

Now for our First Update of the Day from yesterday, sent to us by Stephanie (SRiley1985).

She said, "So after Illuminations last night, we walked over to the Boardwalk."

"We split an Oreo cupcake..."

"I didn't realize the icing was whipped cream, which I hate. :( I did like the cookies and cream mousse in the middle of the cupcake though. I could have eaten a whole cup of it!"

Hello Barb and other friends!

After running into a fellow DISBoard member on our trip last March who I recognized from photos on this thread I wanted to pop in an share this and see if anyone else relates. I've just finished the book "The Night Circus" by Erin Mortensen and there is a group of people in the book called Reveleurs who are fans of the circus. They dress only in monochrome palates and wear a splash of red to mark themselves (LGMH anyone?) See if this reminds you of a group you might know. :):)

This reminds me very much of my Disney loving friends - those who I know face to face and those I know from the DISBoards who share my nerdy obsession.

"They seek each other out, these people of such specific like mind. They tell of how they found the circus, how those first few steps were like magic. Like stepping into a fairy tale under a curtain of stars. They pontificate upon the fluffiness of the popcorn, the sweetness of the chocolate. They spend hours discussing the quality of the light, the heat of the bonfire. They sit over their drinks smiling like children and they relish being surrounded by kindred spirits, if only for an evening. When they depart, they shake hands and embrace like old friends, even if they have only just met, and as they go their separate ways they fell less alone than the had before."

Rather lovely, isn't it?
