The March 2014 Thread!!!!

Excited to be able to join this group! We are doing just a short (mini-trip as I call it) vacation next March. We will be at AKV from March 21-24.

This is our first time at AKL, and my first time renting DVC points (or staying in a DVC room for that matter).

We probably won't do any parks this time, just make it a relaxing couple of days watching the animals, swimming (if it's warm anyway) and enjoying the great restaurants at AKL, that we don't get to very often, since it's so out of the way.

After we leave Disney, we are going to spend a couple of days over in Cocoa Beach at the Kennedy Space Center, I haven't been there since I was a kid, and both my kids are space nuts so I'm excited about that too. Then DH will fly home, and I'll go visit my parents (who live in Naples, FL) for the rest of the week.

The Disney part of the trip actually came about because I mentioned that maybe on our way back to the airport (we'll fly out of MCO) we could have breakfast at the Poly, since meeting Stitch was one of the few things on my "list" for our last trip that we never got to do. One breakfast quickly grew to a night (or two...) at a Value Resort, then to 3 nights at a DVC resort. Things like that tend to happen when Disney and I mix :rotfl2: But with all the talk of construction at the Poly, I hope to goodness that Ohana is open in March

Since I've already rented the points, and can't change anything, I'm not quite sure what to do with myself for the next few months, no obsessing over discounts, or whether we should switch the resort, or our dates... although I am still on the lookout for airfare (will probably wait until SW releases theirs) and I'll get to do our ADRs in September. :cool1:

Wonder if they will have the mine train ride open when we go? Also wondering if FP+ will be in effect?? Dont forget that packages are supposed to come out July 10! Can't believe June is already over and we are into July. Anyone want to talk about the restaurants they want to book? I think only a few more months till we can do that!

If all goes according to plan, I'll be going too! I'll report back when it is official. We are waiting for the 2014 packages to come out in 8 days!

We will be in WDW from March 1-8...camping at FW. We haven't done the camping thing since our August '10 trip, but I think the weather in March is going to be measurably better.

Would love to be added to the list!

March 12 - 22 for our 6th Spring Break trip! This time it will be just DH and myself at the BCV. Love the Flower & Garden Festival, hoping for some good concerts while we're there!!

Any word on when the F&G Festival starts? It was going on the last time we were there and they had some amazing topiaries!

I am using Swagbucks to try to earn some gift cards for Landry's restaurants - Rainforest breakfast and T-Rex dinner. We always do Rainforest for breakfast. I was also thinking of doing T-Rex this time. (never did it before)

Still saving $ (money already set aside to pay for the trip, saving food $), waiting till I can buy airline tickets and book my package, reading trip reports and waiting for March!!

We ate at Rainforest last month! We really enjoyed it - lots to look at to keep the kids entertained and the boneyard kept them occupied while we waited for our table!

Does anyone have any advice to offer about choosing AOA family suite or POR? We are trying to decide which resort to stay at for our March trip. We have stayed at POR and loved it, but think we might want to try a family suite. Any suggestions, thoughts or ideas would be helpful.

We loved AoA in Oct. The 2 bathrooms are priceless. The theming is fantastic and we are going back in March! We were in Nemo in Oct., but we are going with Cars next trip.

Hello, I just found this thread!!
We are set to travel Feb 22 - March 8
So I really don't know what group I belong lol

Can someone please tell me, have you ever been in Florida for Mardi Gras?
2014 it falls on March 4th

Think it's going to be crazy busy????

It's ranked week 6 and 11 on a calendar I've found.

I have been during Mardi Gras before. It has been slow, moderate, and busy. Presidents Day sometimes falls close to Mardi Gras. In 2014, Presidents Day is 2 weeks before Mardi Gras. I am crossing my fingers that it will not bee that busy.

We can book packages tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Count me in!! We booked our package today! So excited! It will be our 3rd trip with our kids- DD 12, DS, 4 and DS 8. We are meeting friends and maybe going with my niece, 10 on her first trip. Our dates are March 20-29th staying at POR. :cool1:

It's not officially official yet but right now we are working on March 3-7 in Art of Animation!:tinker:::MinnieMo:donald::tigger::mickeyjum

My family and I are trying to decide if we want to stay at POR again next March....or......do we want to try AOA in a Cars family Suite. We love  POR, but think we may like having 2 bathrooms and 3 beds for everyone to spread out. PLEASE give me some advice. :crazy2:

There are quite a few things to consider when deciding which one your family would prefer.

AOA Pro's - Nice variety at food court, great theming, extra bathroom, NEW resort

POR Pro's - pool slide, bus stop near your room (maybe....)

We have considered AOA as well and may do that one but my boys LOVE a pool slide so I really don't know. Yes the pool slide may make or break us.... :confused3

I am officially all caught up on the Who's going when list! Sorry I've been away for a little while.

Thanks for all the advice :coffee:, but I think we are going to stick with POR. My oldest DS told me the other day he just likes how relaxing it is after being in the parks all day (such a mature answer). Oh, and he likes the pool too!! :goodvibes

MARCH cannot get here fast enough..... so ready for some Disneytime!! pixiedust:

Yay :cool1: I just booked. March 6-15 staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

Woohoo so excited. :banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

Now just waiting:hourglass
